...So Ventrue is Clan Umadbro?

Let me quote 4chan for you;

Rich, Ralph-Lauren wearing asshole vampires. Think Gordon Gekko from Wall Street, except instead of going to jail like a pussy, Gekko mind-controls the investigators, drains the guys who ratted him out dry, and pins the murders on a drifter. Tend to be the ones in charge in the Camarilla because until the Tremere showed up no one really wanted the job of dealing with the shit that vampires do which breaks the Masquerade, and their mind-control powers and general dickery helps with that. They used to be nobility in Europe, but now they're merchants. Except their antitribu, who like to play SCA crusader dress up.

[X] Pick up the bow. Just a toy in comparison to all the other weapons. You've never fired at a moving target. At a person. But you know how to use it. Draw and release.

It'll turn out in retrospect that this was actually the Karna 5000 prototype edition (because we totes couldn't be a reality deviant) which is how it managed to blow the werewolf off a dick rather than the other way around.

Bows have a long and impressive history in Hindu mythology. I don't see why we shouldn't. What's more, keeping a bow as our chosen weapon will help when we inevitably have to deal with an area with a Traditionalist Paradigm - plasma guns might overheat and kill everyone within 10 feet, but a bow will just keep on going.

Unless it's Sons of Ether or Virtual Adepts. Then we'll just have to use the plasmagun.

We have zero experience with firearms of any kind, grabbing a firearm with no training in how to use it during a home invasion AUTOMATICALLY makes you part of the problem, not the solution, we'd be more likely to kill ourselves or Sis than accomplish anything productive.

Indeed.

Not to mention that we have a much greater chance of awakening if we work with something we actually resonate with.

Agreed.

For one thing, if we awaken our Origin of arrow, we'd need a bigger bow.

Well, i don't now you, but i want an Astra. Old Mage is one of those few settings where you can have a proper one.

*Guy kinda uninterested in wider Natsu stuff is confused*
Astra is not actualy something from Nasuverse, its from Hindu mythology. It is basicaly a divine weapon.

Since we are of Indian origin, the archery background is interesting because some (like me) are hoping that we can get (or at least replicate the effects of) certain Astras that relate to archery. Like the bows that shoot nuclear explosions, or rains of magical swords and axes, or hit Perfectly like an Exalted Perfect Attack unless the opponent has a unique hax defense against it.

Astras are fun. Bows that can fire arrows so hard they can push a chariot that has an Avatar of the Godhead on it against his will are particularly fun.*

*Actual feat of Karna, just about the most bullshit broken archer in any mythology I know of.

Astras are basically divine superweapons in Hindu canon. A lot of gods had one personal to them, a lot of heroes amassed a bunch. They ranged from shit like impossibly perfect homing arrows and poisoned bolts to "exterminate an army with a rain of armor piercing shafts" and "just drop an entire fucking mountain on your head" to reality ending ones.

Which really doesn't have to step outside the Technocracy paradigm at all. We'd just be Hawkeye/Green Arrow with exponentially more funding.

Now watch and see how Gough hunts... whatever the fuck we're fighting. Sorry, I know nothing owod/wod related and am completely fine with Jon Snowing it for this quest.

Check the wikipedia article on Astra for more details and a comprehensive list. Very fascinating.

Of note, you can applicate the effects of any Astra* with the proper Spheres.**

*(Well, ok, to destroy the universe in a hit you would need a lot of successes.)

**(Mainly Forces 5).

For the complete newbie to oWoD that I am, what *exactly* is the Technocracy's paradigm?

Technology. All of it. Ranging from 'literally just technology we have right now' to 'Someday we will have laser guns...that day is tomorrow when they arrive in the mail.'

And it interprets everything as 'mundane.'

Like, you aren't using Mind Rotes or whatnot to become super-smart and think fast, you're taking a drug that speeds up the mental process, or using a mind trick you learned the same way people who memorize a lot of numbers aren't doing magic (or are they?).

A gun is a 'Forces' effect, as it were.

Or you just say "I am very smart" and use that as your Mind Focus.

(Note, this requires to be actually smart, just as using a bow as a Foci for a desintegration effects requires to have a bow at hand).

I had heard Indian mythology was insane...

I thought people were joking when they said Asura's Wrath was pretty accurate to the source material feats wise...

:o I was wrong.

Why aren't we playing a Marauder who thinks he's a Hindu Deity again?

And since SV is addicted to science-wank, they're very popular on SV in general. I mean, it's helped by the fact that certain people who are pretty good writers/worldbuilders like the Technocracy and thus write it well enough to attract people to it as a faction/idea.

Like this thread... (call is coming from inside the house) :V

Because many people here like technology, even when they use pure magic to get it. :lol

Also paradox bullshit.

Its not like Hindu mythology can't be perfectly reimagined as a sci-fantasy setting:

Take the shot Meg.

Take.

The.

Dad doesn't seem like a biochauvinist. Also, it doesn't seem like we're going to survive this intact. I think we're going to end up being more Prophet than Green Arrow.

After all, as long as the brain's intact, they can rebuild you. And even then, it just needs to be mostly intact.
