SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Hold up... Could we possibly wait until our safe zone's just a few hundred meters off the ground, engage timestop, then ferry everyone away (would take seversl trips) from ground zero?

Maybe? Sounds like it might be possible if the Walpurgisseed holds out.

Kagura can use dark energy, and as far as I can tell, her 'darkness' behaves like it's solid. Can she make chains or ropes of darkness to facilitate rescue efforts?

Just ran some calculations. Assuming one person takes up about 2 feet by 2 feet of space while standing, for 5000 people, that would be 18605000 square centimetres. Or about 1860 square metres. An American football field is about 5350 square metres. So the maximum land we'd need, assuming no buildings, is about a third the size of an American football field. Or about 1.5 times the size of an Olympic pool. We can definitely support a chunk of land of that size, right? With Sayaka's boost and Kyoko's chains? And if we make platforms below Akane, then some of Akane shoving from below?

Umm, oops? *shrug* Just trying to visualize for myself how big a chunk of land you'd need to cram 5000 people on it... I assume Sayaka, being there, can eyeball the amount of land needed much better.

Is it bad that I just watched Avengers: Age of Ultron and thought of this thread? Moid, have you been stealing ideas from Joss Whedon?

I, too, noticed similarities. Perhaps Joss Whedon is cribbing his ideas from here?
In any case, it was handy to have the impact calculations from this thread to explain to my family how destructive a falling city could potentially be.

Sorry. I assumed most people interested in it had seen it by now, which is why I refrained from making comments on the matter before now, which in retrospect might not have been the best thing to assume. And yeah, I'll make that invisible as soon as I figure out how.

EDIT: I think I did it?

I am actually a time traveler. Copying this means that I'm inadvertently spoiling you. Of course, this message means that I am intentionally spoiling you. r u spold yet bruh?

[]Find the grief seed asap
[]Timestop again, then
[]Keep saving civilians if practical
[]Whatever plan we come up with to avoid going splat

I was kind of wondering why we were still trying to grab the seed, but I assumed I must have missed something.

It's in part because right now it reads as Kyouko holding the house sized seed and the building holding the civilians in it. I'm just a little confused that's all.

Hm. At this point I'd say our contribution to the number of civvies saved might be less important than trying to slow the building down some more to save the ones Ran and Homura are saving. Kyoko's already on the chains. I suppose we should start making a shit load of platforms.

I'm really leery of the platform method, but...

[] Make a platform under the falling building.
[] See what happens.

We need to stabilize ourselves before doing anything else :\

Any other ideas?

[x] See what happens.

Maybe we could put a layer of something spongy down to cushion the impact? To be honest, I'm mostly expecting either the platform to comically shatter under the immense weight of the building or for the building to fold like an accordion upon meeting the platform.

Given that very very little time is left, I'd just go all-in on whatever options are available. A single platform likely won't do much; need to spam that. Unfortunately, since we're already at near-terminal velocity instead of just starting to fall, the amount Sayaka can slow the building down is probably rather limited.

Also, can have Ako use sonics to turn our landing site into a fine powder, to have something soft to land on. Exact timing for distance and effect is up to her.

No idea how to make use of Akane at this point.

[x] Start spamming as many platforms as possible under the falling building to try to help slow it down.
[x] Have Ako powder the ground that we're going to land on using sonics.
