I hope we get to make a deal with the devil to give up our gender for maximum power. Shave away bits and pieces of our identity for a trickle more of strength until there's nothing but a shambling husk with the power of a god left.
What? this is the internet, where else am i gonna dump my teenage edge
teen-edge, if you will
It would have been great. It would have been wholesome. It would have had class dammit! Unfortunately, the Iceberg of Betrayal and Traitors was too large to avoid. (At least I'm assuming that's why people voted for Almeric. I saw some references to the traitor cyoa earlier I believe along with someone mentioning heel-turns. Which left me really confused, because this meant to be a best friend/bro/lancer quest. Was the angst too tempting? Was the purity of Kara not enough to sway your hearts? ANSWER ME SV! I guess I'm fine with this option. But one day I'll have a plan that actually wins a vote. One day.)

About the betrayal stuff, well, it is an option, but in general, it is harder to do so because, well, your character starts off as a mostly good person, and unless something big or very personal happens, they (well, he now) would prefer to side with the Save The World faction, though there's options for both willing and unwilling betrayal.
About that gender association stuff...Well, I suppose is because people are used to seeing the male being 'always in control of his emotions' And therefore he knows what he is doing and is doing so willingly.
The female in these case is most of the time portrayed as 'confused and/or unsure about the nature of her actions and thus can't control/escape from it unless is helped by a protagonist(usually a male) to show her the way out!'
That's just my perspective, though, so what do I know?
Tbh, I voted for a male so that the hero has a male friend. I am kind of assuming the hero's gonna be a dude, but...
It's an anime world. It is a pretty fair assumption.
Also, the clear solution to bombastic girl losing is to make her part of the group anyway, but going by Almeric instead! Flawless.
And then, after our betrayal because the hero and gang mostly just dick about with anime shenanigans, instead of actually killing god and stuff, the hero can turn to yuri gal and homies for comfort, only to find out they are all polyuri because he was an indecisive harem protag ass for three seasons straight and they are sick and tired of his bullshit! And then the hero can have a mental breakdown and set himself on fire, turning into a walking extinction event set on killing god and defeating the 'For The Greater Good' organisation we joined. Eventually both of our shambling husks will have a massive duke out over the pile of dead deities, before Almeric and co. show up to murder us with the power of friendship, because both of us have gone insane and the blowback from the godfight is cracking apart reality. And then Yuripals feel regretful that they never got us therapy, or called the hero out on his anime protaginess so he fixed himself earlier without turning into a self-destructive engine of a martyr hero.
That sounds good!
Yes, I have exams tomorrow and I'm going to make my suffering their problem.

Gotta say that sounds really awkward. I mean Almeric is kinda awkward too but in the "weird but cool uncommon name" way. Kara rather sounds weird in the "that guy has a girlish name" way.
Could we at least make it a nickname, short for something else?
[X][ARCHETYPE] THE QUIET AND RESERVED ONE
[X][NAME] Kara
[X][GENDER] I'M A GENTLEMAN, YOU BLIND OLD MAN!
Alright then! So, now that we have the basics down and that we have made sure that you can't run away from this, we still need a few details so you can be the best Lancer that you can be!
Still! We can't have you just... Spawning into existence just like that, can we? That kind of stuff is for Protagonists only! And thus, you need a proper, interesting backstory.
Alright, so, here we have some cool backgrounds for you to have come from before meeting the Hero and started traveling alongside them, so please think carefully about your choice!
Now, you are—
[ ][BACKGROUND] JUST A DREAMER —A simple, easy background: you are just a simple novice adventurer with some dreams of getting big and strong and famous and rich! No big past issues, no crazy subplots in store for you, a bit generic maybe, I'll admit that, but hey, charming all the same, and you aren't the Protagonist, so...
[ ][BACKGROUND] BASTARDLY NOBLE —A more complex, exciting background: you are a bastard heir to a noble house, and in order to reclaim your rightful seat at the helm of your family, you must prove your worth as an adventurer! It has everything! Many possible antagonists for your subplot among rival relatives and other houses, a constant sense of pressure coming from your house, and you'll definitely get some nifty bonuses through this thing!
[ ][BACKGROUND] MY LEGACY SUCKS —Hard mode it is, then! Your ancestors screwed up something a while ago, and boy did they screwed up! Now, your reputation as heir of a Stained Bloodline follows you everywhere you go, yet you wish to rise up against the odds and prove your worth separated from your family... Well, we definitely can make many enemies along the way to fill up some screentime, we can make things very hard for you, we can make the Hero doubt about your loyalties...! Ah, but don't worry, Hard Mode Bonuses and what not, you'll be rewarded by your victories more than any of the other backgrounds!
Right! Now that we have finally finished with that part, we can now focus on the next part: what can you actually do in to support your Hero in their journey?
Now, my friend, what have you been doing with your life before meeting the Hero? What is your specialization? What is your focus in this life?
[ ][CLASS] A KNIGHT! —Huh, well, I suppose that the 'Lancer' title now fits a little better on you...
[ ][CLASS] A CLERIC! —You see one of those silly clerics going around healing people and you laugh; that same silly cleric then pulls out a hammer bigger than you are and then you stop laughing.
Will start with a Low Level Healing Spell and a Mace.
[ ][CLASS] A MONK! —'I cast fist!' Guys. If one of them tells you how they can break a mountain with a single jab, I'd recommended you to at the very least keep it in mind.
Alright! Now that we have finally finished with your stuff, it is time to learn a little bit more about the star of the show: the Hero!
They are the destined one, the saviour, the one who kicks the evil god in the face, the one who romanticallh attracts literally everyone within a hundred feet radius of them, regardless of anything!
So, to being with, the Hero is...
[ ][GENDER] A GUY! —Alright, no surprises here, target demographics and all that jazz.
[ ][GENDER] A GIRL! —Well, colour me surprised! This is quite unusual, considering this genre...
Well, regardless, the Hero is a universal trope, and as such, there's a million ways of telling the story of a dragon slayer and their merry band, and for that, our Hero this time is...
[ ][ARCHETYPE] THE HOT-BLOODED HERO —CAN YOU FEEL IT!? THIS TREMENDOUS ENERGY AND MOTIVATION!? THAT, MY FRIEND, IS THIS GUY'S DEAL! This guy will not just JUMP at the call, they will ram into it and then kidnap it! Clearly, someone like this needs a little bit of balance in their lives, don't'cha think?
[ ][ARCHETYPE] THE ALL-LOVING HERO —These guys are probably angels, there's little evidence of the contrary. They are more than willing to give second chances, and even third chances, as long as you have some good in you! Now, they aren't idiots, if you prove yourself completely unrepentant for your actions, they WILL put you down, but always sad about how it could have been different... These guys need a more earthly and flawed guy to remind them that the world is still a very imperfect place, and that they shouldn't blame themselves for the actions of others. Very wholesome people.
[ ][ARCHETYPE] THE VANILLA HERO —Ah, a classic, yes they are (initially) way simpler and plain compared to other archetypes, lacking the All-Loving Hero's borderline sainthood, the Hot-blooded instant awesomeness, the insecure visible self worth conflict, the cynical's edge and morality... But what makes these guys thick is that, while they aren't in any extreme, they can develop into almost any archetype, and so, they are truly without limit... In the hands of a competent author, of course, and they always need to have a more interesting cast to bounce off with at the beginning!
Alright! And with that, we should be done! Just the cherry on the to is left... The name! Their name is...
[ ][NAME] WRITE-IN!
Aaah... What a joy to be finally done with this! Now, please, wait here for a second while we start this gig!
You'll see many incredible things in your journey, and will forge bonds that'll last an eternity...
Welcome, to the incredible world of Poke-! Oh wait, no we can't actually do that, copyright and all that stuff...
Anyways! Good luck and try to not die until a climatic scene!
Bye! You see a big light, and suddenly...
You open your eyes.
Alright, done! Next is the actual introduction to the world and stuff, so I hope that this thing wasn't to annoying to deal with until then.
The vote will last at least two days give or take an hour or two, so better think about it!
Regardless! Mechanics!
We use d100 for these things every roll except a few outlines, and those rolls are supported by the stats!
Which are the ones down here!
Strength: Used to determine the raw physical strength of a character.
Endurance: Used to determine the endurance and stamina of a character.
Dexterity: Used to determine the speed and reflexes of a character.
Cunning: Used to determine the wit and intellect of a character.
Charisma: Used to determine the social and diplomatic capabilities of a character.
Arcane: Used to determine the power and resistance of magic in a character.
This is affected by equipment, statuses, and so on.
I'll explain more at a later time, but for now, these are the basics.
Oh neat, we do get to decide on the hero.
And since I'm here to fuck around and hopefully set ourselves on fire...
[X][CLASS] A CLERIC!
[X][GENDER] A GIRL!
[X][ARCHETYPE] THE HOT-BLOODED HERO
[X][NAME] ALMERIC
If we can have a girl hero, that sounds fun. Now to kill god with her.
JRPG Traitor Cyoa
You make the inevitable traitor/final boss in every band of jrpg hero, and chose the menbrrs of the heroes band.
You can chose your motivations, powers, if you kill or corrupt someone..
Also, in jrpg tradition, the lore is very complex and most characters are actually puppets for higher powers.
