Distance Learning for fun and profit...

Hehehe

Oh my god she turned the Smurf into a Com Node for the shards network which is now turning into their data-facebook as well as made a computer that will have the NSA director selling his soul for.

Also right now Cauldron must be in panic mode since the whole path must have just split into a million little pieces and flown apart.

... If the Simurgh has her Taylor Varga characterization, a lot of people on PHO are likely very relieved Winged One and her siblings got out of their troublesome familiy situation, thanks to 'Aunt Min' pulling some legal fu :)

I doubt that the endbringer truce will end anytime soon. The Endbringers are still there after all, just suspiciously quiet.
(of the Simurgh) "She's just floating there... MENACINGLY!"

Meanwhile Winged One, newly freed from her horrible home situation, is indulging in her favourite pastime (trolling PHO) while figuring out what she wants to do with her life after Taylor and 'Aunt Min' build a new relay system.

Prank Eidolon in his civilian identity. Sit outside his home, peeking in the windows when he's there. Follow him to and from work, grocery store, etc. Kind of a childish "I'm not touching you" cranked up way past 11.

But, only in his civilian identity. If he so much as starts glowing or another person shows up, they NOPE out at max speed leaving no evidence, just a very confused Eidolon who keeps crying wolf.

QA: slaps roof of Taylor This bad boy can hold so much [DATA]

I honestly love the frequent trope of QA just saying 'fuck Warrior and the Cycle, this Host gives me so much tasty tasty [DATA]!'

So, 'conflict drive' is disabled, but anyone betting on there not being a silent directive added 'protect best !host'?

As Admin's information showed her, the node had originally selected her father for observation as a possible host, then a few years after she herself had been born, it had seen something in her that caused it to start watching her instead. She was still trying to work out exactly how it had figured out that it could gain better information and knowledge if it simply watched from a distance rather than used the standard methods it was supposed to. She suspected that once it had made the conceptual leap to passive observation rather than active interference as being something that would produce higher-quality data it had rewritten its own core programming to facilitate the operation, and in the process co-opted quite a lot of other lower-level nodes and turned them to the task. Probably including some simulation ones, the nodes that provided precog powers as they were known to humanity.

Oh my, guess we finally know why Brockton Bay became a blind spot for Contessa.

True. But what are the other ones?

Well, before you can host a beach party, obviously you first have to make a beach.

This explains why Coil has yet to prove himself to be an idiot on a multi-galactic scale. This and no conflict drive would explain the silence from the Undersiders.

As others mentioned, Coil has been nabbed by the FBI. And the Undersiders got recruited by federal agencies.

I wonder if she can now also connect to other univerces / earths with Parahumans?

Also is Taylor going to do a network wide upgrade to deal with the conflict drive?

I...

Uh...

Well. That happened.
I... don't know what to say.

So... I'll just laugh like a total maniac, one moment.

...

...

Ok, done for now.
Holy shit, did this go off the deep end fast. Last chapter Taylor was just opening communications, and now she is already rewriting major parts of ShardOS. Wait...
Does that mean she technically has a master effect on every parahuman in the world? Since the Shards can affect mental processes and she can tell the Shards what to do?
...
Yeah, better do keep quiet about that part as well, for, like, forever.

Also, QA is forever and ever the best Shard ever. And if you don't agree, she can and will throw a Ziz at you.
*back to laughing maniacally*

You mean you wouldn't have them write 'Eidolon is a prick' in the local Protectorate HQ's parking lot?
Have them hire a lawyer, to sue Eidolon for Mastering them into attacking all those cities? Might be a very interesting way to stall the "Bad Canary" case...

Heck, just imagine the court case: "The Defendant will disable those alarms, and refrain from attempting to rally an army of capes to attack the plaintiffs, or I will have to hold him in contempt of court. Now, we will have a brief recess, in accordance with standing restrictions regarding exposure to the Simurgh."

So many questions - does laws apply to the Simurgh, and if yes, parahuman ones? After all, no Corona Pollentia and no Gemma ...

If they can prove that the Grassman ordered the Simurgh to attack, they arguably wouldn't need the laws to apply to the Simurgh - that's mass assault with a parahuman power every three months since Behemoth first showed up if they aren't considered more than projections, and probably much the same if they are (under the basis that if you give the order to do something, you are to some extent liable for the foreseeable consequences of such).
If they can prove that the Grassman sent the order. Not an especially good word, that 'if '.

I'm kinda wondering what happens when people start freaking about a hypothetical 4th master/stranger endbringer having propped up, and Taylor is eventually given little choice but to say "I kinda had an inkling and think I may have found a way to turn them off. WIP, but you know, seems to have worked, so hopefully no more Endbringers attacks. Why are you all turning red?"

Turning off the Endbringers, even in isolation, justifies every cent they gave her. Being able to say, even vaguely, that the US government has been able to solve the Endbringer issue would be... worldchanging. Plus it would slam the US front and center as having solved the single biggest threat to the world. President for life, national holidays, beer sales quadruple, etc...

I will see that and raise you another idea..

Okay, Aunt Min was able to pull some legal fu thanks to her partner Taylor helping out. Now give it a few weeks of Winged One talking about how Aunt Taylor is helping out the entire family - her siblings, her cousins, Aunt Taylor is doing her best to help everyone. Life advice, just a shoulder to cry on, and so on. She's wonderful.

How long do you think before the Shards get as emotionally invested as they can in Taylor? And how long before they come to the horrifying realization that their new Aunt has a terminal condition - she's going to grow old and die some day.

Winged One's reaction to that is going to be epic. (To say nothing of what the Shards are going to do - with or without their partners' eager participation..)

Gaslighting Eidolon?
Unfortunately YT doesn't seem to have the full episode, but this is enough to get the gist.

Then you expand the fun.

Arriving too fast for anyone to get to the shelters, instead of her usual song, a green-faced Simurgh stops holding back and pulls a Cuban Pete skit on everybody in Houston, parahumans very much included, dances with and kisses Eidolon and flies away while everyone is doing a city-wide conga line - no deaths, no actual ziz bombs, but massive paranoia.

Have the Simurgh descend to LA and land on the beach while the Behemoth pops out of the sand with a "Friendbringers live in LA" banner and the Leviathan climbs up on land, she puts on a pair of prop glasses with a moustache and a cigar, and they proceed to do a slapping, eye-poking, nose-honking number; one has a lot of eyes, another just one, and both get slapped by the Simurgh's wings whenever she turns around. They bail out as suddenly as they arrived, leaving the PHO to discuss why did the Simurgh used Groucho Marx props on a Three Stooges skit (and the Winged One asking how much of it was Buster Keaton's influence).

How long would it take for them to be sort of redeemed from extinction hazards to flash mob trolls?

Yes, thank you for pointing the first part out for a second time. I am fairly certain that I missed it the first time.
Also thank you for pointing what happened to the Undersiders.

Worrying about what Coil and Undersiders are doing in the background is merely an ingrained habit from other fics where the protagonists are more cautious and are not able to simply steamroll over problems.

I noticed something that I hope is just me getting things wrong.

But in Taylors and Dannys little heart to heart, did they imply that Taylor is responsible for Emmas condition? (Or possibly Annettes absense, but more likely the former.)
