The Final Preparations Part 3
(Alatu POV)
You nodded as you considered the many many options in front of you with what you can ask a Vampire who has lived through the time and suffering of empires.
He has seen the wars, the rise of Hyperborea and their powerful northern armies and the Cimmerian Migration that has come in the shadow of the collapse.
The Rise of the Empires, the loss of Magic and the knowledge of Atlantis, and more.
The Thousands of questions that would take you a lifetime to ask and answer.
"I'm going to need a drink when this is over aren't I?" You said.
He almost smiled at that. "I'll point you at a fine vintage before you leave."
-[X]His Plans: He clearly didn't go through all this trouble to take a city for the kicks?
"You clearly haven't done all of this for the kicks, a Vampire's cult doesn't worm its way into a city this openly without a plan or so chaotically." You said.
"Right you are, the sloppy work is a matter of taking advantage of the Governor's chaotic decisions as he deals with other threats, he considers greater than myself." He said calmly.
"There are things greater than you?" You said feeling the primal concern in the back of your head the small whisper of fear and agony. Something was worse than him now…and a part of you can feel it.
"There are alot of things more terrifying than me, Child of Man. At the end of the day even monsters are afraid of the dark." He said.
"And what does the city hold? That you risk your own safety?" You said.
"Old treasures buried deep, though not enough to be useful to you mage, its more, sentimental reasons for me than actual use." He said. "Its a hobby that my master lets me indulge in."
"So your building a library for him? You said,
"I've already done it years ago, moved it to safer lands far from hunters and fools, this is a personal project." He said. "Nothing more."
"I see." You said.
-[X]His Past: Who was he? Before the Vampirism.
"Before all this, in Acheron, who the hell were you?" You said.
He gave a killing glare, before realizing what you meant.
"Ah the past. Its been a long time since I've thought of it." He said, waxing nostalgic at the time long sinced passed into memory.
"My Name is unpronancable in most modern languages of this age, I am Lord Ezmos "Bloodhunter" Third Great Apprentice to the Legendary Archmage of Python, fourth holder of the amulet of Set , The Gilded Eye version not those cheap knock offs, and lord of the Iron Crossing" He said with a bow.
"Never heard of you in all the texts I've read." You said.
He raised an Eyebrow. "Surely you must have heard of the Great Bloodletter?"
"Nope." You said.
"What about the Great Rider of the Storm Dragon Demon Franys?" He said.
"Never heard of that." You said.
"I fought the Great Sage Pelias from Koth." He said.
"Oh…I heard he kicked your ass." You said.
"A great disappointment I have suffered, I swear. Is he still alive?" He asked.
"Last I heard…he wandered off somewhere. I think he was studying something, or thats what my Slave Master said." You said.
He nodded. "Well I became a vampire not long after fighting the great sage after getting the eye of a greater vampire, and I spent the centuries gaining knowledge, treasure and information in order to further my masters plans."
"Yet your not high on the Vampire caste arn't you?" You said.
"I have suffered indignities in the past that cast me into a slumber and only now will I be awoken…so yeah, a temporary embarrassment." He said.
-[X]His Knowledge: What had he learned about magic in his time, what was worth knowing?
He waved it off. "But you are wanting to know the levels of my knowledge…don't you." He said.
"Its only fair, Master." You said, giving him the respect a teacher should be given.
"I am an elemental controlling sort, focusing on the four classical elements, I can summon hellfire from my pact with a lesser demon and I can use blood magic, with enough energy…Does that Answer you question student?" He said.
"It gives me something to look forward to." You said.
-[X]The Govoner's Ring: You think mentioning the Governor's Ring will give…something you didn't know.
"The governor has a ring I've never seen before…" You started.
"One with a Green Delta on it?" The Vampire said, making a small frown.
"Yes." You said.
He gave a small chuckle. "Ahh, then he's an old tired Fool who thinks man are still masters of this world. Do not follow his path, it will only bring madness and pain for all of you welps."
"What is he then? A Cultest?" You said. "A Worshiper of an Elder Monster of the Elder Dark?"
He smiled. "It is far worse then that child, He is a man who thinks that Man can defeat the Dark places, the Monsters and the Evil of this world with might and power…he and his order cannot. Be wise and be like the rest of the sheep of Man and surrender to your fate…you cannot overcome Darkness itself, even with your fire."
And then was gone.
Reward: What is the Order of the Green Delta?
------------------------------------------
You sighed as the apparition vanished. "I'm dead…I'm fucking dead!"
This place has too many secrets to learn, and not enough time to learn them all.
You sighed. "Ibis…I don't pray to you, can never say the words, but I beg of you, give me a path forward so I may end this madness!"
A Gust of Wind came through the Vampire's Library…and the final candle was extinguished.
Alone in the Dark.
"Etheral Light" you said feeling the mana drain as the small light started to fly around you like a candle.
Well…you didn't expect this.
The Vampire in his arrogance gave you everything you needed.
