I will be level with you all, I am feeling extremely burnt out on this story. However, there are only a few arcs left before we hit endgame, so the next arc will be a sort of timeskip where the updates consist of short scenes and summaries.
[X] Gives Aizawa the finger when the teacher has his back turned. ++Velvet.
+++++Steel.
Momo can't help but sigh as Johan makes a rude gesture at Aizawa's back. Surely he could at least have waited longer than right after their teacher had gone past them, right? Some of their classmates catch on, with some looking nervous, with Iida looking annoyed, and with most appearing not to care.
Johan, along with everyone else, freezes when Aizawa turns around upon reaching the door. A questioning eyebrow rises on Aizawa's face, but Johan remains firm. The moment passes and Aizawa turns around again.
"How long are you going to let a bad first impression impact your time here, Johansen?"
Aizawa speaks the words over his shoulder, but Momo doubts that anyone has trouble hearing him. Johan doesn't answer, not with words at least. He lets out a quiet, proud huff before he uncomfortably lowers his arm. Aizawa responds with a small snort and unlocks the door to their new dorm.
Johan stuffs his hands into his pockets as Aizawa leads them inside and lays out the rules of the Heights Alliance dorm buildings. It is nothing groundbreaking, most of it concerns the cleaning schedule and the curfew, and after passing around the room keys he leaves them to get settled.
It is already late, so most of their classmates file off to their rooms to unpack their bags and go to sleep.
Momo and Johan stay up a little longer in the common room on the ground floor before they retire.
*
The weekend is spent decorating their rooms. Johan's room is more or less a copy of his old one, as much as it can be without stealing the Shibusawas' furniture. The metal closet has been shoved into a corner, still covered in chains and locks.

Classes resume on Monday, and this week UA plans to make up for the time lost because of the attack on the training camp. They, and presumably the students of 1-B, will be training in preparation for the Provisional Hero License Exams on Friday. And today that means working on developing 'Super Moves'.
Momo ponders the concept as the others go wild along the training ground, a broken, uneven field of concrete shaped by Cementoss and populated by Ectoplasm's clones. There are some ideas she has been wanting to try out…
***
The Provisional Hero License Exam consists of two parts. One is a massive free for all where several hundred Hero Course students from schools all over Japan compete with each other by tagging each other with sticky balls, and the second is a simulated rescue operation where actors pose as at-risk civilians in the aftermath of a Villain attack.
The first part sees everyone in Class 1-A pass without problems. With their Stands any one of them can go toe to toe with any other Student, even when students from the other Hero Schools gang up on the UA students.
The second part is dicier, as they are judged by demeanor and situational awareness instead of pure combat ability. Things get more complicated when Gang Orca, Japan's Number Twelve Hero, shows up with a posse of henchmen to simulate the Villain returning to the scene.
But nineteen Stands is just too much. At the end, everyone in Class 1-A walks away with shiny new Provisional Hero Licenses.
Granted, it was touch and go for some. Bakugou lost a lot of points for picking fights with the civillians, Todoroki almost let a student from another school provoke him while stalling Gang Orca, and Johan had to be reprimanded for being too brutal with Gang Orca's henchmen.
According to Recovery Girl, they should regain the use of their arms and legs with plenty of rest, but when they return to the dorm Momo intends to teach him that there are others with dim views on this.
*
Midoriya and Bakugou have a fight that evening. Explosions and pressure blasts in the distance wakes the whole dorm, with a furious Aizawa rushing out the door after a minute spent determining where the sounds of battle are coming from.
He comes back with the two boys a little while later, but neither of them seem to be listening when he chews them out. Bakugou especially, whose his red-rimmed eyes show that he has been crying.
And yet there is something about his stance, as if he has slipped heavy chains he didn't know he was wearing.
***
During Monday practice, Bakugou's「Africa」reveals a new ability:
On Bakugou's order it flips it abdomen under itself, making it look like a bombardier beetle about to fire. Panels across its body flip open to reveal nozzles, and after a second they spray water into the air.
When it comes raining down Momo feels her stamina restore itself, soreness fading from the areas of her body where the water touches her. She steps into the rain and feels her scratches and bruises wash away.
Johan did say, all those months ago, that their Stands might develop new abilities through practice and spiritual growth. Whatever happened during that fight must have done Bakugou some good.

The next Monday sees Aizawa introducing three third year students to Class 1-A, a trio that he refers to as the 'Big Three'. The three students of UA's Hero Course that have been deemed the most likely to make it big as Pro Heroes.
The dark haired boy shuffles into the background after introducing himself as Tamaki Amajiki, while the girl quickly reveals that she has little to no brain-to-mouth filter as she flies about the classroom, commenting on everyone's appearance and asking strange questions, continuing on before anyone has a chance to answer. Somewhere in the deluge of babble she manages to share her name: Nejire Hado.
The tall blonde takes center stage once Hado has gotten her questions out of her system, and introduces himself as Mirio Togata, here to explain the many benefits of the Hero Work-Studies Program. To hear him explain it, it is similar to the week-long internships that they had after the Sports Festival, but on a more serious level. The intent of the program is to provide UA students with real work experience, and as such they will be temporarily employed as sidekicks at an agency instead of being guests and observers like they were before.
While the program is open to all years of the Hero Course, first years like Momo and her classmates will have a much harder time because of all the mandatory classes they will miss, requiring them to take extensive supplementary and remedial classes during the time they spend back at UA. Students in the years above them don't have this problem, as the higher years of the Hero Course have more free periods to account for students attending the Hero Work-Study Program.
Togata-sempai freely admits to the downsides, but he eagerly promotes the benefits of the program, praising the experience he has earned to high heaven. The response he receives is mixed, and rather subdued. A few people nod along, while most just seem uninterested in the extra hassle.
To his credit, Togata-sempai quickly picks up on the skepticism. His brow furrows in thought, and after a minute he smiles brightly.
"Perhaps it would be better if I showed you myself. Dress up in your gym clothes and come to the training ground you were using last week. I'll meet you there."
*
Ten minutes later they are arrive at the training ground to find Togata-sempai waiting for them with the other two, presumably having been led there by Aizawa.
She looks around the room for her boyfriend, finding him-
[] Standing beside her.

Momo smiles when she catches Johan looking at her. After a moment of looking flustered he smiles back.
The smiles vanish when Togata invites all twenty of them to attack him.
"A rookie crushing?"
Momo's answer is drowned out by the sound of Bakugou's attack.
**********
Mirio nods appreciatively as Bakugou responds to his challenge without hesitation. The first-year student unleashes his Quirk from his leading right hand, unleashing an explosion that swallows Mirio's upper body and reduces his shirt to charcloth.
He allows Bakugou a moment of bewilderment when the smoke dies down to reveal that he is completely unharmed before he sinks into the floor.
Permeation is a Quirk that makes Mirio's body intangible, down to every cell, yet still subject to gravity. Light passes through his eyes, air passes through his lungs, and sound waves pass through his eardrums. When he gives himself so completely to his quirk, he is blind, deaf, and suffocating.
If not for the curious way it interacts with physical matter once he activates it, he would never have dared to use it. When he releases his Quirk, he is launched out of whatever physical object whose space he occupies instead of being trapped within it or somehow fusing with it. With practice, skill and coordination, he can even aim it.
Such as he does now, shooting straight up into Bakugou's-
*TWACK*
Armored gut?
Mirio twists and disengages from the metal object that is standing where he left Bakugou, coming face to face with a massive beetle robot. Bakugou is riding the machine, which buzzes angrily at the one threatening its rider.
Is this his Stand? Stands do not show up on electronics, so the videos of him during the Sports Festival are useless. But if it is his Stand, then it will be a good place to test a theory at the same time as he makes his point to his underclassmen.
He is about to go back in when the beetle takes the initiative and charges towards him. It skids to a stop when he sidesteps the wild rush and lashes out with a metal leg.
Mirio activates his Quirk, losing feeling in his whole body except the soles of his feet as he braces himself.
Pain explodes across his forearms as the Stand, impossibly, touches his impermeable body and sends him flying. He becomes solid long enough to reorient himself before he sinks back into the ground, at an angle this time, to clear some space between himself and his underclassmen.
It touched him, just like Sir's can. Does that mean that all Stands can touch him even when his Quirk is active?
He is laughing when he comes up and finds his footing, louder when he sees that the amount of opponents he is facing seems to have doubled as the students of Class 1-A have called out their Stands.
**********
It was a hard fought battle, but in the end they manage to pin Togata down long enough to beat him into submission. The upperclassman managed to hit half of them during his rampage before he was stopped, and once everyone has recovered he limps over to his friends, who fuss over him and his mangled foot.
Togata begins his lecture by explaining that proper internships like his own remove the controlled conditions of UA , and so teaches them better to adapt to unfamiliar situations and opponents. He moves on to explain how his internship has helped him, though the praise he heaps on his mentor is undercut somewhat by the constant winces he makes whenever his weight shifts onto the mark that Johan left on him.
Her boyfriend followed Togata through the「Midnight Sea」and had「Holy Diver」crush his foot. Togata adapted as best he could, but the injury was too much of a handicap for him to continue the fight for long.
"-and that is all I wanted to say about the Hero Work-Studies Program! I hope that made sense!" Finishes Togata with a grin. Even though he lost, there is an awoken sense of interest among class 1-A.
Momo helps put Togata's foot together. Thanks to「Technologic's」power all that is needed is a blow with a hammer and some scalpel work.
Johan gets called to the principal's office after everyone has had a shower and a change of clothes.
*
Johan is flushed when he comes back to the classroom, breathing heavily. Did he run all the way back here?
He jogs over to her desk, slipping around Kyoka-chan and interrupting Momo's conversation with her as he slams his hands on her desk.
"They found「Cactus」!"
***
It is almost anticlimactic how something as simple as a careless cash transfer exposed「Cactus'」movements. Stroheim Medical was already under scrutiny, and their business in Japan thoroughly tracked.
Momo muses on what Johan told her as she gets ready for class the next day. Edgeshot, Hawks, Mirko, and less well-known Heroes from the area they think「Cactus」is hiding out in are preparing to move on his hideout in a few days, and Johan has been asked to help out.
That he would insist on her being offered a spot on the team is expected, but no less welcome for it. His insistence on Mineta's inclusion is also expected, but also less welcome. What is surprising is that Johan wants to invite at least two others from their class.
The only question is who else they should take with them. Midoriya, Todoroki, Tsuyu, Uraraka and Kirishima already have internships lined up, so they are out. Tokoyami and especially Kouda won't work with Johan, so they are in the same boat.
In the end Johan decides on two people, alongside Mineta, to invite:
[] Yuga Aoyama.
[] Mina Ashido.
[] Tenya Iida.
[] Mashirao Ojiro.
[] Denki Kaminari & Kyoka Jirou.
[] Mezo Shouji.
[] Hanta Sero.
[] Tooru Hagakure.
[] Katsuki Bakugou.
For clarification's sake, the vote is by plan, not by option.

Five UA students and about twice that number in Pro Heroes form up outside the decommissioned pier-slash-unofficial boat graveyard. Unofficial only because the ships are still floating, left behind to rust upon the water until someone decides to buy them for scrap.
Which is probably never, muses Momo as the Heroes move in on what their intelligence has determined to be「Cactus'」hideout. The ships must be far more useful as they are now, acting as oversized coins. Actually doing something about them couldn't possibly be worth the cost.
She shakes her head to bring herself to the present. They have reached the door, and it is time to blow them open. At least five enemy Stand Users, as well as whatever backup they have gotten from the Stroheim family and local villains. In either case, they almost assuredly know they are coming.
*
Trouble starts the moment they enter. The Villains counterattack, and the Heroes are scattered all over the pier.
**********
Mina ducks behind a pallet of abandoned sacks of concrete, dragging the Pro she got trapped with as everything went to hell into cover with her. The warehouse is raked by heavy machinegun fire a moment later, sending fragments of shorn sheet metal raining down on them.
She wastes no time in checking the Pro's injuries as bullets fly overhead, fighting the tightness in her chest as the man's gunshot wounds being back bad memories. A few handfuls of sticky acid, as neutral as she can make them, will keep him from bleeding out at least, but she needs to find Bakugou, and fast.
But that's not possible while the Villain from the forest has her pinned down here.
Her「Ocean Blue」snaps out of cover the moment the Villain's suppressing fire moves away from her position and shoots a lance of high-pressure acid in the direction the bullets come from. A twist of the hand makes the stream move from side to side, shearing through everything the Villain might hide behind.
A renewed hail of bullets, this time accompanied by fragmentation grenades fired by a gun the Villain made from one of the Pro Heroes, shows that he is still kicking. Not that Mina lets it discourage her.
She still needs to pay him back for shooting her.

"Come the fuck out, shitheads!"
Katsuki's scream is audible even over the sounds of the chittering, dog-sized spiders that「Africa」tramples underfoot. He and the two no-name Pros that ride along with him on「Africa's」back brace themselves as the armored beetle Stand smashes through another wall.
They learned not to use the doors after one of the doorways in this shitty, run-down barracks suddenly sprouted teeth and clamped down on「Africa's」head. It failed to do his big amazing beetle any real harm, but it held them still long enough for them to get swarmed.
His skin crawls as he recalls the desperate struggle to free his Stand, but anger drowns it out as his thought drift to Edgeshot taking off to 'check the roof'.
Still, if what his classmates told him is true, then there are two enemy Stand users in here: The snake and the mouths.
He spots an unfamiliar figure race through a door, and smiles from ear to ear when he realizes that it didn't attack.
"There you are!"

"Your Stand makes balls spin?"
Minoru swallows before throwing another Spin-infused sticky ball in the lizardwoman's direction. It bounces around a bouncing Mirko, who is staying just a hair ahead of the Villain's bearlike Stand.
The Villain might not realize that the Spin isn't a Stand, but that doesn't mean that she isn't holding her own. Back at the training camp she took on almost the entire first year Hero Course and walked away.
Mirko is doing the best she can, and Minoru will have to do the same.
**********
Momo, panting in pain and exhaustion, can't help but smile grimly as the contents of the old can splash into the wolfman's eyes. The Villain curses in German and makes his Stand rear back, but Momo is already moving when the technology-destroying Stand lobs knives in her direction.
The steam filling the room from a damaged pipe hides enough of her movements that she reaches the next pair of cans unscathed. Their contents are spilled around the Villain, a process sped up by Momo creating some projectiles of her own for「Technologic」to throw.
It is a song and dance that repeats itself once more before the stage is set. The Villain starts to catch on when he slows down long enough to smell the gasoline she has been drenching him in.
His eyes widen when he sees her standing at the edge of the puddle he is in, two pieces of metal held in「Technologic's」hands.
"N-nein! Bitte!"
And then all is fire.

"So you really were a potted cactus. Go figure." Whispers Johan in Norwegian. Mostly to himself, as he surveys the damage he has done to the misplaced desert flora and how it is reflected on his opponent.
「Cactus」, pulped, shredded, yet alive, tries to stand. "My name…was Donovan-"
"NO!"
A black armored fist silences the enemy as it punches「Cactus」right between the eyes.
"Trying to go out with a speech?" The words are hissed as if spoken by an angry cat, an angry cat with cracked ribs and a broken leg. "Who the fuck do you think you are?"
There is no answer, not at first. But then「Cactus」begins to laugh.
"Heh. Heheheheh… You had the means, but not the will. I had the will, but not the means." Giggles the battered Stand as it looks up at the much younger man. "We…we really are kindred spirits…you and I."
Johan yowls at the implication. "Kindred spirits? Don't make me laugh."
