Dragon-Forged Chains [Dragon!Jumpchain w/ Celestial Forge]

Story is a Longhaul mode, death is not a cause for chain failure. Should Gauntlets block OOC powers?

  • Yes, Powers should be blocked as normal. Still is a steam breathing Dragon though.

fair.
I do think perks carry over between forms at least...
and who knows?
being able to switch between Big Dragon, and Small Humanoid, might come in handy...dodging attacks, hitting harder at the last second...e.t.c
Yep. And for the moment, morodai is shorter on all fours than the average human. But he's gonna grow quite a bit over the centuries.

I already have starbound in my jump roster list. The tech will be interesting. It is one I do want to have happen, may the dice bless the dragon. Hehehe~
Also. Starbound will get the frackin' universe treatment. I view that as an essential mod. Good tech and somewhat normal crafting systems rather than supertech genericality
Ok what does fraking universe do again?

Ok what does fraking universe do again?
It is technically an overhaul/expansion mod for the entire base game giving a greater breadth and depth to basically all aspects of the gameplay. More dungeons. More ships.custom ships. A tech tree, new weapon types. New weapons and armor. Material refining, some basic automation. New plants. Bioengineering. New augments, and much more. It gives ways even to make tech cards upgrade modules and matter manipulator modules.

Chapter 7: Meet (the) Market
Chapter 7: Meet (the) Market

I see the town coming into view properly, rounding a bend in the dirt road passing by the community center building, in the state of disrepair. I continue on and then come across the stairs... That's a problem I overlooked. Demetrius spots my hesitation before I turn the cart around and get out of the harness, had to check some things.

He watches me, curious but letting me figure out what I want to do, to which I am thankful for. My cart isn't too wide. The stairs are decently wide. I sigh and start to push the cart, a bit awkwardly in reverse to the stairs. At least they are straight and not curving.

Demetrius watches as I work out exactly how I'm going to do this. "Kobolds, you might want to either hop off or hang on. I suggest the first one." I watch as they do and I take hold of the rope carefully with my teeth and push the first wheels over the edge. I did make the tongues pivot up and down at least, I thank my past self for, as I ease the wagon to the tip point... Aiming carefully as it does tip and clatters slowly down the steps as I dig my claws in to keep it controlled.

I feel my Kobolds holding my tail like a rope to make sure if I slip they might be of help, my wings at the ready to flap in a pull just in case.

It is slow going, but I'm getting it down the steps... Noisily. Of course this does attract some attention, but nothing I can do about it right now as I ease the six wheeled cart down the stairs. I am glad I made it with six wheels. It would have gotten stuck possibly on the lips of the stairs.

Eventually metal touches stone instead of wood, and I get the rest down. I let the rope go with a steam billowing sigh. Demetrius walks down, scribbling down in his notebook, on observations on me and what I've told him. I push the cart further from the stairs and then hook back up to turn it around, heading for Pierre's store. I see some human whelps watching me. Children, with eyes wide with wonder at seeing a dragon, I think. Maybe some fear. However Demetrius being nearby might be helping my case as I leave the cart with the Kobolds as I head inside, the researcher hot on my tail.

Pierre starts to speak at the bell on the door ringing, "welc...ome?" He pauses a bit, mouth open before I give a nod of the head. With a moment and a few blinks of his eyes he seems to recognize me. "Morodai? Been a while since I saw you. Lewis came and mentioned you arrived. Sorry. Not used to seeing you around."

I give a soft smile and walk into the store calmly as Demetrius comes in as well. Probably wanting to observe as much as possible for his research. Pierre pushes his glasses back up on his nose briefly.

"Hey there. Yeah. Figured I'd come by and sell some stuff from my farm. Getting it back to working order. I can't really expect Lewis to drive out in the night to my farm every night. It's rougher terrain, and a good distance, afterall." Pierre gives a polite nod. "That sounds quite nice of you. I'll be sure to let Lewis know when I see him next. He'll probably like that."

"So, want to come take a look or want me to have my helpers bring the stuff in?" I ask, to which he pauses and thinks about that for a moment. "Go ahead and have the produce brought in I think. Helpers?" He asks before I call out in draconic, <"Come on in with the goods."> Voice just a bit louder than indoor conversation levels. The doors get pushed open after a moment as Kobolds start to come in with baskets of sorted and good looking foraged plants.

Pierre for the most part jumped a little, before I comment. " These are Kobolds, distant cousins of dragons. They've been helping me get my farm up and running." He gives a nod as the first basket full of dandelions then then there was the leeks, Followed by the Wild Horseradishes, Daffodils, and then the Morel Mushrooms, as well as some of the wild potatoes. A few baskets each being brought in, the most being Dandelions.

Pierre's eyes widened, as he saw the volume of foraged goods i brought to him, face lighting up with joy, Probably at the prospect of commerce brought to him. "And these are just what you obtained clearing some of your land?" he asks, with excitement. I nod. "This is actually just a portion of it. I was hoping to get some initial gold to get started with purchasing new crop seed. and something to Carry the Gold in, maybe some old bag even."

He gives a quick nod, and then asks, "Do you want to leave the baskets too, or take them back with you? how did you and your... kobolds carry all this?" he asks, to which Demetrius pipes up, "Actually, He has a cart, seems that he made it himself. Walked by my place with it. I made a sketch of it here." Demetrius presents the notepad, after flipping through it, to a quickly drawn outline I would imagine, to show Pierre. "Oh, I want to see this for myself." I step aside, with a smirk, the kobolds piling the baskets together. I do answer the question, "well, I can leave these baskets with you, and maybe pick them up with my next delivery."

Pierre nods, seeming fine with the deal for now. "That works for me. I'll tuck them away somewhere, and work with you on that." he heads out the door, with Demetrius following, with me taking up the last, as the kobolds dart out infront of me. Pierre looks the cart over, walking around and such.

"hmm.. looks nice, and probably sturdy. good room for produce by the looks of it. I'm no carpenter, but I can appreciate good logistics." Demetrius nods in agreement. "I'll have to wonder what Robin will think of it. Would you mind letting her look at it, when we go back past my place, Morodai?" I give a nod, eager to see what the carpenter and builder would think of my own work, that was quickly done.

I head back into the store with Pierre following not far behind me. "So, Pierre, how much for what I brought you?" He ponders for a bit looking all the baskets over, looking through them. There was quite a bit in each one as well, but not unwieldy for him. Convenient really. Pierre starts to go through the baskets of goods, taking some time to examine them, sorting some of the higher value ones i could tell, from the rest, keeping consistent it seems, counting, punching numbers into a counting machine, as he starts to sweat a little, but also grow quite a manic grin, that starts to gain a mad giggle.

"well... Morodai. This is a very sizable delivery, that you brought to me. Some that I'd call Silver-star Quality, even. quite impressive this early in spring, to be honest. I'll need to double check my numbers. But.. I think you'll like the numbers, but there's a bit of bad news." he alludes to, with a large pause as he recounts, writing on a piece of paper as well, leaving me waiting.

I'm going to Cliffhanger/tease about the amount of gold here, but I'll let you try and do the math if you want here. also, 80 acres without an arbitrary foraging item limit has alot of greenery. I am breaking it into 'units' that the game uses. they were randomly rolled for how much was brought, and what quality.

Chapter 8: Talking shop, Shopping Talk
Chapter 8: Talking shop, Shopping Talk
POV: Pierre

I go over the numbers again, checking the forage that Morodai brought in with his helpers. Rechecking it again even quicker, it comes out the same. I don't have the gold coins to give to him for this much right away, but, I can't help but grin, I can make this work, even if I have to give, Store Credit, for now. I might be able to make a good profit, with Allan, and Moreso, Morodai. "41,609 gold." I say to the dragon, with Demetrius watching us both, and the kobolds, I think Morodai called them.

POV: Morodai

"41,609 gold." is what I hear from a grinning Pierre. I blink at him, and then he continues. "That's quite a bit. for all this foraged goods you brought to me. I did not expect you to bring such a large haul. It must have been alot of work to find it all. but, I can't pay you, right away. I don't have the gold to give to you, YET. I'll have to give you store credit, for now... and the balance we will settle when I can get my own payment from selling these." he says. I give a small grin. this works.. for now.

"I didn't expect to be walking out of here with a cart full of gold, actually. Credit is fine. I trust you to keep the score kept... but leading into that, That was roughly half of what was gathered actually." Pierre exclaims with a shocked look. "Yoba's Light! Half?!" IT wasn't just Pierre, exclaiming 'half', either. Demetrius was startled by the volume. "Yes. Half. It's amazing what my kobolds can do, with a Forested farm left fallow for a few years." i shrug a bit. "Anyway, I'm going to want to put in orders for some special items, Pierre, if you'd be willing." he blinks a bit, getting back on track to business. "I'm wanting to order some backpacks for my kobolds, fit for their size... soo roughly, Child size, something decently durable ideally. Around Fifty." Again they gawp at the number. "You have fifty Kobolds working for you?" Pierre asks, to which i shake my head with a grin. "no. Around one hundred."

Pierre facepalms a bit. "Right.. of course..." he scrunches his face, while Demetrius scribbles furiously a bit, and comments towards Pierre. "Pierre, I'm going to want to buy some new notebooks, probably several dozen, soon." I figured i knew why. Pierre nods, "Of course, Demetrius... Morodai, Might I also suggest some clothes for them? I know you don't need them, but it might be less.. odd for the others in town, if They see your Kobolds, in normal clothes?" I hum a little, thinking, before nodding. "Sure. I'll let you pick them out, You know more than I do about fashion."

Pierre nods at this with a smirk, before writing something down. "I'll see what I can do about getting these purchased cheap in bulk. It may take a few days of course. Now... How much seed and starters do you want?" I tap my claws to my chin. "I'm thinking of a medium bag, of each, parsnips, potatoes, kale, green beans and cauliflower." Each bag was a decent size, but not too massive. And all said it would cost just a bit more than half my store credit.

Pierre does some quick math and nods. "Each bag is around 100 packets of seeds. I use those packets for gardeners, usually. I'll be charging you right about 28,000 gold for unopened bags. Does that work for you?" He asks to which I nod. I still had a large bank of owed gold to use, that would be for outfitting my Kobolds. They might enjoy the fashion.

Pierre goes into the back and pulls out a bag with some grunting before I leave a wing. " Wait. Let me help." I try to touch a bit of his clothes and infuse it with some magic. Ant haul, enhancing how much he can carry. "Bit of a trick I know, will temporarily help you carry those bags." He blinks at me and looks at the bag next to him that he just was carrying. He looks back at me before shrugging and testing, trying to pick up the bag like normal before yelling and staggering as he overcompensated and nearly falls backwards.

He is quite surprised as is Demetrius, who his looking at Pierre, who is holding a bag he had been having a mild issue with just a moment ago, have no trouble with it other that it's bulk and shifting. He does keep on his feet and sets the bag down. "It will last for around an hour." Pierre looks surprised, and goes and gets another sack of seeds for me, the first was the Parsnips, the second coming one, was Kale. Pierre giggling a bit to himself, as he brings out the Green beans, and then Cauliflower, followed by potato seeds. I touch a small bangle to give myself the same enhancement, to load the bags onto myself, carefully.

Pierre then asks, "Is there a way I could... do that without you here, or maybe I could pay for your time? I think i could use this in reorganizing my stockroom, or maybe some other things!" Pierre looked rather giddy, not caring the how, but the utility of my magic. that brought a smile to me. "well, I could do some work, it'll take some time, but I could make something to bestow that effect. But, of course, It would have a cost. We could come to an agreement about it later, though, if you'd like." Demetrius was quite intently focused on his notebook, pen wagging about furiously.

I smirk as Pierre thinks for a moment, humming a bit. "it would greatly help me out, I wouldn't have to risk throwing out my back doing things..." he murmurs tapping his chin, trying to parse what he thought the value of such a thing was. I try to not grin too much as I get the bags out to my cart and load them there myself. My Kobolds were waving to the children that were nearby, having come back outside with me.

It looks like I might have two effective businesses at the yeast. I bet I could improve things around here for my neighbors with some small magic crafts, Runeforged or enchanted. Possibly both. I think I should go over to Clint's before he closes up shop, as well. I poke my head into the store and call out, "Heading for Clint's place." Just as a courtesy before I go and get into the rope harness of my wagon.

It's lighter even with the seeds, as they are dry afterall. The results will be weightier for certain. With some time to make it I get to infront of the blacksmith's, the smell of the forge a familiar one to both memories. I get loose of my ropes and open the door, poking my head in. "Hey Clint!" I call out.

A surprised face, with sharp blue eyes is what I see inside before I almost get a hammer thrown at me. Clint settles down as I make my way inside calmly. he puts his hand on his chest, panting a little. "M-Morodai! You... You startled me!" My earfins droop a little. "Sorry about that. Just glad I got here before you closed shop." This helps him relax, as I smile a little, only two fangs barely visible, still.

"I've recently gotten back into town, and I've started work on my farm. I've got helpers now, and will likely be buying some gear and tools from you. Allan is also new in town, The farm out west of town? That's the one." Clint smiles softly. "glad to see you back around, Morodai. It's been a while since we talked... Still workin' the forge... Fixing tools, mostly... Still... n-nevermind." he says, looking away shyly. I pick up on him blushing just the slightest, but I leave it be. "Anyway, Just wanted to let you know, that I'm back, and business might pick up for you soon."

He smiles a bit through his orange beard and mustache. "Thank you, Morodai. You going to be needing blueprints for a smelter, probably, living up in the hills, I heard your farm has good ores that surface occasionally." he tosses a roll of paper from the counter to me, which I rear up and catch quickly. "That'll show you how to make a good one, that'll pour the ore into an ingot on it's own. quite useful." I set down on three limbs, holding the blueprint/schematic with a handclaw, smiling to him.

"Thanks. Maybe Allen will want one too... once the blockage to the mines is cleared up. Hope that hasn't been too rough on business for you." I comment. he shrugs. "I've got a decent enough stockpile, but yeah... helps that work's been slow over the winter. Anyway... I'm going to be Closing up shop, and getting to work on a project before hitting the Stardrop." I give a wing-wave as I head back for the door. "Thanks again, Clint, Sorry for the scare. Have a good evening." I say, heading out, tossing the paper roll to the kobolds on the cart, before getting back into the harness. <"Time to take ourselves home, my kobolds."> I say to them in Draconic. <"We need to get these seeds set up soon!"> I add, enthusiastically.

I wonder what other magical things he can do?
Well, he's got basically the entire breadth of arcane magic within his reach from D&D, some access to divine class magic as well, through items mostly, such as most D&D healing. he's great at enhancing gear of all sorts. He has a second method of empowering items, that is compatable with some work, with his existing knowledge. He CAN cast spells directly. and he's got his natural dragon magics, along with being a Forge Wyrm, gifted at crafting in general in ways only a dragon can. Him using his steam breath was more than just for the heat, afterall.

That is one of his classes of magical skill. Wizard, alchemist and artificer al-a Eberron style.
Nice.
I'm imagining him making some Iron defenders, and other mechanical animals.
Can't have the Kobolds doing ALL the work after all...
Might even be able to make ones that can be used as wingpacks for the Kobolds...let them fly around

Hehehehe. Eventually. Construct crafting is not easy right now. He's basically low level in all three classes afterall. Also Kobolds love having work to do generally.

I hope for a restaurant from another world jump. I imagine his meeting with the dragons would be great and the guests meeting a not god-tier dragon would be interesting too.

oddly enough i kinda want to see him jumping into a setting where things aren't exactly as they seem...
the designated good guys aren't exactly innocent, and the designated bad guys have reasons for what they do, with the good guys being guilty of the things the say the bad guys did as well.
like WoW for example.

Well, i have more than one Azeroth-based jump document in the roster, including the Azeroth Document itself. I look forward to the possibility of him getting such things. Also, i can tweak settings if i get such an idea to. to keep the readers on their toes.

I'll need to look that one up, actually. it's not one i have in my list, I'll need to do research of course for it.
