I mean first first do we comfort by saying shes fine or is her mother already dead we need to say shes in a better place?
She's still alive, for now. Otherwise Nagisa wouldn't be saying that her mother is really sick.

I mean we could alleviate the pain with some cure spell would make the kid smile at least
but it would just trap her mother in a state where she is poisoned and just drinking hp potions to regain strength but not truly getting better and soon cure wouldn't be enough. Anyone good at comforting children?

Sadly, Ven does not have Tamiko's magic hugs, so I don't know how effective that would be.

You sit on the bench, and let the girl cry into your shirt. You wrap her in your arms, and sympathetically smile at her. "Can I at least get your name?" you ask.
"N-Nagisa..." she stutters, still crying. For about five minutes, you just comfort her. If only Aqua was here. She'd know how to help.... you contemplate asking her what's wrong, but that would rub salt in. Then she looks up and wipes her tears. "Was that bunny always there?"
"Oh, hi, Kyubey," you say to the bunnycat. How did he get here so quickly?!
"Greetings, Ventus," he responds, his tail swishing behind him as he perches on the bench.
"How'd you get here so quickly?" you ask him, speaking your thoughts. "You were at Mami's house only half an hour ago."
"Because Nagisa Momoe has potential."
"Potential?" you repeat. Then it hits you. However, Kyubey answers before you say anything.
"To become a magical girl."
"Who's this?" Nagisa asks, her eyes still watering.
"Nagisa, I'd like you to meet my friend Kyubey," you introduce. "He can grant you a single wish."
"Any wish?"
"Except for more wishes," you deadpan.
"And all you need to do in exchange for this wish is make a contract with me, and become a magical girl," he explains.
"So what happens when I become one?" Nagisa responds. Her expression seems a bit more hopeful.
"You will be able to protect people by hunting witches," Kyubey says.
"Like pointy hat and cackling on a broomstick with flying monkeys?" she wonders. Wait what do flying monkeys have to do with witches? Anyway, you guess you better fill her in.
"Witches are these ugly monsters who look, well... ugly. They hide in these weird places called labyrinths, and hurt people," you explain to her.
"And what happens when I beat a witch?"
"You get a Grief Seed from it," you answer. "The labyrinth will disappear, stopping the witch from hurting anyone else. Then, you can use the Grief Seed to clean your Soul Gem." She's about to say something, but you continue. "Kyubey says it gives you superhuman durability, making you really tough.
"If your Soul Gem gets too dirty, my friend Mami says you can't use magic anymore," you finish.
Nagisa looks worried. She begins thinking, and glances at Kyubey. "Am I able to think about what I wanna wish for first?" she requests.
"Of course," he tells her.
A labyrinth is not far from here.
