What is an Inquisition? (WH40K, Acolyte of an inquisitor quest)

Into Darkness
You nod to Roblix, after his explanation of what is going to happen. You look to Arron, "so it has been a year since I left the Schola Progenum." You tell him. "Is Adept Amerus still refusing to bathe regularly?" You ask.

Arron's nose wrinkles from the memory and replies to you "Yes, he still smells of curdled milk and piss."

"What path has the Schola assigned to you? I was chosen to go to the Administratum, but I managed to avoid that fate by volunteering for the sisters of battle. The minor order militant that holds sway on this world to guard the Ecchlisiarchy next door. The administratum couldn't stop me from volunteering once I came of age. I think life among the Adepts would have killed me."

Arron shakes his head "I was selected for the Arbites, like my father before me. He died during the last uprising on planet, 12 years ago."

You gasp, and grab the flower in glass from your bag, clasping it tightly. "My parents both died as well during the uprising. My father was a guardsman stationed with the 12th home guard regiment, and my mother was an adept at the dockyard where it first erupted."

He sniffles a bit and says to you, "I barely remember his face. My mother died when I was barely old enough to walk. A wasting sickness took her."

You nod and then tell Arron, "Well, we're going to be safe soon, but you must remember to be mindful of what you say. It may get a bit uncomfortable for everyone once we arrive. Chaos cults have a habit of making everyone paranoid. Prepare yourself."

"Roblix do you know if there are any Sororitas where we are going?"

"I would think there would be a few to coordinate the defence of the planet, but they might not have made it yet, depending on how bad the fighting is. This uprising was not expected at all."

You smile and reply with a laugh "Aye, never any warning with cultists." You giggle out.

"Oh, before I forget to ask, how well equipped was the group that attacked the Schola, Arron?" He looks up from where he was fidgeting and say "At least one hundred, with several Rhino ground transports, a few heavy weapons, but mostly stubber and hand stubber projectile weapons. The leader did have power armor and a power sword, but the rest were in leathers in the main."

Roblix nods and says "That's good intelligence. Thank you, Arron." The robotic tones of Roblix's voice interjects.

"We're here" Kerra states before you look around and see you are surrounded by mostly guardmen, with a few tech-priests here and there. Roblix rolls down his window and begins "Gentlemen, I've got intelligence for Magos Sycilt." Before his voice devolves into the screeching speech of Binary. The nearest Priest returns his screeching, before waving you through. As you're pulling away you look to Roblix "Rank has priveleges, you know."

You do indeed know this lesson.

Far away in a familiar land
Chapter one has ended. 170 XP banked. Fate points have been restored to full capacity.

"Arron, would you like to accompany me as my assistant?" You ask him, as the car rolls to a stop at an intersection in front of one of the towers labelled "Myrmidex Prime - College of Tactics". The street is packed full of men and equipment. Mostly tech-adepts and slave-warriors, but there does appear to be several squads of Imperial Guardsmen mixed among them. The personnel are bustling from place to place, mostly with purpose and an upbeat positive morale.

Awareness is an untrained skill. Perception is 35, -20 untrained penalty, -30 difficulty modifier. Modified test is -15, must roll 01 to succeed. Rolled 31, 5 DoF from -15 (modified test).

You look around as you step out of the car. "Yes, sister. What is your name?" He asks you, after following you out of the car. "Lucindia" you reply.

Roblix turns to you, after he exits the vehicle. "I need to make my report, do you have anything to add to it?" He directs his gaze first to you, then to Kerra. You shake your head when it returns to you.

He nods once before beginning to walk off, then turns back and orders, "Kerra, help her find some of the sororitas or transport to the chapel. Come find me once you have accomplished that. I expect we will have another assignment by that time." He continues to walk off after that, and Kerra approaches you from around the car. As he walks away you yell out to him, "If you ever need my skills, don't hesitate to call on me!" Roblix turns and smiles at you, then continues his walk.

Kerra says "lets take the things we took from the mob and sell them here. We probobly won't get top prices for them, but we can get something." You nod, and then grab Arron's shoulder. "Come along now, lets get some funds and see if we can find some equipment for you to use. This planet is going to be getting more dangerous before it gets any safer."

Limiting the search for a merchant to buy and sell to here, Kerra makes a commerce test. Fails terribly and uses a fate point to re-roll. Does decently well. Look through the compendium of equipment, anything that is SCARCE or more abundant is available to purchase. Selling nets the group 200 thrones. Parcelled out into thirds (Arron is not getting a share) it is 67 thrones for you to use as you like, in addition to the 150 thrones you already had, you now have 217 thrones.

A/N: Your thrones are now 217. Remember you have a chain blade that is extraneous, since you got the chain sword during character creation. If you want to sell it you can. You'll use Kerra's modifier of -60% listed price on it (40% of listed price recovered at sale).

[$] List out what you will be buying/selling here. Please try to list each item in its own section, like this:
[$] Guns
[$] Ammo
[$] Armor
[$] more armor

/A/N.

After browsing the shops with Kerra and Arron, you bring up your next goal "Let's find some transportationor sisters here. Where would be a good place to find either, do you think?"

She sucks in some air, then chews on her lip a bit before finding the words. "Transports will likely be in short supply and I have no idea if there will be any sisters here. We can try to find either ourselves or we could attempt to ask around. Unless you have a different idea?"

[^] (Action) look yourself with Awareness <Per>.
[^] (Action) ask around with Inquiry <Fel>.
[^] (Action) convince an adept (scribe) to help with Charm <Inf> or Intimidate (S)
[^] (Action) something else (write-in).

After making that decision, you need to decide on the focus of the search.

[*] (Search) look for transport (-10 penalty)
[*] (Search) look for sisters of battle (no penalty)
[*] (Search) look for both (-20 penalty)

Voting will complete Friday night at 10 pm CST and hope to have chapter out by 10 am Saturday morning.

Servants of the Emperor
Kerra's commerce is tested. Two degrees of success. Slight discount of 10% on purchased goods.

"The goods and services you will be providing the Mechanicus and its Allies would be invaluable. I'm certain that the goodwill you woulf gain with a discount would far exceed any pain caused by giving us a... tiny discount. Say 20%?" Kerra says. You have to admit, she seems to be good at haggling.

"I can't be undercut so heavily. I will offer 7 percent." He responds back, Kerra shakes he head no on the number seven and counters with "twelve percent." "Absolutely not. 10, final offer."

Kerra smiles at him "Thank you good sir. What did you need, Lucindia?" She asks you while piling a few items onto the small metal table set up on the side of the road. It looks like all she wants are krak grenades.

You had your eyes on a few things, and quickly grab them from the shelves set up next to the table. Three grenades, a micro-bead, magnoculars, and a respirator with a full bottle of air attached.

135 thrones change hands, and you shovel all but the micro-bead into your bag. You instead take that in your hand and turn around to face Arron.

"Kid, this has a range of about one kilometer. Keep it in your ear, and don't change the channel. At the first sign of trouble, call for help." You tell him.

Tech use <Int> test to set up the microbead. Tech-use is untrained. Int is 42, -20 untrained, +60 unhurried commonplace tech ritual for pairing micro-beads. 82 required to succeed on test. Rolled 05, for 8 DoS. Increased disposition with Kerra by 5.

He quickly sets it in his ear after you go through the holy ritual of pairing micro-beads. Kerra nods approvingly at you, when you turn back to her and the merchant.

"Let's go see what we can find, sister."

You noticed previously the Adeptus Administratum had several adepts among the throngs of tech-priests and guardsmen bustiling through the camp. Now, you approach the closest one, a man in his middle years, at least 30 kilos overweight and 2.1 meters tall. His eyes suddenly snap to yours as you approach, then briefly down your body, wearing the form fitting bodyglove, before returning his eyes to yours. He is manning a small desk that has a sign printed on the front "Requisition requests - 22nd Rhodinian Battalion, Epsilon company."

You are:
[_] (Sexuality) Unsure of how you feel about being eyed like that. <no decision at this time.>
[_] (Sexuality) Enjoying the attention. <Like men>
[_] (Sexuality) Deeply offended. <Dislike men>

"Ser, we would have a word with you." You say as you get close enough to be heard over the din of the crowd. He nods his head, then walks around the desk to stand before you.

[÷] (Bodyglove style) His eyes stay locked on yours for the rest of the conversation. <Conservative cut. No skin showing other than your hands and head. Flat boots. Worn a bit looser than normal bodygloves.>
[÷] (Bodyglove style) His eyes drift to your cleavage occasionally, during the conversation. <Stylish cut. Hands, wrists, head are bare and a v-neck type top. Small heel in boots. Tighter fit>
[÷] (Bodyglove style) His eyes frequently move to your legs, backside and cleavage. <Liberal cut. As stylish, with taller heels, very tight fit, deeper v-neck and tiny Acquilla (Eagle shaped) cutouts up and down your legs in the style of the Order Famulous)>

You frequently adjust your bag while speaking to the adept. "How are you, ser? I am Novitiate Lucindia, Order Militant Minoris, Chapel of the Emperor's Light, Rhodin IV. May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" You flirt with him.

His forehead begins to perspire, as he responds to you "My lady, I am Scribe Atreus. Attached as logistics officer to the 22nd Battalion." You nod, and smile at him.

"I seem to have lost my way, Ser. Where can I find my sisters?" You ask

Charm <Fel> test. Charm is trained. Fellowship is 33, +10 for being an Imperial citizen, +20 for being a beautiful young woman. Must roll 63 or less. Rolled 62, 1 DoS.

He responds back "I haven't heard of any of the Order Militant being here, sister. I know the Order Hospitaller has set up on the North East edge of the encampment and the Order Famulous has a single advisor with the war council." He explains to you.

You nod your head in thanks. "I appreciate the help, may the Emperor protect you." You bless him as you leave him.

Kerra giggles a bit as you return and Arron looks like he bit into a sour fruit. "I don't like the way he was looking at you." Arron says as he scowls at the man behind you. Kerra giggles harder, then after catching her breath mamages to say "You had him wrapped around your finger!"

You smile at Arron and say "It's okay, kid. I needed his information. Let's get going. We are going to ..." you say.

Sorry for the late post. Voting will end at 10 pm CST and I'll do my best to pump out a chapter before I go to sleep tonight.

I did not give chainblade to Arron because it was not in the plan, if you still want to give it to him, let me know in the next plan.

Searching.
Winning sexuality - likes men
Winning clothing style - stylish
Winning plan - What's up doc

Navigate (surface) <Int> test called. Navigate is untrained. Intelligence is 42, -20 untrained penalty, +30 signage pointing in proper directions. Must roll 52 or less to succeed. Rolled 53, one DoF. You wander for twice the time it would normally take to walk there. In this case yu wander for 30 minutes before finding it.

As you head in the direction of the NE part of the camp, occasionally following signs pointing north or east, you ask Arron "What kind of weapon training have you received so far in the Schola, Arron?"

He glances in that direction, then comes faces forward again "I haven't received any weapons training yet. I've been working on knowledge of the Imperium and reading and writing in Low Gothic. They have also started me on basic awareness training. My cohort was still too young to be learning any weapons, according to some in the Administratum. I have signed up for a class on shock weapons, for next trimester, but that is looking farther away than it looked yesterday, sister."

You shake your head and reply, "That's a waste. I have an extra chainblade, but I'm concerned that if you handle it badly it will take an arm or a leg clean off of you. For now, we will have you stick with no weapons, and hope for the best."

Kerra shakes her head "A hold-out melee weapon *is* good, but a ranged weapon is much better."

[%] (plan) plan name
-[=] (respond to Kerra) Agree, disagree or something else <write-in>.

As you continue to wander you chat some more with your companions, "How was your schooling going, Arron?" You ask.

He eyes you for a second before saying "I was passing, but not by a lot."

"This is going to sound cliche, but classes will help shape the man you become. Without it, you will not be able to deal with the world as it is. It would be a real shame if you died because you couldn't understand a written warning or missed a landmine and lost your legs, yeah?"

He doesn't respond verbally, instead nodding his head and looking uncomfortable.

Eventually after wandering around the camp you see the field tent of the Hospitallers in the distance. You get the attention of your companions and then head in that direction.

You step in to find the building half empty, and most of the wounded are either recovering from massive wounds long since past or minor wounds more recently obtained. A pair of sisters were working here, moving between beds and up and down the aisles.

"Hello, the shop, sisters! I have come seeking aid, to return to the Chapel of the Emperor's light."

"One moment, sister." A nurse calls, feeding a woman without arms, laying upright on a bed. The other does not acknowledge you at all as she sets a broken bone from her position closest to the door.

Remember you may use fate points for listed effects whenever you like.

Surprise!
You reply to Kerra, "Fighting in melee is not for everyone. But it is necessary to learn with at least one weapon in the event someone gets into your personal space looking to do you harm." You take your laspistol and carefully hand it to Arron, and tell him "Arron, you must practice with this weapon every day, you must learn to shoot while laying prone, while walking or running, shoot it with one hand or with two, while your carrying a lot of weight, when you are exhausted, when you are distracted, and when you are carrying a second weapon, even a dummy training weapon. Before you get the wrong idea, kid, I am still working on many of these things myself. You will need to be able to do all of these things and more, to have a good chance of surviving as a servant of the emperor. Some planets citizens can be completely terrible in a fight, but that will never be us."

Positive disposition change with both.

------------

Later, in the tent of the Order Hospitaller .

Charm <Fel> test because they don't know who you are, yet. Fellowship is 33, charm is trained, mood/personality of one is friendly and talkative giving a +20 bonus to charm tests. Mood/personality of the other is upset and stressed giving a +5 bonus to charm tests. For each it is 53 and 38 respectively. Rolled 60 for 1 DoF and 3 DoF. -1 and -3 disposition respectively.

Upon seeing your sisters, you greet them "Praise the Emperor that I have sisters as great as you. I am Novice Lucindia of the Chapel of the Emperor's Light, Order Militant. My companions are Runepriest Kerra of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Arron of the Schola Progenum class. We request aid, for we will soon return to the battlefield, if it pleases you, check us for any injuries as well as supplies which the guardsmen here will no longer need."

The sister feeding the soldier calls from the bedside, "Please take a seat, we will be with you momentarily. What mischief has a novice gotten into that has separated her from her Order in the company of a child and a Priest of Mars?"

After she checks you over, she smiles and says "You just have some bruising on your legs and arms, nothing to worry about. Try not to charge into a hail of gunfire in the future, novitiate. In any case you seem to have gathered some attention." She nods at you, then points with her hand at the man having his bone set previously. Now that he has your attention, he begins to speak "That is good advice sister." He says, then smiles at her from his position by the exit to the tent. "It would be even better if the situation never demanded we do, but this is not always the case as you know sister. I am Inquisitor Ludlo of the Ordo Hereticus." He reaches into his coat with his good arm and retrieves his symbol of office, the Inquisitorial Rosary and then continues to speak, "I am afraid that I will have need of your services, ladies. My retinue was ambushed by the forces of chaos cultists and mostly killed. Marie over there, and myself, the only survivors, and not without injuries." He says, while glancing at Marie's armless form. "I am invoking my authority as an Inquisitor to require your services temporarily. Long range communications have been cut off by many jamming devices throughout the city-forge. As a small group you have a better chance of making it through undetected. Using stealth and caution, make it through the hordes roaming the streets and make your way to The Ascent, the forge's largest shipping port, and make your way onto the crusier "Fury of the Blessed". There, you must speak to the captain and the master armsman. My orders to them are to disembark all troops to assist in rooting out the cultists, then to perform fire support mission for the Mechanicus on targets outside or near he edges of the city. The city is noy lost yet, so light ordinance only for targets within the city proper. Will you do this for me, and become my acolytes, ladies? Also, as targets of opportunity, please destroy any jamming stations you encounter." He finishes and waits for your response.

You feel stunned to meet an actual inquisitor. You never thought you would until much later in your career after you have had a chance to make a name for yourself.

1.2.5 part one
Before the inquisitor revealed himself –

Charm <Inf> test, since they know who you are now. Influence is 30, +25 and +10 for dispositions known. Must roll 40 or less to succeed with both individuals. Rolled 87, re-testing with fate point, since instructed to with plan. Rolled 23 for second roll. Passed with 2 DoS, and 5 DoS respectively, also passed with three listeners, Inquistor you did not know was an inquisitor at the time, armless guardswoman and Arron.

"Sister, it is a glorious story of heroism and valor!" you begin, "I was at a manufactory helping to perform religious services for the workers as allowed by the Mechanicus when the attack began." You say, not mentioning that you also managed to find a good hiding spot for a nap in the process.

"I found a place to hide and survey the area when I heard the alarm go off. I waited while people were evacuating the building, until I saw that Genator Roblix and Runepriest Kerra began fighting the cultists that attacked the manufactory from the slave population kept there. Once they were distracted fighting them, I stepped in to assist them end the threat." You continued. "We left with haste after that, Ser Roblix leading our escape, when we encountered a dozen or more cultists chasing young Arron, there." You wave your hand in the direction of Arron, who smiles tightly. "The had come from the Schola Progenum, where they slaughtered the staff and children. There was at least one survivor. After slaughtering the cultists, we received the report of a few hundred well armed cultists at the schola, and decided to avoid them, as a matter of caution. The Imperium needed the intelligence more than it needed the lives of the heretics we could manage to send to the emperor." You finish by saying "That is the end of my tale, sisters, for we made our way here with no further trouble or sightings of the servants of chaos."

She nods to you and replies "You have done well, novice. You may yet go far." And after looking to her partner replies "I am Sister Hospitaller Ameius Porche, and my companion is Sister Superior Rahe Hophste. We are happy to receive you in our tent. I assume that you wish to get back to your order, novice?"

Before you can answer, the man being treated interrupts your conversation.

-Inquisitorial Interrupts with plot hook-
A/N: You're all caught up to the main story again, and continuing.

"I am honored to serve the God-Emperor by being assigned this holy task." You begin, "And while I am willing to do said duty there are some issues which i must raise for this mission to succeed. First, since it is a stealth mission, our current garb and equipment are not right for the tasks we will need to perform, we need darkened clothes or coats to wear over our current garments." You continue, while pointing to the bright red robes of the Mechanicum that Kerra still wears. "Also, your grace, we would also need the disposition of the enemy in the area as well as the latest intelligence available, if it pleases you." He smiles a bit, then outright laughs lightly a bit as you continue, "On this bases, and since speed is of the essence as well, we would need to procure a map, a guide, and a ride to get as close to the port as we can." You close with "Finally, we would need some sign or token from you so that once we get to the ship they will believe that the orders came from the Holy Inquisition and this is not a twisted plot."

Charm <Inf> test. Charm is trained, Influence is 30. +10 from Inquisitor's personality. Must roll 40 or less. Rolled 21, 2 DoS.

"Oh, you certainly are bold, young sister. If you survive, I expect great things from you. Here, have some coin to help you make your preparation." He responds after he stops laughing. Then, he pulls from his belt a sack, before pulling a handful of thrones from it, all large denominations. He hands you 200 thrones in large denominations. Packing the rest back into the bag, he nods once to the Senior Sister. Turning around, his demeanor changes to one that radiates pain and horror, then stumbles out of the tent.

A/N: still working on the rest. Thought you guys deserved what I had ready. I'm sorry to keep you waiting on the rest. I promise here and now to have it out to you before end of day Thursday so you have time to contemplate next steps for the vote.

"Sister, it is a glorious story of heroism and valor!" you begin, "I was a manufactory helping to perform religious services for the workers as allowed by the Mechanicus when the attack began." You say, not mentioning that you also managed to find a good hiding spot for a nap in the process.

"Take this token, and present it to the captain and only the captain. Tell him Excelsior Omega." Turning around, his demeanor changes to one that radiates pain and horror, then stumbles out of the tent.

After he is well and truly gone, you turn to the Sister who has been most friendly and talkative with you, and ask "Do you have a moment to speak to me, in consultation?" She nods her head, then ushers you to a small partitioned "office" within the tent, offering the illusion of privacy without any actual privacy.

Inquiry <Fel> test. Inquiry is untrained. Fellowship is 33, -20 untrained +5 disposition bonus. Must roll 18 or less. You lucky fuckers. Rolled 69 for first roll. Failure automatically rerolled with fate point usage per instruction. Rolled 17, one DoS.

"Was that man truly an Inquisitor? And if he is an inquisitor, what was he doing here and not leading some quest against the damnable cultists?!" You whisper fiercely to Ameius. She must have seen some of the desperation and confusion you felt on your face because her demeanor softens momentarily before whispering back to you, "He is the inquisitor Ludlo (LUDLO). His retinue was leading an operation against these heretics when the fighting broke out. Apparently, the inquisition badly underestimated the number of cultists. They brought a small regiment of fighting men, and were slaughtered nearly to the last man. Nearly 5,000 guardsmen started this fracas with an assault on all known cultists. Only 200 or so survived to the end of the day, after the true number of cultists counter-attacked and the assets of the cult here on planet began revolting en-masse. He may not have shown it to you, but he takes the loss of so many citizens under his command hard." She begins, continuing "Yes, he is not maintaining secrecy. I can't say why for sure, but I think he may have stopped caring about that, at some point today."

You nod as you hear her opinion and ask her "Where do you think I can find individuals to recruit for this mission?"

She visibly considers it for a moment, before saying, "I would recommend asking the Administratum for assistance finding some likely recruits. There are mainly guardsmen and tech-priests here. On the other hand, you might be able to find some mercenary souls if you ask the various peddlers for assistance."

You nod again and say "Thank you for the advice, sister."

You follow the sister out of the "office" and into the main tent area. You ask Kerra, "We need to plan out how we are going to get this mission accomplished. Tell me, what skills you think we will need?"

She makes a show of pausing to think, like she didn't just hear the conversation over a short temporary wall inside of a tent. You appreciate the effort, at least. Eventually she responds "I'm thinking we need someone who knows the city, someone who knows their way around weapons, and someone who is good at hiding and sneaking, who can lead us through the city inconspicuously. Are there any skill sets you think we might need Lucindia?" returning your question.

Command <Fel> test. Untrained. +10 disposition, +10 peer talent. Fellowship is 33, -20, +20. Must roll 33 or less. Rolled 64,

After saying your piece, you turn to Arron and smile at him. "Arron, I have been assigned a holy task and it is probably a suicide mission. I do have a holy task for you, however. Please train yourself in the use or the las pistol and the chainblade" you tell him, then hand him the chainblade from your belt. Then you continue "make yourself useful to the Hospitallers, and discreetly gather/recover discarded/misplaced but useful gear. Additionally, observe everyone as my eyes and ears in the camp and report to me or Kerra, when we get back. If somebody asks you what you are doing with the gear you are collecting, tell them that he is gathering equipment to aid the servants of the Emperor in bringing the fight to the Enemy." Then you pat him on the head, and exit the tent with Kerra.

1.2.6 Everything That Glitters
You respond to Kerra with "You have summed up the situation neatly, but we may also need a vehicle and a driver to expedite the mission." You begin, and Kerra's face lightens up a bit. " I can drive, I may not be as good as Roblix, but I am certainly trained and practiced at it." She says. You smile back then continue "I would like for you to be the team medicae as well." Her smile falls a little before she responds, "I have no training as a medicae. Some of the Myrmidex become medicae, but not all. We may find a Biologis tech-priest here, but we may not. This is primarily a war-priest encampment of the Myrmidex. And I am a Runepriest – Myrmidex. The fighting arm, and the warmasters of the Mechanicus. I am sorry, sister." (You learn a bit about the Mechanicus)

You slowly nod at the new information. "Thank you, Kerra. Please, go explain the situation to Roblix, and see if he has any advice or supplies we can use. Ask about borrowing the vehicle as well." Then you take the pouch of thrones from your belt and hand them to Kerra, trusting her with the funds gifted to you by the Inquisition. "Also, take this money and go find yourself some darker robes and any other supplies we may need. Let me recommend a combat vest for each of us, and an auspex for you to use. And we can never have too many grenades, so get an assortment of them, too."

Now, you are ready to go find your other sister, from the Order Famulous. It is likely that she is of some higher rank, being allowed to sit in on command meetings. You begin walking towards the tower in thr middle of the makeshift camp. That is where Roblix entered to speak to the command council. Your walk is over quickly, arriving again at the tower. Your micro-bead crackles to life momentarily "I've contacted Roblix, and will be meeting him soon. Over." Kerra's voice is transmitted over the holy device. "Understood. Over and out" You reply using the ritual words to end communication. You pass by the groundcar you arrived in, and slip into the foyer of the tower. It's a bustle of activity with guardsmen, PDF, and tech priests busily scurrying to and fro. You make it quite some distance before you are even challenged, and that is by some grizzled veteran who looks perturbed that his subordinates haven't taken care of you before. "Halt. Who goes there." He begins the interaction..

Awareness <Per> is untrained. Perception is 35, -20 untrained, +30 area to search less than 500 square meters, +30 person sized objects are easy to see at ranges less than 20 meters, must roll 75 or less. Rolled 63, 2 DoS.
C.L. (Technology) <Int> is not trained. Intelligence is 42, -20 untrained penalty, -40 rarity penalty, must roll 01 (-18). Rolled 08, 3 DoF.

You continue on, after the encounter looking for the Sister Famulous. You find her 10 minutes later on the third floor.

"Hail sister!" you exclaim after your search ends. The sister is clad in suggestively cut leather clothing with some obvious technology on her hip, but you have no idea what it could be. She turns to you, from the map she is evaluating and says "Novice, I see you have managed to find me. The birds have told me that you have received a holy quest for moderate importance. Tell me, child, why have you sought out Palatine Famulous Reba Achis, Chapel of Noble Bloodlines, Order of the Gate?" She asks you with a smile on her face.

C.L. (Sororitas) <Int> is trained. Intelligence is 42, +40 rank structure is common knowledge. Need 82 to pass. Rolled 30, 6 DoS.

You know that Palatine is the highest ranking officer on a planet for any minor or major order, generally. You know the chapel is just the base of operations for the famulous on the planet. You know that the Order of the Gate is one of the major famulous orders, of the Convent Sanctorum. Your own Order of the Thundering Heart is a minor order of the Orders Militant, of the Convent Sanctorum.

"Lady Achis; I, the novice Lucindia, appear before you this day to request any assistance you may allow. Specifically, a map, or other means of finding our target, some small number of fighting men, and supplies."

Charm <Inf> test. Charm is trained. Influence is 30, +20 for displayed intent to serve the Emperor loyally. Must roll 50 or less. Rolled 42, 1 DoS.

She listens to your words, then says to you with a hint of darker humor, "You are audacious young pup." She holds a hand out to her right, and the younger gentleman standing there hands her the dataslate he was carrying and she asks "Well, give me your dataslate so I can put a map on it for you." You smile gently and retrieve it from your belongings and hand it to Lady Achis. She performs some arcane ritual and the map transfers to your dataslate a moment later. A "Ding" accompanying the transfer. She hands it back to you before returning her attention to the large map. She tells you distractedly "It might be a wise idea to speak to Corporal Horrk of Easy company. They recently have had too many losses to be returned to battle anytime soon. This should be well within their capabilities, but you will need to sell them on this duty. I have no command authority over them."

You step away lightly and exit the building as hastily as you can without attracting too much attention. The only thing you can think of is, how do I find easy company, as you slide the dataslate back into your bag. You step out into the growing darkness of the camp, as the sun completes its setting over the horizon.

-[/] What is your next set of goals.
--[&] How will you complete those goals?
--[%] Prioritize them as you would like to see then done (first thing on top, etc.)

A/N: I did not write out the last bit because your character got the sense that the Lady Achis' patience was ending and that you needed to beat feet to not wear out your welcome.
