THRONE//FRINGE: Normal Human Mech-Girl Quest

[] DRONE/SAMURAI. Autonomous battle protocols allowing for more independent action at the expense of swarm coordination.
Frankly, I feel like forces that demand raw power are going to be rare nowadays what with space having tried to ram it's face into it's own stomach and succeeded.

[] Eppstein Transit Accelerator. Increases transit drive windup speed in unformatted space, allowing for easier escape from enigmatic threats.
I dunno if I trust holograms to protect us, givne the assumptions of reliance on visual spectrum sensors.

You'll need to put x's in the brackets for it to be counted by the vote counter program. Like this:

[x] GRID//FORMATTED-SPACE. Stable Architectural Space. Reward: Moderate, mostly data and information pertaining to current situation. Risk: Moderate, adjusted due to total sterilization of previous hex.
[x] DRONE/LEGION. Networked war-stalt intelligence focused on coordination at the expense of network security and independent action.
[x] Eppstein Transit Accelerator. Increases transit drive windup speed in unformatted space, allowing for easier escape from enigmatic threats.

If we want to do anything in unformatted space again without excessively gambling on escaping the Cylinder again, we'll most likely need the Accelerator. But... without the holographic mirage, we probably want our drones to respond more quickly to sudden surprises and coordinate better, at least until we get the weapons systems back online.

[x] GRID//UNFORMATTED-SPACE. Unmodified Realspace. Predictions are reward: High, due to significant concentrations of Imperial salvage and detritus, risk: High, adjusted due to presence of unidentified void entity and other potential dangers.
[x] DRONE/LEGION. Networked war-stalt intelligence focused on coordination at the expense of network security and independent action.

We capital-n Need more salvage. And the best place to find it is in unformatted space.

My picks.
Staying in formatted space since the void things are out there and more importantly the more formatted space we search the faster we scale up I think?
Samurai for flexibility, so that any other 'scavengers' like us in formatted space don't get to swipe our stuff.
And the speed boost because actually getting out of dodge beats tricking opponents and trying to play magic hats with them goes in my book.

The accelerator is specifically noted as being for unformatted space, where stuff like the mirage probably wouldn't work as well at the drone level.

our anti-anti-escape guard module, now referring to itself as the Lotophage
Now calling itself the Lotus Eater, not at all concerning, no sir.
You want to try again only a few hundred more times but your anti-escape guard module, now referring itself to Neural Pesticide, rescues you from the program.
...that's only a little better if I'm being honest, but I'll take it.
The two rivals, locked in a battle to deletion, are ideal imperial algorithms, prepared for mutual annihilation in honorable infowarfare. You dare not interrupt them in case they turn their ire towards you.
At some point, some poor fool is going to try and hack our systems only to run headfirst into these two and die immediately.

Someone blew a hole into a Matrioshka brain designed for entirely peaceful purposes! They might still be there! Check out unformatted space instead, where we might find entirely different horrors!

Tactical gestalt warminds are really cool, and it plays well into the replaceable nature of drones. Our troop reserve are not warrior-elite, they are small cogs in a vast machine. They will die, and they will be replaced, but there will always be Arachne's legion.

RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY is a valid strategy :X

Remember, what can't catch you can still kill you with faster-than-light long range weapons, but at that point you've traded a replaceable drone for important knowledge (that they have superlum longrange weapons :V)

Going in again is asking for more Eldritch horror, but you know what? We need that salvage to scale up quickly before anything dangerous finds us. I'm fine with either Legion or Samurai, not sure which choice offers the most synergy right now.

Does voting work by plan or line? Because if latter I'm going to delete the drone choice line.

Edit: I've made my choice. Ultimately, I'd prefer durability over raw power.

leaving a salvageable warship behind is a sin and i refuse to be silent about it.

If we prepare for enigmatic threats, then heading to the high risk but potentially high reward unformatted space makes more sense. Making things harder to hack makes it less likely they can be turned against us.

Needing to spend processing power on keeping the Legion from being hacked means we could end up in a death spiral where we need to divert processing power from proactive stuff to solve issues towards reactive defense, thus allowing opponents to set up additional attacks, which take more processing power to fend off, and so on.

Samurai might not be as effective per-unit, but without needing to babysit them we can instead devote efforts to things like intelligence, diplomacy, preemptive strikes and so forth that would prevent us from needing to fend off an attack in the first place.

The other stuff is just aimed towards getting the rest of our system modules online as our priority.

Gotta go fast, and something that works in in deadspace is ideal when there's so much of it around us, especially if it's littered with ruins of empire (and hopefully not more enigmatic space hexagons). Autonomous protocols seem more useful for that sort of situation, especially if we lose our direct linkages- I'd rather a drone swarm that might still exist if an enemy jams my linkages, then one that's better at intermural activities.

I don't think we can afford the risk until our military capabilities are better

Defense is more important, as is being able to deal with unexpected threats. Considering the unknown nature of the galaxy's current state, we need to be able to deal with the unexpected and defend our territory more than we need offensive capabilities. Armies, not heroes.
[X] Eppstein Transit Accelerator. Increases transit drive windup speed in unformatted space, allowing for easier escape from enigmatic threats.
By a similar principle, if our drones can escape from unknown/unexpected enemies, they can tell us enough that we can prepare countermeasures. Knowledge is even more important than defensive & adaptive capability, for the same reasons.
