Week 4 Results
Martial: Miss General has taken more than half of the Lackey Minion crew out for some hare-brained scheme to show Braveman just how amazing she is and thus win his affection. You can only respond with apathy and take the remaining lackeys with you to do something villainously constructive. You're pretty much the second Combat Commander at this point. Luckily for you, Miss General didn't take the RX Battlesuit with her. (Choose 1)
[X] Lackey Training: The Lackeys and Minions are woefully undertrained. It's time to fix that. For the next week or so, you're gonna be doing your best to train these group of weaklings to be less of a group of weaklings. It'll be tough since Miss General is liable to leave them in no condition to do training after mission but if you rotate between minion groups, you might be able to hammer in some training into these mooks. Cost: 50. Chance of Success: 90% Reward: Minion Forces less liable to be beaten up by children. Minion Forces become stronger. Increase relationship with Minion Forces.
Roll: 43
The training of the lackeys and minions goes well. A single week isn't really enough to get the minions or lackeys into shape so instead you try drilling in the basics of battle formations and how to punch stuff without hurting yourself, along with some basic tactics that are useful in a fight.
There are some ups and downs, mainly due to laziness from your fellow minions and lackeys but eventually they start getting the hang of things. By the end of the week, you can pretty much just call out a formation and the guys will quickly assume that formation and act as needed. They know how to punch without hurting themselves by accident and they've learnt how to cover each other's back. They also raised their ability to escape from dangerous situation as well which considering the nature of RX Group is a good thing.
All in all, the lackeys and minions of RX Group are now a more cohesive and effective fighting force. Which is really much to say considering how low the bar was but it is better than what they were before.
Reward: Increased combat effectiveness of all Minions and Lackeys.
Stewardship: RX Group's finances are holding steady for the time being. However, without an increase in resources, RX Group won't be able to grow into a proper villain group. You need to help Miss Secretary rectify these issues or else RX Group is gonna be stuck where it is right now. (Choose 1)
[X] Bigger Better Base: With the heroes' awareness of RX Group starting to vaguely rise as well as the influx of new troops, it's time to upgrade the RX Group HQ. Bigger barracks/living areas, better lab, traps, a decent meeting room, and not to mention the need to hide the entrance. Money will make the renovations a lot easier and better. Cost: 250. Chances of Success: 90%. Reward: Upgraded RX Group headquarters. Less likelihood of Heroes discovering Base. Feel like a proper supervillain.
Roll: 17
Expanding the base takes a lot of work due to the fact that half of it is buried under junk and metal. After futilely trying to move enough scrap metal to even begin trying to expand the base on the surface, Miss General in a rare moment of insight suggest that they try expanding the base downwards rather than upwards.
In hindsight, not only was it easier but it was also easier to hide. Of course, it was going to take longer due to having to carry in the construction material into the base. While no one was actually all that knowledgeable about construction work, Miss Scientist was surprising skilled in that kind of work and took to directing everyone in expanding the base.
It takes much time and sweat but eventually, RX Group's base is successfully expanded downwards, creating a fairly basic underground area that still needs to have utilities installed and what not but at least there's now enough space that you and the Lackeys no longer feel crap. The former barracks have been remade into a break room.
Reward: RX Group base upgraded. Still needs some work though. Barracks expanded. Break Room gained.
Diplomacy: You need help RX Group build connections with other villain groups. Heroes co-operate all the time and while villains are liable to backstab each other, collaborations are fine while they last. (Choose 1)
[X] Femme Fatales: The Rogue Roses is an all-female villain group currently operating in Ryuei City. Lead by the ever-elegant Rose Princess, they seek to take over the world to create a world of elegance, whatever that means. While their numbers are only a bit higher than your own group due to their strict membership requirements, they have both resources and connections. These ladies are not to be messed with lightly. Best put on your best suit when RX Group makes contact with them. Cost: 10. Chance of Success: 90%. Reward: Information on the Rogue Roses. Open up relations with the Rogue Roses.
Roll: 31
Meeting with a group of all female villains that are focused on beauty meant that not just anyone could be brought to the meeting. After much discussion and brainstorming, it was decided that only the Boss, Miss Secretary and a lackey in the RX Battlesuit would be going to the arranged meeting. The Boss because he was the boss, Miss Secretary because she was female and quite elegant in her ways, and the RX Battlesuit because no-one could tell what gender the wearer was especially with the voice changer on.
Miss General was upset that she wasn't allowed to join them but conceded after Miss Secretary thoroughly explained why Miss General was not going. After all, Miss General could only be described as the opposite of elegant. She might have a nice figure but her femininity rating was rather terrible all things considered. Everyone else was a dude or not elegant enough. Miss Scientist didn't care and the Lackeys were all Lackeys.
You were just cool but not elegant so you didn't get to go.
When the Boss and Miss Secretary returned from the meeting, they informed everyone that an understanding has been made between the Rogue Roses and RX Group. And to celebrate said understanding, the Rogue Roses were apparently sending someone to act as a liaison in RX Group.
The Boss seemed pleased with the entire thing but Miss Secretary appeared annoyed with the whole deal with the Rogue Roses. You later found out that the Leader of the Rogue Roses, Rose Princess had been impressed by Miss Secretary and her "elegant" and heavy-handed methods of keeping the Boss on track of thing and had tried to recruit Miss Secretary there and then.
Miss Secretary blunt refusal only served to awaken the inner masochist in Rose Princess.
It was apparent that Miss Secretary really didn't want anything to do with the Rogue Roses but thanks to this, RX Group was also doing an exchange of information and resources with the all-female group.
Welp, some sacrifices have to be made in the name of villainy.
Reward: Support Link Rogue Roses unlocked. + 50 Trade Income gained. A new villain unit will be arriving next turn. Miss Secretary is not amused.
Intrigue: RX Group is far from being excellent in the spying game but what you have right now works well enough. However, as things are heating up, RX Group will need to be able to make more moves from behind the scenes in order to achieve their goals. (Choose 1)
[X] Countering the Covenant Capture Crew: The Covenant has followed your trail to Ryuei City. However, they do not know that you've changed greatly since they last saw you. With a bit of work and some luck, you can make it so that they'll never be able to figure out that you're now a member of RX Group. You won't be able to kick them out but you can keep them from finding you. Cost: 100. Chance of Success: 50% Reward: Greatly lower chances of Covenant progressing in their search for you.
Roll: 52
It is a very close thing. The Covenant agents had been better than you had been expecting or perhaps you had overestimated your capabilities. During your attempts to throw the Covenant Agents off your trail, there were moments and several close calls where the Covenant almost found you. Luckily, your fellow Lackeys helped you out.
While they didn't know what the deal was with you and the Covenant, they treated the matter the same as they did Miss General's adoration of Braveman. With the numbers on your side, as well as a lack of dignity to care about, you and the Lackeys were able to keep the Covenant Agents from finding you.
It was also thanks to a bit of luck that they managed to lose your trail after you spectacularly crashed the RX Battlevan into the computer server that held some past transactions you had made in Ryuei City before you joined RX Group which would have allowed the Covenant to make some progress in their search.
Of course, doing something so open and daring brought some attention to RX Group but all the other villains assumed that you had done it in order mess up the plans of the Hero League which you coincidentally did by accident.
Still, the only made the Covenant more determined to find you and for the time being, have decided to continue their search in the city. At least it won't be an easy thing for them to accomplish.
Reward: Greatly lower chances of Covenant progressing in their search for you. Drawn the ire of the Hero League by accident due to destroying transaction records of some hero deal.
Learning: Miss Scientist has been perfecting the Monster Creation process along with some other side projects. Miss General's already out trying to test a hypnosis potion on Braveman. With your help, Miss Scientist might be able to finish one of her bigger projects this week. It is time for some mad science! (Choose 1)
[X] Experimental Weaponry Testing: Miss Scientist, during her breaks between working on her big projects, likes to tinker and make all kinds of stuff. Your job here will be to help Miss Scientist test out the excess products of her imagination and genius. Hopefully, nothing will explode in your face. Cost: 0. Chance of Success: 50% Reward: Minions get equipped with actual weapons
Roll: 75
"Hey, what does this do?" Lackey A asks as he lifted up a rather fancy looking gun.
"Oh that? That's a shrink ray" Miss Scientist answered. Not elaborating further. "Test it by shooting someone."
Shrugging their shoulders, Lackey A shot the target that had been set up for this weapon testing. *Zap* A bolt of blue energy fires from the gun and perfectly hits the target. However, nothing happens.
"Er...I think this gun is broken." Due to the way the gun was constructed, it looked like it was being held together by lots of duct tape. Truly something that was slapped together at the last minute.
"Of course not. Try it on someone. Don't worry, it's non-lethal." Miss Scientist informed the lackey.
"Wait, if it's non-lethal, what's the point of having – " Lackey B was interrupted when Lackey A did as Miss Scientist suggested.
*Zap*
On Lackey B.
"Gah! What the hell!? You – OH GOD MY PANTS! IT HURTS!" Lackey B fell to the ground as his clothes started to shrink very noticeably.
"…Are his clothes shrinking?" Lackey C asked, watching the scene with fascinated horror.
"Hahahaha! Due to some limitations, my shrink ray only works on clothing. However, as you can, it is quite effective in subduing a person."
"Oh god! It's riding up my ass!" The Lackeys couldn't help but wince at Lackey B's situation.
"Oooh, that's one hell of a wedgie."
"Kukuku, here. Try this one." Miss Scientist handed one of the minions what looked like a neon green grenade.
"A grenade?"
"I recommend throwing it outside."
"Er, sure. I guess."
Later that day, a new report about a freak tornado appearing in Ryuei City's junkyard made its way onto TV.
Reward: All Lackeys have access to a series of effective non-lethal weaponry. +10 to all combat rolls. Research Income increased.
Ideology: You're rising up the ranks of evil yet you're still kinda unsure about what being evil is really all about. However, you've got some prime example of evil around you and you oughta take notes from them. Of course, some evils might be better left ignored. At the very least, it'll be a good bonding exercise to talk about evil. (Choose 1)
[X] The Mad Scientist: Miss Scientist is in charge of developing and creating new toys for the RX Group to play with as well as making Monsters to terrorise the city. However, you know little about the woman behind the swirly glasses. With her expertise, she could have easily found a bigger, more famous group to join. Why is she here with RX Group instead? Cost: 0. Chance of Success: 70% Reward: Increased relationship with Miss Scientist. Increased Learning.
Roll: 30
You hung out with Miss Scientist often this week, helping her with her projects and side duties. Being a multi-talented genius, Miss Scientist's contributions to RX Group were quite significant. Without her knowledge and skills, RX Group would probably still be mostly sending out Miss General and the original three lackeys to harass Braveman.
Which was a viable and respectable course of action, considering Braveman was the biggest threat to RX Group. At least until you showed up and helped motivate everyone into aiming higher.
Still, you don't really get to learn much about the scientist other than she really enjoys her work. Her lab was full of all kinds of gadgets and inventions that were either pointless or didn't do what they were meant to do right. But you could see that she put her all into whatever she wanted to create.
Helping here in the lab helped you learn a few things about the crazy science that was going on. Still, a lot of it was just goes over your head but you learnt a few things or two about maintaining highly delicate science equipment. You even got to meet the future test subject who would be undergoing the Monster modification process to become a human-type monster of RX Group.
You had to admit that in a proper organisation, Miss Scientist probably wouldn't be as happy there as she is here. After all, the Boss gave her free reign to pretty much do whatever experiments she wanted.
At least you figure out that Miss Scientist is mostly in it for the science and not any real prestige or crap like that.
Reward: Increased relationship with Miss Scientist. +1 Learning.
Personal: You've got some free time to spare after you've done your chores and assigned duties. (Choose 1)
[X] Knowledge is Power: Learning is something that never ends and you've been feeling the need to touch up on your knowledge base. Miss Scientist has some old textbooks for you to study from as well as some reference books as well. This should help you learn what to do if the doomsday device is malfunctioning. Cost: 0. Chance of Success: 90% Reward: Increased Learning. Possible Increase of Stewardship.
Roll: 7
You tried to learn. Really, you did. But every time you looked at a book, a sudden urge to do literally anything else overtook you. During one of those times, you decided to balance a bunch of books on your head.
While balancing on a chair.
Needless to say, it went horribly.
Fortunately your enhanced body was able to take a good deal of punishment and you only managed to knock yourself out. However, when you woke up, you found yourself in some basement doing some kind of occult ritual with an unconscious girl in the middle of a bloody magic circle while holding a knife.
After freeing the girl and dumping her someplace far away from where you had found her, you returned to base with a haunted look. This has been the first time since coming to RX Group that your ghostly admirer had hijacked your body and tried to gain a body by your hands.
You give up on trying learning through textbooks after this debacle and try researching methods to exorcise this crazy ghost stalker of yours.
No increase in learning. Ghost Stalker is becoming more pro-active. Everyone is uneasy around you for a couple of days.
