SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

You know, I'm not the only one who saw Sayaka going full Hora on the Witch, right?
Thank you Moid, for writing Sayaka going full Hora on Alison.

Wow, the most effective plans I can think of to evacuate the city is to effectively embark on a large-scale terrorism operation. Involving lots of conveniently empty buildings exploding, hijacked television broadcasts, magical disguise and magical voice modulation, and lots of bluffing about the number of bombs.

I was about to detail it, but then I remembered that there is a non-zero chance Kyubey would find a contractee willing to wish for either the reign of terror to end, to have never happened, or that the fiends responsible are brought to justice. That's out.

That is not going to cause the evacuation of an entire city.

Homura would literally have to show that Russian nuke that went missing a few weeks ago, and demonstrate that she knows how to arm it on television, while somehow making it so that the authorities won't be able to trace it to wherever she has it unless she wants to kill all of Japan's special forces that would try to fuck up her shit.

EDIT: This is just speculation as a player; I have no idea if Moid's giving Homura a nuke or not.

Back to more serious planning: in accordance with Dirtnap's avatar, we need to wear Kyoko's ponytail as a wig at some point.

Except also....also...

Yeah, actually Torg's plan is amazing. I was about to continue my line of thought but I have nothing more to say in the face of such genius.

Advantages are clear, it's the collateral damage we have to worry about.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Homura's tried it and had it work, only for Madoka to either (a) be killed in the blast, or (b) make a wish to fix the city immediately afterwards.

So we can't do anything to clear out the city that would conceivably drive a wish to fuck it up. We have to be subtle. No big impending threats to force people out of the city except natural ones like a hurricane that people could accept.

Say, can our magic...hypnotize people? That could allow us to undercut some of the problems with plan 'super hurricane warning' by getting an expert to falsify the evidence for us, bypassing our education problems. Moral quandaries aside.

Kyoko would in theory be the go-to person here because of her original wish, but thats unavailable due to trauma. recovering that (and Rosso fantasma) could be helpfull, but im not sure how to even try.

Hypnotism is not something we can do and the only person who could had her powers traumalocked and word of Moid from several threads ago says they won't get unlocked before we finsh this quest because it would be too much of a gamebreaker.

That's a bit of an oversimplification of something that would require making Kyoko move on from her father's murder/suicide.
I know but it was the easiest way to say it. I also am pretty sure it's stated somewhere that she rejected her wish. To get her powers back we would have to convince that her wish that led to her family being killed was a good choice and depending on when/if we challenge the Aokigahara superwitch this plus getting her to move on from her dads murder/suicide in 8 days. So basically no mindfucking or illusions for us.

[x] Go...
-[x] Relax.
--[x] Ice Cream? Ice Cream.
--[x] Invite the whole group.

"Okay..." You take a breath. "Who's up for ice cream?"

Tomo looks at Yoko, then at Akane, then at you. "...That...that wouldn't be so bad right now."

Yoko nods, Sukuyo does the same, Akane shrugs, and you call Madoka and Homura. 'Hey, we're getting ice cream for the newbies.'

'...Okay.'
Homura says. '...What, do you want to invite me and Madoka? We have only eight days left.'

'Yeah. You might as well enjoy them while you can.'
You bite your lip. '...It...yeah.'

'Understood.'
She says. 'We'll be over.'

[OPTION SELECT]

[] Go.

[] Talk to...
-[] Write-in.

So... Eight days left. We should definitely talk to everybody. Or maybe not with Madoka present?

Hm. What'd be a good segue onto that subject? If we ask Homura in private to estimate, on a scale of One to WTF, how many Skadi's for a Walpurgisnacht, then guesstimate how many Allisons to a Skadi?

So, hey guys, we've got advance warning that next week we're going to face a witch that's about, in rough terms, so and so many times worse than this last one.
Oh, and at that level of damage, it doesn't need a barrier.
It doesn't have familiars. It has other witches. Who have familiars.
If we don't do anything, the city will practically be wiped off the map.
You probably want to see about alerting your families and loved ones to make preparations to bugging out or something.
We intend to kill it.
It's not going to be easy.
Dying is strictly forbidden.
Boy, this icecream sure is great, ain't it? Um. Sports! How about them Yankees?

?

What i remember Walpurgis having are lots of those starlight-cutout puella magi knockoffs, no other witches or familiars. Now no gurantee thats definitely everything, but where exactly is that from.
Walpurgis is a far... cleaner merge than Skadi was, probably because the whole stage-construction thing, combination/working in concert being essentially the special power of the "seed" witch.

That she apparently produces these by the dozen as side effects from her beam attack is still bad enough.... hmm, did we ever see how tough the were?

Ok, remembering now, theres also that crazy parade when it arrives, but that seemed to never amount to anything.

Hyperbole, really. Also, Walpurgisnacht is the night that witches gather on Bald Mountain to hobnob and dance and frolic with Satan, or more generally, a gathering of witches. It's fairly easy to construe that into being: One Big witch, lotsa smaller witches, loadsa different familiars.

I would recommend that we are honest with what info we actually have, not add nice sounding but factually false things to sound more epic. We want to go into this as well-prepared as possible.

Kinda did not want Madoka for the ice cream run. It puts a damper on what we can talk about at the table. Oh well. Some social but after the ice cream is done, we're probably going to have to talk about Walpurgis.

Same basic deal we gave Akane, edited for non-homeless people: super-powerful witch, we won't blame them if they don't want to fight, they don't need to give us an answer now but they should start working on getting their loved ones out of town next Thursday. And while we're shopping for Akane's cell phone we should also pop in to a pet store to grab a spray bottle to spray Madoka when she proposes making a wish.

Yoko's probably going to be very useful after Walpurgisnacht both for reconstruction and search and rescue. Thoughts on asking her not to fight in favor of disaster recovery?
