[X] A source of intel! Smooth talk your way with the ship girl and land Witch about the going of the base. Make friends everywhere.
A chance. "Hey, be more careful. Or is that radar only for show?" You kinda have to look down due to being of tall stature, but with the height advantage you make eye contact with okay Charlotte, not Charlotte Yeager. Her eyes went from Yuudachi's behind to you, promptly her face recovers from the collision then changes to a strange silent awestruck from looking at you. It must be the height, you swear you're not massively alluring fave wise, right?
Meanwhile Poi-chan bows her head, which hits your chest but doesn't stop her from apologizing. "Aahh, I'm like really sorry, poi! I'll be more careful." Still with her body sorta bowed, she looks up to you, almost looking like a puppy only missing the ears and fur.
Ah, you need to focus. For now, you'll play a weaker version of Sobel. "Name!"
Immediately your shouts rouses the two girls into a muster pose with the ship saluting the Nippon way. "Eek! Y-Yuudachi, ship!"
Leuder is much the same in the normal and not the Nazi way. "Sergeant Charlotte Lueder, Witch!"
You already knew that of course. Gently you pat their shoulders as a way to get them to relax and take a step back. "Call me Joan. I'll be working with you, nice to meet you. You two wouldn't mind hanging out with a new girl, would you?"
There's a distinct three second pause for Yuudachi to compile her thoughts into words. You can tell when her eyes stray from you for the ceiling then widening with a eureka moment. "Oh! Transfer! Sure, I'll tell you everything you need to know Miss Joan! First off, breakfast! This way, poi!" Grabbing your hand and Charlotte's, Yuudachi drags you off to the closest dining hall, like five doors down where you were. Inside it's absolutely empty of people and there's not a hint of a cooking smell here. You find it almost strange for the time being, but that goes away after one sentence. "Cooking time!"
Cooking duty, ya got reason now. Then at the same time a huge fear tingles your body. Can they cook!? "Uh, did you two know how to cook?"
Timidly, Lueder shakes her head and answers. "I don't know that much."
"None, but I watched Houshou-san do it a bunch!" Is the ships answer. Still smiling, Yuudachi skips her way into the kitchen in stride. "It'll be fine, we don't have that much to make from."
Yeah, no. That will not stand. Bad food leads to bad morale.
But you should ask if they're the only ones on duty. "Uh, is it only you two being the cooks?"
Yuudachi stops skipping and tilts her head in thought, then answering with. "Hmm, maybe Shigure if she's not tired, poi. Ah, I should tell you about everyone here. There's a lot of girls and guys here. But some are missing, hmmm."
"Hey, I actually know how to cook so how about I lead? That sound fine? We can talk and work anyway."
"No problem, poi!" Disaster averted, you hope.
As you handcraft some pancakes with edible chocolate and make some fried SPAM on the side all the time being sure that neither ship or Witch hurt themselves, Yuudachi motormouths her version of the base.
"Buildings this is over here and that one is there... I don't really know where we are only it's in Germany... So like there's ships and Witches here and a lot of other people. Houshou-san acts usually as our mom and makes all our meals and there really good so you should try them sometime when she comes back. Also she took the Akatsuki sisters with her so you won't see them here. Now Tenryuu and Tatsuta normally train us but now they lead us when there's fighting but there haven't been a lot of that at sea so we kinda play the support stuff but some of us think we're gonna do some river fighting but I don't know how that'll work. Fubuki and Mutsuki think it'll be okay if we're not alone and I think so too. Ah but the people in charge are the Witches cause they have ranks and stuff. So watch out for Major Sakamoto and Colonel Wicke and don't mess with them. I don't talk to them that much though. Oh, for Witches there's some land and air ones. Charlotte here is a tank one so she hangs out with them more than me. Right?"
The spotlight has been shined on the shy girl. "Eh!? Uh yeah."
It seems you'll have to rouse the girl into talking. "Cool. Uh, Yuudachi keep mixing that one for about a minute. So do you use a tank?"
"Hmm, a Tiger Striker."
"You're not the only land Witch stationed, right?"
"At the base, I am. The others are out fighting or patrolling." ... You swear you gotta have to pry really hard to get anything out of her.
"You do have friends at the base, right?"
"They're in the hospital from what I heard and that's kinda at the back. I don't get time to visit them since I'm on standby."
"I see." Feels like a talk with Browning.
"Done Miss Joan!" The cooking goes smoothly.
In the dining room, there's not that many patrons and it's well after ten in the morning. You head count fifteen people at any given time, staying thirty minutes before moving out. It's then you realize the whole war and it's all probably scheduled like this. Even if this place isn't that close to the front the soldiers have to maintain sentry duties. More strange is the lack of girls. Browning's memories of the group don't appear at all when the time clocks twelve in the afternoon.
Yuudachi is, at least, giving what she knows about the tactics going on. It's more or less night fighting for the girls and the men either skirmish or hold what defensible terrain they got. Sounds bad. "It is! We just waiting for the enemy to come at us. But we keep waiting and we keep getting hurt. And like fighting at night sucks, poi!!"
"Then what about the day?" Just when you finish asking, your ears pick up a thunder off in the distance. "Did you hear that?"
"Ah, that's probably the cannons firing at the enemy. Now if the si-" All over the audio system in the base begin blaring out the high pitch warning noises for an enemy attack.
Well, that happened. That can't be a good sign.
Action! ^ For Willpower use.

[] Borrow a Striker. Maybe you can use them?
