-[2] the black rock source 66+5=71 (bare success)
[] Develop something (this will be slow)
[X]sunrise Develop something - black rock

The black rocks, now called Obsidian by the tribe, prove very interesting to the tribe. While searching the area where the large black rock was found has only found three more rocks (each around the size of 2-3 fingers), nothing compared to the hundreds that were visible at the heart of the valley, examination of the rocks them been nothing short of amazing.
While a fair more fragile then other stones, some of it's flakes have edges sharper then any the tribe has seen before, and short of breaking them outright, dose not seem to lose the edge. properly developed, the stone would make unparralled cutting tools. As a weapon, it's uses are more limited due to it's fragile nature, being to prone to breaking at the wrong moment.
Still, the tribe now has some very good tools to use inside the settlement and are confident they can improve the creations of these obsidian blades, cutting down upon the waste rock that are to small or thin to use in a tool. Though they worry that they will go through their supplies of this wonderous rock before then.
(Obsidian shaping: 9/30 auto=2, Resource obsidian reviled. 2 units obsidian acquired. Auto progress will consume 1 unit of obsidian. actions concerning will consume a unit of obsidian)

[3] Concentrate on Gathering food wise (70 bare success)
[3] Yes (-1 food supply, + basket weaving)

The new baskets prove quite easy to make once you know the technique behind them. They prove quite easy to make, and vastly increases the amount of gatherables the various wandering members of the tribe can carry with them. During the cold months when the tribe gathers together they bring a lot more varity with them for the tribe to get through the cold months, increasing the stability and diversity of the food the tribe has during these pressing months.
(+1 food stability, -1 food supply, Basket weaving gained)
(no starvation roll: 4, dose not activate)

The Runner tribe head to the north east soon afterwords, and are last seen at the edge of the lake there. They say they plan to follow the mountains east, hopefully to find a decent place with a lot less danger to settle within a few years.

???: 44 (nothing)
There is some unusually calm weather this generation, with slightly less rain and slightly warmer cold months. Some of the older generation even swear that the river seems slightly smaller then when they were kids, but most people dismiss their ramblings.

Singer tribe: 13
the fight against the wolves is not going well, while they are managing to fight them off quite successfully with our help, to much of their time is being taken up by these fights. Fewer of them are pulling off successful hunts. Gathering groups are being forced to turn back sooner to avoid the wolves. while they are far from starving, this is defiantly a down-turn for them.

eehh..
before I do the rolls and everything else.. I have to confess that I'm not just feeling this game anymore. participation is so few each turn, and splitting attagion between it and the SB game no longer feels right. so...

This will be the last turn for the Stonekin tribe, and I will be discontinuing the game after the update. I will write a bit on the direction I see the stonekin and the singer tribe eventualy ending up on. They will continue to exist in the SB game,a nd might eventualy be encountered there. so, on with the rolls.

Edit:rolls are in and... yhea, another reason I don't want to keep the game going. your rolls are cursed.
TerrisH threw 5 100-faced dice. Reason: turn rolls Total: 165

A stone age Civilization Q

For many generations the tribe has traveled across the great plain, always looking for a place of their own. Several times they thought they found one, only to be forced to leave shortly. Due to drought drying up the nearby streams. Due the local wildlife and forgeable thinning till the...

Turn 8, final notes
[] Find and scout more of the giant wolf dens. (43 neutral)
It started out so well, with Stonekin scouts venturing out to the north and finding not just one, but two of the wolfs dens. They were able to thoroughly scout them and the area around them, which proved very useful in the latter attack upon one of them.
The first was on the southwest shore of the lake, among a small clump of fallen trees. It was deemed to the more difficult to attack due to the many openings into the den, allowing the wolves to easily flee with their pups in an attack, unless the tribes divided their forces to cover them all. but if the tribes did that, there would not be enough tribesmen in a single direction to stop the wolves should they decide to feel all in one direction.
The second den was on the southwest shore of the lake, tucked in a small caves in the hill. It was an almost identical situation to the last den the tribes attacked, a small clearing with a single cave the wolves kept their pups in. This was the site the tribes ultimately decided to attack.

[] Attack a wolf den alongside the Singer tribe (48+10=58 neutral)
-[] Sunrise: Attack a wolf den alongside the Singer tribe
Singer tribe: (27)
Near the end of this generation the tribes gathered together and set out to eliminate another of the wolves dens. This time the attack went down even smoother then the last one, the Stonekin engaged the wolves in melee with singer backing them up from range. The only major injury was one of the singer tribe losing the lower half of his lower arm.
then.. things went bad. the two tribes had set up a camp on their way back to the singers settlement. high on their victory over the wolves, they failed to post guards for the night, overconfident and lazy.
When an entire wolf back descended upon the camp, the surprise was total. Most of our tribe survived, if mauled, as the wolves mostly went for arms and legs. as soon as they were woken up by the pain and the screams of those around them, they were able to apply their stoneskin and fight the wolves off. The only two to actually die was more to bad luck, one getting their throat ripped open in the initial attack, the other having their leg removed at the hip by the alpha wolf of the pack, bleeding out in minutes. the remainder were able to dive the wolves out quickly afterwards without much trouble, as the wolves did not seem to want to prolong the fight.
The singer tribe died to the man. they lacked our ability to harden our skin, nor our skills in close combat. half of them died in the first ten seconds of the surprise attack. the rest perished from their wounds before they could be carried back to the singers settlement.
The seeker tribe is now effectively dead, with over half it's adult population dead. they lack the manpower to care for their children, to forage, to hunt, and to defend the settlement. It's only with the help of our tribe that they are managing to persist in any form.
(singer tribe is defunct, 2 tribesmen dead, one wolf den destroyed)

[] Develop something (this will be slow)
-[]Better tools (40/60, Auto=8) (24 fail)
Progress is slow, as the tribe hits a stumbling block in improving their tools, mainly, a shortage of stone of the right size and shape to be turned into the tools. it's not until near the end of the generation that the tribe finds a source to sustain the tribes needs. (48/60, auto=1)

???: (23 really?)
Another tribe has appeared in the south-west corner of the valley. Or at least the tribe thinks so. Only fleeting glimpses of them have been seen by the tribe, nor has the location of their settlement been identified, as they seem to actively avoiding contact with us or the singer tribe.

------------------------------
Ending notes:
In addition to the standard action list, the tribe would have had an additional vote on what to do with the singer tribe. If they would let them merge into the tribe, help them start a migration to a new location further to the south, or do not help them at all (which they would then migrate south out of the valley and have ill will towards the tribe).

there would also be a choice to stay at the current settlement, or move to the singers settlement.
the current settlement is farther from the wolves and the area around it is better known, but it's not on the river anymore, and it's main attraction (the caves) is no longer accessible for the most part. the singers actually has a wooden wall around it, is in a more central location in the valley, and is on the river. but it's much closer to the wolves and the heart of the valley(which would incur a mood penalty).
the tribe could also have decided to move to another location entirely.

the two votes could have amplified the results of the, for example the singer merging with the tribe and moving to the singers settlement would have given you most of their tech.

tribe to the southwest is very paranoid and not fleshed out beyond that. they would not start off freindly, but would not attack unless the tribe pressed them.

The wolves are about as intelligent as an eight year old child, and are sentient. while not capable of useing or making tools, they are very good at tactics and were actively planning retaliations on the tribes in response to the destruction of their dens.
you likely would not be gaining much ground against them after this turn, until you managed to "tame" some of them (likely through capturing some of their pups) or gained another advantage over them. obsidian weapons(tech after obsidian shaping) and better tools together would have met that criteria. brining in another tribe, or getting over 100 adults would have also been suitable milestones.

to the north past the wolves are a half dozen allied tribes, which the singer were part of before the wolves attacked. relations would depend on what you did to the singer tribe in this turns vote.
tribe that went east settled about 2 tiles offscreen, and contact would have been re-established with them if you explored in that direction. the food you gave them helped them a lot.
beyond that, a small eruption is planed to take place around turn 20, in the wast half of the valley. not a major problem for the tribe except for a large one turn forest fire.

If you have any other questions about the game, I'll answer them the best I can, unless they would spoil the SB's game.

ah, Yhea, I need to update my signature. linke will be there in just a few minutes.

What would have completing Better tools have given us?
better stone tools.

Game mechanics wise, it would have been a +1 to food supply simply from getting it, and a bunch of narrative advantages. cost of construction projects (like building barricades and the caves) would have dropped, slightly better hunting results when the roll goes right, better combat results on a positive roll, ect..
