Hey, MIB style mindwiping should be possible for us. Remember that Canon!Waver found lodgings in Fuyuki by using hypnosis on an elderly couple to make them think he was their grandson.

Depends on how fast we figure out, since hypnotizing masses of people requires a lot of magi to pull off, and then we need to cover the records.

Well yes, our first indication will probably be when they come to either arrest Maiya or investigate us with a warrant, which will be long before the news becomes known to the general public. They generally don't announce that stuff to the public until after they make an arrest.

Year 6: Results (Part 1)
Year 6: Results (Part 1)

The year was an utter mess.

It started off smoothly enough, with Irisviel working on her manga and taking Illyasviel and Shirou to the side and explaining the facts of life to them. Irisviel spoke with Illya and taught her all that she could, and then turned to Shirou with great glee to explain to him those facts. At first, he was reluctant to listen, before a few more of the facts were revealed.

Sometime in the week afterwards, he paid a visit to Hayate and tried to chew her out through her laughter. Apparently, when he had spoken with Hayate a couple years ago, she had with some amusement told him an incomplete version of the Talk based on what she had read from her textbooks. What's more, she told him the incomplete version on purpose, in hopes of a plan of hers, but was mostly foiled by Irisviel doing parental duties.

In the meantime, while Shirou was starting to spend time with Hayate again wearing costumes that she designed, you considered the job offer from MBI. It had been offered to you specifically, and seemed custom fit to your non-Moonlit skills. If nothing else, it was a job, and you needed the money for the family's plans later in the year.

Hiroto Minaka was pleased to have you on with him at MBI, but he greatly unnerved you. The head of MBI had a grand plan for about a decade in the future, but he refused to share the details at the present moment. To your surprise, during the interview, he wasn't even present, instead conversing through a robotic doll just in case you decided to shoot him.

But that was the least bombshell he dropped.

When you asked why he wanted to hire you, he said he had a few reasons. First of which was that Shirou was his missing eldest son.

A few weeks or so before the Great Twin Fuyuki Fires, Shirou came down with the chicken pox, and was sent to his then-wife's parents in Fuyuki so that he could recover without infecting his younger siblings Minato and Yukari. Once there, a young woman training to be a bodyguard claimed that Shirou was likely going to be targeted by a serial killer in the city. Luckily, the bodyguard also claimed that she was going to defend Shirou, and to help her, Hiroto Minaka sent four of MBI's own agents, the then Disciplinary Squad, to help out.

It was only because they were in a van trying to track down where an enemy might be staying to pre-empt them that they managed to survive the first Great Fuyuki Fire, even if it took a week to retrieve them from floating on the ocean afterwards. The woman who was training to be a bodyguard seemed to have disappeared, but she had managed her duty of keeping Shirou alive long enough for him to be passed to you.

It took some time to learn that Shirou was even alive; in fact, Minaka had assumed that Shirou had perished in the first of the Great Fuyuki Fires. It was only a couple years later, after his wife had divorced him and claimed sole custody of their remaining children, that Minaka learned that Shirou, who had been Takami's favorite, had survived both blazes and been adopted by an assassin. And, after some research, not just any assassin, but the Magus Killer, who killed his enemies like magic.

And truthfully, Minaka had hoped that you could teach Shirou how to be an assassin himself, since it seemed 'wicked cool', and would make things interesting when his grand plan came about. He also believed that he wasn't exactly parent material, so all he could do would be to give a little nudge every now and then to get Shirou to improve certain skills.

Still, he would like to keep Shirou living secret from Takami, in order to surprise her in later years. He wants to see the shock on her face when she finally meets him.

Another reason why you were being offered the job was that, as the caretakers of his eldest son, you were running out of money with all the food and clothing you had to purchase for the family. There is only so many bones the man was willing to just throw you, so you had to earn a few of them to keep Minaka happy and keep your family in relatively good shape.

Finally, for practical reasons, Minaka wanted someone who knew the underworld and had connections to it, so that Minaka could not only make use of it, but also have someone who could alert him in case anything related to MBI's interests is learned about down there.

The job seemed harmless enough, and the man still possessed no hint of the Moonlit World, so you couldn't give a solid reason of why you might decline the job. So, you went ahead and accepted it.

On the bright side, you might figure out what is going on at MBI and might even take advantage of it.

In March, there was a wedding that the entire family attended, Kyouya and Shinobu getting married under the Takamachi family name. A couple members of the Tohno family came as well, though the current head of the family had to be removed from the ceremony halfway through before he went on a rant.

Taiga also departed for college in March, seeking to become an English Teacher and an effective leader of the Fujimura Yakuza. She enjoyed living with the Emiya family, but it was time for her and Ruby to make their own way in the world. And with the Kaleidostick, it seemed very unlikely that they'd face any trouble they couldn't handle.

Illya, when she wasn't studying the Moonlit World generally and making connections with the community, worked to try to obtain the remains of the Einzbern magecraft. The Einzbern line was dead, thanks to the Grail War, but considering that she had the Einzbern name, she was able to put in a few words with the TSAB in order to get all the thaumaturgic equipment out of the Einzbern Mansion.

But the TSAB was not idle themselves; having participated in a Grail War, and having to face down a seemingly unbeatable foe, several of the leaders of the TSAB were starting to prepare plans for the next Holy Grail War. Many of the proposals that they were tossing about were classified, but a question that wasn't classified was simple: 'how do we purify the Grail?'.

They had no idea when the next Grail War would be, so they were trying to hurry preparations. Apparently, Yuuno was approached with a request to be a Master again, but the boy said he'd really have to think about it after the last one, where they got off light.

After getting a powerful mystic code called the 'Dress of Heaven' out of the TSAB's hands (which they had confiscated from the corpse of a homunculus that had perished when the Justizia went down, though they lost two mages doing so), the only official contact that they had with your family was with Maiya when she helped out with crafting identities for the immigrants from Mid-Childa.

Still, she was effective in negotiating for the adoption of Hayate into the Emiya household, even if Nobuyuki Nakamura decided to continue his deceased wife's experiments in a few years. Most of the other local families and groups looked at you in disbelief in taking in another mouth to feed with special needs, but you were committed to that course of action.

However, it was the middle of the year, after Hayate had been brought into your household, that things not only fell apart; the world your family worked hard on went to hell.

(Unexpected Expense: -1 Time)

This is NOT all of this year, but I am having difficulties getting out the responses to the discovery of the immigrants. Still, this should at least tide you over until I manage to finish what happens.

I don't know why, but I think you have read the fanfic In Flight from gabriel blessing.
There's A LOT of fics that have clearly influenced this quest. Another one is the crossover between F/SN and Nanoha titled Mahou Senki Lyrical Days. That one actually led to the creation of a snippet thread on Beast's Lair that's purely dedicated to Nanoha crossovers.

Year 6: Busted
Year 6: Busted

Police Chief Hachiro Wakahisa finally got a lead in May, had his men take a couple months to make absolutely sure that the involved parties could not escape legally, and had about six-dozen arrest warrants, with some individuals getting multiple warrants, filed forms and notices with Police Departments from other cities, and then got backup from those departments.

At the end of June, the man led a mass raid in Uminari. You, Irisviel, Maiya, most of the local Fujimura Yakuza leaders, some of the local TSAB leaders, Zelretch, Lindy Harlaown, Nobuyuki Nakamura, and several immigrants from Mid-Childa were all included the arrests, to the horror and shock of most of the families you knew. Even Taiga was pulled out of college and arrested.

The Dead Apostle Ancestor Merem Solomon was also almost arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but a quick confirmation that no, he didn't have any warrants on him, and no, he wasn't related to any of the illegal immigrants, let him free to visit the Bannings family to try to catch up on what was going on and to try to recruit them back to the Church. Afterwards, he beat a hasty retreat.

The Police Chief had done his job too well, preventing any chance of using magecraft to get him to go away without the chance of having him return later to try to finish the job. The raid was also televised, with the details hinting at a criminal smuggling ring and a number of illegal immigrants, with more details promised as they were revealed.

With a little luck, you and Irisviel managed to be freed within a day due to the fact that you had five children to take care of. A couple quick questionings failed to tie anything to you two, so the charges were mostly dropped. There was a single charge of child trafficking, due to Hayate being purchased from the Nakamura head, but it was dropped at the insistence of the Police Chief, stating that not only was it a one-time thing, but from evidence gathered, you were likely doing Hayate a favor. Still, Hachiro promised that he would keep an eye on your family just in case you stepped out of line again without an excuse to back your activities up. The stress of all the activity going on caused you to have to use a couple Grief Seeds, though.

Maiya wasn't so lucky. She was charged with many counts of identity forgery and assisting illegal immigrants, with many other charges relating to Yakuza involvement. With a little hypnotism, she was able to knock off a couple of the charges, but most of them had been filed before her arrest, and it would take a Yakuza you no longer had in order to get to where all the copies of the charges were.

Nobuyuki had it worse. While he had fewer charges, but they were greater, with selling children and unethical human experimentation among them. Such charges were exaggerated into worse ones, and he would have likely been beaten to death by his fellow inmates if the final results of the exposure of the immigrants hadn't gotten to him first. Luckily, his children were placed in the parents of mundane civilians in another city.

Taiga was released, due to the fact that the only thing that they could truly connect her to the Yakuza that they brought down was her name; they couldn't find any sign of her actually being a part of it. Zelretch was freed too after it was put through that he wasn't actually guilty of any of the charges filed against him, while Lindy was also released once Hachiro realized that even if she was an illegal immigrant, all of the documents that she had were real enough that he could file no charges against her. A few other members of TSAB were released as well, but most of them were successfully charged, as well as most of the Mid-Childa refugees and all of the Yakuza heads.

From what Illya gathered from conversations with the Mayor shortly after the incident, Mid-Childa was being exposed to the Police by about two dozen of the prisoners, and about six of them were gleefully telling the Police Chief about magic and the Moonlit World, in the hope that they could get some allies to make it so that they could take on the Mage's Association. Those six wanted their old lifestyles back, even on a world not used to them. Wakahisa was unnerved by how many conspiracies he had inavertedly uncovered by taking out the Fujimura Yakuza, and had registered his last will and testament with the Japanese Government.

While trying to figure out what to do next, you took your family to Café Ahnenerbe at Zelretch's invitation, in an attempt to get yourself and everyone calm. Of course, the Wizard Marshall would never extend such a blunt invitation if he didn't want something, and in this case, he wanted you to meet a certain woman that you were quite sure wasn't from Uminari, or even from any of the non-arrested immigrants from Mid-Childa.

'Penitent Gretchen', as she called herself, was a kind young woman with pink hair, a large dress, and had a sad smile on her face, but had a tiredness in her eyes. When Shirou pressed her to learn what was bothering her, Penitent admitted that her work was never done, and that she was only visiting Uminari due to Zelretch, though she had noticed a girl on the streets of the city that reminded her of an old friend of hers.

While you didn't explain your situation to her, she got the impression that you and your family were suffering a large struggle, but told you not to give up hope that everything would turn out all right in the end. If someone told you to give up hope, then she would tell them again and again that to hope was not wrong. It was a powerful emotion that carried humans through problems that they wouldn't be able to face otherwise.

It had saved her, and had saved her friends, even if it had cost the opportunity to be with them again.

As your family chatted with the woman, you slowly realized that the being you were drinking tea with wasn't human. To add another nail to the coffin, Shirou admitted to you that he smelled something… off about her, though he couldn't describe what.

Eventually, as the evening drew to a close and Zelretch put out a last call for drinks of tea, Penitent made a request of you. There was a 'Witch' that was going to attack Mitakihara in a couple years, sometime in April, and with the way she heard from Zelretch that things were, she doubted that the person who was supposed to deal with it normally would be able to do so. If you could go and help a 'Homura Akemi' the April after next, give her hope, then Penitent would be able to rest a little easier.

You didn't give a solid yes or no, but simply said that you'd have to think about it. There was a question of how she got her information, but when things didn't make sense, there was a simple response: blame Zelretch. Most often he wasn't involved, but even if he wasn't sometimes it was a pleasant idea to have someone to blame.

As Shirou practiced summoning demons so that they could remove some of the connections that your family had to the Yakuza without drawing attention to your family, you received a message from Darius Bannings in early September:

Merem Solomon had informed him that the Magic Association had gotten wind of the people from Mid-Childa, and their technology and their forms of magecraft. It was very likely that they were sending Enforcers over to stamp them out quickly before the news of magic or where the immigrants were coming from was made public. The way that they were going to do it, though, was to wipe out Uminari.

Instead of an exposure of immigrants or magecraft on the news, they would create a disaster on the news instead that removed the city from the map.

According to Darius Bannings, it was time to run.

Candi was pulling Kyoko off the streets, and the entire family was going to flee to Misaki City within a week, taking up the residence that the Sakura family had before they had moved to Mitakihara. The Tsuikimura family was also fleeing to Misaki, taking Fate, Arf, and Kyouya with them, and rooming with the Tohno family until they got more permanent residence in a home near the larger family.

On the other hand, the Takamachi family that still lived in Uminari would be fleeing to Mitakihara since the Moonlit presence in the city was light, and they didn't have any connections to the Moonlit World that they cared to make use of. The Harlaown family wasn't informed, but they likely knew something was going on with how the Moonlit families were fleeing, and would likely flee Earth altogether if they found out why everyone else was fleeing. Zelretch seemed to have closed up shop in the city, taking his entire Café with him and drawing the attention of a couple police officers.

Shirou wants to stay in Uminari until the last minute, getting as many people out of the city as possible. As much as that seems like a nice idea, the rest of your family has priorities.

Just what priorities are there? (Choose 2)

[X] Priority: Jailbreak: Maiya
Even though you can't really afford to feed so many mouths, the woman is one of your family, and she would likely be grateful if you managed to get her out of prison so that she won't be killed when the Enforcers arrived.

[X] Priority: Harlaown Family
While they don't know what is going on, they know something is up. What is more, they are likely targets of the Enforcers due to their status among the immigrants. Telling them what is going on will allow them to get enough time to flee.

[X] Priority: MBI
You were hired by MBI, and they possess things that would likely cause trouble if they fell into the hands of Magi. It might be a good idea to let them know danger is coming so that they can get their valuable materials out of magi hands.

[X] Priority: Civilian Evacuation
Shirou wants to save as many people as possible. By speaking with the Mayor to get an evacuation, there is the possibility that there will be survivors, but all they might do is buy time as the Enforcers hunt everyone down.

[X] Priority: Shirou
With the way your son is right now, it is likely that when you leave he'll try to stay behind to save as many people as possible, getting himself killed in the process. If you take some time to speak with him, you might be able to get some sense into him for the time being.

[X] Priority: Lodging with Another
Thanks to taking in Hayate, what money you have is spent on food to keep everyone alive. If you room with another Moonlit Family, or with the Harlaowns in the case of fleeing to Mid-Childa, you might be able to delay the costs of finding a new home for a while.

[X] Priority: Moving Advice
Using the knowledge you have, you may be able to convince a family to move to another city instead of their original targets.

[X] Priority: Moving Advice (2)
Multiple families are going headfirst into trouble, and you may be able to convince them to move elsewhere for safety.

[X] Prioirity: (Write-In?)
There might be something else you can do...

Where do you wish to move?

[X] Move: Mitakihara City
A Witch will be appearing in the city in a couple years, but the influence of the Moonlit World is a non-issue in the city. There is the matter of finding a place you can live there, but hopefully you could pay off anyplace you purchase within a few years... assuming the incoming Witch doesn't destroy it.

[X] Move: Misaki City
While there is a presence of the Moonlit World in this city, it is rather light, and two families that you have an understanding with are also moving there as well. There is the matter of finding a permanent place to live, but you should be able to find a place to live.

[X] Move: Fuyuki City
It's a bad idea, with the insane false priest living there and a Dead Apostle Ancestor, on top of the Corrupt Grail and the black spike in the ground, but you might be able to reclaim the Einzbern Castle from the renter there, or perhaps share residence with him (it's a big Castle).

[X] Move: (Write-In)
Maybe somewhere else (on Earth) would be better suited?

[X] Move: Mid-Childa
It would be a fresh start, away from the reputations that you have built through your lifetime on Earth. There is the matter of being refugees on a world tormented by the Cross, but you could run from that often enough so that your family remains safe. While you'd be able to access some resources, you would need to inform the Harlaown Family of what is going on first.

[X] Move: Duck and Cover
You have a relatively good life in Uminari, and while you will miss how the city has developed over the past few years, by hiding out in an out of the way location, the Enforcers will likely miss your family entirely, allowing you to move back in to rebuild once they leave.

[X] Move: Stand and Fight
It's possible that some your family will die, but it is also possible that you can kill this group of Enforcers. Shirou and Illya have been trained as magi, Irisviel's wires can be deadly if used correctly, and you are known in the Moonlit World (as well as the criminal world, it seems) as the Magus Killer. While this won't stop the Clock Tower, it would certainly slow them down enough to buy more time to get more done.

I've been chasing my tail trying to figure out how to do this, and while I'm not happy with the results, this seems like a good start.

Note that each year with the Yakuza, I've been rolling percentage dice to see if they got caught. At first, when they were restored, there was a 10% chance each year of them being caught, with 1% getting connections to either Kiritsugu and/or Maiya getting them arrested. After the first time of getting caught, that percentage of discovery got boosted to 20%, with the likelihood of getting family members arrested increasing to 5% normally. This year, a year where Maiya took a personal attention to improve income (thus placing greater risk to herself) 12 came up on the dice.

Good luck with your choices. Trouble is coming, and your choices here will decide how you will deal with them.

So, if we stand and fight, can we convince Iskandar and Waver (and their army) to back us up?

The mage association has now declared both of us as enemies, and as the common saying goes, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

At this point I think that completely destroying the secrecy of magecraft is probably our safest option, and that would be conducive to the world conquering goal of Iskandar and Waver. Also, it gives them the chance to gain a massive number of new recruits by being the heroes who successfully defended the city.

Edit:
Also, who knows, maybe this plan is crazy enough that Gilgamesh will decide to get involved just to see what interesting things happen as result of breaking the masquerade.

Ah, thank you for reminding me about Write-Ins for Priorities. You can spend some time getting the attention of Iskander and Waver to help out, if you wish; you just need a write-in action to do so.

i don't know if this will be my final vote but is what i think we should focus. one thing i insist is saving Maiya
ps. what you all think about Fuyuki?

Ah, thank you for reminding me about Write-Ins for Priorities. You can spend some time getting the attention of Iskander and Waver to help out, if you wish; you just need a write-in action to do so.
So we could potentially broker an alliance between Iskandar and TSAB to break the secrecy of magecraft, defend the city, and destroy the mage association (and also get pardoned by the Japanese government for our crimes)? At the very least, Iskandar and TSAB definitely agree on the policy of turning your defeated enemies into allies.

Also, would Zelretch be amused enough by that to ignore the fact that we're fighting against the international organization he founded?

i think that a plan for destroy the mage association is a long-term plan that need a lot of recursos e partners. but i dont know if such a plan is wise.

Well, destroy might be a bit strong of a word. I'm aiming for something more along the lines of making us completely independent of them (they won't send people to kill us in a few years) and making them unable to continue hiding from the rest of the world due to the secrecy of the Moonlit World being completely eliminated.

We actually do have a ton of tools at our disposal. If we come clean to the Japanese government and explain what's about to happen (proving that magecraft and extraterrestrials are real is trivially easy), then we've got the fill might of mundane Japan behind us, we'll definitely have TSAB behind us (especially the faction that wants to break the masquerade), and even the greatest of the mage association's Enforcers would be incredibly hard pressed to challenge a Heroic Spirit in battle, especially as powerful of one as Iskandar.

Between Iskandar's army and TSAB's mooks, we'd have plenty of soldiers to hold the line, a few TSAB spaceships would give us complete air superiority, and the mage association will VERY severely underestimate the power of the JSDF and it's mundane weaponry, which is something that Kiritsugu is an expert at exploiting.

Also, the moment the news breaks worldwide, the mage association would likely find itself fighting a war on countless fronts, because global governments will NOT be pleased to learn that there's a shadowy organization of supernatural stuff that's been operating behind their backs.

Edit:
Also, keep in mind that the mage association itself is absurdly tiny for a global organization. They are not prepared to fight a war, nor do they have the manpower to do so (unless someone like Zelretch steps in).

Additionally, we would likely be able to sway a large number of more moderate magi from young bloodlines to our side by appealing to their frustration at the elitist attitude of the mage association AND by deminstratio Midchildan magecraft and TSAB as proof that the association was wrong about all magecraft getting weaker when more people understand it.

@Random Tale There is a typo in Priority write-ins.

[X] Priority: Jailbreak: Maiya
Maiya is part of the family, saving her is primary.

[X] Priority: Shirou
It would be totally like him to do a heroic last stand to buy time for others to run. Make sure he doesn't kill himself somehow.

[X] Move: Misaki City
I wanted to go to Mitakihara, but if Walpurgisnacht happen there in the future, we would have to retreat in the worst case scenario, and I don't want to flee again. Better travel there for a month in two years.

Agreed. I think this priority and jailbreaking Maiya can be combined?

Are we still doing the other options? The priority just means the two most important ones right?

No. My plan involves cooperating with the mundane government, ending the secrecy of the Moonlit World, and coordinating the defense of Uminari against the assault by the Mage Association. If we pull that off, the heroic actions of ourselves and our allies, essential to the prevention of a major city getting wiped off the map, will likely result in Maiya receiving an official pardon (the emperor can still do that singlehandedly).

Opening up official diplomatic relations between Japan and TSAB would likely help her case a ton (especially if TSAB shares some of its glorious technology). After all, she was doing something philanthropic that was 100% impossible to do through legal means!
