I was wondering when Moid was going to start playing Bloodborne; from what I hear, it's like Dark Souls 1, except with everything renamed to be blood-related.

I think that we shouldn´t use the explosive sword as our main startegy to deal damage, maybe I´m wrong, but the explosive swords has only been useful as distractions, and not for dealing any real damge on the doll, I think we must use the only thing that has worked so far and that´s keep tearning her apart like a necromorph.

Other thing, if those whips actually work like real whips the safest place to be right now are as close as possible to the main body because being in that position will negate the whip´s range advantage and if we get close enough to her body we will enter in the whip´s blind spot. Being said that this plan will only work if the whips are whips, and not tentacles.

[x] Bost forward. Get as close as you can to the doll´s body to be in the blind spot of the whips.
[x] Use waverends and rending blade to sewer her torax. Keep an eye on her legs
-[x] If you see any opening try to slice her legs.
[x] Try to keep as close as you can to the doll after the attack.

Hard to tell how much of that is Moid trying to tell us something and how much that is due to jobbed rolls.

IIRC, literally every roll for an explosive sword (for this fight) has been either jobbed or just neutralized by WN getting a really high roll for the defense of it.

Aka. it very well could just be a coincidence, and not really saying anything about the effectiveness or lack thereof of explosive swords.

You stand up quickly as Kyouko and Akane attack towards the Doll. A giant fireball grazes the Doll's face, before Akane leaps back and presses a grief seed into her gem and throws it. She keeps jumping back, before she motions towards you that she's out.

Kyouko's own attack misses, before the Doll impales the spear with a kick and slams the head of it into a building. Your girlfriend tumbles across the ground, armor scraping against the surface of the city as she scrambles to her feet. 'Almost out!' She says. 'I can't do that attack again!'

You clench your teeth and widen your stance, before you begin to boost. The Doll seems to grow larger and larger in your sight, as you raise your sword and shield and prepare to strike.

Your Rending Blade misses the head by inches as the Doll dodges the attack. It turns quickly, exposing the injuries already sustained from Akane and Kyouko's attacks, before it swings a leg upwards.

And immediately, you're blown into the sky as a gigantic metal knee knocks away your shield, and a foot-held blade slices your sword arm in half. The force throws you upwards, shield gone, right arm slashed and left arm broken. You scream in pain as you're thrown upwards, and you hear Homura's voice as she starts to panic.

'I can't bail you out!'

And as you're flying upwards, you can see the Doll following up with a high-flying axe kick.

And as soon as it tries to hit, you boost out of the way. The strike slices deep into the depths of the city, and the ground shudders on impact. The entire platform is rocked by the missed hit, and you hit the ground haphazardly as soon as it misses.

After several tumbles, rolls and collapses, you stand up, with half a right arm and a broken left. Your stance is wide, your breath is ragged, and your chin, you're just now noticing, is slick with blood. The Doll stares at you, cackling as it positions itself and glares down at you, shoulders squared, leg-mounted blades gleaming.

Combat fatigue seems to be taking a toll on the thread, too.
Combat fatigue took it's toll a long time ago. It's the damn dice I'm worried about. We almost crit failed that first defense roll.

I'm betting there's a 25% chance that the next update ends with game over #2

I think the reason why we are so close to letting RNG be the "final nail" for a combat death is that we wasted so much time and resources by with some poor plans in the middle of this stage of the fight. (May be stating the obvious)

Aka. the bleakness of our situation is in no small part our own fault.

You kind of are, yeah. We figured out this was our own fault at about the time we were making it our own fault. We've kind of been getting the shit kicked out of us from step one, here, this isn't news.

Edit: What I'm saying is that we had the "we're fucked" pity party awhile ago. Let's focus on how to win in this current bad situation, not on how we could have avoided this bad situation.

You start to boost in the opposite direction. The Doll rushes after you, feet dragging across the ground as it starts to attack. A giant blade comes soaring up, before it comes down with a vicious stomp.

The attack smashes your face into the dirt and impales you through the chest. Your armor is bent horribly, and you can feel the blade piercing your spine and extruding through what's left of your sternum. You're lifted through the air, before the doll kicks you upwards, the force ripping open your back and chest and sending pieces of bone and flesh flying everywhere.

And as you're going through the air, you can see Kyouko watching you in horror, and the Doll prepares for another strike.

But the moment you see that is the moment you can actually protect yourself. You form a barrier of metal and weaponry, as the Doll prepares to strike again.

The Doll's blade embeds itself in your new, giant sword block. You stand up wearily as the Doll holds the attack for a second, before you do a flying leap backwards.

[DOLL DEFENSE ROLL: 32+80]

The entire blade explodes as soon as you're done. And with that, the Doll's foot-blade explodes, as you land on the ground. Smoke obscures the rest of the Doll in a skyscraper-sized cloud, and pieces of the penultimate blade hit the ground. In the distance, you see Akane running off, arms raised, as she begins to attack whatever remains of the Hands in the city.

And with that, you start healing.

[CORRUPTION: 486/1000]

You fix your sword arm, your spine and your ribcage and as soon as you can flex your hand, you make a new blade. You stare into the smoke, before you see the Doll ejecting the two useless arms, and wiping away the clouds with a kick.

The Doll's stance widens as she stares down, with one blade broken and useless, and the other slightly retracted. It stares down, as the two useless arms on her body eject themselves and crash into the ground beside her, collapsing two golden buildings on impact.

You raise a sword with your working arm, before you slash.

[ROLL: 62+40]
[DOLL DEFENSE: 13+70] (+60 in the roll was a mistake)

The wave rend slams into the Doll's chest, sending pieces of machinery flying backwards. The Doll stumbles backwards, as though it's surprised, before it stares back at you. Its stance widens again, your blade almost hums, and you start to walk slowly towards it.

[] Write-in a plan.

Half corruption and injured? As much as "charge in and beat it to death" seems tempting...The question is do we want to go full derp and charge or do the smarter thing, tag-team with the nearest team member (Kyouko) and risk the bonus restoring itself?

Well, our retreat got fucked, but hey we managed to fuck up the doll some more. That said, gonna think for a moment. Bestgirl seems like a good idea, but I almost feel like we should press the attack.
