Tosa Quest (Kantai Collection)

Not even a mention by name? *grumbles emptily about history books not including relevant details*

Self-sealing fuel tanks are one of those kind of technical details that would be left out of a "Cliff-Notes of WW2" book. What Tosa probably knows is this: Germany kicked off the war in 1939 and managed to overrun most of Europe before getting bogged down in the Soviet Union and North Africa in 41-42. Japan jumped in on the Germans side in late-41 by attackong the British and US. This brought the US on the Allied side. In the latter part of 1942, a series of victories turned the tide decisively in the Allies favor and from 43-45 the Germans and Japanese were steadily ground down and crushed. Germany went down fighting to a ground invasion while Japan surrendered after the Americans used a secret weapon called the Atomic Bomb twice.

Basically the bare-bones summary, not any of the details.

Also, are there any horas? I'd check, but I'm on my iPhone and iPhones suck for picking out horas.

Sometimes I forget I have the knowledge/library of a college professor. Still, my pride as a historian* makes me very slightly disappointed that Tosa got given a grade-school version of the war, rather than a proper history. Oh well, that'll be next.:)
*So what if I haven't graduated from college? :p

You even spot a 41-cm gun under maintenance, among the equipment under repair.
It looks so similar to what you would have gotten, had you been a Battleship...
1. Indeed, the 41cm/45 3rd Year Type rifle was supposed to be used by the Tosa and Kii-class dreadnoughts, and the Amagi battlecruisers. But, they were only equipped on two ships...
2. Hello Nagato/Mutsu.
3. More trivia! A bunch of obsolete AP shells from this gun were modified in 1939-40 into armor-piercing bombs, which were used to lethal effect at Pearl Harbor. Additionally, three guns were set up as coastal-defense turrets to protect the Strait of Tsushima.

I'm entirely largely in the same boat. But there will be time for the college-level analysis later.

Not my favorite, per say, but their certainly up there.

VOTES ARE CLOSED

Well, that was a mess of a vote. Next time, I really should specify the vote a bit more. Still, this works. Tosa will ask Yuubari for mods to the Recon Biplane, then go around looking for Kaga.

NOOOOO I COPIED THE WRONG VOTE!
Oh well, what i wanted won anyway.

News Article 2
News Archives, from March 14, 2020 (News Article 2)
WASHINGTON – The debate in Congress with regards to the nature of the returning ships as personifications, and how they are to be treated has seen a decisive end, following the actions of the Ship-Girl Enterprise (CV-6).

The formerly united opposition to the Ship-Girl Rights Act 2020 (SGRA) has crumbled, following Enterprise's speech on live television, on Youtube here. Her actions have incited outrage against the opponents of the Act, and it is now set to be signed by the President.

America will follow the approach taken by both Britain and Japan with the passing of the Act. This means that any American Ship-Girl who has returned will be treated as a citizen of the United States of America, with full human rights.

Enterprise has declined all requests for an interview in regards to this landmark victory for the Ship-Girls of America.

The spokesperson of the opposition to the Act have this to say. "The passing of this-this SRGA is a disaster. You don't give a f**king ship Rights! They are war machines, do you see a tank getting rights!? I say-" [To be continued on Page 2]

In other news, with the controversial return of the Kaga and the Akagi, along with the Yorktown, Enterprise, and Hornet has reignited a degree of tensions among the more radical nationalists of both countries. However, both parties have not yet commented on their historical grudge. More on the history between them on This Page.

These women claim to be the personification of the proudest ships in our country! Yet some of them dress like Hookers and Harlots! They are lying! They are not shipgirls! They are devils who want to take our Souls! They are Abyssal infiltrators, who are gaining our trust, then Blam they betray us before killing us all! No, they cannot be trusted, after all, they return to fight at just the right time. They- [Paywall]

Author's Note: I dropped the ball, and the update is being typed right now. REALLY sorry about the delay, so as an apology, have an extra while I work on the update itself. This is an example of Lore Tosa will read if she goes to the Library. Who knows? You might get some interesting and relevant news/foreshadowing with some other articles.

Someone lost their cool at a really bad time. Guess who's not winning an election next cycle?~

It's a guilty pleasure to see the paranoid bunch get their comeuppins.

If putting on a skirt is anything like putting on a kilt I know for a fact trousers are much faster.

Chapter 2: Retraining (Part 8)
[ ] Ask if Yuubari could work on tuning or modifying…

An idea came to the forefront of your mind. If not for the fact that you managed to find the enemy, your strike would have been forced to wander and waste their fuel. If so, then it would not be prudent to increase their capabilities?

"Ne, Yuubari. Could you help make modifications to my reconnaissance biplanes?"

"Really? So early?" You see her excitement. She really loves to tinker with things, doesn't she? "Sure, what do you want me to modify on them?"

"I wish to make it so that it may fly for further distances and possess longer range, I also desire for it to have better survivability." After all, both are most likely the most important assets to a Reconnaissance Plane.

"Oh-ho, better range and survivability huh? I do have the designs for self-sealing fuel tanks sent over, and I have been itching to try it out… alright then! It's not going to be easy, but I can do it. Challenge accepted."

You bow. "Thank you for your aid, Yuubari."

"Eh, it's nothing. This is going to be a challenge of my skill, and I do like a good challenge. Can you hand me one of the planes with its pilot?"
You smoothly hand Yuubari one of the Type-92s, with the pilot fairy still in it. She promptly starts to examine it. "Oooooh yes. I can work with this, hehehehe…"

Seeing her start to go to work, you leave her to it. It would not do to bother her when she is working, after all. You muse a bit on what you should do, before settling on something. Kaga and Zuikaku's meeting should be done by now, so you should look for her. With that thought, you enter HQ, looking around for Kaga.
Roll 1d100 to stay awake. Status: Tired, beat 40 to stay awake.
Unfortunately, you fail to find her, which is slightly vexing. Seeing a bench nearby, you decide to sit down and rest there briefly, before looking for her again.
Rolled 34. Roll failed.
Right as you sit down, a wave of exhaustion strikes, and you find your eyes involuntarily closing. You are whisked to the land of sleep against your will.
Roll encounter, 1d17.
A gentle nudge has your eyes fly open. You feel much better rested now. Had you fallen asleep on a bench? How embarrassing.
Rolled 1.
With that thought pushed aside, you look at the person who woke you up.

Tall, Big, Large and... Pretty? These are the words describe the Battleship in front of you. If your ship-sense was not mistaken, she has more-or-less double the tonnage of Nagato, and by extension, you. Still, it wasn't that or her human appearance that completely captured your attention. It was the Chrysanthemum Crest proudly on display. You guess there really was someone who succeeded Nagato as Flagship of the combined fleet.

There is a faint scent of Sakura flowers in the air, as you look into her red eyes. "Ah, I apologise if I disturbed your sleep. But it is currently mealtime, and I couldn't allow myself to ignore you."

Your reply comes as you stand up. "No, it is of no issue. I accidentally took a nap, that it is all. It is my pleasure to meet you, Aircraft Carrier Tosa, at your service,…?" You are still shorter than her. Wow.

She smiles. "Yamato. Battleship Yamato." The weight and burden behind that name is all too apparent to you. "I apologise, but I confess that I, Yamato am not familiar with a Tosa-Class aircraft carrier." Formal language.

Not many are, as expected. Both of you start walking towards the Mess Hall. "With the advent of the Washington Naval Treaty back then, the then-Tosa-Class Battleship Kaga was converted into a carrier in the place of Amagi. I may be the elder sister, but please refer to me as the Kaga-Class Aircraft Carrier Tosa."

Understanding blooms on her face. "I see, so you are Kaga's elder sister." Nadeshiko! Is this the mythical Yamato Nadeshiko!?

You concur. "Indeed. Though I am more inexperienced, when compared to Kaga. After all, I somehow came back as an Aircraft Carrier instead of a Battleship." With that, the conversation entered a lull.
I wonder, Shinano. What will you return as? Battleship, or Carrier?
You take the lull in the conversation to examine her closer. The Zulu flag is of some interest, as you doubt she needs a tug right now, it would have a different meaning which you find undecipherable. Still, you cannot help but feel a bit stuck by her appearance and Armaments.

It is 1933 when you enter the Mess Hall, with the conversation having diverted into small talk.

You glance around the Mess hall, as you pick up a plate yourself. You were not very hungry, really. After all, you didn't use any of the supplies that you gained when you ate in the afternoon.

Zuikaku is eating on a table, while a gaggle of 4 destroyers are chatting happily on another table. Well, 2 are chattering more, and the other 2 are more quieter. Where is Kaga? Is she looking for you or busy elsewhere? You wonder.

[ ] Who sit with?
-[ ] Yamato.
-[ ] Zuikaku.
-[ ] Try to invite Yamato to sit with Zuikaku. (Risk of Awkward Silence)
-[ ] Those 4 Destroyers.

Author's Notes: Sorry for the late update. Monogatari, Life, Yu-Gi-Oh, Endless Space, Lack of motivation, studying and Kantai Spring 2016 event ate my life. I also have an A-Level Statistics exam tomorrow. So yeah. Not that much to write about, unfortunately.

All the promised statsheet updates and other things come later.

Also, Using Mobile Hotspot to post this because ISP is a shit, so edits are slower. As a last aside, articles are on Digital storage, so Tosa can read them on her phone. If the thing stays intact anyway.

That last bit is kinda sad. Isn't there still concept art for Shinano drifting around out there? I believe she's supposed to come back as a carrier.
