Winter Rose (Worm/Steven Universe) (Alt Power+Crossover)

Yes. This is the best idea

Cut to Crystal (she of the lasers and the dreams) holding a camera and panning it across a beat up Brockton Bay street. Panacea and Taylor (standing on a milk-crate) come into frame.

"Hello clods of Brockton Bay! Welcome to the first ever live YouTubeized Bowling for Nazis Competition."

"In the left corner," Amy says as the camera tilts up to the roof of a building "We have the wonderful! The Splendid! The original Alexandria of Brockton Bay, Glory Girl of New Wave!"

"And playing Beast to her Beauty, we have the Interstellar Lady of Mayhem, Amethyst of the Crystal Gems!" Taylor cheerfully announced.

"In the other corner," Taylor kept talking as the camera panned across the street to a different rooftop. "The Mistress of Heavy Metal, Bismuth of the Crystal Gems!"

"And joining her, we have, from Team Don't Tell Battery He's Here, Totally Not Assault of the Totally Not Protectorate!" The camera focused in on Assault, but wearing a pair of Groucho Marx glasses over his mask.

"Now, won't you join us", both announcers and both teams said as they jumped down onto the street "for Bowling! For! Nazis!"

Cuts to the first round. The camera is panned in close on Amy and Taylor's face as they hide around a corner, and explain the rules.

"... are worth 15 points, but remember that collateral damage detracts from your score." Amy said.

"And with the Collateral Damage Barbie herself playing bowler this rounds, we'll have to see how it balances out." Taylor said as the camera panned over to Glory Girl wrapping Amethyst's whip around one arm and spinning to build up speed. The rotation formed something like a purple and gold buzzsaw in the air, at least until Amethyst let go of the whip and soared though the air like a glowing, exuberant comet. Which is to say, nothing like a comet.

"Oh, there she goes through the car. And the Warehouse."

"Ah but see how Glory Girl aimed her to bounce up. I think she might make it into the Boat Graveyard, which would be worth some extra points."

"Let's cut to out judges and see how she landed and what it could be worth."

The camera cuts to an aerial view with Mark and Neal of New Wave (in referee shirts over their costumes). They watch the action through binoculars, then huddle together to make a ruling. A couple second later, they straighten up, and make a complicated series of hand gestures.

"And it's good! That could lead to an early lead for Glory Girl and Amethyst!"

Cuts to final judging.

"... and for bouncing Alabaster into Hookwolf and landing both of them in a pallet of glitter, the victory goes to Totally Not Assault and Bismuth!"

"Thank you! Thank you! I'd like to dedicate this victory to punching things really hard," Bismuth said, while Assault proclaimed "And I'd like to dedicate this to Totally Not Battery, who hopefully won't ask where this trophy came from."

There would definitely be a difference from Steven's fusions, as we can see with the noticeable difference between Rainbow Quartz and Rainbow Quartz 2.0

The Gems seem to be stronger than they are in the show, the most noticeable example being Peridot. You have to wonder if any of the other gems have had any similar advances in their abilities.

As a full gem prob wouldn't make sense (and means avoiding he headache of designing new fusions).
New fusions are coming either way, I already have some in mind.

Peridot only discovered her abilities in the latter half of the show, and then got very little screen time to develop them. Nonetheless she advanced incredibly quickly. I just extrapolated this growth rate forward for a... while.

Pearl, Garnet, and Bismuth are all seasoned warriors already so they didn't have as much room to grow. Amethyst is kind of a middle ground, who had been fighting for a while but had never had to fight seriously until Jasper showed up, but then closed the gap significantly before sealing the deal via fusion.

I wonder. Would taylor be able to fuse with humans, or can't due to her full gem nature?

Honestly I wonder if that was because Rose she couldn't, that she thought she couldn't or that she simply wasn't taking the request from Greg seriously.

Either way her Gem know's how now since it's had experience with Steven so if it wasn't actually possible before it could well be now.

There's also that some Shards might facilitate it with a Parahuman. Shaper obviously but likely other's too with energy forms or other shapeshifting.

Amethyst was also held back by her issues which Steven helped her work through. I wonder if they'll be any resurgence in those now that Steven's gone either because she couldn't help him or because there was some level of using him as a crutch rather than truely getting over everything. I doubt the last to be honest but it's not impossible.

I also wonder if Steven knew what was coming he left a recording for his successor with Pearl like his mother did for him.

Hey you guys wanna know about an irony?

One of the biggest things that frustrated me about Steven Universe is that it never actually did enough episodes where real story happened and spent way too much time doing dumb slice of life episodes with the fucking townies.

And all I can come up with for this story is more dumb bullshit with the townies of Brockton Bay.

That's okay. The best townie episodes were the ones that hinted at something building up in the background. Like when Aquamarine showed up. So maybe what you need is some villain perspectives.

I kinda get that right now. I finally got off my ass to write my own fanfic (Worm/Exalted crossover) and remember some of my criticism from early on. The bits about "the story is moving too fast" and "you can use this for character building". Yeah well, now I'm kinda eating my words since I can't balance speed vs overly in depth descriptions of day to day life for "character building".

My advice on Townie Stories is that the townies of Brockton Bay include jackasses like Hookwolf and Mush, so "Townies" has a pretty broad meaning. Even friendly contests with the wards or new wave can have a lot action and tension in them. I guess, if it's not too much of a spoiler, what Townies are you thinking of including?

Vicky and the New Wave bunch are featuring obviously. Wards stuff is likely to pop up too. Really wish I could find somebody to do PHO segments for me. :V

Also, link me that story, it's only right I go through yours too.

And try as I might, I couldn't quite focus on it properly; the best she could get was a strange glittering impression of something that was meant to go there.

Meant to? Where did that come from? I swore she could hear her thoughts echoing in the gentle breezy sounds of... wherever this was. Come to think of it, what WAS this? Not that I wasn't grateful to be out of the locker, but... was this supposed to be heaven?
Went to reread and noticed that this went back and forth between "I" and "she."

Vicky and New Wave are pretty fun though. I'm not even sure I'd consider them townies really. Not in the SU sense. The townies in SU were normal humans who couldn't fight the gem based threats. Parahumans can. And vice versa. Maybe for Vicki/Wards, a joint patrol of some sort with some action to show off Gem abilities working with parahuman abilities?

I can try my hand at a PHO interlude. I played around with the PHO generator a bit for my own story. Let me know what you want them to be about. I make no guarantee of quality though.

As for my story, I haven't posted it yet. I want to build up a buffer. I'll PM you a link to the raws if you're curious.

Sure, I don't mind reading raws.

If you really don't mind doing it, just a quick few pages from Taylor's "Mystery Cape" PHO thread would be fun, just using little bits of info that people would pick up from the course of the story.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I love this story. You've done a great job of balancing the disparate tones of SU and Worm, and I'm looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

Was it confirmed that was resurrection, not just reviving him? Modern medicine can arguably bring back the recently dead by restarting their heart beat and such.
Well, he was dead to start with, and then he was alive and pink. I would be mildly surprised if it didn't only work on the recently dead, but the effects of Pink's resurrection are definitely more than just restarting the body. Aside from the obvious colour change, it turns their hair into a portal into Pink's pocket dimension.
I don't remember whether or not [NAME REDACTED] had vital signs after being Pink'd, or if that even came up, but I definitely get the impression that it was a full-on return to life from death rather than just 'rebooting' the body.

His vital signs did indeed come up explicitly, in that his heart now beats like once every thirty or forty seconds.

This story is a delight, and I can't wait to see the full reactions to Amethyst.

Kind of curious how things with the villains will fall out, especially as Taylor has a support system that isn't Lisa and kind-of the Undersiders.

On the one hand, SU is notorious for redemption arcs, which I am always down for. On the other, Worm is... not. That said, I'm sure whatever gets chosen will be handled well - the character interactions are well written and in most cases heartwarming.

Keep up the good work!
