SayakaQuest: Trauma is a Thing

Chances that diplomacy would work? Or should we save that for a Giant Spider over a bottomless pit?

Wait... AT hax..

Okay, Sayaka's abilities:
  • She can summon swords to fight with or throw.
  • She can make platforms of magic to leap off of.
  • She's far, far tougher and harder to keep down that she should be, even by PM standards.
With that in mind... does anybody have any ideas?
... Ladies and gentleman, we have a way to develop magic AT fields.

We should work on getting our cape to harden into a shield. Useful.

Not really? She does that all of once that I recall, and it's literally a case of 'leap in the air, make platform, brace against it and jump at enemy'.

In fact, rewatching that scene the platform only lasts for a fraction of a second, and actually looks like it might be closer to standing on air than making a platform.

Scene in question, occurs at 25 seconds in:

Already wanted to schedule an extensive training session where I wanted to try if it would be possible to project these platforms from our arms like shields, around us, making blades... But in the middle of the combat with a boss is not the optimal time to make wild experiments, unless there is no other possibility for victory.
thats why it wasnt a vote.
Also, did mami leave a will?

Okay, I'm not so keen on getting close to the thing with a million murder arms.

[x] Fling swords at the tubes and strings.
[x] Start evading and never stop. Keep the Witch at range.

Say, is magical energy consumption going to be an issue here? Do the different options consume different amounts of power? Since we need Grief Seeds to refuel, this could be a major factor.

I would say it _is_ some kind of platform. You can see that she actually propels herself from it. We should try to work on it.
I agree we should train it/expand on it, it's just that from the looks of it I'd say it's more likely to lead into instantaneous applications (i.e. pulses of force and stuff) than shields.

Battle, Capella [12]
[x] Fling swords at the tubes and strings.

You do a flying leap backwards as the Witch begins to move, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, you hear a voice singing as the slashed moon slowly moves across the paper sky. "Nessun Dorma? The heck?"

[ROLLS: 42,79,26,42,29] http://[MALICIOUS WEBSITE]/roller/view/4251830/

You throw your blades at the strings, one after the other. Your second toss is the one that makes it, and immediately, a string is cut. One of the arms of the monster sags, before it suddenly crashes on the ground. Part of the scenery is immediately creased and the papercraft monster throws its other arm towards you.

[x] Start evading and never stop. Keep the Witch at range.

[ROLL: 22] http://[MALICIOUS WEBSITE]/roller/view/4251833/

You dodge the first blade, but then you're slapped downwards by the blunt side of another pair of scissors. You go flying sideways and into part of the night sky, and the impact causes the entire maze to shake. You reel in pain among the stars, when you discover that, to your horror, they've started shaking on their own.

Looks like you just found out what this witch's familiars are.

[OPTION SELECT]
[] Get out of the sky.

Well those are some fine rolls. Somehow Sayaka's luck is slipping through the fourth wall.

[x] Get out of the sky!
[x] Stay at range and continue to fling swords at the strings and tubes.
[x] Check your soulgem if you get a safe moment.

Generating all these swords is probably expensive energy wise, but I feel that closing with this guy while he's still mobile will lead to lost limbs which are probably even more expensive to fix. Hopefully those star familiars don't have much freedom of movement on their strings, else we are in some serious trouble.

Not necessarily; Mami's muskets have to be more expensive than our swords, and she can spam those pretty freely. And whilst we're certainly a fair bit weaker than her, the reduced cost of swords is probably enough to make up the difference.

I'm hoping that's the case. There's so many variables though that the effective cost could be anything from virtually free to completely ruinous.
