Skies of Earth [ISOT/Airship Admiral Quest]

[] Plan Air Mongols
-[] Great Power: Your nation was a great power, one among many but not the first among them. Your nation had a combination of industry, population, and military might that could be deployed throughout the globe with ease. Yet, they had rivals and probably more than one at that that opposed them.
-[] 2nd Great War: You have knowledge of the true proportions of a great war, you were either there or your predecessors did. In its wake, you could tell that the world had changed for better or worse. Yet, another one more terrible than the last would come and preparations were made for it.
-[] Elective Monarchy: The monarch is selected by a council or by the nobles.
--[] The Great Khagan is elected via a Kurultai of the ship captains of the Blue Sky Horde The chosen heir of the last Khagan - typically his favourite son - is usually who is elected, but upsets have happened in the past.
-[] Aether Crystals: Crystals that create lift on their own, but that must be treated in order to reach their full potential.
-[] Central Asian
--[] Turko-Mongolian melting pot with a steady trickle of other groups joining the fleet piece meal of the century.
-[] Name : Arslan Leopold Khan
--[] The names of his Grandfathers, Arslan his paternal grandfather, the previous Khagan, while Leopold, his maternal grandfather, was an Archduke of a large nation to the West (our homeworld's version of Austria), the marriage of his parents serving to draw both nations together and to fight alongside each other during the the (first) Great War. Yes, he is a redhead.
-[] Fleet Name : The Onyx Horde
--[] Both to stay in the theme and since Legion wants to name his flagship the Onyx.
-[] Male
-[] 18-25
-[] Diplomacy: rank 2, 3 points
-[] Politics: rank 2, 3 points
-[] Intrigue: rank 1, 1 points
-[] Fleet: rank 2, 3 points
-[] Ground: rank 1, 1 points
-[] Science: rank 1, 1 points
-[] Occult: rank 1, 1 points
-[] Heir to the Throne: You are either the heir to the throne or the king himself, one way or another, you found yourself leading one of your nation's ships. But being a king means nothing if you cannot have the loyalty of your people and that loyalty has to be won and maintained through respect and your men respect you, both as a person and as admiral, at least most of them do, which is already far more than many admirals ever get to since it's not really needed. Now that you are in another world, you are the sole figure of home for these people. A king and a leader to them.
-[] Extra Prepared: All your ships were filled up with supplies perhaps even in overabundance. This will mean that you will have no trouble with materials or supplies for the first year of your arrival to Earth.
-[] Red Baron: Airplanes always were something that you admired, the sleek small crafts that took to the sky on their own and with pilots that managed to make crazy feats seem reasonable. Perhaps, you were an earlier supporter of aircraft for airships or you yourself were a pilot for your nation's aerial navy that rose through the ranks. Regardless, your reputation precedes you and you managed to gather knowledge about their use in combat through experience and with the help of experienced officers. As such, your operations with aircraft are smoother.
-[] Skilled Admiral: You had time to refine your skills, you have studied more than just the art of war or perhaps studied it even more. Regardless, you can show it through a diverse cadre of skills to use.

Basically the idea is that when the steppe people united under Mongol leadership invaded China, they had just started discovering the technology for Airships. To little too late to stop the great Khagan, but while most Steppe Nomads didn't that much attention to the Airship, some embraced them with evangelical enthusiasm, and within half a century left both their new conquests and the caring embrace of Mother Earth to now ride with the Heavenly Father Tengri, roaming the entire planet like their ancestors once roamed the Steppe. Where the old Mongol Empire and its successor states rotted away bit by bit, the Blue Sky Horde endured and expanded. It never settled anywhere, instead roaming the globe, become amongst its most renowned and premier explorers - it was tales of a large land they discovered to the east of Asia which inflammed Western propensity for exploration and colonization.

The Blue Sky Horde did not colonize itself, but did establish vassal and tributary states, some notable amongst them being the Haudenosaunee Confederation, Mandé Empire or Dreamtime Federation (Aboriginal Australia artifically united to make a more efficient vassal state), which prospered until the modern era through the military support of the Horde as modernized states on par with the West's more developed colonies, albeit subordinated to the Horde. However while it was an unmatched airpower in the same way Britannia ruled the waves in our timeline, they lacked the sufficient ground power to become an unrivaled Hegemon. Their Aerial dominance also led them to become a premier actor of the worldwide trade of goods, although not without some competition.

During the first Great War of their world they sided with their version of the Habsburgs due to their recent rapprochement and royal marriage, a long and difficult war they won, if at a high cost. One contributing factor being the Horde's pioneering investments into airplanes.

Edit : Basically justifying our friendliness with the Dual Monarchy due to familiarity and alliance with their Alt!history version, and really playing into our Air NOMAD trait. With some Vassals/Tributaries to hand-wave the need for resources without having to rely on other powers, while also justifying the Great Power status.

Why not both? There exist methods to synthesize the MacGuffin we use, but they are relatively recent and not (yet) as cost-efficient as gathering the naturally occuring thing, which through ASB magic can now be found on Earth.

Yeah, that could be it. May require you guys to build refineries that some earth nations or other factions may want access to.

@Murtox Are the two things natural or can we make them ourselves?
[] Aether Crystals: Crystals that create lift on their own, but that must be treated in order to reach their full potential.
[] Liftium: A gas that when superheated creates lift, requires very special boilers to work.
I'd rather trade engineer and Diplomacy for points which could be used to raise diplomacy science and intrique each one rank and get 3 +10 to rolls bonuses instead of 2.

I still want to be the great NotBritish Empire, plus the extra population is helpful for Air Nomads.

@Murtox Ideas for traits:
Shaman/Cultist/Priest: Basically access to Ocult.
Mad Scientist: Our flagship will get an unreliable and sometimes even detrimental trait.

After some discussion with Legion, I have been convinced that a female Khan could be very fun. Adapting the plan.

[] Plan Air Mongols
-[] Great Power
--[] As Britannia rules the waves in our world, the Blue Sky Horde (and its sub-hordes) rule the skies!
-[] 2nd Great War
--[] Participated on the side of not!Austria, whose side manage to eke out a victory after a long and bloody conflict.
-[] Elective Monarchy
--[] The Great Khagan is elected via a Kurultai of the ship captains of the Blue Sky Horde The chosen heir of the last Khagan - typically their favourite child, usually a son but not always - is usually who is elected, but upsets have happened in the past. Female Khans and Khagans do use those titles and not Khatun.
-[] Aether Crystals
-[] Central Asian
--[] Turko-Mongolian melting pot with a steady trickle of other groups joining the fleet piece meal of the century.
-[] Name : Khutulun-Maria Khan
--[] The names of her grandmothers, Khutulun her paternal grandmother, Khagan before her Father and an admiral of great renown, while Maria, her maternal grandmother, was the daughter of the Archduke of a large nation to the West (our homeworld's version of Austria), the marriage of her parents serving to draw both nations together and to fight alongside each other during the the (first) Great War.
---[] Khutulun-Maria's full name and list of titles is extensive, exhaustive and exhausting, as well as being a multilinguistic melting pot.
-[] Fleet Name : The Onyx Horde
--[] Both to stay in the theme and since Legion wants to name his flagship the Onyx. The Blue Sky Horde is a federation of multiple hordes (fleets) each under a Khan, beholden to the great Khagan.

Honestly, these seem kind of a waste.
I mostly agree on Occult, but Science sounds like it also governs R&D, so coming up with new techs and designs. And once I invest one into Science, I'm left with a spare point lying around and only Occult costing 1.

Edit : @Murtox am I about on the money for Science? And how would Occult be useful anyway?

Yes, and for Occult. Occult is more other types of threats and understanding them, maybe even using them to your advantage that kinda stuff. You know just another of the threats that you will face off in Earth.

Not yet.

Well, the +10 presumably also applies when using the hussars in ground operations, seeing how it is worded, and there is a general non-specific bonus to fighters and bombers, which are our big stick. Personally being skilled in operating aircrafts and perhaps the hussars jetpacks is a nice bonus, but mostly for fluff reasons.
