Will this simply heal us or will it provide some kind of bonus? Because right now I'm not seeing a reason to pick this when Briar still has two dust's she can use to give Alex a total heal.
It will permenantly boost our health meter, going by zelda mechanics. If we have the default 3 hearts starting off with then it will give us a third again as much health.

Would increasing our health do anything to our Ki? Or is ki purely spirit-based? I forget.

Anyway,

[X] Heart Container. Be HEALED!

or

[X] For the Golden Goddesses collectively. You have been meaning to get on better terms with them in this incarnation...

Either is fine with me.

Fuck. Good bye any chance of not being a glass canon.

Edit: All Heart of Fire does is weigh us down with yet another skill to train, when it could make us less squishy and frail. Why do you people want to be squishy and frail?

...From what the GM said, it will be empowering our already-extant Fire Elementalism abilities, not giving us a new skill branch that would need development. If you're so sure it's going to be that useless, why don't you ask the GM?
Why do you want us to be frail and squishy?

[X] Heart of Fire. You're sure that Altria will be so jealous like it.

The other aspect to this is that if we can naturally generate fire/are fire aligned, we may well be able to pirate Fire Bending from Zuko. Having a significantly boosted ki based set of offensive techniques available would be very useful. Ki use appears to be much lower profile than magic use, which is very important on the Hellmouth.

Even if this is the case, it shouldn't give us a whole new skill set to train, as it should build on top of one of our existing Prowesses, hopefully Spiritual Manipulation, which we have to raise anyway. We can simply steal the techniques from Zuko with Dicination next tournament.

Choosing this option does not necessarily make us fragile, either. A Fire Shield type spell would effectively make us a much harder target, as it would deter many physical attacks and destroy/damage many projectiles. Significant Fire Resistance/Immunity would massively protect us from a whole class of attacks, which, combined with using magic to shape our environment, would make us much harder to kill, as only similarly fire resistant enemies could approach us.

The killer application of this is, of course, vampires, who this would render a much lesser threat.

I wonder if a ritual consumption under tailored conditions supported by the right reagents would allow us to optimise what we received.

I think magic training needs to be tabled until we get a teacher. The risk of drawing on Gannondorf's memories when we have nothing else to focus on is too great.

We have plenty of other prowesses that we have trainers for that we can invest the action slots in until either Merlin turns up or we find another teacher, such as Briar's mother, or something we summon.

We have Ki and Time to help with our health issues. Plus, Alex is a World Champ. Kids division, but still a World Champ. Squishy, he is not.

Alex won the world champ due to luck on the draws out.

He got Goku? He get's beaten like a little pig. Fresh Altria? Beaten like a ragdoll. Kurokami? He'd humiliated so throughly it won't be funny. And so on and so forth.

Besides, Alex is squishy. He won by beating the shit out of other people harder, not by taking it like a man.

Frail and squishy? Even in his normal human form Ganon was anything but frail and squishy. Now that we have martial arts and all of that Ki stuff? Yeah, there's no threat of us being "frail and squishy," and that's not mentioning our magical buffs.

[X] Heart Container. Be HEALED!

Because every point of damage you can tank is a mistake which doesn't kill you.

[X] Heart of Fire! Hot-Blooded for the Win!

As to the sacrifice option... We're already making one sacrifice, and it's a big one; it's entirely appropriate to keep something for ourselves. If people want to be symbollically appropriate, since part of how we got Searfang's heart-container is because of help, then offer that instead of the Arrogante's core. We did earn that one on our own power, after all.
I say we sacrifice Arrogante's core, because a sacrifice won with nothing but our own power has more meaning - and the one won with the goddess' help could - would, in my mind - be seen as her blessing to us, a gift if you will. One that had to be earned, because she's not into freebies.

In fact, it's fairly reasonable to imagine that the other goddesses had a thing or two to do with it - beating an older, more knowledgeable, more powerful sorcerer takes more than than just brute power; it takes wisdom and courage as well. I'm half-tempted to say that we sacrifice to all three instead of just Din, but it's bad form to change your mind just like that when dealing with divinities.

Arrogante's elemental associations also make it appropriate to sacrifice his core to Din in particular.

Exactly this.
As long as we have our spiritual prowess high enough it is not a problem to draw on memories.
Our Spiritual Proewess is not high enough though. It's severely losing the race with PLE.

We are squishy compared to the foes we have to fight.
Heart of fire is very nice. Heart of fire is a shiny.
Health is _essential_ for survival.
I'm not sure that we are squishy compared to our foes, actually. We're much less so than the average vampire (we're not as inflammable as if we're soaked in petrol), and between magically armouring ourselves and using magic and ki to enhance our physical capabilities, we can rapidly become a very hardened target. Stack Haste and Body Flicker on top of that for dodging, and I don't think this is anything like a weak spot.

We also have a massive advantage in terms of health recovery, as we have two (and possibly more in future) full heals from Briar per day, plus her and our ability to heal, plus healing potions if we buy or make any.

We have generally won our battles because we have a deeper and broader box of tricks than the foes we've faced. That's our strength. Let's build on it.

[x] Heart of Fire. You're sure that Altria will be so jealous like it.

Reasoning: There was concern that any ability received from the heart would just be another skill we would need to learn to use. Going from the description though, this does not seem like a skill. This is a passive power-up. This will not take away from our other forms of training, but instead enhances them.
Next is the fact that we've managed to attain two Hearts by 8 years of age (granted, in an unusual circumstance, but still. I dare say there will be more monsters to fight on the hellmouth). There will more than likely be quite a few more opportunities to gain Hearts, but there is no guarantee that later ones will be fire-aspected. The fire power-up is of seminal importance for us, due to the fact that we live in Vampire Central. Even if we choose not to specialise, Pyromancy is a very useful skill.

Judge could you tell us exactly what we would gain from these options?
Right now we're only voting based on assumptions, it's very likely that we'll be disapointed with the result.

tenchifew said:
This is why we should work more on Spiritual Prowess, investing two actions in it. And they are still comparable. We just neglected to do _any_ actions which would help us raise it in the tournament arc. Let us deal with it now.
I can't remember where the exact quote is but I'm pretty sure Judge said we can't double up on training actions. So we can only put one training action into Spiritual Prowess each year.

We have a full bag of tricks. But we have not much stayíng power. One fireball that just barely touched us in the last fight was enough to very nearly incapacitate us!
This shows that we are too squishy. I repeat: one spell was nearly enough!
Your forgetting we were fighting against someone at least three times our age, probably closer to 5-7 times. Not only do we have the Young penalty acting against us he also has superior magical skill in general.

Frankly if a single attack by him wasn't enough to kill Alex I would be concerned.
