Because let's go full Dawn Logistics on EVERYTHING FOREVER. Plus, since the PC is probably going to end up Supreme Military Dictator, if (s)he doesn't die horribly, I think Ieyasu is a most auspicious name!

Right, well let me go down the list of why I've ordered these as such. First, Grizzled Sensei, because that gives intellect, knowledge, and Clan Connections in a distinct and appealing way that none of the other options do, to me anyway. Next, Siege Master, because Kaiu Siege Master for Maximum LOGISTICAL SUPERIORITY! Third, Bare-Fisted Bodyguard for exposure to other Clans, underestimation, and general ability to punch things into submission. The last two are, again, sorta Least Appealing options. Defender of the Wall is alright, but it's basically stereotypical Crab so I'm not terribly interested there, and I really have zero interest in playing a deranged Kuni type, especially as a Dawn. That seems like it's not an option that plays as much to Caste Strengths as solidly as some of the others do. I mean, yes, Dawn Hunter of Monsters means horrible horrible damage wreaked upon the forces of Jigoku, but eh, this is the Clan Wars. My focus is thus on the Clans.

I love the idea of a woman from the merchant family being a highly respected teacher or a sumo wrestler. The other three are less appealing because they aren't such an unusual combination, so I put them in the order that sounds better regardless of the other characteristics.

And we're Dawn Crab? I would have wanted to see Zenith Lion Ikoma or Eclipse Unicorn Ide. I'll take comfort on the fact we aren't Night Scorpion, or god forbid, Eclipse Crane.

The implications of the Crab/Kuni/Monster Hunter/Dawn vote are very interesting when you keep in mind what we were chosen for. Amaterasu chose the most outsider-y outsider possible, as disconnected from the normal workings and politics as a warrior of a Great Clan could be. We're liminal twice-over as a Crab from the Empire, and as a Kuni from the Crab. As a Monster Hunter we go into the shadowlands, away from the familiar and into the alien, and as a Kuni we study it. As a Dawn we are a master of emergency and violence, not one suited to the workings of a functioning society.

Basically, the implication here is that Amaterasu thinks the only way to save Rokugan is for an outside force to tear it down and start anew. I am all for this, by the way. Let's be great and terrible.
