I should then attempt to convince her to talk and apologize the people that she has been living with before I try to help her improve her circumstances.
While I'd like to recruit her, I don't feel like she's mentally stable enough at the moment.

Total Number of Votes: 7 I thought that I would return to this thread to find a lot of people that put up a vote for [X] Take Her With Me and a couple of people that put up a vote for [X] Improve Her Circumstances. I thought that some people would have attempted to convince other people that they needed to recruit Maureen because of her [ Precognition ] and her [ Ice Manipulation ]: her statement about how she thought the people she lived with didn't care for her: and her obvious attachment to Susan Graham. But, instead, I find people seemingly ignoring how useful it would be to have Maureen on the Dockside Devils and focusing on improving Maureen's relationships and mental well-being.

I can't speak for anyone else, but to go a quest by the author of Dr. Taylor Jookiba and tell him I wanted to make this mentally unstable girl into a child soldier... I might as well close my account and check myself into therapy.

I have decided to rewrite Dr. Taylor Jookiba so that it could reasonably take place within Worm. The tinker handbook that Wildbow created and posted on reddit has been a huge help as it helped me determine what kind of tinker that Taylor would be and what she could reasonably be expected to accomplish within certain amounts of time. The information that Wildbow has supplied about the PRT and/or Protectorate to help flesh out Worm has also been a huge help.
I haven't made that much progress with the rewrite: I have completed the first one third and/or one half of the prologue. It takes place from the perspective of Experiment 001 -- Doubledip -- as he wakes up in the Lab until the time that Taylor returns. I intend for the first chapter to take place immediately after or sometime after that point and focus on her life and all of the changes that have happened since she triggered.
Some notable changes:
-Taylor did not have the same trigger event as her canon counterpart.
-Taylor did not told her dad about being a superhero.
-Taylor did not made her lab in the basement of her house.
-Taylor did make Experiment 001, but he has a number of useful augmentations.
Planned changes:
-Actually writing a press conference if Taylor joins New Wave.
-Doc will be unable to cure Case 53.

IIRC, we just had an alternate 'Child's Play' toy fight. Next is Sons of the Fathers, not really plot-signifigant in the long run, but the item after that is...
Winter 2001 A.D.: Edwin Alva Jr. discovers Static's secret identity.
Hm... going by the assumption of November being 'fall'.

I know that there hasn't been an update -- which I plan to rectify this weekend if nothing unexpected happens -- but there is something that I feel like I need to mention.
I wasn't able to make that much progress with the edits in the last couple of months: I hit a figurative wall when I tried to reword the former chapter four when I was in the midst of revising and editing it and, no matter how hard I tried to force it, it wouldn't come out. I wasn't actually able to finish it until the start of this last week while I was at my cousin's house five-to-five babysitting my second cousin.
I am now proud to inform everyone that I have finished the revision of the first four chapters -- which I have nested into 'Episode One: Human Slime' -- and will be continuing the revision while my second cousin is sleeping, the internet is working and the creative juices are a flowing. At the rate I'm going, I should be able to finish revising between three to six chapters per week. Which sounds like a bad thing when I think about it, but... it gives me a chance to insert a couple of QM Notes that people might be interested in about what I was feeling and/or hints at what is going to happen in the future.
So... I guess that that's it until someone sees and points out what's in one of my QM Notes.
Quest Master's Note: I was somewhat surprised to see how many people liked and were interested in this type of Quest. Hopefully, I will be continue to be somewhat entertaining.
Eh, its often hard to predict what will be popular and what won't be.
I don't think anyone expected Shed Skin to have over a hundred voters by the second(?) vote.
Quest Master's Note: To all of those people that are disappointed that [ Slime Physiology ] won and either [ Aura Generation ], [ Cervid Physiology ] or [ Earth Manipulation ] did not: I plan to include characters with those same powers at some point in Bang Baby's future. These characters might not appear for some time -- as their appearance is dependent on what route the Main Character takes and what the Main Character does -- but all three of them will eventually appear.
It will, after all, take some time for those characters to create and/or establish and then start to recruit other people into their separate street gangs.
I made the third replicant clone hold out its hand. Maureen didn't even look at the hand, instead taking couple of steps forward, and suddenly I felt her arms wrap around the third replicant clone and then pull it close to her. I didn't hesitate, making the third replicant clone throw its arms around her, returning the tight hug.
"I believe you." Maureen whispered roughly. "I believe you."
"I know." I made the third replicant clone pull back after a couple of moments, not enough to let of Maureen completely, and met her eyes. "I don't know how much time that I can spend here with everything that is going on right now, but I can promise you that I will spend as much time here with you as I can, Maureen."
"Can't -- Can't you...?"
There was a part of me that was tempted to tell Maureen that I could take her with me. I knew that Maureen wouldn't object if I took her with me and -- after I had told the others about Maureen -- the others wouldn't be able to object either. I would be able to make sure that Maureen had proper clothes, food, a warm place to sleep, and others that would understand her and help her learn how to use her powers.
But that would also be drawing Maureen into a life that she wouldn't want. I didn't want to draw her into the kind of life I lived. She wouldn't complain, but I knew how she had felt about all of the supposedly bad things that she had done. If Maureen was to be drawn into my kind of life, the guilt and the shame that she felt over what she did would destroy her.
I wouldn't allow that to happen to Maureen.
"I'm sorry, but I can't." I made the third replicant clone state. "I want to take you with me, but I can't. It's -- It's too dangerous." Maureen lowered her head. I made the third replicant clone put a hand under her chin and tilt it back up. "But.... But, I will spend as much time with you as I can. I won't leave you alone. Alright?"
"... Alright." Maureen said after a short moment.
"Alright." I made the third replicant clone step back. "I think that it's time that we dealt with the mess that the both of us have made." I made the third replicant clone look around them, toward the men and women huddled into the corner and then look back at Maureen. "Okay?"
Maureen stared at the third replicant clone for a moment before she nodded. She lifted her hands into the air and closed her eyes.
The snow that had clung to the bottom of the third replicant clone's pants melted and turned the clothing damp as well as the snow that had made it to the sleeves and bottom of its shirt, and while unpleasant, I ignored it. I could see the same thing happening to the snow on Maureen, the men and women huddling in the corner and the floor.
Maureen's face scrunched up in concentration. The third replicant clone stopped feeling cold. She opened dark purple eyes after a moment, blinked and then slumped her shoulders in relief.

"What do you want?" The woman that had been feeding her child spoonful's of canned food managed to get out, her voice hoarse and a lot deeper than before, as she stared at Maureen "Haven't you done enough?"
Maureen lowered her head.
I made the third replicant clone step forward. "What happened was my fault. I said something to Maureen that really upset her and made her lash out at me." The woman turned to look at it. Other men and women started to whisper. "Maureen did not intend for you to be caught up in it as well -- and she didn't notice what was happening until I pointed it out to her."
"I'm sorry." Maureen whispered almost too quietly to hear. "I shouldn't have done that. I really shouldn't have done that."
"You're right." The woman spat. "You have. I don't know why we ever--"
"That's enough." Johnson interrupted the woman before she could finish. The woman pursed her lips, - but didn't continue. Johnson looked toward the third replicant clone and Maureen. "I don't know what happened between the two of you, but if it was serious enough to drive Maureen to do all of this....." He looked up at the third replicant clone's eyes. "Then -- then I am afraid that I will have to ask you to leave. now." ⇒[X] Here Come's The Flurry:
⇒[X] Leave The Depot: I don't know if what I said managed to convince all of them that what happened wasn't Maureen's fault, but it seems that I have at least convinced Johnson. Since he is asking me to leave, I should listen to him and leave the Dakota City Cable Car Depot.
⇒[X] Stay In The Depot: I don't know if what I said managed to convince all of them that what happened wasn't Maureen's fault, but it seems that I have at least convinced Johnson. But... I haven't talked to them as much as I had wanted to. I should stay and continue trying to talk to them.

"Hey." I felt someone start to shake my shoulder. "I know that you're probably really tired, but you're going to have to wake up if you don't want to miss the bus."
I blinked and then opened my eyes to find the man that I had been sitting next to on the bench standing over me. He smiled when he saw that I was awake before he pointed a hand toward the bus moving in their direction. I nodded slowly to show that I understood before I rose to my feet.

Horrible woman. She must be working for the meta breed.

We've burned this bridge. No point in trying to cross it now.

Ended about as expected. Back to the next time skip and training sequence!
