Appearance: Crazed eyes constantly focusing intently on the current work that needs his attention. Generally dressed in moderately expensive, if messily put on, clothing. Traces of ash, grease and engine oil tend to collect on his face, along with the smell of burnt hair.
Origin: Satellite

Backstory: A self-taught doctor of a non-specific field, complete with a doctorate of uncertain origins, Giles Khan dragged himself from the ground up, with a quest for knowledge in all things, how the world worked, how its pieces moved together and as he attempted to interact with his peers, how to build the perfect deck, to prove his superiority and genius despite his lack of a formal education like those snobs in Domino. If it means beating them at their own game, so be it.


Goals: It is a chance to gain much needed money for future experiments, not to mention gain some publicity and perhaps move to an area with a larger room for the lab. The ego boost from making so called "Real Doctors" cry should they enter the tournament (finger crossed) is just a nice bonus.

This sounds really interesting, I should have a character profile up tomorrow.

Not sure if to choose Invoked Magician Girls or Earthbound Immortals. Both are pretty fun especially as Zombies has already been chosen.
 
I'm interested although I really don't like dueling nexus. They are like 4 months behind when it comes to card releases.
 
Name: "Isurugi Bingo-no-Kami Raijuta Yoshitsune;" Rai for short. He will also accept being referred to by titles such as "The Samurai of Satellite," "The Shogun of the Slums" and "The Ronin of the Ruins."

Age: 20, 21? Somewhere around there

Appearance:

Origin: Satellite

Backstory: Picture this; young punk with no family, scraping along to get by with some other punks with no futures, like him. In Satellite, that's the same old story everyone knows. But here's where it gets good.

So this punk, he meets this crazy old guy living out in the junkyards, right? Only this crazy old guy ain't like the others, 'cause in his particular brand of crazy he thinks he's some old school samurai from way back in the day, living as a hermit because society doesn't recognize (what he thinks are) the proper values of a samurai.

And on top of that, old guy must've been a pro duelist before he went nuts, 'cause he's got cards and tricks that this punk's never even seen, and this punk thinks he's some hot stuff in Duel Monsters. And I guess the old guy was feeling pretty lonely, because he decides then and there that this punk is now his student in the ways of the Samurai Duelist.

Skip forward about ten years, and the old guy's passed on, and the young punk is now (in his own estimation) a full-fledged samurai duelist. Some of the old guy's weird, rambling lessons stuck better than others (all the reserve and stoicism and stuff kinda went in one ear and out the other), but the skills and the cards are all too real, man. And though he may have twisted values that already had nothing to do with actual historical samurai, this newly-minted junkyard ronin has got himself some ethics, man, some concepts that he ain't gonna just let rust away in the junkyard.

So like some old-school ronin, he walks around Satellite writing wrongs using the skills he learned from the old man, i.e. dueling. He's got the cards and the skills to back up his talk, and boy does he talk. 'Cause he heard a lot of old stories about "kabukimono," the iconoclastic samurai street gangs of olden times who dressed to shock and grab attention, who were loud and rowdy and rude, and who gave the inspiration for a whole style of theater. Ain't so different from your average gang of punks in Satellite, is it? Well, maybe we can use that.

Skip ahead another 2 or 3 years, this punk in (sorta, if you squint) samurai's clothes has got his own gang who are working on refining and spreading their unique Street Samurai culture and aesthetic, and in their spare time, using their dueling skills to bring justice and peace to Satellite, one rival gang or exploitative cop or whatever at a time.

Goals: So here he is now. To spread his message of a counterculture fusing old values and aesthetics with new ones, the king of the Street Samurai is here to show everyone in Neo Domino and Satellite the kinda skills following the way of Bushido can get you! And when (if) he wins? I dunno man, probably donate half and spend the rest to update his look, get some sponsorship deals to build his brand (gotta have the swag for a whole counterculture, man), all that good stuff.

Never tried anything with this archetype before and just thought it would fit the character concept better than Six Samurai and their sub-archetypes. So this is a first attempt, is probably trash, and I'll welcome any advice for fine-tuning.

Allen Kozlow - The Clumsy Casual
Name: Allen Kozlow

Age: 19

Appearance: Short brown hair with green eyes and of average height. Despite being from a wealthy family, he wears very casual clothes usually consisting of jeans a t-shirt and, a jacket.

Origin: Domino

Backstory: Allen is the son of the president of Kozlow industries the leading manufacturer on space shuttle parts though most people looking at him wouldn't think that at first given his more casual manner of dress and attitude. Not having any real interest in most of the activities that the social elite typically participate in he had trouble making friends. That is until he discovered dueling, where people of different classes compete against each other. It was in this game where he was able to truly enjoy himself and find friends in the process.

Goal: While getting further in a dueling career does have its appeal, he's really just here to have some fun and maybe make friends with the other duelists in the tournament.

Another thing to add is that he's a klutz. He's the type that's able to trip over thin air or hit himself with a Yo Yo. He also has a tendency to get people's names wrong if he's not close to them.

I'm not to familiar to the games meta so I don't really know for sure how much ham this deck has if it has it at all.
 
Got it. Looking back at the deck, I could swap out the Kristyas and maybe one of the Hyperions with some some of the Agents from the side deck. Could also take some of the extra copies of the Synchro and XYZ monsters out too if that would make it better.
 
Alright so... I've got all the characters submitted so far down. Has anyone not submitted one yet? I'd like to have a general idea of how many players I'm putting in before I start setting up tournament brackets and establishing the opening scenes.

A few people I know have expressed interest, but they're lazy assholes, so they might just blow it off. Give it another day or so for people to show up maybe?
 
Actually, I'm going to bow out. I'm not sure I'll be able to contribute to this because I might be getting busier soon, and I'd rather not go partway in and drop out then.
 
I'll leave character creation up for say... Another 24 hours. Then start work on getting everything together.
 
Emilia Opfern - The Questing Queen
Name: Emelia Opfern
Age: 21

Origin: Satellite

Backstory: Once merely a nobody standing alone at the fringes of society in Satellite as she grew older and more confident Emelia began to gather cards to one day stand as a duelist. Gathering her cards from any source she could find; be it dumpsters or stolen from passing through duelists with poor situational awareness a core began to form around Tribute Summoning. Eschewing the modern methods of summoning from the Extra Deck and simply allowing hers to fade away through trades and sales to gather what else she needed.

With a relatively complete Monarchs deck formed, yet still feeling incomplete, she began a journey of her own travelling the world in search of a means to prove she was more than merely another body in a crowd. Searching for new cards and strategies she eventually came across the series of cards that now serve as her decks highlight in the depths of Peru, once powerful and rare, but now forgotten in favour of Synchro Monsters, the Earthbound Immortals replaced her former high level tribute monsters with their own might. For each Immortal she possessed she had a tattoo engraved onto her body as recognition; her hand the Hummingbird, lower arm the Whale, upper arm the Giant, and face the Spider. For each of the Nazca Line inspired card she marked her flesh and in exchange it seemed her cards granted her victory, crushing her foes with the might of these Earthbound idols, and thus she decided her journey had reached its end.

With this new power and experience she returned home in search of a name and reputation seeking to enter the tournament and crush her opposition before her monster's power. And if she sometimes happens to hear voices demanding souls and slaughter or see her many tattoos glow the same colour as her monsters, such a thing is unimportant before her goal...

Goals: To stand tall amongst the legends of the dueling circuit. To prove without a shadow of doubt that she is skilled and not merely lucky to have reached where she now stands.
