SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

You easily dodge the kick and throw a sword to the ground.




She changes the angle slightly and slams into the dirt just beside the sword. The impact sends the sword into the air before she shoots it once, straight towards you. Without thinking, you deflect your own blade with your right pauldron, and bring a sword crashing down.

She deflects your second strike and headbutts you promptly. She stands up straight, before she's impaled through the head by a polearm from behind. She freezes, before Kyouko bends it downwards and pops the top of the False Mitsuko's head away as though her spear was a bottle opener.

The lower part of the body melts into the dirt, before the rest of the Familiar grows from the top half of the head. It is now incredibly faint...almost transparent, really.

The familiar looks between you, then at the shadow hand gripping Homura's ankle.

Homura lets her right hand off of the minigun, before she calmly pulls out a pistol in her right hand and aims it at the hand. She fires twice, the first one actually hitting her own ankle before the second fires through the palm of the hand.

The hand lets go on the hit and melts away before it heads back towards the familiar, and you see the False Mitsuko grasping for it.

[] Destroy it.

[] Let Kyouko destroy it.

[] Let Homura.

[] Go with Homura...

Just as planned...

The familiar looks between you, then at the hand gripping Homura's ankle...before the girl calmly pulls out a pistol in her right hand as she holds the minigun with her left. The hand lets go on reflex...and you see the False Mitsuko freezing, as though it is terrified.
Wait, what? Mitsuko is holding Homura with one hand, a pistol in the second hand, and a minigun in her third hand? And then lets go of the pistol? or minigun? or Homura? And is terrified.. But.... I think Homura had the minigun? And, uh...

Add clarity, please?

Clarified. Homura noticed the Mitsuko getting weaker, and pulled out a pistol with her right hand. She's a magical girl, she can hold a minigun with one hand. Can't fire it with any kind of stability, but she can hold it.

Since the familiar relies on either additional shadow (which ain't gonna happen when things are as cloudy as they are on Walmart Night; they aren't as well defined) or retracting clones. So she's desperately trying to do the latter.

OK, so... combining the two versions of the update, the familiar probably just realized what she did when her shadow hand let go of Homura on reflex after being shot: gave Homura free reign over timestop.

So, hit Mitsuko before she gets the shadow hand back? Hit the shadow hand? With Homura free of the hand, she'll probably timestop and unload with the minigun. She and Kyouko will probably be more than sufficient for targeting the familiar.

Since firing at the familiar seems like it would be overkill, I'll aim for the hand itself, since if she reconnects that might give her enough solidity to delay us another round. Given that the options offered are for who gets to destroy it, though, this is probably just like being paranoid about Mami before Kyouko's kill.

And finally, we still have the "go with Homura" option, so might as well set up for that.

[x] Aim a strike at the shadow hand to make sure it doesn't get to reconnect before the familiar is dead.

-[x] Pick up arm and shield and reattach
-[x] Scout the other fights. Look for injured, and bring them into timestop for healing if necessary.
-[x] Set people up for a timestop-gank if it seems feasible, while we finish making the rounds.
-[x] Check Homura's remaining seed supply.
-[x] Check grief levels after healing.
-[x] Check time remaining.

We can just do a short update here, and we really want to make sure it's dead before we go anywhere else.
We can make the big plan updates after finishing it off.

Given the rolls to date, I think we need to go for overkill.
