One of the morals of the story is it's not that easy, how even though they say they can be anything, social norms and prejudice make it hard. Heck, two species just got to be police for the first time.

They have that desire, but it's not a dominant force in the city. In Judy, maybe, but not the society ^^


*Edit* The movie could be seen as an injection of red counterbalancing the blue problems of the city. From two directions- bad red and good red.

Disney is going mad with merchandise like they usually do. Ignoring fan creations and focusing on official works, there are already a focus on merchandise, digital programs, browser screen savers, wallpapers, custom decal for desktop hardware and software, art for clothes like jeans and shoes, branding and tie-ins for food, references in other media, hashtag marketing on social media, literally anything and everything that can be sold, rented, used, or even seen and heart of seems to have some form that's got the marketing of Disney's latest product line attempt. Goods and services. They also seem to be coordinating to try to get it more exposure at conventions and other events. Disney real puts their licenses of their intellectual properties to work, and makes their own things too.

Disney even apparently has things like an official playlist for Zootopia on Spotify.

Some people already made a list of what was on Judy's smartphone in the short scenes of the film the smartphone's screen was visible. The Spotify playlist has similar matches, but of real bands, like the Beatles (instead of the Beagles).

I like that they have carrot-pen recorders in stores (both with the record function, and a button for Judy lines).
 
Haven't finished watching yet.

Weird thing to say, but I love the prejudice in this. It's much more realistic, and more subtle, than they way it's usually handled in films taking on that sort of thing.

Mr. Big is amazing

I changed my mind, it started subtle, but didn't stay that way. Still, handling itself better than some films.

Called the final enemy from the beginning, as expected it was the obvious one.

Annnd, done. I have to agree, for all that it's going to be fueling furries for years to come, it is definitely a hell of a lot more than just a pandering film.

Also that final bit with Flash was great.

Saw this last night and I have to say it was absolutely wonderful. The character design was great, the humor was spot on, the story was solid and it had a wonderful message. I'm in love with the movie and its world and characters.

Just saw it tonight. Good stuff; made me nostalgic for my various first views of the old traditionally animated films when I was a kid. Good to have that sense of wonder again.

Speaking of fanfiction, here's some good (and SFW) Zootopia fanfiction. Explicitly has Nick and Judy as just close friends in it, but that's really good IMO because it usually promotes better writing.
 
You know, I've been thinking.

If there was a Zootopia 2, it'd be really cool if it had different protagonists (because I believe the writers could come up with other great ones), and have Judy and Nick show up in several significant scenes.

That'd be cool: I'd prefer that in a spinoff that's basically the ZPD/noire stuff in Zootopia, but it'd work in the 2nd movie too.

HOWEVER I AM THE SELFISH SHAPE-SHIFTING MASTER OF DARKNESS AND UNLESS I SEE MORE NICK AND JUDY BEING AWESOME LOTS IN ZOOTOPIA 2 AS THE PRIMARY FOCUS I WILL UNLEASH AN UNSPEAKABLE EVIL ON THE WORLD

A thing is, I think you can get away would implying a lot more about how their relationship is developed if they aren't the focus :)
