Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest

How Dice Rolls Work
Character sheet is here.

Dice rolls are 1d10 + Stat + Proficiency + any applicable bonuses, such as Boons.

You may spend 3 Tension to Overdrive for a retroactive +5 to your roll (a Determination Overdrive), or +3 to an ally's roll (a Teamwork Overdrive). I will also automatically overdrive to avoid exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It is possible to critically succeed (on +5 on skill checks and +10 on combat rolls) or critically fail (by the same margins), but rolling a 1 or a 10 does not automatically crit in either case. It is possible to crit retroactively by Overdriving.

Your stat bonuses have names:
  • Vigor grants a Strength bonus.
  • Agility grants a Dexterity bonus.
  • Spirit grants an Aura bonus.
  • Mind grants an Intuition bonus.
  • Resolve grants a Guts bonus.
Dice are rolled on a first come, first serve bonus. You only roll for Deedee.

[X] Get Ace on the conference call and defer to Alesha; she's the Company battlemaster for a reason.
[X] A name I might have heard before, if I can just remember where... (Moderate Mind-based Wikiwalk roll)

[X] Break through the line and meet Alesha; hit Ace with Zephyr's Grace and let her rip.

-We're both offsense-based, let's blitz our way back to the tank and get to work.

[X] A name I might have heard before, if I can just remember where...

-Because this looks like it's got potential to be interesting. Mind, I'm the kind of player who takes disads like "Nemesis" with a comment of "oh, and I have no idea who this nemesis is, or why they hate me; I'm sure you can have fun with that, GM"

The girl you're coming to rescue swings some kind of heavy weapon, and that is when you grit your teeth and make your move, twisting your hip in a way that shouldn't be familiar, but is - launching yourself in a terminal descent, a Gryphon Talon Kick.

(You figure that your foxtail belt is ostentatious and overdesigned enough for a proper Kick, anyway.)
Ah, I see DeeDee is a woman of Culture.

You land, heavily, on top of the girl's warmaul to her shock and the grievous injury of her foe, a crab the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. Her blow would have already cracked it's shell; your weight drives it messily through the creature's brain as you crouch and launch yourself, again, off the hammer and next to the very surprised woman.
*ahem*

SO HERE'S THIS GIANT ENEMY CRAB.

Heads up that in his wisdom my landlord is cutting the power to my apartment from 8 AM PST to fucking 4 tomorrow/today, so if I'm not around, you know why. Please continue to vote and wildly speculate, I'll get back to it when I can.

Oh, trust me, she'd have had to have blown that Looking Respectfully roll and then opened her mouth only for spaghetti to fall out of her pockets to make Ace her nemesis, and it wouldn't be a secret.

SO HERE'S THIS GIANT ENEMY CRAB.

Regarding her as a student of Culture, she studied under an expert in the field and there's an image macro regarding the first point I can't wait to put up once it's relevant.

Regarding the second point, you hadn't actually found it's weak point (and attacked it for massive damage), but in lieu of it's weak point overkill will do.

I think I fixed it? Check for me.

You're golden.

[X] A potential friend. Someone I want to talk to more. (Moderate Spirit-based Rapport roll.)

Did someone say "Blender?"
Yeah, x2 glass cannons seems to be best to just kill everything before it gets to you.

[><] Really, really cute and flirting with her sounds like a really good idea. (Hard Spirit-based Rapport roll.)
Because y'all are COWARDS! :V /s

More seriously
[X] In trouble and needs allies and that's what matters right now. (No risk, no reward.)
Because we kinda have bigger issues and we barely actually know her. Even trying to be friends feels a little pushy to me.

The Shores of Awakening are home to a great variety of places :
- The bay of making your bed
- the beach of brushing your teeth
- the sands of showering
...

What ARE "The Shores of Awakening?"
And back.

A question before I vote: what exactly are the Shores of Awakening? An instanced dungeon? The tutorial area?
I assumed it was the tutorial area because we woke up there at level 1 and because of its name.

This is correct. The Shores of Awakening is a starter area near one of the starter cities. I'll have Deedee talk about it more.

The Giant Enemy Crabs for breakfast...

I have no idea how to respond to lady Ace

Ah, getting into character as Deedee, excellent.

A Note on "Tension" or "Valor"
Some of you may have noticed a stat/resource named Tension on the character sheet, and Deedee mentioned that Alesha was "building Tension" last time.

In Valor Heroic Roleplaying, that stat is named
Valor instead. As you can imagine from that name, it's pretty important! I renamed it Tension in the context of Another World Online in the JRPGish, Japanese definition of the word where it is always a positive kind of nervous energy.

Characters gain
Tension every combat round. They also gain it for taking particularly daring, valiant actions - in this game, particularly actions that are couragous, compassionate, or cunning.

Characters with Resolve primary are particularly good at using Tension, gaining the ability to use Resolve for evasion rolls (and, with additional perks, to hit as well) when they have at least 2 Tension.

This is not and will never be Deedee, so you should be primarily concerned with other uses of Tension - Tension Breaks starting at 5th level (which I'll get to then), and OVERDRIVES.

OVERDRIVES
are activated by spending 3 Tension, and allow you to - among other effects - retroactively gain +5 to any roll. On d10.

I hope that alone tells you how important it is to build and release Tension. If not, well, AMA.

As a collaborator, I'm fairly sure these are jokes the in-universe AWO dev team makes, because they're that kind of ridiculous (but still v smart) people.

...does flirting with the scary anime chick count as a courageous action? :V

Risking the mortifying ordeal of being known definitely counts for our depressed imposter-syndrome riddled dysphoric MC, even without people being a lot more scared of Ace than I expected them to be (at this point).

ETA: Honesty and moral courage counts. Always. It also helps when I consider whether or not to raise her Resolve on level-up.

You know, I didn't realize it was you both times. I assumed it was the eyes being Excessively Anime. Among other possible reasons.
There's also the smile.

I try not to judge her on the outfit, since it's not like she ever intended to dress her actual self like that.
