Wormverse ideas, recs, and fic discussion thread 1

Thanks, but that's a little to brief too be a synopsis.
Vicky got doused in Crawlers acid and he used a car to break her 1 hit shield.

Amy dragged her off to somebody's house and started... trying to fix Vicky. But she was so fucked in the head that she kept twisting Vicky to be her 'idea' of Vicky and not the real Vicky. This included her trying to also fix the Behavioral modification and failing, essentially twisting Vicky into a loveslave...

Amy had a huge breakdown and demanded they birdcage her because she couldn't fix Vicky.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

Another thing.
Those with Power(1.1)
Danny Hebert stared. He stared at the great monstrosity destroying his town, his lifeline, everything he tried so hard to fix, so hard to help.
He watched it all slowly flood as the water flowed, destroying the buildings of his town.
And he watched as a boy, 14 maybe, stood on the air and faced Leviathan, Destroyer of Japan, and the Endbringer that Danny hated personally.
And the most strange part to him.
The boy was WINNING.
Shrouded in a silver glow, glowing blades surrounding him like a child's drawing of a star, the Endbringer was steadily pushed back, giant chunks of flesh flying off, raining in the distance. It roared and shambled, and tried to fight back, but everything that touched the boy fell apart, and yet another piece of flesh sliced off.
And he watched.
Until he passed out.

Interesting, but without more snip, we really can't make anything of this...

Meh,
I'm of the opinion that Vicky could have avoided it by just not running off to fight the S9
That's not what happened.

Vicky already was joining the Wards when the S9 came to town and volunteered to fight them. Then Amy had a breakdown, Vicky tried to comfort her, Amy mind-fucked her and told her all her secrets (she probably should have led with the secrets instead of the mind-rape), Vicky leaves furious and in shock, fights Crawler to keep Cache alive, gets speed-blitzed and acided, healed slightly by Amy, put into Coma/Suggestive state by Amy, then Amy talks to Jack who fucks her up even more, and then we get Giger Girl.

The last we see of Glory Girl is Taylor leaving her next to Amy during Golden Mourning, with the hopeful implication that she'd fix her. Hopefully.

Glory Girl

***************

It was the wind that woke her. Not enough to be a nuisance thanks to her force-field, but strong enough that it was obvious and slightly overbearing.

Why is it so windy in my own room?

Victoria Dallon groggily opened her eyes, blinking hard.

And then promptly screamed.

She was high in the air, high enough that the clouds seemed only a few feet above her. What worried her most however, was the fact that they were moving farther and farther away and the ground was getting closer and closer.

"Shit!" she shouted. She twirled in the air, struggling for balance, her left arm slightly tangled around her white-cape. She willed for her power, to fly and control her descent. For a brief moment, barely long enough for a heartbeat, she felt nothing and fear filled her being. Her power was gone, abandoning her in her time of need for the first and possibly last time.

Then the all too familiar sensation of her power, of control, made its way into her mind.

Like riding a bike the power of flight came all too easily to her, and she instinctively controlled her descent, slowing considerably. Victoria had begun the process of untangling her arm from her cape when she heard it. Above her, a figure was flailing in the air, the sound of shouting increasing as it closed the distance. Other figures were spread out in the sky as well, shouting just as loud. It took her a few moments before she recognized the Ward leader.

Weld.

The others, were by process of elimination, the Wards themselves. Even from the considerable distance, she could see a few capes bellowing from the wind like hers had been, arms and legs kicking out in vain.

"Shit, shit, shit!" She rocketed upwards, pushing her body to its fullest. The fastest she had flown before had been 80 miles per hour in a straight line, though it had been cut short after her cousins clearly couldn't keep up with her. She had never once gone that fast again, as much as she'd have like to. Now she was nearly reaching said speed, willing herself to go faster every second.

Weld has flipped over now, front facing the coming ground and had clearly seen Victoria, if the shouts directed at her were any indication. There was no way of telling what was being said of course, but the urgent tone caused her to slow ascent.

Dumb, she thought as he inched closer by the second. Had she not done so, she might have sheared the metallic teen in half by pure force. As it was, they collided in mid-air, hard enough that her force-field popped and the sound of metal crunching filled the air.

They tumbled as they fell together, both trying to recover from the devastating blow. Victoria cursed as her cape once again got tangled slightly with her arm and her hair billowed in front of her, nearly obscuring her vision. Weld had hooked his arm around her neck, shouting, "Ease into it! Ease into it damn it!"

Victoria winced, Heard you the first time, and felt her force-field pop into place a second later. She latched onto the arm around her neck hard enough to leave indents in the metal, then forced her flight into overdrive. The sudden resistance was halting and unpleasant for both of them, but it was enough for her to get their bearings and once more untangle her cape.

Weld shifted his weight around, his chest against her back, "What the hell is-"

"No time!" Victoria shouted, eyes roving from figure to figure as they passed her by a wide margin, "Which one is closer?"

Weld paused for a split second, then nodded, not that she could see it. He glanced around, searching. He found what he was looking for and pointed, "There!" he said.

Victoria didn't waste time arguing.

Once more she was soaring through the sky in the direction he pointed out, feeling only a bit of chill from the wind, most of the pressure coming from Weld's grip and her own pounding heart. The figure was one of the smaller ones, and it took barely a second for the name to click into place.

Vista. Even with the green visor concealing the upper-half of her face, it was clear that the youngest Ward was unconscious, her expression almost serene. Her skirt was flapping violently in the wind and her short-blonde hair seemed to have been forcefully pulled from underneath her helmet.

Within moments Victoria was within touching distance, slowing to match her pace and prevent another mishap like with Weld. Gently as she could, she gripped Vista in her arms, hugging the girl to her chest.

She didn't respond.

"We need to wake her up!" Weld said.

"Got it!" I hope this works.

She hugged the girl closer to her chest and then blasted her aura, bringing all its power to bare. Weld didn't seem affected, his grip remaining steady as always.

Vista, however, acted like someone had zapped her with electricity. She gasped in shock and Victoria could feel her grip on her clothes tighten in panic. After a few moments of panicked struggling, Vista pushed herself away from Victoria's chest and glanced around, highly alert.

Her eyes met her leader's own as he peered behind Victoria's back.

"What the fuck?!"

"Vista, need some space!" At her uncomprehending look, he barked the order, "Space now damn you!"

She reacted like she had been slapped, but after a moment Victoria could feel the world around them extend. It was almost nauseous to Victoria and she had to fight to keep her lunch from leaving her stomach. The ground beneath them seemed so much farther, and the figures much more distant.

Which was not what they needed at all.

"Don't push us away from the others!" Victoria said, eyeing the falling figures leaving them behind, careful not to focus too much on the distortion.

"What?!"

"Vista," Weld interrupted, "Bring us to the closest person! Look around us!"

Victoria slackened her hold on the girl allowing her to twist around. She could see the girl's expression twist first into shock, then grim understanding. She loosened a hand and pointed, "There!"

She didn't wait for anything else to be said. Victoria rocketed to where another lone figure was falling through the sky, most likely unconscious from the lack of flailing. After a brief moment she once again felt the feeling of space bending, though this time in front of her and not nearly as nauseating. Her speed seemed to triple, excelling her to speeds she could only imagine, and allowing her to be inches from the next target.

Clockblocker.

With one arm around Vista, she reached out to grasp the boy's hand and drag him to safety.

Only for him to suddenly stop. Victoria over-shot massively, nearly spinning out of control as she reoriented herself to face where Clockblocker had been before. She ignored Weld's curses as he slammed against her back and Vista's screams of protest as she was once more pushed into her chest.

Clockblocker laid completely and unnaturally still in mid-air, and Victoria thought she could hear some frantic shouting on his part.

"He froze himself," she said plainly, gasping for breath.

A small silence. Vista palmed her helmet, "Goddamn it Clock."

"We can't wait for him," Weld said, shifting his weight once more, "He'll keep freezing himself to keep from falling. Vista, whose closest next?"

Victoria spun, giving Vista more sight.

She blinked. Vista noticed at the same time and smiled, "I think he's got it covered."

Flying towards them was a red and gold figure, futuristic armor gleaming in the midday sun almost to the point of blinding her. A jetpack, no, hover-pack, blasted out a glowing energy from his armored back as he made his way closer to the trio.

Kid Win.

"Kid." Weld said, echoing her thoughts, "You magnificent son of a gun."

The Tinker held cargo in both arms: an unconscious Chariot hanging limply against his shoulder pauldrons and a grimacing Flechette who was practically squeezing her body against Kid's own.

I wonder if he'd enjoy it in any other situation.

Vista warped the space between the two fliers, only stopping when the two trio's were only a foot away from the other. Kid Win shot Vista a grateful smile before glancing at Victoria, then focusing on Weld. The dismissal bothered her more than it should have.

"So… I don't even know where to begin." Kid spoke, shrugging slightly as he looked around.

"Questions later," Flechette said between clenched teeth, "Land. Now. Please?"

Victoria felt Weld russle behind her, "No can do. Clock froze himself. We're going to have to wait it out."

Flechette scowled even harder.

"How long does his power last again?" Victoria interjected, "Will we have to wait long?"

A scream echoed above them before she even finished her sentence. "Ahhh fucking fuck!"

Everyone looked up. Clockblocker was once more suspended in mid-air, this time in a much more frantic pose, his arms and legs in haphazard positions much like he was clawing at the air.

"…Maybe we should head up there." Victoria said.

A round of nods followed that statement and the trio head upwards, each on either side of the frozen Ward.

Victoria could hear the frantic panting beneath the white exterior, oddly in time with the ticking of the second-hand of the digital clocks. Kid Win brought himself closer to Clockblocker's helmet, giving the Ward a salute, "Hey bud, how's it hanging?"

There was a palpable silence from the frozen Ward, "…Kid I swear on my mother's grave that you better be ready to catch me. I will so fucking haunt your ass if I fall to my horrible, horrible death."

"Relax Clock, I've got you." Victoria said, smiling as wrapped an arm under the frozen boy's suit.

"Oh. Hey Glory Girl. Is the gang all here?"

"Yep." "Right here Clock." "Yes." "Uh Chariots still unconscious, but yeah, he's here."

He sighed in relief, "Thank god. How, uh, how high are we."

Victoria looked down and let loose a low whistle.

"See that? That is the opposite of helpful."

"I could tell you the numbers if you'd like." Kid Win piped up.

Clockblocker was silent for a moment, "Fuck it. I just want to get down."

Everyone was in agreement with that decision. Victoria waited patiently for a few minutes until Clockblocker's power ran out, dropping him softly into her waiting arm. He had her in a tight death grip as she lowered them down, arms wrapped around just below her chest, but she was willing to let it slide out of good faith.

Besides Vista was doing the same thing, even as she used her power to quicken the landing. Victoria scouted the area as they descended, eyes and ears alert for any trouble that may rear it's head. Kid Win was most likely doing something similar, but it never hurt to keep it up.

Out on the horizon, she noticed something. A small silhouette in the far distance, possibly a town or city. What I wouldn't kill for some binoculars right now.

They touched ground eventually, and Victoria sagged in relief, knees plunging into rough dirt. Vista and Clockblocker both let go of their respective death grips, with Clockblocker lying flat on his back and Vista retching off on her own. Once Weld removed himself from his back, she made it a point to stand and walk to the younger girl.

There wasn't much she could do for the girl as she hocked up spittle, so Victoria settled for small pats on the back and the gentle reassurance of her aura. Vista for her part merely met her gaze and nodded slowly, taking deep gasps of air.

Off to the side, Kid Win was helping Chariot to his feet, apparently filling him in on what had happened. Flechette wondered over to Victoria and Vista, cradling her over-sized crossbow. She gave a worried nod in Vista's direction. Victoria only shrugged.

Not much I can do now. I'm not my sister.

That stray thought struck like lightning. Victoria looked around, suddenly aware that her sister wasn't around. Only what appeared to be a deserted greeted her search.

"Where the hell are we?" She murmured.

Weld, Kid Win, and Chariot join her group, with Clockblocker slowly making his way to his feet.

"My phone's busted," Weld said as he held out his own, "Anyone got working comms?"

There was rustle of clothing and gear, followed by a chorus of negatives.

"Not even my radio equipment is activating. Which shouldn't be possible." Kid Win pointed at his visor, "How about yours Chariot?"

"Nada. Shit, I thought you said this design was EMP proof man?"

Kid Win shrugged, "Me too. Lab tested it out and everything. Must have been a different channel of interference. Maybe something sub-sonic?"

"Nah," Chariot said, "I made sure none of my stuff got screwed over after I heard the Nine were going to be here. I don't want to be cornered without working gear."

Victoria frowned, "Are you guys thinking the Nine did this? Dropped us out of the sky?"

"I wouldn't put it past those assholes." Clockblocker said. Vista scowled and looked around quickly, as though the mere mention of the name would summon them.

Weld brought a hand to his chin, rubbing it thoughtfully, "I don't think so. This doesn't match their M.O. I feel. Why go to all the trouble of knocking us out, just to drop us from the sky? How would they even do something like that? Hell, it takes a lot just to get me tired, let alone unconscious. What would be their end-game?"

"Bouncing off that question," Vista spoke up, "Where the hell are we?"

Every cape looked at each other, questioning glances and shrugs given in response. Kid Win fiddled with his visor and then his arm-band.

After a few moments he scratched his head, "Well, this isn't good."

"Your GPS say the same thing?" Chariot asked?

"Yep." At the questioning glances he sighed, "Me and Chariot hooked up our travel tech to several PRT-verified satellites, to better route my teleport tech and his auto-travel you know? Well… we can't connect to them."

Victoria crossed her arms and floated slightly above the ground, her brow furrowed in thought. Tinker tech was not one of her strong suits, as adequately intelligent as she was, and judging by lack of understanding from the other Wards besides Chariot, she was not alone in that regard. It was a cold comfort though.

Something's wrong. She glanced out into the desert surrounding them, biting her lip. Very wrong.

She hated feeling this. Powerless. Too often it reminded her of her younger years, no powers and no security. It reminded her of seeing Dean's lifeless body on the hospital bed.

Victoria bit her lip harder. Where was she? Was her Dad okay? Her Mom, Amy? What about her cousin and aunt? The thought of them being in a similar situation as her filled her with dread, a feeling that she had been having plenty of in the past weeks.

Some of it must have leaked into her aura. Vista and Clockblocker were giving her worried glances as they waited for Kid to elaborate. Victoria did her best to center herself, taking slow and deep breaths, forcefully clamping down on her aura.

She didn't feel better. But she'd cope for now, she felt. Easy as pie.

Weld was speaking, "I'm not sure what you're getting at Kid. The satellites are just gone?"

Kid frowned, "That… or they never existed."

Victoria felt her blood run cold, "No. That's… what?!" She was wrong it seemed. Coping was not going to be easy.

"Am I missing something?" Vista asked, eyeing Victoria.

Clockblocker spoke up, "What I think Kid is saying, is that they don't have those satellites here. Never have."

"Never have?" Flechette asked. Victoria saw Welds eyes widen in realization, even as prick of water began to gather in her own.

"This isn't Brockton Bay," Chariot spoke up, spitting at the ground next to him, "This isn't our Earth."

I thought at some point GG was used as a meatshield due to her insanely strong but one-hit force field that managed to tank a Scion-blast?

Precogs in Worm. We have Dinah. Who else? Any examples of their powers working? If not, give me precog examples to use.
