SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Because given how close minded she's already shown herself to be, I'm worried about how she'll react to the news that her daughter is a lich.

Close minded she may be, but we're not doing the parents any favours by withholding information from them. Tomo dad's here too and he might believe it. We've also got Mikimom to back us up if/when tomo-mom disbelieves. And if that's not enough, Tomo herself can back us on this since she knows the whole lich thing.

-[X] Show your soul gem. "This is the heart of a magical girl's power. You see the way it's dark in patches? That's grief corruption, and it builds up from two things: using magic, and feeling negative emotions. Fear, hurt, rejection, despair, that sort of thing. As it builds up it starts to affect your emotions, giving you extreme mood swings and making your irrational, that sort of thing. And if it goes completely black..."
-[X] *swallow* "...there might be worse ways to die, but I can't think of any."
-[X] "The only way to clean the corruption is by using things called grief seeds. And the only way to get those is by fighting and killing monsters called witches."
-[X] If asked about how/why she's a magical girl: "Because our version of the usual magical girl mascot is a manipulative evil bunnycat whose sole goal in life is to contract as many girls as he can, and then have them suffer as much as possible before dying. He offers you a wish, doesn't tell you any of the bad parts of being a magical girl, and generally does everything he can to convince you to contract. If you see him? Take EVERYTHING he says with a few mountains of salt."

I like this version, mainly because there is no swearing. Nothing stops an adult from taking a teen seriously than when the teen starts swearing.

I don't mean close-minded as in not believing us, I mean close minded as in unable to accept things that don't fit into her world view (like Tomo being attracted to a girl); basically, I'm worried about her reacting with a line like 'you're not my daughter any more!' or something.

It's probably also worth mentioning, early on, that we need the soul gems to live.

I mean - as in pointing out that getting rid of (or destroying) the gem (and therefore magic) will not help make the problem go away.

Pretty sure Mikimom would kick Tomo-mom's ass for that one. So I'm not really seeing an issue here. :p

More seriously though, that's a good point.

-[X] Show your soul gem. "This is the heart of a magical girl's power, their very soul. You see the way it's dark in patches? That's grief corruption, and it builds up from two things: using magic, and feeling negative emotions. Fear, hurt, rejection, despair, that sort of thing. As it builds up it starts to affect your emotions, giving you extreme mood swings and making you irrational, that sort of thing, and generally making it easier to build up more grief fast. And if it goes completely black..."

-[X] "And no, before you ask, there is no way out of being a magical girl. Destroy the gem? It'll kill her, because, as stated, its her damn soul."

Added a few things, dood, because I don't want Tomomom doing something tragic.

Maybe tell them about how it's literally their soul, because yeah, we don't want breakage... But it may be an issue either way because no one ever reacts well to the lich thing. Maybe simply say that if it breaks, she dies, and not elaborate on WHY?

Also, added an explicit opening for questions. Because we AREN'T Kyubey.

[X] Explain.

"This is a heart of a magical girl's power." You show Tomo's parents your soul gem. "You see how mine's slightly dark in places? That's grief...and it builds up whenever I use magic and feel negative emotion. Fear, hurt, pain, rejection...despair." You take a breath. "That sort of thing...and as it builds, it starts affecting our emotions. It gives us extreme mood swings. We become irrational...we hurt ourselves and others. It makes it easier to build up more grief."

Tomo's mom looks at the gem, then at you. "...Why would you even have one of these things?"

You clench your teeth. "And...if it goes black? I can...there might be worse ways to die but I can't think of any."

Tomo looks away, while her mom and dad look between you and the gem. "It...isn't that a liability? Why would you do that to yourself? Can't you get rid of it?"

Your mom frowns deeply, Kyouko holds your hand, and your fist clenches around the soul gem. "...no. I can't. I could try but..." You swallow again. "It's...that's fatal." You look back. "The only way to clean it is by using something called a grief seed." As you say it, Kyouko brings one up. "And the only way to get them is to fight monsters called witches."

"I..." Neither of them seem to understand, Tomo's mom least of all. If anything, she just seems more confused...and scared.

"As for your question?" You look at them. "Our version of a magical girl mascot is a manipulative, evil little fuck whose sole purpose is to contract as many girls as he can, and to make them suffer as much as possible before dying. He offers a wish, but hides the downsides of becoming a magical girl...if you ever see him, take whatever he says with a mountain of salt."

'You say this time and time again, Sayaka.' Your hand balls into a fist as a sickeningly sweet voice echoes in your head. You see Kyubey nearby, tail flicking about, before you see Tomo's parents staring at him. 'I am not malicious. I am not "evil".'

[OPTION SELECT]

[] Kill. Him.

[] Ignore him.

[] Write-in what to do.

[X] You deliberately withhold details that you know would keep girls from contracting. You repeatedly condemn perfect innocents to death, lives of constant suffering, or fates worse than death. When magical girls are in vulnerable emotional states you sometimes show up and do your best to push them over the edge. You have no problems with giving girls misleading or incomplete information about other matters if it'll help your goals, no matter how likely it is to get them hurt or killed. And you do all of this without so much as a hint of remorse or regret.
-[X] Maybe you're not evil by whatever weird morality system you use, but by ours? Yeah, you are. Now get lost.

Are we letting the fucker to talk? I think that vote is allowing the marshmallow to talk.

...

Yeah, lets make the marshmallow talk, it will sell itself. :V

[x] Open a window, toss him out with extreme prejudice.
-[x] Repeat as necessary if he comes back.
[x] "He has spare bodies. Killing one of them doesn't solve anything, but it does make him shut up for a little bit. And it's cathartic."
[x] "He offers a wish - a miracle, anything you want - in exchange for becoming a magical girl and fighting witches. Of course, he fails to mention the fine print of 'feeling negative emotions and using magic corrupts this thing'," hold up the soul gem, "and 'if it breaks, or if it gets too dark, you die'.
[x] "Enough about Kyubey. My point is that, what you two are doing? Making Tomo's home life a living hell? You're literally killing her."

Let's not let the marshmallow talk. That's a lichbomb at best for Tomo's parents, and a witchbomb for Tomo at worst.
