Distance Learning for fun and profit...

Are people being typical again? Against a person providing practically free entertainment in a free-to-leave-if-you-don't-like-it forum?
Weird how that works.

@mp3.1415player Just keep doing your thing. Please.

They're entitled to their opinions even if I disagree with them :)

And I intend to. ONLY DEATH WILL STOP ME WORDING! AND EVEN THAT MAY NOT DO IT!!

Or something along those lines...

I see no reason to write depressing shit. I prefer to write interesting shit. Interesting to me anyway, and by the number of people who follow my stories it appears interesting to others too :)

And I can write, and have written, various things where there are bad problems, but I also try to solve those problems. Ideally without killing everyone in the room although that's an option every now and then. Right here and now, it isn't with the exception of the S9 who have just been dealt with in the most suitable manner. Note that this doesn't mean that Carol is immediately going to do a 180 and become a sensible person, but it also doesn't mean she'll utterly ignore what happened and revert to type instantly. I'm not writing canon 'Worm' after all

People can learn. Whether they can learn fast enough, though...

🤷‍♂️

We shall see.

And if you want to read something where stupid people do stupid things, the world gets steadily worse, and nothing seems to help, there's always the news! It's nicely realistic and absolutely no one is 'hypercompetent.' Or even apparently 'adequately competent...'

Hence why I write interesting shit ;)
Oh, I wasn't complaining that you never write bad/negative things. I was complaining that you took one look at the grimdark/derp genre, and declared that you could make something just as silly and nonsensical trying to go in the opposite direction. Hence my comment on how, if you haven't/hadn't been on record that it is entirely not meant to be satire, I would have assumed that your stories were satirical deconstructions of grimdark/derp literature.

But the ultimate irony is more that I wasn't complaining at you about your not writing negativity into your stories, but rather I was complaining at the people that keep asking when the common sense consequence to actions and behaviors of people that really should experience such consequences regarding their behavior were to kick in. For some reason four out of every ten commenter, on average, keep asking when the negative, nitty gritty, realism is going to make an appearance, and, well... I seem to be the only one bothering to tell people that you don't do grimdark/derp stories. Others, if they answer them at all, basically gaslight them about expectations. {edit} Or, at least, it certainly feels/seems that way from my perspective.

Oh, yeah, I'm not denying that :D

I happen to like humor, and a more lighthearted approach to writing. Some people want the exact opposite and it's not my place to tell them they're wrong, because honestly they're not. As I've said, many times, there's no one right way to write anything. People will like or dislike any possible story no matter what you do, often for the exact same reason.

I would expect by now that most of my regulars would realize that I'm unlikely to pull defeat from the jaws of victory just to make some sort of point about how horrible people can be. That's what the news is for. But on the other hand, perhaps one day I will do that just to keep everyone wondering...

But on the whole few of my stories are likely to go the route Worm itself does, and a lot of its fans seem to want. I'm not trying to hide that. As I've said, I could write that sort of thing but I just don't want to. It's much more fun to do the sort of thing I do, which seems to be reasonably popular too. Something that always mildly surprises me and makes me quite happy :)

And as I've said, we don't yet know how Carol will react, but she's not likely to do a complete about-face in one shot. The woman has issues...

She also has people watching, so we'll see how things turn out.

I think part of reason most people complain about your writing style is that it's different. Something that's different just takes a while to catch on. Take HP lovecrafts work as an example or van gogh.

Which is generally a good thing. While I've occasionally seen them used well, most of the time they tend to suck the life out a story they appear in if they aren't killed off pretty quickly.

The S9 basically exist purely to make things as bad as possible, then take it further. I can't see any real point to that myself, so I prefer to nuke them from orbit :D

It's rather satisfying.

*shakes fist* You haven't nuked them from orbit even once! They haven't been hit with nuclear weapons, and they've never been hit from orbit!

I realise full well that most of what you do to them is way more interesting, (I kinda both do and do not want to see what Mal would do to them if they rolled up in Brockton Bay) but don't tease! Either drop from orbit, or give up claiming you do that!:p

To be fair, most of mp3's stories haven't had any orbital vehicles to deliver said Nukes yet.

Carol doesn't just have issues, she has multiple lifetime subscriptions. :drevil:
NO, this 'verse's Caron has issues - some of the other versions have full Compilation editions, or even Libaries. Take for example the version of her from 'Mandalore the Administrator' (which was sadly ended after only a few chapters due to RL) where Carol tries to Report Amy as mastered because she was... Healing People. Or the version of her from 'The little ship that could' who actively attacks shipgirl Taylor for taking down HOOKWOLF. Far too many Carols are, to quote south park ' Crazzzy Peoples.'

I was thinking Giger, myself.

Well, then, perhaps I should add more women?
That depends on the context - dare I speculate that we may actually see a MPpi ficca with T getting a harem someday?
