Visions of Bronze, Visions of Brass: Setting and Mechanics

So I just got a job that requires that I work Saturdays--since everyone seemed generally fine with switching to Sundays that one time, would it be alright if we just did that permanently?

Sundays should normally be alright, but I'm not completely sure about this upcoming Sunday since it's Father's Day.

I'm fine this Saturday so we can keep the normal time this weekend to avoid Father's Day.

Right, so, as it turns out, never mind the switch to Sundays later on. My boss just pulled a last minute schedule change on me so I should be fine most Saturdays now.

I will likely be late for a 4pm EST Saturday start. On the other hand, most of my turns are going to be 'dodge, deal ping, take yet more 'dox' so I don't think my absence will be sorely missed unless the pace goes from the leisurely walk we've been doing to a full on sprint, so :V.

Yeah, uh... I'm going to start thinking about mechanical incentives to actually use your Shockwave codes instead of sitting on them. Maybe I'll have unused codes subtract from the next set or something, because you didn't use your budget. :V

(Or we could just not do Shockwaves, if people don't find them fun. What I can't do is plan/balance around Shockwaves being an option and then have people try to challenge run the level and get stuck for three sessions >.>)

It's the same problem in video games. You could use your health potion, or you could save it until things get really bad, and then you're at the final boss with 300 unused single-use items.

Yeah, but... we don't know what the Shockwave codes are. That kind of makes it hard to figure out when to use them?

Literally, all I know about the codes is 'It means the Director steps in and does something'. But we don't know anything about the Director's capabilities. Looking at the wikis I would guess she has... Data 5, Dimensional Science 4 and some level of Mind?

I'm not deliberately sitting on them, I just have no idea what they actually do. Have I missed something along the way?

Mm. In retrospect that's probably a miscalculation. You haven't missed something, but in retrospect "Use a set of senior Spheres, once" is not very clear design space.

I'll write up some Rotes-to-go for the next session, then, though the option of doing something creative is still on the table if you want to tailor them. In general this won't be a problem - proper Shockwaves tend to be particular options you prepare in advance (or "prepare in advance" with Time 2), and look more like Devices than freeform magic.

Does 4PM this Sunday still work for everyone? At this point it seems like it would be more convenient for this week.

*pinches nose* Not really, no. 4pm is already pushing it with the time zones and my sleep schedule.

Mm. We could just put it off until Monday.

Ah, scheduling complications. What would I do without them.

Can we pull off Tuesday? If not, I think we'll just have to call it quits for this week and play next Saturday; it's unfortunate but the next session is probably going to involve everyone, so we'll need everyone.
