Wormverse ideas, recs, and fic discussion thread 1

This is just something I whipped up because I woke up and couldn't sleep...then I started thinking about the good cartoon network shoes that used to come on. Gooood times. Essentially. This is sort of a, what if scenario in which when Taylor triggered, she pinged off of Panacea's shard. Also I'm trying out a new POV for my writing. Sooooo this should be interesting. No title, so let's just call this...

Untitled

I woke up with a groan, disorientated.

'What happened?' I thought. And at the moment everything unfortunately came back to me. Madison, Sophia, Emma. Their constant seemingly nonstop assault on my self-esteem, or what little I had after losing mom and Dad becoming depressed.

They stopped, and for a time I thought maybe they'd stopped. Perhaps they'd gotten bored of me.

'Stupid.' I thought.

They enjoyed seeing my torment more than anything. I should've been more suspicious, maybe watched my back more, warn a teacher?

What would they gave done? The teacher's were practically accomplices with how they acted.

That's quite a serious accusation, Ms. Hebert, we'll look into it. They'd say, and then...nothing. No suspension, nobody sent to the principal's office, hell! Not even some detention!

Though maybe your being a bit too harsh on them. Everything else wasn't exactly harmful, just greatly demoralizing. How would they know that it would escalate to...the locker!

I open my eye's wide and see darkness.

'No, no, no!' I thought. This nightmare still isn't over!?

I open my mouth to scream and nothing. I try to scream and scream thrashing about and stressing myvocal chords till they hurt but not a sound comes out.

"Ms. Hebert! Ms. Hebert please! Calm down! It's okay, your in the hospital!" A unfamiliar male voice shouts as hands begin to hold me down stopping me from thrashing.

I stop trying to move, and stop trying to speak.

'Right...there's no smell of blood.' I think relaxing a bit.

"Are you okay now Ms. Hebert?" The man asks.

I wanted to scream at him. I was mad. More than mad. I couldn't see and I couldn't speak. I was not okay.

I think my reaction showed on my face because I hear the man shift awkwardly before he says "Right, wrong question to ask. Sorry, I'm new."

I turned my head in the direction of his voice, and stare.

"I'll be going now, there's someone who I need to get to see you." He says

I hear him walk off and I turned my head back to it's original position.

Minutes later, footsteps echo across the floor.

'Who?' I think.

A girl's voice announces "Hello. I'm Panacea."

I turn to the voice giving my best surprised look.

"Do I have permission to heal you?" She asks.

I nod my head quickly.

Suddenly I feel fine. I can see. I turn to my left to see Panacea walking off.

'Time to test out my voice.' I think.

"Wait!" I call.

She stops and looks back. Oddly enough a look of surprise, and for a second, exasperation before it disappears.

"Yes." She asks.

"Thank you." I say.

Her eyes widen much to my surprise before she quickly turns away.

"Your welcome..." With that she walks attempts to walk out but you ask.

"Why'd you looks so surprised?" I ask. It was an honest question in my opinion. All I said was thank you and she got all flustered. It was weird.

She looks at me, before walking back, grabbing a chair long the way and sit's at my bedside.

She's quiet for a minute before saying "People usually are to busy being amazed at the fact that they've been healed to say thank you."

"Oh." Well that's kind of depressing, you hear that Panacea spends hours in the hospital healing people.

"It must be pretty bad, not even getting a thank you for your services." I say honestly. If it were me then I'd get annoyed and quit.

"It is." She whispers miserably.

"Well then, why don't you quit. Or you know. Take a break?" I ask.

Her head whips upward to stare at you in shock. So fast in fact that I was almost a bit worried that she'd gotten whiplash or something.

"Take a break? How could I do that!? Do you know how many people are in here or come in here injured every week!? These people...they'd be in so much pain, and some might even die if I decided to take a break!" She pauses, breathing heavily and gripping the cloth of her costume with her hands.

"I wouldn't be able to live with myself if someone died and I could've been able to stop it...." She says quietly.

I stare before saying "That's kind of amazing."

"Huh?" Panacea says looking up confused.

"I mean you work here almost everyday, healing people without any reward for hours. And your not worried about your grades in school suffering while your here or how tiring it is? That's...crazy. I could never be that selfless, that much of a good person in a million years. You deserve a break more than anyone." I tell her giving her a small smile.

Panacea stared before smiling and saying 'Thanks...I... nobody's ever said something like that to me...thanks."

"Oh...your welcome." I say, I didn't think that it'd make that much of a difference to her.

Panacea get's up before she pauses and looks at me.

"Um..." I say questioning her hesitation.

"Do you...want to...?" She begins and I immediately realize what she's asking.

"Yeah, I'd like to hang out sometime. Preferably when I get out of this hospital." I joke.

She chuckles slightly at this, before saying goodbye and leaving.

As she leaves Dad rushes by her and hugs me.

"Oh God! Taylor are you okay!?" He asks.

I glance over his shoulder and see Panacea by the door. She waves goodbye before walking off.

I smile.

"Yeah Dad, just fine."

I frown as I stare at my creation under the microscope I had...borrowed from school. Ever since after I'd awoken in the hospital I'd been getting images...flashes of tiny, things. Microscopic in size really. Tiny they were however, they packed a big punch. I don't exactly remember when, but I quickly figured out that I was a Tinker. I had super powers!

Ever since I'd returned to school things had...calmed down recently since the first day back. After that things kind of got weird.

Sure they jeered at me a little, and all that but that was it. No juice in my eye's and hair, no pushing in the hallways, not even tripping me. In fact they didn't een accuse me of cheating or something on my math and science tests and homework. They just...were there.

It honestly had me worried. The last time I had gotten a reprieve like this...the locker incident happened. So, in the middle of February, I decided to make my creation...the nano tech that kept flashing in my mind in order to become a ward and get moved to Arcadia. There they couldn't reach me.

I grabbed the slide on the Microscope and quickly slid it's content's into a glass of water I had on the side.

'Please work.' I think before gulping the whole glass down.

Immediately I feel odd and I hear a crackling sound. I look down and realize that it's coming from my hands.

"It worked!" I shouted in joy as I stared at the electricity sparking in my hands.

"I should probably make more and do more tests on them though. Just to be safe." I muse turning off my power. Gathering up my materials in the rarely used basement I thought.

'Let's get to work.'

Essentially, Taylor get's the ability to make nanites from Generator Rex. Nanite's essentially manipulate the body to do crazy shit like give you powers and or body horror depending on how you manipulate them. This is probably going to remain a oneshot but tell me what you think. I'm personally not exactly satisfied with it.

So I just thought up a crossover.

The crossover is How To Train A Dragon.

In where Taylor gets the Wyrm shard tinker style and trigger with a bio-tinker power that lets her create the dragons (make the first one a Night Fury (like Toothless (he has teeth they just retract into his gums))).

Far Gone from Normal - Freshmen 1.1

The aftermath had been over quickly and professionally as far as I was concerned.

As soon as The Headmaster had fallen over dead, I had thrown the gun away and put my hands behind my head and gone down to my knees. Which in itself was something of a problem with the weird leg structure of my changer form. Between the saturday morning cartoons, some videos from the internet and idolizing a couple of capes, I felt that it was the best solution for now.

Originally I had planned to kick the crap out of the four 'graduates' the Headmaster had with him, but right now they just stared at his corpse. There were a couple of Protectorate heroes, I didn't know, with Miss Militia and they, together with a couple of PRT agents quickly subdued them.

Miss Militia, the left side of her face splattered with blood, bone chunks and some brain matter, had her eyes locked at me, an unreadable expression on her face. Two of the other heroes meanwhile had moved in on me.

"I am not going to resist," I had called out, my voice loud and clear in the largely silent yard of the mine.

I didn't fight against the handcuffs they had tied me with, nor did I resist being loaded into a PRT van.

Which left me sitting in a nondescript room in some PRT or Protectorate building a couple of hours later. They had removed the cuffs from hands and left me with some water.

I had used the time to get in some sleep. The 'High School of Power' had been anything if not effective in teaching a few useful skill in between all the sadistic power plays of the former Headmaster. One was that you learned very quickly to get in some shut eyes wherever you were able to.

So I was able to simply ignore the waiting game I had seen in all those police procedurals, but awoke very quickly when the door opened.

Miss Militia entered and walked around the table. She had cleaned herself up and the blood and gore was gone. Sitting opposite to me, she put a manila folder on the table and looked at me, completely unconcerned.

"Based on that collar," she began," I would guess that you have been one of The Headmasters 'pupils'?"

I frowned as I was once again reminded at the damned thing.

"Yes."

She seemed to be frowning back at me from underneath her flag pattern scarf and nodded. Looking at the closed manila folder she continued

"That will make this situation harder, as well as easier. The Headmaster had a minor Master rating, allowing him to slowly control the thoughts of those that have been exposed to him over a longer time."

She looked up.

"Given that you have outright killed him, and that he was pretty keen on remaining alive, it's safe to say that you have not been under his control. At least not completely."

I nodded in return. If that was his power, there was no wonder that he had been so obsessed with me. I had resisted his power and he didn't know why. So he did all he could to turn me. Only for me to double down on my stubbornness in resisting.

"Others in the Protectorate and the PRT don't see it that way. They believe that The Headmaster heard of the kill order on his head and that he set up one of his pupils in this situation to be killed."

I shook my head. Of course that I had had a similar thought, but there is only so much someone can do to try and copy a scent. Least of all an arrogant sadist like The Headmaster.

"It was him," I said.

Miss Militia nodded again.

"We are still waiting for a positive identification. But given that many of his 'pupils' and 'graduates' have become close to unresponsive when we stormed his base, I'm willing to believe you."

She looked at me for a while, while I looked back at her. It was the first time that I came face to face with a real hero, one from my hometime no less. I might have been tongue tied before this entire ordeal that made my junior year in high school look like a vacation. Now I was merely silent because I had not much to say without any prompt to talk.

Between the costume that looked like a fashionable version of an Army uniform, the patriotic scarf and her public image, it was something of a surprise that she wasn't straight out caucasian. Perhaps some sort of compensation for something.

"This brings me to you," she finally said." If we confirm that you are not under his control anymore, you are not going to be in outright trouble. He had a kill order on his head, and I had originally planned to fulfil it today. But I can understand what you have gone through, so I'm willing to let you have the kill."

She sighed.

"Others wouldn't be as understandable."

Somehow I didn't really expect her to understand it at all. There were a couple of very subtle hints in her posture that told me that she did mind me 'stealing her kill'.

She opened the manila folder.

"We have managed to identify most of the kids in the Headmasters 'school'. There aren't many abductees that we could not account for and you being female has allowed us to cut down your identity to three girls that have been abducted in the past year. So…"

I didn't let her finish and put a clawed finger on an image that showed me smiling. It reminded me of much better days, before Emma had turned into a total bitch.

"I am Taylor Hebert," I said, making Miss Militia frown behind her scarf again.

"I was about to say that you did not have to identify yourself. We take secret identities very seriously," she said.

"Like I have a secret identity to begin with," I answered with a shake of my head.

Not to mention that I absolutely refuse to go by 'Pet'. The thought alone made me want to throw up.

Out of an impulse I changed back to my human form, the oversized surplus army uniform The Headmaster had given me, becoming even more oversized. And the collar began to spark, sending a strong electric shock into my body, making me grind my teeth together trying to keep it together.

Miss Militia looked alarmed at the change, and quickly stood up as the shocks began. This time I was able to keep my human form until the scent of burnt skin and flesh filled the air and the pain got too much for me and I had to return into my changer form.

The shocks stopped and I took a couple of deep breathes, looking into Miss Militias eyes, trying my best not to show the discomfort of the rapidly healing injury from the collar.

"Is there any tinker that might help me to get rid of this collar?"

From Alexandria's interlude, after Siberian kills Hero and then gouges her eyes out.
Alexandria moved in close, hoping to stop Siberian, to catch her and slow her down, saw Siberian swing, pulled back out of the way.
Her visor fell free, clattering to the ground. Then she felt the blood.
Saw, in her one remaining good eye, the chunks of her own face that were falling to the ground around her, bouncing off her right breast, the spray of blood.
It had been so long since she'd felt pain.
Legend called out the order and buried her in containment foam, hiding her from sight.

1) How can containment foam stop Siberian from finishing the job? Or... is there something I'm missing here?
2) Is there any other interlude in which we see Cauldron mourning, in any form, Hero's demise, or discussing counter-measures against such a scenario?
3) The Clairvoyant: How much agency does she normally have? Additionally, the Doormaker needs to be pretty much impelled to do anything, right? Even before Khepri gets her mitts on him?

Did all of these Brockton Bay Wards (Triumph, Aegis, Gallant, Clockblocker, Kid Win & Vista) trigger before July 2010.

Siberian can't see through foam. If Alex was covered with a truckload of foam, Siberian would have had to search for her.

I don't believe so.

Taylor: *pokes Armsmaster's armour*
Armsy: EEEEK *squeals and tries to hide himself*
Taylor: OH DEAR GOD WHY DO YOU NEED TO GO COMMADNO *covers eyes*
Armsy: It's efficient that way! Less chafing!
Like Armsmaster wouldn't shamelessly show off his effeciently sculpted body that he created using the most effecient workout routines, to spite the comparatively ineffiecent arobics Dauntless peruses in.

Dauntless: "Guys... I think Armsmaster might be hitting on me."

Dragon: "NO."

I have a random idea, not inspired by another form of media! I think...

Taylor triggers with control over entropy.

Why would Scion and Eden even bother dealing with the one thing they are trying to prevent (or is that just fanon)?
Well, they're not. It's not one of their shards, it's one of Abbadon's; his 'madness' was the realization that their attempts to stop heat death is futile. So he decides to make the most is pretty much eternal life...by having fun. Ironically, one could say his realization at the futility of their efforts and deciding to go off on his own is probably the biggest advancement the entities ever had. Too bad the rest are too stuck in their ways, and thus label it as insanity.

My handwave reasoning to make my idea valid in universe is longer than my actual idea....
ONE: entropy is the order of the universe to become more random, not heatdeath, so it isn't really a power.
ENTHALPY is the order of the universe to have things release energy.

ENTHALPY is the order of the universe to have things release energy.

The heat death of the universe is when it reaches thermodynamic equilibrium (maximum entropy). Which means all the energy in the universe has been used and converted to thermal energy, and thus no processes of any kind can be done.

Carlos spends the whole time complaining about how brutal they're being whilst Taylor is quietly worshipping this hunk of a boy who's willing to go along with all of her plans to solve crime™ - I imagine it could actually be pretty damn good if you found a reason for Carlos not to be in the Wards.

I have an idea, have an incident which rather publically removes Shadow Stalker from the Wards, and due to blame been passed around, Aegis is scapegoated for "not keep a close eye on Shadow Stalker", so Aegis goes independent Hero and eventually teams up with Taylor, as a new crime fighting duo.

Edit: The Taylor/Regent snips have given me another plot bunny

afaik Enthalpy is just how much heat is in a system
"shrug"
Eh,
still not sure how entropy will be used as a power.
(My sayings are what my chemistry teacher is teaching, soooooo)

still not sure how entropy will be used as a power.

I would say, if it was scaled down in order to target individuals or just encompass a wide area around Taylor...

It would put a full stop on any chemical reactions I think, including the one's that allow organisms to function. As in, no more Citric Acid Cycle to keep the cells alive in your body.

Or maybe it just completely annihilates anything it touches, making it instantly achieve maximum entropy, and is thus automatically converted to thermal energy. So that warm breeze you just felt? Totally the guards out in front.
