First Claim: Legion IX - Blood Angels
Sanguinius in this universe is in a bit of an odd situation. I think I plan to play him as a Primarch who above all else now feels deeply and incredibly alone in the universe. Horus was the one primarch who he ever admitted the existence of the Red Thirst to and he's no longer alive. There's no other being in the galaxy that he feels safe showing anything other than a perfect image of strength and wisdom. This also explains why he refused the title of Warmaster. Although many might think it was due to humility, the deep truth is that Sanguinius feared he was not in fact worthy of the title and that by taking the title and then failing, it would bring scrutiny upon his sons. And deep down he knows while he wouldn't sacrifice anyone to save his sons, he would sacrifice himself in a heartbeat to cure them of the curse he fears himself responsible for.
"Raldoron. You are now my first captain. Before you depart, humor your father and listen to my words." Sanguinius glances at the Blood Angels below the fortress they stood in, a mixture of love and pity flashes across his face.
"You are on a path of incredible power... a path that I began long, long ago. There will be strength, victory, triumph... everything a commander of soldiers should expect."
"But there was also pain... Had I another century to describe it. I could not explain to you the punishing agony of my love. Our legion is our family and my Blood Angels, my sons. Every gutting, every torn limb, every death... The harm inflicted on our brothers... At times I felt it inflicted upon myself as well. You must be prepared for that."
"Power is no matter of personal glory. It touches all who follow you. When you rise to your rank, you will not be alone. There will be others who look to you. You will be responsible for them in...in more ways than you can know. Take care of them all. Depend on each other, but harden yourself to accept the burden of your rank. Devotion will cut deeper than any bolter."
