[X] Martial Prowess
[X] Courtier
Mostly for discussion's sake really, I wanna put up the reasoning behind my choices.
Martial Prowess because by and large shit happens during wartime. When we start fighting, when get into trouble, or when the inexplicable moment of shit hitting the fan, I'd rather we at least be capable of defending ourselves first and foremost. To struggle is to fight, and to fight is to survive, and to survive is to find a chance to win. For what else is there for a Noble to do but win?
Another ancient chinese proverb, or something I hope is of the same vein, is that a Snake without its head is as good as dead. I.e. No matter how ferocious our army is, if the general (us, I'm guessing) is dead then it is no army at all.
Hence why I'm adamant that at least this early in the game, wherein we don't actually have an army at our back or time-relevant resources, we keep strengthening ourselves first. For when we actually do get the chance to form an army, or levy troops, or hire whatever, well, we can always buy talent to shore up intelligence and 'size' as it were.
That, and I just really wanna see us go do epic 1 vs 1s with opposing motherfuckers.
As for Courtier, the idea is meant for connections and diplomacy. It might bring to the fore the idea that we are harmless; nothing more than a noble who knows nothing but to pamper himself. To be underestimated like the rest of the fat sods who nary do anything worth the coin given.
And that gives us the element of surprise; something I'm keen on having as opposed to our enemies to be in possession of it.
Furthermore, by the same vein of being a pretty boy, the first thought that the crowd, the masses within city walls, is that we are easily trustworthy. Or at least, this may raise the inherent possibility of being easily trustworthy. After all, the battlefield is naught the only place where wars are waged. This would, at the very least, equip us on both ends of the spectrum should we ever decide to try a hand in politics.
'Sides, we're already pretty fucking rich by status of being a Noble and I doubt being 'academically inclined' during a time where Steel and Silk are concerned would do us much good.
