You say that as though I didn't give up on RWBY becoming good half way through the second season, and mostly kept up by occasionally reading up on it when bored. Torchwick had potential but damn was he on the wrong shit show.
Neo is literally why though. Deviant art tier oc based on a genderbent Torchwick cosplay. Named after an ice cream flavor. Which is her color scheme. Kill me.

Really, Volume 2? I made it to most of the way through Volume 5 before I had that revelation. I think that was when meaningless side characters who had bad VAs (as opposed to the meh ones most of RWBY has) started getting way too much screentime.

Very tired of Jaune. Even a Jaune who is more of a Jeanne D'Arc expy doesn't tempt me that much, I would prefer just about anyone else. It's a shame our Achilles expy didn't think to sling the Mu Lan expy over her shoulder before diving into the forest, Nora's reaction would have been gold.

I wouldn't expect Pyrrha partnering with Ren would actually lead to him responding to her flirtation. I would expect Nora's continuing attempts to break Pyrrha's legs would be awesome though.
Especially if Nora actually managed to beat her, which given their respective myths is likely- Achilles had to be saved by others every time he fought the river god Scamander, Thor would kick his ass. Nora's myth trumps Pyrrha's, and as a fighter she's super dangerous- seeing her motivated to get serious and train to keep up with Pyrrha would be amazing.
Nora makes a much more interesting rival than Jaune does a love interest.

I liked Oz better when common fanon had him as a time manipulator. Not a body hopping immortal. I haven't been able to repress the headcanon that he let Cinder kill him so he could come back in a body to waifu Ruby.
And Leo was a shit character whose death was the best part of his existence. I'd say he was worse than Salem and her evil cabal of evil, if only because they tried to make it seem like he had depth and totally failed.
That being said, Salem and her evil cabal of evil are still really shit villains. We see enough that they aren't mysterious, but their motivations are either unexplained or hardly make sense. Luckily we don't see quite enough to see how shallow the characters are and so the pretty cardboard cutouts don't need to be developed

I mean, by all indications, Beacon doesn't exist as an academy anymore because of the Grimm spawning Dragon on the main tower so he didn't really need to die. Granted, he didn't know that at the time, but [the paperwork] can't have been too bad. There was only 12 first years, 4 second years, and a ton of shadow blobs that are somewhat like a person. Supposedly, there are also other students, but they either ran away and/or does during the invasion. Both are bad for their future as Hunters

Honestly the only solid case I've seen for partnership is that we'll get to heavily interact with this new Juane, at least initially, and given the way this is playing out chances are we're going to do that anyways, so...
