Uniting All Under Heaven (Kingdom AU CK2 Quest)

[X] Martial Prowess

[X] Courtier

Mostly for discussion's sake really, I wanna put up the reasoning behind my choices.

Martial Prowess because by and large shit happens during wartime. When we start fighting, when get into trouble, or when the inexplicable moment of shit hitting the fan, I'd rather we at least be capable of defending ourselves first and foremost. To struggle is to fight, and to fight is to survive, and to survive is to find a chance to win. For what else is there for a Noble to do but win?

Another ancient chinese proverb, or something I hope is of the same vein, is that a Snake without its head is as good as dead. I.e. No matter how ferocious our army is, if the general (us, I'm guessing) is dead then it is no army at all.

Hence why I'm adamant that at least this early in the game, wherein we don't actually have an army at our back or time-relevant resources, we keep strengthening ourselves first. For when we actually do get the chance to form an army, or levy troops, or hire whatever, well, we can always buy talent to shore up intelligence and 'size' as it were.

That, and I just really wanna see us go do epic 1 vs 1s with opposing motherfuckers.

As for Courtier, the idea is meant for connections and diplomacy. It might bring to the fore the idea that we are harmless; nothing more than a noble who knows nothing but to pamper himself. To be underestimated like the rest of the fat sods who nary do anything worth the coin given.

And that gives us the element of surprise; something I'm keen on having as opposed to our enemies to be in possession of it.

Furthermore, by the same vein of being a pretty boy, the first thought that the crowd, the masses within city walls, is that we are easily trustworthy. Or at least, this may raise the inherent possibility of being easily trustworthy. After all, the battlefield is naught the only place where wars are waged. This would, at the very least, equip us on both ends of the spectrum should we ever decide to try a hand in politics.

'Sides, we're already pretty fucking rich by status of being a Noble and I doubt being 'academically inclined' during a time where Steel and Silk are concerned would do us much good.

Tactical Insight < Martial Prowess

Martial Prowess is well-suited to more than just war because of the genius trait.

[x] Martial Prowess: In spite of his upbringing as a traditional staid noble, your father discovered later in life that he was prodigious when it came to warfare. So, no matter if he did not spend as much time studying tactics as other commanders, or trained as much in a particular weapon, he still was able to dominate the battlefield through his sheer genius alone. However, while that genius of his may help him against ordinary opponents, when it comes to opponents more experienced than him, he struggles. (Inherit trait, "Genius": +2 to all stats, +10 to all learning/training rolls. Inherit trait, "Martial Prodigy": +2 martial, +10 to personal combat rolls, +10 to martial training rolls)

the best victory occurs when the battle is won before we've even began. Plus, I tire of always picking the 'Genius' Trait

[X] Martial Prowess

That Genius trait and bonus to learning.

[X] Courtier

That bonus to diplomancing.

[X] Martial Prowess
[X] Merchant

Martial Prowess is too good. You can't say no to that. and Merchant because, if this is like other SV quests, we're going to be doing a lot of building, plus all that dosh.

Power and Brains meet politics. This is the ultimate Noble.

1. Is the era of King Sho before the series and the coup ny the brother of the King on the series?

Names get lost on me.

2. If so, I cant wait to see who will kill Ouki and who will replace the antagonist whose name I forget.

EDIT:

Can you answer my questions?

Yes, this is the era of that King Sho. This takes place well before the start of the series and the coup by Seikyou. This is what would be considered a golden age of warfare by those Generals like Ouki and Renpa.

I'm not sure who the antagonist you are talking about is, but my guess is Houken. All I can say about him is that he will have a part to play. However, the person most credited with killing Ouki in canon, Riboku, is none other than the player character right now, so I doubt you will kill him here.

But, anything can happen in this period, so while I won't guarantee Ouki will survive until canon, I will say it will take a hell of an opponent to kill him.
