Turn 1, Actions Turn 2
Exploration: (79+5 pass, artifical crit)
The exploration of the vally durring the warmer months gose quite well, with half the tribe dispersing across the valley. Most stay relatively close to the settlement, within one weeks travel time, but quite a few wander as far as they can from it each year. There were five locations of note explored over these early years.
The first was the large cave system to the west, one of the sites initially considered as place to camp for the winter when they arrived in the valley(14). for almost a month they traveled, trekking though the forest of the valley, encountering no serious issues other then a pack of wolves shadowing them for a few days. Yet few considered this a good trip, given the grizzly sight and smells found at the end of the trip. The stench was overpowering as they approached the cave entrance, emanating from the many corpses scattered all around it. Two great bears rotting in the sun, hundreds of bats half decomposed, and a wolf that seems to have died while trying to eat the corpses of the bear. The limited vegetation around the caves entrance is also dead, covered in yellow dust. None of the explores wish to go near scene, and almost immediately depart to get away from this cursed location. they wanted no part to whatever killed these creatures, and prevented scavengers from consuming their corpses.
The second was to the north and the shores of the lake, via following the river(99). Again, the trip went well, with no trouble other then some wolves shadowing the group. The lake was quite spectacular, the ice cold and crystal clear water sparkling in the sunlight. A good place to camp was quickly found, not to far from the shore, with plenty of gatherables nearby. the expedition ended up staying there for most of the year, only leaving in order to make it back to the settlement for the cold months.
the third was up river of the settlement. A tiny valley along the river with steep sides, ending in a large waterfall over which the river flowed, almost 4 man heights tall. getting to the top of this cliff was tricky, and revealed a small lake behind it, and blocking any further exploration upriver at this time. A large stream also joined the river near the bottom of the waterfall.
the fourth location of note were some pools of scalding water two days north from the settlement. a fair distance into the forest, with was stumbled upon by some gatherers looking for mushrooms. the heat from them was hot enough to be felt from several feet away, and no vegetation grew near them. while they were a bit in wonder of it initially, the need to find food for the settlement soon made them continue onward, leaving these strange pools.
They had hardly left the sight of the pools before a great pilliar of water errupted behind them, spraying several times higher then the treetops. the gatherers panicked and ran, desperately fleeing from this strange event. the area around the pools is now considered cursed, and none of the tribe will approach the area.
The last area of note was another set of pools. found on the southern side of the river, and located by following a small stream into the forest to them, they were only luke warm in temperature, even as the time approached the cold months, and were heavily overgrown with vegetation, with quite a bit of the vegetation being berry bushes. this location would be often visited by the tribe in the later years, as gatherable grew scarcer near the settlement.
General
Building better shelters for the cold months (95+10=105 pass, Nat crit, 100+)
Improving the quality of the shelters for the cold months went quite smoothly. fallen logs and thinker branches were hauled from the forest to the caved entrance, positioned and placed to form a framework for shelters near entrance of the cave. larger game was brought down to provide hides to stretch over them, making a more solid roof to hold off the snow and rain.
And the cave was more thoroughly explored, to find the best places to store supplies and for the children and elders to sleep in during the cold months. Several passages to additional caves deeper in the hill were quickly found, though they were not quite large enough for an adult to pass through, leaving the exploration to several of the older children, who were told not to go to far into them. initially these areas were planed for storage, du to only the children able to reach them. But the first cold-months after their discover revealed something interesting, some of these area's stayed warm no matter how cold it was outside cave. Efforts were quickly made to expand the openings to these chambers, both to permit the adults to enter them, and improve the movement of the heated air to the cave at large. This was fairly slow going, using the tribes tools to slowly chip away at the stone, and it would likely be generations before it would be completed. (heated caves discovered, Project: Expand passages to heated caves (3/70) started. increased by 2 each turn, action will speed this up.)
Concentrate on Gathering food wise (12 fail, Crit)
The efforts to gather more food went quite well initially, and led to a small boom in tribes births during the first year. Unfortunately, they were a little to enthusiastic due to the abundance. By the third year, most gatherables within a days travel of the settlement had been picked cleaned or died to over harvesting. while there was still plenty to eat in the valley, the effort to gather that food has become slightly more time consuming. the tribe has to go slightly further to get enough each trip, making their food situation slightly less stable. (-food stability)
Overall, these early years of the settlement have been good for the tribe. despite some setbacks, the tribes food situation is still quite good. the tribes shelters for the cold months are no quickly built things, but ones made with care, strong enough to stand in all but the harshest winters. more of the valley has been explored, exposing more of it's wonders to the tribe.

Map:
Know areas is the entire map as the tribe knows it. The more detailed a tile is, the better explored it is overall. a tile of a solid color is almost completely unexplored.
Well explored area is the area that the tribe regularly travels, and is fresh in their memories.
