UNIVEEEEERSE!!! (-al Gundam idea and discussion thread)

Lately, because of watching Sonic 3, and finally getting into the franchise thanks to the Sonic Adventure Xbox Live Arcade port, I actually started thinking up ideas for a Sonic/Gundam fusion fic.

Here's some ideas on what I have in mind, especially taking advantage of EXA and EXA VS' isolated settings:

  • What if Gerald Robotnik was visited by Silver from a bad future, giving him a special database that will prove useful in the decades to come?
  • What if G.U.N. was formed as the first step to unify the world?
  • What if G.U.N. used the technology they reverse-engineered to found the various stations used as part of Project: G.U.N.D.A.M: Guardian Units of Nations Defensive Arms Mandate? Like Jupiter X, Mars I, Saturn II, which would lead to Mobile Suit technology being developed centuries earlier than if Silver hadn't traveled back in time?
  • What if Gerald lost his mind not just because of his failure to cure Maria with Shadow, but also because of the existential horror of knowing about the alternate timelines that Silver had been visiting?
  • What if the G.U.N. Hunters are actually miniaturised drones based on Mobile Suit technology, and had a Mobile Doll equivalent, ala Wing, X, and most recently, Witch From Mercury's Gundvolvas and Gundnodes?
  • What if Force Avalon from Build Divers were involved in preventing Eggman from using Chaos to conquer the world, and the incident with Shadow thanks to being members of Project G.U.N.D.A.M's Earth division?
  • What if, when Robotnik uses the Phantom Ruby to conquer the Earth (and the United Federation with it), G.U.N. use the orbital elevator connected to Earth 0 to evacuate their top personnel to the moon, in order to start organising a counterattack? And part of that counterattack would involve Leos Alloy, who spent some time on Jupiter X?
It's nowhere near properly planned, but it's some fun ideas I've been having.

I'm not overly familiar with Sonic past the Genesis games and the movies, but what I know of some of the 2000s games definitely fits in with the vibe of Gundam: space colonies, morally ambiguous world militaries that are still less bad in the moment than the real wackos, space lasers, tragic backstories, cloning popular characters...the alien invasion is a bit more other sci fi than Gundam but it still fits.

Well that certainly makes more sense than CE's acronyms for Gundam...........and honestly most of them in general

Well yeah, haven't seen Sonic wreck MS by spindashing into them yet as that seems like something he'd do

That's kinda why I did it, especially since "Guardian Units of Nations" is a bit of an awkward acronym anyway. Keeping to the spirit and all that.

To be fair, I'm only familiar with the movies and Prime, and I've only just beaten one of the stories in Adventure, but it's fun finding out about these things as I play them. The IDW comics also explored one character's traumatic backstory too, which is always fun to see.
