People should probably remember that the Technocracy isn't going to ignore it if a a Syndicate member is randomly attacked by Pentex (a known enemy) in broad daylight. When this is over there are going to be Technocrats swarming over us to investigate what happened. Doing something very intensely reality deviant with a bow (which, let's face it, is the only way we'd actually be able to do anything against a werewolf) might not be a good idea.

[X] Pick up a strange gun. Like the ones you saw Ms. Jenkins and Rob using. Unwieldy, arcane, but they do more damage. You might leave a bigger mark. Might even fight your way out. Heh.

On the other hand, plasmagunning is perfectly inside the Technoparadigm and could just as equally give us a chance to awaken
This is a better reason, but I raise you this:

What if I want to be Hawkeye :V

By which I mean Hand Lakshmi the gun and Let us use the Bow. Laksmi awakens technocracy, We become a Snarklord.

Yeah, but i doubt she's going to hold it against us when there's, y'know, FUCKING WEREWOLVES.

If she gets pissed off at us for that, her priorities have quite frankly hit rock bottom, got technocrat bullshit, and bored to the earths core, before planting a doomsday device and blowing up the planet, because Fuck the Police.

Um...I wasn't arguing against it?

I was saying 'Only thing we can do soley" is actually powerful thematically?

Being a Technocrat with a suppressed mystical former reincarnation hardly prevents us from being a snarklord. Actually it's the ideal situation for it.

Believe me, I know this one from experience. We're setting ourselves up for a trippy dream sequence later on wherein we trade sarcastic remarks with Confucius whoever our reincarnation is

[X] Pick up the bow. Just a toy in comparison to all the other weapons. You've never fired at a moving target. At a person. But you know how to use it. Draw and release.

Something familiar beats something strange in this situation I feel. Plus bows are awesome, accept no substitutes. :D

By Snarklord I meant Archer Class Servant. I know it's in a different Universe, but I will Fucking see us in the Throne of Heroes :V

Come on now. Its so thematically appopriate, how can I not vote for it?

You know, from a practical point of view it probably made sense for Rob and Ms.Jenkins to come in as well.

:C

Because out of all the options this is the one that gives us the highest chance of shooting it right in the furry dick before we die. And tbh that's definitely worth it.

(Not to say that the other options aren't without merits: in terms of pure utilitarian "buy as much time as you can" the high-tech gun's pretty ace and has the best chance of doing damage but we'd have little control for focus with it and there's an accordingly high risk of "somehow fuck stuff up even more", the mundane gun trades off higher damage for more finesse, and the machete is maximum HOT BLOODED. Plus I'm pretty sure this option is also setting our preferred weapon and shit and, y'know, bows for the fucking win.)

Zerb, could we have saved Rob if we went full Rip and Tear?

I doubt it. Like even if we somehow hulked out into the lovechild of Ahnald and a second, even buffer, Ahnald there's only so much you can do against werewolves. Silver and Primium are the solid go-to's but if a killer robot and Ms. Mercer aren't putting it down with the best tools available then, well, I dunno what you'd expect Meghanada to do. :V

(Also I'm sorta betting that Mr. Furry Fuckface Esq is channeling some particular bullshit, he ripped down the door and was the first one into the Technocratic killing ground and just didn't give a shiiiiiit. So that means he's either young and stupid or old and strong and since he's not dead yet I'm going with the latter.)

Yeah but here's the thing:

We're in urban Sydney and Australia tends to take a pretty hard approach against gun stuff. An attack like this, in the Union's literal backyard, with this kind of firepower, should be sending up red flags all over the city. So there should be a legion of angry CNT bodybuilders rappelling in from a black helicopter to clean this shit up. But there isn't. Like this is something that flat out shouldn't be happening.

Which lends itself to two possible situations:
1. We're cut off from the rest of the city and what's happening here is being hidden. We couldn't reach dad. They came disguised as cops to get in close. There was planning and, presumably, a lot of preparation that went into this.

2. We're not cut off from the rest of the Union, there's just nobody there to pick up the phone. If Pentex is slinging around a Black Spiral Dancer pack and what is probably an absolute fuckload of fomori then it's entirely possible that we're not the only location being hit.

Idk which is worse honestly. :V

But it's worth noting that, canonically, Pentex has a fair number of Mages working for it too. Particularly Union defectors. You can pull off a lot of bullshit with a handful of cooperating Mages.

But they're fancy supermodern high-tech bows. And the Technocracy put them in their super secret bunker.
Doesn't that change anything?
I know very little about this setting.

Okay, right, can someone give me a slightly more informative than general infodump on the factions of oWoD? Because I'm tired of not knowing what those words you're saying mean.

All Werewolves are monstrous assholes.

But Pentex is an evil Captain Planet Villain Corporation Cosmic Horror served by corrupted evil Werewolves called the Black Spiral Dancers, who are evil beyond evilness.

Mages are split into the Traditions and the Technocracy, the latter of which is a fan-favorite on this board, actually.

Primium's some special mage bullshit I'm not quite sure about but it fucks shit up good, and Werewolves get fucked up by silver.

Exactly why I'd wanna do it, really. "What are we supposed to do about the technocrat kid who accidentally did RD stuff in self defense" should be interesting to watch, and it's not out of character.

What about Hunters? Or vampires? Or any other spiritual bogeymen?

I want to know a little bit of as much as possible basically.

Well, Hunters in oWoD suck ass. Okay, I admit I don't like oWoD as a general whole, but nobody cares about Hunter: The R-something. Reckoning? They're weird guys chosen by God to hunt monsters, or something like that.

Vampires are divided between Camarilla and Sabbat. Camarilla are horrible and control huge parts of the world and suck. The Sabbat is worse, or at least they want to tear down the Masquerade and rule humans openly, and so they don't really try to even pretend not to be domineering assholes (which the Cammies obviously fail at because they're vampires, but 'There was an attempt.gif.')

Basically literally everyone sucks and nWoD is better.

/ Totally not a biased analysis at all, I swear!

I have no problem with picking up the bow (and in fact voted for it), but if our body turns out to be made of arrows we are turning this shit around.

I'm tempted to go with the knife, but the bow feels right.

Yeah but that's the boring, safe option.

If we can't get a terminator robot from the future, we'll be the terminator Archer from the future present. :D

They're not trying to survive, they're trying to buy us time. Tbh they probably fully expect the invaders to come crashing through.

Okay, right, can someone give me a slightly more informative than general infodump on the factions of oWoD? Because I'm tired of not knowing what those words you're saying mean.

It...depends honestly, oWoD is such a slurry of factions and conspiracies and shit whose exact composition depends largely on what gameline you're working off of and the ST (or, in this case, Zerban's) person interpretation. But here's who seems to be in play atm:

Pentex: Multinational corporation, like if Standard Oil had a baby with the Umbrella Corporation and it was raised by Weyland-Yutani. They serve this huge spirit/alien (the difference is sorta academic in oWoD) god of corruption and entropy called the Wyrm. The primary antagonists of Werewolf the Apocalypse besides, y'know, other werewolves. Canonically they're basically just super edgy 90's eco-villains but it's widely agreed that that's retarded. So Zerban might have reworked them some. They have access to demons, limited-high technology stuff, and a variety of allies ranging from Vampire Terrorist Crusaders (the Sabbat) to Black Spiral Dancers.

Honestly it's just my best guess that this is them but their fingerprints are all over it. Ostensibly human faces that just come off as wrong. BSD's. Working within a modern, urban/suburban context. The attack takes place during the day and on Technocratic turf so vampires are right out. And wolves usually don't have the resources to put together this kind of strike on their own.

Black Spiral Dancers: Giant furry doomtanks that serve the Wyrm. Generally united by the overall goal of hate-fucking the world to death and exterminating humanity.

Fomori: Resident Evil monsters pretending to be people. Infested with Wyrmish spirits called Banes. Major staple of Pentex's arsenal. Most likely the people who were swarming earlier.

Technocracy: The governing conspiracy that essentially rules huge swathes of the modern world. Their power is based is technological stuff (shockingly). Plasma-cannons, killer robotos, etc. They have bases and installations in most major cities. Daddy Dane's probably a member of the Syndicate, which is the subdivision of the Technocracy that manages the flow of wealth and manipulates the economy.

What about Hunters? Or vampires? Or any other spiritual bogeymen?

I want to know a little bit of as much as possible basically.

oh jeez that is uh

not gonna happen

We have zero experience with firearms of any kind, grabbing a firearm with no training in how to use it during a home invasion AUTOMATICALLY makes you part of the problem, not the solution, we'd be more likely to kill ourselves or Sis than accomplish anything productive.

That's not strictly true, we've fired hunting rifles a few times.

Like, uh, during...Corps. ._.
