Warhammer: Tragedy on Ullanor [ Concluded ]

I would like to put my name in, in advance for the next position to open up.

With the update up, I can announce I am looking for a new Vulkan player.

Hmmmm...I would like to play, however I'm not entwined enough with the Primarchs to play them. Can I do, say, Garro or Loken? It would be interesting to see Loken as, say, a Ultramarine or something, grieving over the loss of his Primarch and the fracturing of his Legion. Maybe he and Torgaddon are the only Luna Wolves in a company or something, that type of dynamic. Not True Brothers and such.

Deadline for Turn 3 has been set to Friday 22nd May, 23:59 GMT
Still looking for a Vulkan player, make sure to hop into the Discord if you are interested and contact me.

Confirming here for the sake of leaving a record or whatever, I'm hereby dropping from the game as Roboute Guilliman.

There's only so long that sitting around watching my entire legion getting railroaded into being massacred while the GM actively cuts off my other options and tells other players it would be OoC metagaming for them to go and get involved can remain fun, and I guess we passed that point a while back.

I'd say I hope the rest of you have fun, but I kind of doubt it.

Please avoid leaving passive aggressive commentary in my game OOC, its shame to see you go, however.

Important
Hey, hey, people.

Update III 'Galaxy in Flames' is up.

This is the last 'normal' turn before there will be a two-year timeskip. I will be working pretty intense hours from tomorrow until next Sunday, and its unlikely I'll have time or the patience to properly write an update, so my plan is wait it out, and try write as much RP as I can on the outset. In addition, there will be a 'mini' OOC going up into the OOC thread basically detailing a summary of what the next start-point is, detail the new factions, and so on.

To extrapolate on what I said on Discord, in case people are interested, I will be putting out a new roster (with no changes to current players, hopefully) that will probably feature more slots to cover the sudden expansion of responsibilities and the drastic shift the Lion Heresy has brought to the table. No, the Emperor will not be playable... for now. Make sure to join the Discord if you want to get involved in this process.

Let the galaxy burn.

POST TIMESKIP

The galaxy is in flames. The Emperor's glorious vision for humanity is in ruins. His favoured son, the Lion, has turned from his father's light and embraced Chaos.

His armies, the mighty and redoubtable Space Marines, are locked in a brutal civil war. Once, these ultimate warriors fought side by side as brothers, protecting the galaxy and bringing mankind back into the Emperor's light. Now they are divided.

Some remain loyal to the Emperor, whilst others have sided with the Everchosen. Pre-eminent amongst them, the leaders of their thousands-strong Legions are the primarchs. Magnificent, superhuman beings, they are the crowning achievement of the Emperor's genetic science. Thrust into battle against one another, victory is uncertain for either side. Worlds are burning. In Ultramar, the Lion dealt a vicious blow and four loyal Legions were all but destroyed. War has begun, a conflict that will engulf mankind in fire. Treachery and betrayal have usurped honour and nobility. Assassins lurk in every shadow. Armies are gathering. All must choose a side or die.

Lion El'Jonson musters his armada, Terra itself the object of his wrath. Embattled in the Human Webway, the Emperor waits for his wayward son to return. But the true enemy is Chaos, a primordial force that seeks to enslave mankind to its capricious whims. The screams of the innocent, the pleas of the righteous resound to the cruel laughter of Dark Gods. Suffering and damnation await should the Emperor fail and the war be lost.

The age of knowledge and enlightenment has ended.
The Age of Darkness has begun.

The timeskip --- is over. It has been three years since the outbreak of civil war between the primarchs, and much has changed. The opening chaos of the slow death of the Imperium has settled and the lines have been drawn for battle. Mighty battlefleets muster for war, new leaders rise to the forefront, while others take a more immediate and demanding role as they struggle to uphold the Imperium in this dark time. The age of Primarch dominion ended as violently as it began.

The darkest days of the Imperium lay ahead, and it is with this announcement of the timeskip that I am comfortably expanding the roster and making some slight tweaks to the stats and mechanics behind the game - not that they have been faithfully covered since the timeskip began.

To commemorate the commencement of the second chapter of the game (nearing 100k words!) I have opened several new factions unique to this timeline, or at least, some, that have formed in this new and darker timeline. Claims will be a standard 1-2-3 list, and I'll be accepting people for the duration of the new turn for the next couple of days. New faces are always welcome.

DRAMATIS PERSONAE

THE LOYALISTS

The Imperial Household
Led by: Malcador the Sigillite

  • Status: As the de facto ruler of the Imperium in his role as regent, Malcador commands all other branches of the Imperium save for the Mechanicum-in-Exile, and the Legiones Astartes. His role is to balance and maintain harmony in these difficult times while also extending the reach of the powers of the civilian government in an attempt to hold peace where battles have been won and prevent the collapse of the Imperium into feuding warlord states. In addition, he fights a war of subterfuge and espionage against the likes of Alpharius, who seeks to cause massive amounts of destruction and chaos across Terra and the Imperium in the name of saving humanity, or so the story goes.
Player: None

Legio IV 'Iron Warriors'
Led by: Perturabo

  • Status: Having lost about a quarter of the Legion, with a similar amount under the direct command of the primarch, along with the majority of their fleet. The rest is scattered across the galaxy, fighting under the Midnight Black Contingency against all those deemed traitors. Some formations fight with the Shattered Legions. A significant force under Warsmith Barabas Dantioch battles alongside the White Scars around the Maelstrom.
Player: @Crilltic

Legio V 'White Scars'
Led by: Jaghatai Khan

  • Status: At less than half strength, with half of that under the direct command of the primarch, as is the majority of their fleet. The other force is under the command of Jubal Khan, fighting against traitor forces in the galactic core. The Khan leads his legions through uncharted space spinward away from the Imperium, attempting to escape the wrath of Leman Russ.
Player: @SteelWriter77

Legio VII 'Imperial Fists'
Led by: Rogal Dorn

  • Status: At nearly full strength, with only about a third under the direct command of the primarch. The rest, along with the fleet, is currently in the southern part of Segmentum Obscurus under the overall command of First Captain Sigismund. The Praetorian of Terra commands all imperial forces west of the Ruinstorm, leading the loyalist war effort from the throneworld itself.
Player: @Dovahsith

Legio VIII 'Night Lords'
Led by: Konrad Curze

  • Status: At barely one thousand strong, under the command of the primarch. The rest of the Legion have deserted to the side of the traitors and now fight under the banner of Chaos. What remains of Konrad's forces have joined Sigismund's Retribution Fleet following their emergence from the Cadian webway. Curze carries the fulgurite with him after being enlisted by the Cabal to retrieve it. A small force under former Chief Librarian Fel Zharost fights in the Ruinstorm among the Shattered Legions.
Player: @Mortis Nuntius

Legio IX 'Blood Angels'
Led by: Sanguinius

  • Status: At over half strength, with a majority of that under the command of the Archangel. Currently besieged at Arandra, fighting against traitor Night Lords forces, with half his legion trapped on the surface of the world while the rest battles in never-ending void warfare. The rest of the Legion is on Baal, preparing the defences of the planet.
Player: @Lucienz

Legio X 'Iron Hands'
Led by: Warmaster Ferrus Manus

  • Status: At just over half strength, with a majority of the legion under the command of the Warmaster. Currently trapped in the Ruinstorm, fighting in the Crusade of Shadow and Iron against the traitor forces. Scattered reinforcements fight battles across the Ruinstorm and Segmentum Ultima as the Shattered Legions.
Player: None

Legio XIV 'Death Guard'
Led by: Mortarion

  • Status: At barely a third in strength. The primarch has emerged from the depths of Terra with the genetic key crafted by the Emperor to rebuild his Legion. However, the rest of the Legion fights a gruelling war against the Dark Mechanicum in a desperate defense of their homeworld of Barbarus, with Nathaniel Garro and Siegemaster Vorx holding the homeworld of the Pale King.
Player: None

Legio XV 'Thousand Sons'
Led by: Ahzek Ahriman

  • Status: At three-quarters strength. The primarch is gone, having taken the role of the Emperor on the Golden Throne, and Ahriman knows this well enough. In large part the Thousand Sons have made their way to Prospero to fortify and hold their homeworld, though scattered brotherhoods such as that of Iskandar Khayon fight alongside the Shattered Legions, while others battle near the homeworld of Legio Xestobiax, Zhao Arkhadd.
Player: @Atomicwalrus

Legio XVIII 'Salamanders'
Led by: Artellus Numeon

  • Status: At less than a third strength. Vulkan is dead. The Legion is scattered by both Ruinstorm and the primarch's own desire to protect the wider Imperium from her enemies, resulting in the near-fall of Nocturne. Numeon and the largest concentration of forces lay trapped behind the Ruinstorm, fighting against traitor forces, while the rest do battle all across the Ultima Segmentum as part of the Shattered Legions.
Player: None

Legio XIX 'Raven Guard'
Led by: Corvus Corax

  • Status: At just under half-strength. Following the disaster of the Nemesis Drive, Corax had travelled to Terra to seek the Emperor's counsel. With knowledge imparted unto him and Mortarion, they discovered the genetic key to begin rapidly rebuilding their legion. Unbeknown to Corax, the tech-guilds of Kiavahr have risen up with the aid of the Dark Mechanicum and hold Deliverance hostage. The remaining Raven Guard are either trapped on the surface, or battle across the void of Segmentum Tempestus as the Shattered Legions.
Player: @Kirook

The Maelstrom Wardens
Led by: Jubal Khan, Barabas Dantioch

  • Status: Commanding a significant portion of all Iron Warriors and half of the White Scars, the Maelstrom Wardens (pending name) is a fragile marriage between the two legions which command a campaign far from their primarchs, isolated, against the overwhelming traitor forces in the galactic core. Jubal has the larger fleet, Dantioch the larger army. It is a fragile alliance as neither side truly trusts one another.
Players: None, up to two allowed

THE TRAITORS

Legio I 'Dark Angels'
Led by: Lion El'Jonson, Archtraitor

  • Status: The full Legion, under the direct command of the Lion. The Dark Angels travel from the ruins of Ultramar, emerging from the Ruinstorm on a warpath towards Terra. The Lion commands the largest fleet, the largest formation of traitor titans, and the largest formation of traitor army regiments, all empowered by the Chaos Gods. Truly, it is an unstoppable force.
Player: @Mannerheim

Legio XVII 'Word Bearers'
Led by: Lorgar Urizen

  • Status: At half strength. Most of it is in the Ruinstorm under the command of the primarch, fighting in the massive conflict known as the Crusade of Shadow and Iron. Following the death of Kor Phaeron, the more priestly conclave of the Word Bearers are embattled against the militant chapters under Dark Apostle Erebus, who follow the line of the Chaos Gods more with the desire to become one with them, as opposed to the former First Captain's body of worship. A crisis of faith has broken out across the Legion, and with Lorgar grieving, it appears Erebus is ready to make his play, and the screaming face of Guilliman mocks Lorgar's every step.
Player: @Hyvelic

Legio XX 'Alpha Legion'
Led by: Alpharius Omegon

  • Status: At around three-quarters. Following the Battle at the Phall system, Alpharius' fleet had disappeared from imperial data and currently remains at large, supposedly having managed to convince renegade Iron Warriors to join forces with him to fight the Imperial Fists. Most of the Legion fights with the primarch in whatever secret war of espionage and attrition they have called against the agents of Malcador and Dorn, but in addition, Alpharius plays another grand deception; Horus Omegon. Emergent from the abyss, Horus leads a force of Luna Wolves in a bloody war of retribution against the traitors, or so that is how the story goes, in truth, it is a mirror with no reflection, a lie with no truth.
Player: @Sidheach

The Prince's Host
Led by: Fulgrim

  • Status: Unknown. Forces divided across Segmentum Obscurus as Fulgrim seeks to crush the remaining loyalist pocket northwards of Terra. Fulgrim's own command is not as large as it was, but the Prince's Host is one of the largest mortal traitor forces save for the Lion's.
Player: @triumph8w

The Rout
Led by: Leman Russ

  • Status: At over half strength with the entire Legion following the will of the Wolf-King. Following their conversion and the destruction of Fenris, what was once the Sixth Legion has become imbued with the power of Nurgle, becoming not too dissimilar to savage wildmen in power armour, though sane enough to understand that their attacks spread the wonderful gifts of their Grandfather. It is with joy for death and a desire to spread the unclean that the Wolves take to war, the more morbid elements of what was once a Legion disappearing under the heaving mass of the god of death and decay. They hunt for Jaghatai Khan.
Player: @Thiccroy

The Firstborn
Led by: Maloghurst the Twisted

  • Status: At full strength. Most of it directly under the command of the Twisted, who commands a significant force of former Luna Wolves drawn from the ranks of the Iron Warriors, Ultramarines and Iron Hands. In addition, the surviving Ultramarines have joined the Firstborn under the Thirteen Bloody Hosts, one for each world of Ultramar that was sacked by the Lion. They aspire to bring back their primarch, drawn by the promise of the Serpent Lodge that both Roboute and Horus may be reborn in the terrible image of the Dark Gods. In truth, Maloghurst uses them as fodder for his war of vengeance against the loyalists, blaming the Emperor for the death of his beloved Lupercal. The Firstborn fight with Lorgar and what was once Angron in the Crusade of Shadow and Iron.
Player: None

The Sons of Horus
Led by: Horus Aximand

  • Status: At three-quarters strength. Scattered across Segmentum Obscurus, Pacificus and Ultima. Formerly the Luna Wolves drawn from the ranks of the Emperor's Children and Death Guard under the leadership of 'Little Horus' Aximand, who had gone insane in the wake of the death of Tybalt Marr and Verulam Moy, along with the murder of Saul Tarvitz, one of his closer friends prior to the rebellion. Believing that he holds part of Horus' soul, Aximand has taken to the honorary moniker of those who inherit their dead father's likeness to be the name of his new warband, the Sons of Horus. Bearing the eye on a field of sea green, supposedly taken after the colours of Davin, Aximand's warband is more of a collective of smaller warbands led by marauding pirate lords sprung from the old ganger culture of Cthonia. These renegade fleets serve as one of the main threats to imperial stability and safety, launching constant raids into Segmentum Solar and loyalist space, often throwing back months of gruelling siege warfare with their presence.
Player: None

World Eaters
Led by: The Red Angel

  • Status: Unknown. Largest concentration of forces under the 'command' of a reborn Angron. Fighting in the Crusade of Shadow and Iron adjacent to the Word Bearers. Completely devoted to the Blood God, the entire Legion reduced to frothing berserkers, warriors without sense, rhyme or reason, the terrible echo of the Butcher's Nails.
Player: None

The Plaguefleet
Led by: Calas Typhon

  • Status: At half strength, the traitor Death Guard captain commands a sizeable force of captured loyalist ships under the banner of the Terminus Est, acting as the heralds of the Grandfather in the wake of Russ' dark turn. Typhon had chosen to split his forces from that of Russ in order to both expand the reach of the Plague God, and prevent his own untimely demise before Nurgle's plan may blossom into fruition. Rallying his forces, he travels towards the densely-populated worlds of the Galactic Core to spread the glorious death and disease promised by the Gods across the Imperium.
Player: @Draorn

Night Lords
Led by: Gendor Skraivok

  • Status: Unknown. The traitor Night Lords have abandoned the concept of a whole Legion, but they still carry the colours and bloody legacy of the Night Haunter, and of Nostramo. While primarily collected around the area of space of Arandra, where the united warbands under the Painted Count fight against Sanguinius, many more Night Lords take to attacking random and underprotected imperial worlds, savaging them without hesitation and bringing terror to victims all across the blood-soaked stars, all in the name of their perverse and violent gods.
