Powers (2/10 Refresh)
Evocation (3 Refresh): As the reincarnation of Amaterasu, Evocation magic quite literally comes naturally to Hinode. However, incompatibilities in mindset make Rituals difficult to use, and he never bothered to relearn the talent. Related Aspect: Oni Slaying Deva.

Cassandra's Tears (0 Refresh): Due to Divinity, Hinode can technically see into all timelines at once, existing in more then one place at one time. However, he has no ability to direct the power; his vision sees whatever Amaterasu is currently looking at on the Time Axis. Related Aspect, God in Human Skin.

Sight (1 Refresh): As a Divinity, Hinode naturally has the sight. Related Aspect: God in Human Skin.

Beast Change – White Fox with 9 Tails (1 Refresh): As a Deva of Amaterasu descended from Tamamo-no-Mae, Hinode has access to a fox form that, perhaps, might be the real him. Whether Hinode or the fox is the true Hinode, is irrelevant, however. Whilst in Fox Form, Stealth and Weapon ranks are swapped, as are Might and Burglary, and Presence and Investigation. Related Aspect: Oni Slaying Deva.

Glimpse of Divinity (0 Refresh): When a person uses the Sight upon Hinode, it becomes immediately obvious that he is in some way related to Amaterasu. The fox ears and shining halo are dead giveaways. Related Aspect: God in Human Skin.

Item of Power: Taiyo no Tsurugi – Masamune (太陽の剣:正宗の剣) (3 Refresh)
  • [0] Purpose: A magical blade that originates from the tail of Orochi, as a magical gift to Amaterasu. Only those sharing either Amaterasu's blood, soul or blessing may draw it.
  • [0] It is what it is. Masamune is an exquisitely designed katana. Weapon 3.
  • [0] Unbreakable. As an Item of Power, this item cannot be broken except with a magical ritual dedicated upon perverting its purpose.
  • [+2] Discount Already Applied. As an Item of Power, the sword already includes the one-time discount.
  • [-2] Sunlight Edge. The Masamune, when drawn, is like a miniature fragment of the sun trapped in metal. Attacks made with Masamune against targets not immune to fire suffer three additional stress, and Masamune satisfies any Catches that have to do with heat, the Sun, or if the target is a Youkai.
  • [-1] True Aim. When you use it in keeping with its purposes, the Masamune adds 1 to your Weapons skill.
  • [-1] Always at Hand. Drawing the Masamune does not take a supplemental action. It is instantaneous, and you may do it during someone else's turn. If you are ambushed and would defend and Mediocre, you may have the sword spring into your hand and defend at Good instead.
  • [-1] Mark of Power. For the Supernatural, in the hands of someone who may rightfully use it, the Masamune is an obvious artefact of Amaterasu's direct attention.
  • Related Aspect: God in Human Skin.

Phase 1—Background and Early Life
Amongst the Japanese pantheon, there is one deity who perpetually wonders how humans live, Okami-no-Amaterasu, the mother who guides the sun. Throughout the ages, she has occasionally popped in on the world to satisfy that curiosity, and perhaps lend a hand to her precious children, who populate the world in the stead of the gods. Recently, that desire struck again, and the result, was Hinode.

As a mortal, he is a young man who was born in Kyoto, to a small family who had the blessings of Inari and tended to the food markets. A divine blessing, he has an elder brother and a younger sister. Money was never tight, although one must wonder if that was simply Inari lending a hand.

His young life was pleasant, if, by the standards of those who serve as Amaterasu's mortal incarnations, dull. He grew up as one of the local hands to the shrines, serving as a guide to those who wished to see the old ways, though keenly aware that he had been passed by.

His education was, relatively speaking, normal. As a Deva, an avatar of Amaterasu, he had access to the special trait known as the 'Knowledge of the Rising Sun', the ability to pick details out of the knowledge that Amaterasu knows. Due to lack of interest, his schooling ended in high school. As Amaterasu's previous incarnation was a well regarded physicist, he had no desire to continue his education. Instead, he lived as a Shinto mystic, granting blessings of a sort and performing parlour tricks.

However, as a Deva, he could easily see the dark side of the world, the mystic side that others sought not to see. Even as a child, he had the defeat of multiple Oni under his belt, demons of Japanese origin.

For Hinode, the fact that he was a part of Amaterasu was an inescapable fact that he had always known. But even so, he wished to be a human, to live as a human. To do that, he had to help solve human problems.

Phase 2 – Rising Conflict
There are many demons in Japanese myth, many creatures that would wish harm on the land. However, chief among them was the recurring terror, the demon of the Mountain of Evil Spirits. Yamata-no-Orochi.

Every one hundred years, the demon would return and wreck havoc. Once upon a time, those reigns of terror often overlaped, for Orochi would survive to terrorise generations. The very first time he was slain, it was by Amaterasu's brother, Susano'O, a god cast down to be a man, who had done the deed. Since then, the job had always fallen to the three siblings of the Sun, Moon and Cloud to do the deed. If Amaterasu was the Sun, Tsukyomi the Moon, and Susano'O the Clouds, then Orochi, surely enough, was the vile earth beneath.

The warning signs were obvious, in hindsight. The rise in Oni in the area, the holes to the Nevernever created by the Demon Gates Rashomon, created by the interference of Oni, and the spilling of power. However, after an incident at Honnoji temple during Hinode's travels, the possibility of Orochi returning could no longer be ignored. Maybe it'd be a decade. Maybe it'd be less. More. Well, by Hinode's math, it would be more.

With the historical temple at Honnoji destroyed, and the Rashomon within it permanently cracked open, with a heavy heart, Hinode accepted this life would not be quiet at all.

Phase 3 – First Adventure: The Holy Sword of the Sun
Co-Starring:

With the return of Orochi on the horizon, Hinode came to a few conclusions on what needed to be done. The first of which, of course, was the return of his holy sword, lent to the descendants of Amaterasu. It had many names and many shapes, Kusanagi, Murakumo, but right now, it's name was Masamune.

And currently, that sword was in America, in the antique collection of a crime lord.

In truth, tracking the blade down wasn't exactly hard. The crime lord was unusually proud of his possession, as was the case of most people who thought they had a piece of the Imperial Regalia. In truth, humans had made a number of laws regarding the rules of magic, and while Hinode was relatively sure that they might not apply to him, the current perception of him being human meant that breaching them, possessing a man and simply taking the sword would likely cause problems until his next reincarnation.

At least Hinode could be reasonably sure the blade would not be stolen out from under his nose. After all, anyone who knew of the Imperial Regalia knew the sword of the set was a straight edged blade, right? The form had only changed again a scant few centuries ago with the name change, after all.

I might want to use you for my phase 4. Though you're in a crapton more detail than I thought. (Cat burglar for the win)

I just used the arrays from the book. Did I take too many?

Nah. I was five short. I thought 30 skill points, not 35.

I'm probably going to take some compels that are... related to the cat thing.

Phase 1: Shortly after Shiki was born into the only remaining sect of a high-class Japanese family, they moved to the US state Michigan.

One of the more unique traits of this family was that children born into the family had a tendency to have two personalities from birth; one that was more 'girlish', and one that was more 'boyish'. As Shiki was the only child in the family that manifested both personalities, she was chosen as the heir to the family and business. Another effect of this was that it enhanced the already very difficult time she had socializing with other people, due to the overexperience in talking to one person.

Said business was far from mundane; for as long as the Ryougi family had known about the existence of the supernatural, they had been fighting the monsters that were born of it. And so, a good part of her childhood was spent being trained to continue the business.

After a series of murders commited by her "male" personality, and a car accident that left her comatose for a few years, she awoke to a world without said personality, and with many, many lines. Her family had also quit the business of monster hunting.

After a month or so, she was released from the hospital, and a series of events took place which led to Shiki taking up a blade to take out a monster that had been around the area. She decided that she enjoyed hunting down such beings, and became a monster hunter.

Eventually, she met and teamed up with a woman named Terra Branford, and to this day, they work as a duo of monster hunters.

Phase 2: One day, at the age of fifteen, after the fifth and final murder commited by her "male" personality, she got into a car accident. When she next awoke two years later, she was, for the first time in her life, alone, left without her male personality, and her eyes had gained a curious and horrifying trait; they could see crimson lines. Everywhere she could see, things were covered in them. And not only that, but she could interact with them, and if she were to cut one of them, a "death" would come over the thing it was attached to; whether that was it being perfectly bisected, it withering, or shattering into many pieces, it would happen in an instant. She was afraid of losing herself to all of those "deaths" that she could see, and so, injured her eyes.

During her month-long stay at the hospital, she was attacked at night by spirits who tried to find refuge in her; after several weeks of mentally fending them off, trying not to give in, she came to an epiphany; were she to just sit there, and let them keep attacking her, she would die. And that no matter how she felt about being left all alone, that she did not want to. She then fought off the spirits, using her eyes as a tool, and killed them. This is also when she realized that her eyes weren't as much of a curse as she thought.

Phase 3, Empty Boundaries, Co-Starring Terra Branford and Place Holder: A few days after leaving the hospital, she started to notice something strange about a few of the murders that were happening around her area; they reflected the same type of murders that she had committed only two years ago. Symbols were found carved into the victims bodies, and the methods used to kill them were very bloody in nature.

Out of a sense of obligation, or maybe excitement, she began investigating to find the perpetrator behind the killings.
Eventually, she found out who it was, and killed them. She found that she enjoyed hunting down monsters and taking them out, and so decided to take it up as a job.

Over the course of the next four years, there would be seven cases related to the monster, who had been a human influenced by a Red Court Vampire named Araya Souren, who had been trying to ready the area for an experiment of his. During the last couple years, she learned about someone who might know who's behind all of this, and in an effort to learn about it, takes a trip to Germany to get ahold of them.

Phase 4, Fading Humor, Primarily Starring Terra Branford, Co-Starring Anna Kaminski : After hearing about a man named Kappa, who has connections to the person behind the series of serial killers, she decided to head to their location, Germany, in the fall of 1919.

While looking around for hints and people who might know more about the exact location of Kappa. After asking around a bit, she eventually came into contact with a woman who was apparently known as "Atma Weapon". After a misunderstanding, they engaged in a brief battle, during which they came to realize that they had similar goals and Shiki learned of Kappa's misdeeds, and so she decided to help her.

Later down the road, after a few weeks passing, they would meet a girl named Anna Kaminski, who would join up with them.

They would eventually bring justice to Kappa, and Shiki received her answers in the form of the many documents held in his hideaway.

Phase 5, Fire Watch, Starring Alice Matthews, Co-Starring Tomo-no-Hinode: One day, while she was in her office, idly flipping through the newspapers, she received a knock on her door. At the door was a woman named "Alice Matthews", who was apparently hunting after the person behind the recent arson cases in Detroit.

She gave an estimate as to where they might find such a person, and gave them some of her personal observations on the arsonist. Although, the way she described said observations was odd, and thus, were not particularly illuminating./spoiler]
Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (-4): You can see the death of things living and dead, manifested as crimson lines running across it. In game, this allows you to bypass any defensive powers (toughness based ones, primarily) and mundane armor that a singular creature possesses for the rest of the scene; however, you have to first spend a turn "searching" for the lines on a creature, rolling your alertness against their endurance, and succeed.

Honestly, it seems like a foregone conclusion that practically everyone is gonna at least try to kill Mort's character in this.:V

Seems so. I think the major issue is more that Mort's killing regular mortals. Lio really seems like he's going to be borderline NPC anyway <.<.

Edit: Says the person playing a werecat wizard.

If we can redirect it to Bad Guy group X, I think it can.

Edit: Hrm. Canon Compliant Fae Courts, circa 1930:

Summer:
Queen Mother: Mother Summer
Queen: Titania
Lady: Aurora
Knight: (Possibly Roald Reul, but a younger one)

Winter
Queen Mother: Mother Winter
Queen: Mab
Lady: Maeve
Knight: Not Lloyd Slate. Dude was only a little older than Harry.

Your not... weak to sunlight are you?
It makes him more normal.
A Red Court Infected must have a high concept that addresses the character's infected status (e.g., Once Bitten, Twice Red or Infected Insurgent). This aspect may be compelled to inflict watered-down versions of the Red Court's weaknesses on the character— he will experience aversion to holy objects and sunlight and, when exercising his powers, he may even be damaged by them. On the other hand, these can also help him resist his vampiric urges when he isn't using his powers.
