X-Wing, Miniatures tabletop game from Fantasy Flight

Confound this hobby!

Apparently I now have copies of Rebel Aces, Imperial Veterans (Countess incoming!), Firespray patrol vessel, ARC-170, TIE Punisher, TIE/sf, HWK-290, and the crown jewel for me, the Imperial Raider.

And two of my other friends have also jumped into it wholesale to boot...:D

I literally cannot hold all my TIE l/n s.

Have you tried playing a 1000 point match yet? The game doesn't Truly Begin until your opponent accidentallies the Millennium Falcon into one of your two Raiders and it doesn't make a dent in the Tactical situation for either side.

Seriously though, throwing a block of Sixteen TIEs across the board as a chump change tarpit is /Majestic A F/

Happy for you!

Nothing worse then spending a shitload of money on a hobby that no one will play with you. Curse you Armada! Though we probably could play a game if we weren't so lazy, X-wing takes an hour and armada takes 2 so we generally go with the former. Also someone gave us a couple starter packs of Magic cards and we've been playing that plenty to fill time.

Had a fun match few days ago where I dug out my old phantom and had a 1v1 against that new scum mando ship. Was failing all my die super hard and down to my last hull point with a -1 attack die crit when I managed to triple crit the other guy during a lance off. 2 out of 3 crits where double damage.

Oh and I finally picked up imp veterans and oh man do I love the Tie/D and tractor beam, cutting agility and yanking ships around is so great.

Finally got down to my FLGS and played a couple of games there of xwing. Since everything I own (aside from the raider) fits in my tackle box I brought everything with me. It was reall nice, as everyone there tried to avoid 'netdecking' as it were.

So first game I decided to go against my usual and flew three A-wings, all without missiles, with a cheap ARC-170 as backup. Ran into someone playing dual t-70s and an ace ARC-170. The A-Wings murdered him. When I was setting up he paused and said "never seen anyone fly that many A-wings at once".

2nd game I went back to the Empire and flew dual Defenders and, this part makes me laugh, a TIE Bomber. But not any Bomber, I flew the TIE shuttle option. Recon specialist and it was the 8 skill pilot who can keep reusing use once elite talents. And this guy had Adrenaline Rush. Ever seen a TIE bomber pull off back to back K-turns? I was against the U-Wing and the Ghost. It came down to the Phantom (with raging Ezra) and one untouched TIE Defender (never got to set off Stele's ability even once). Took five turns to kill the Phantom as the dice loved him.

Edit: also got the Inquisitor TiE, a t-70 xwing and the bwing pack afterwards too

This is old I know but since my local game store just got some of the new wave stuff I feel a new post is warranted. Plus its been a while.

So I finally got the ship I've been wanting in X-Wing since forever. I picked up the Havoc! And two TIE Aggressors and a Wookie Gunship but HAVOC!
I remember playing the old Jedi Starfighter games back in the day and I loved flying around in this massive brick and just shrugging off everything the enemy could throw at me.

Continuing the tradition of dredging this thing up for the few times a year I play this, I actually did play a game last Friday.

It was against a friend who has been out of it for a while because something something baby.

I brought :
X-Wing Garven Dreiss + Astromech
ManlY-Wing Dutch + Ion Cannon turret
Z-95 Blount + Ion Pulse Missile
B-WIng Blue Sq + Advanced Sensors

vs:
Chewbacca + extra shield or something & stuff
Nera Dantels

Actually went fairly well: He really loves Chewie because it forces me to... Chew through all those hit points.

The list is still fun to play with a load of grouphug target locks and focus spending (and hits surprisingly hard because everything will be doing those things).
B-Wing does a 180 and ends up with stress? No worries, already got a target lock.
His B-Wing got escorted away by Dutch's turret (it really is troll to do), after which I blew it to pieces with Dreiss and Blue Squadron so I could focus on the Chewie.

Who was being herded into an asteroid by an (un)timely Ion Pulse Missile.
I whittled him down to 1 HP, he murdered blount and then he took a wrong turn and commited seppuku with a large rock.

Blount does feel like the weak link in the list: Autohitting IPM is fun but the Z-95 is trash.

Also: v2 is coming out and those "upgrade kits" are made of gold or something. Pretty expensive.

Edition changes tend to be expensive. They'll be including new cards for /everything in that faction/. That's not cheap to pull off.

True. And dials. I might split it with someone; he plays a totally different Rebels stable compared to mine. Assuming upgrade cards won't be singles...

Another game against imps, mind, my group is hopelessly casual and out of date.

A wild Tie Phantom appears!
It's very maneuvrable!
...
Havock uses [Thach Weave].
It's super effective! :V

I should play this game more often. It's fun.
