SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Act Three. The final part of the show. Either WN will be put down, or we'll be creatively killed off.

Well, at least we can be comfortable knowing with certainty that this is gonna suck big time.

And all of that C-4 gone to waste, too.
Actually, not entirely. Walpurgis just incorporated an entire stadium of explosives into itself. We should keep that in mind for later.

Meanwhile, we have an entire floating city, including all shelters, floating in the sky. We have no means of evacuating all the civilians from the shelters at this point. Completely infeasible.

Even if we do manage to kill Walpurgis, the drop back down to earth will probably kill all the civilians. We need to be sure it's back on the ground before the finale.

Moid noted that the civilians aren't dead yet. Aside from falling out of the sky, what other threats might there be? And if they do die, that seems like a perfect case for a Madoka-wish, so we need to be wary of that. In fact, Kyuubey's persuasion target is likely to shift from "saving Homura" to "saving everyone in the city", now.

We have a skyscaper-sized center stage to get to, and more mechanical people around it.

Current vote:
[] Be paranoid, keep an eye out for traps.
[] Stay together, and move towards the center.
[] Take note of anything that could point to the locations of any survivors.

The obvious target is the big red flag in the middle.

Info that would be useful:

How strong are the new structures? Can we cut through one of these scaffolding pipes easily, or is it going to be like the mess of cutting through the center shaft of Stage 1 Walpurgis?

What are the mechanical people doing? Are they going to be more familiar-level antagonists?

It's about to put on a play. What play? Will meta-knowledge of that play assist in shaping the conclusion?

We need information.

[x] Be paranoid, keep an eye out for traps.
[x] Ran, scout. Get us an idea of what's nearby, and if there are nearby civilian shelters. If you do find shelters, find out what's going on inside. Don't stray too far, though, and avoid combat (unless civilians are at risk). Relay information to us telepathically.
[x] The rest, stay together, and move towards the center.
[x] Take a swipe with a sword at the scaffolding/piping along the way to test its toughness. Have Akane (carefully) test her strength against it, too.
[x] Listen. If music is playing, try to identify it. Sayaka should be good at that.
[x] Homura, any idea where your stadium of explosives is located?

We'll have to ask Homura if she still has the detonator for that if the C-4 hasn't gone off yet.

Reviewed all attacks that we've seen Homura make:

Rocket launchers
Radio tower collapse
Surface-to-air missile
Telephone-pole sized missile
Another missile
Mortars
Missile launcher
Battleship firing all guns

Probable reference to C4 that people are remembering:
This time, a tanker truck glances off of Walpurgis' side, before it detonates in an enormous shower of gasoline and debris, before a full bag of C4 detonates on top of the gears.

Well assuming the stadium even got used as material we have a decision to make.

On the one hand, free C4. On the other hand Walpurgis's last form never took any damage from the stuff. Still, seeing as it's on the inside it might do a bit more this time around. On the downside there are probably civilians in here to get exploded.

I suppose at least the time limit ight be more abstract now (if the timer is indeed "finish the fight before the flunkies kill all the civvies"). On the other hand, that almost seems too easy and straightforward. It also doesn't seem despair-inducing enough. I suspect something much more sinister may be afoot when it comes to the fates of the civilians.

Yeah, they're probably off having their hearts torn out and replaced with clockwork or something similar. Magical clockwork that disappears when we kill Walpurgis. Where did you think all those familiars came from? Walpurgis probably harvests them from cities over the centuries.

Hey is it alright for me for me to say stuff like that? I don't want to give Moid any of my particularly horrific ideas if he's the type to use them.

I got a feeling that it's already too late. Civvies are probably being killed as I speak.

Oh, I'd be surprised if he didn't have the vast majority of this fight planned long before we got here. It's the final boss, what else would you expect?

Fair enough, just wanted to make sure before I accidentally doomed us, you know.

Actually, that explains something. If Walpurgis takes even a few percent of the population from each city it strikes at a rate of 10 kissed humans per two charge grief seed that would give the Walpurgis grief seed .... at least thirty thousand charges. Possibly a whole lot more depending on how often it attacks.

Looks like we're betting for everything tonight!

*whistle*
Woowee this looks like a tough nut to crack. I would like Homura to detonate the C4 but with all the civvies inside, I don't think that's a good idea.

I'm nowhere near optimistic enough to expect a super-seed for our troubles. I'm just shooting for "not dead, not witched" at this point.

I think you are being way too about optimist about the fate of the civilians. I expect that as we are getting closer to the center we discover something similar to the Demon City in Berserk
I am not saying that we should not try to save them, but we must not forget that we are in a fucking Cosmic Horror Story, expect the worst and you won´t be dissaponted
