To The Beginning IC:ג

"He's most likely in the sewers." I say. "And if he's not, he should be there soon."

Okay, time to go. Unless Caster has any objections.
He has none, busy trying to take the SHINY from a super-elf who appeared from nowhere and proceeded to impale his shoggoths on a long shiny sword.

Berserker shrugs, and in gestures relays the message what she will follow you. Lead the way, Captain Skellington.

...Then she dubiously glances at the tank. It seems, she has some kind of doubts about this particular member of your group.

This reaction leaves me concerned, for I currently possess no reason to wish any ill will upon her. Contemplating for 0.4 milliseconds, I decide to take the risk and bring up this slight issue.

"Is something wrong, miss?"

You sprint. Fast. And then, almost enterely without effort, achieve a speed you have never dreamed before.

Faster than a any animals you know. Faster than a car. Faster than a plane.

Fast enough to make trees slightly bend as you pass; steps heavy enough to shatter concrete destroy the earth as you fly by.

...

Sufficient to say, you arrive to your destination very quickly. And loudly.

'I can't stop the smile on my lips as I come to a halt with a resounding crash. I'll feel bad about the damage later, but right now there's nothing but shock and awe. Everything from the wings of the birds fleeing the noise to the groaning of the trees as they flex from my passing all serve to add to the realization.

I'm like the goddamn Superman!

I was only trying to run at "my" normal speed, but this body… damn. I wasn't expecting its normal to be so different. I'll have to be careful from now on, doing this in the middle of town would be disastrous. I'll probably have to watch my strength too. '

The soft pattering of my…boots against the snow covered earth is in stark contrast to the earsplitting noise of my running. I examine the mansion as I begin looking for the front door. If I'm perfectly honest, it looks kind of like a dump on the outside.

'I hope the owner is still here.'

Still, this is the weirdest case of déjà vu I've had in a while. Old and new, it's almost as though I know where the front door is. Maybe the person whom I'm borrowing this body from lived here at one point?

There is a strange itch at the back of my mind as I continue to circle the castle. It was small at first, but it grows the further I go. Sort of like adding weights to the backpack of a jogger.

How cute, someone made a snowman!

She proceed to write another message with her mace.

"Too big."

I ponder the response for 12.3 microseconds as I wonder just what she means by my size. Then I remember that we are planning to enter the sewers. Such a location would be much too small for me to enter, but it does not take more than 1.2 milliseconds for me to formulate a plan.

"Do not worry. Even though I may be too big to actually enter the sewers, I have a way to be able to meaningfully contribute. After all, my creators did not just give me this hull..."

I open my front bay doors to reveal my stock of much smaller drones, both ground and aerial variants, all loaded with their own types of admittedly weaker but still effective weaponry.

"I admit, my creators happened to follow the 'no such issue as being over prepared' modicum very well."

You see birds on the snowman's head. Which appears to be made of metal.

Prana reserves, 73% restored. Full combat functionality, restored. Ready for immediate action.

That took hours! fucking Sentiment, making me waste all that time and effort.
"I'm sorry"

Okay, all that's left is to reform my body and-

Great! Perfect! Saber's here, isn't that just LOVELY?!

...Wait a minute, that's not Saber.

Well, it is, I mean she has the face, the hairdo, the armor and even the Excalibur. But instead of blue, white and gold, it's all black and red. If I remember right, then she's Saber Alter. Crap, did Angra Mainyu get loose so soon? Impossible. Then that only leaves a few possibilities...

But first-"

"Hi there, miss! My, do you look pretty in black and red! Could you do the poor living helmet a favor and bring him inside? I'd like to get warm.:"

'Why didn't those birds fly away?'

Perhaps not the most intelligent thought, but it was worth looking in to. They didn't look like magpies or ravens. So they couldn't be after the shiny bits. Not that there was much shine left to the old helmet, and that's most assuredly what it is now that I'm close enough to get a good look.
The helmet kind of looked like a dog. With long bronze ears atop a "face" of dull iron and a goldish colored jaw. Battered and broken, I can see why some kid would use it as the head of a snowman.

Yet the closer I get to the snowman, the heavier the weight in the back of my mind becomes. It would almost be worrying if I didn't know that it was just a decoration.

"Hi there, miss! My, do you look pretty in black and red! Could you do the poor living helmet a favor and bring him inside? I'd like to get warm.:"

That's strange. I could have sworn that snowman just-

My hand lay on the hilt of my sword. Fingers tightening around the haft as I examine the object as it sits harmlessly atop a body of snow. Yet something tells me that this isn't what I've been feeling.

I suppose it wouldn't be too much to help it out, and so I wordlessly nod and pick the object up by the ear. Maybe the weirdness will go away if I ignore it.

And so I continued on my way to the castle with my passenger in tow. I'm still worried about that strange feeling I have, but now I have something to throw in case something tries to jump me. With the castle looming just in front of me, though I'm still not sure the owners are in, I'll be able to get a ride home and get as far away from here as possible.

She walks up to me and- Owowowowowow!

Damn it, why is my luck so terrible? First, Sentiment get our body blown to smithereens, then I get turned into a snowman, then used as a perch/toilet for birds, then get manhandled by a Servant. Doesn't she know the lifting someone up by the ear is painful?

"Ow! No, wait, ow! Not by the ear, not by the ear! carrymecarryme!"

I had barely managed to search a few rooms of the castle, damn the place was big, when I heard the noise from outside. Fearing that we might be under attack or more likely Sentiment, who i'm suddenly thinking of as Olaf now weird, did something stupid.

So I rushed towards the door, arriving in the entrance hall just as she entered. and I froze, memories of that night flashing before my eyes.
Saber Alter...strange

There's an odd temptation to whistle in amazement as I step into the lobby. For however dumpy the outside of the castle looks, the insides were really impressive. Clean diamond checkered floor, impressive statues, walls adorned with paintings and a red carpet along the stairs ascending to the second floor.

To the left is a desk of some kind, black marble sitting atop a throne of gold. A bit ostentatious in my opinion, but I'm not one to talk. At least it's a good place to put my newly acquired helmet for the time being. I was getting a bit tired of his complaining.

Of course it isn't going to be that easy.

I must look like a nut to this kid. Standing here in what seems to be a pitch black suit of armor, I can make a pretty well educated guess on why she looks like she's about to wet herself. At least I got rid of the face mask back in the woods. That would have been awkward to explain.
I set the gaudy looking helmet down on the ground, and in the same motion kneel down to her height.

"Are your parents' home?"

Ugh, that voice. I'll have to get used to hearing someone else eventually. But still, at least it was soft enough to, hopefully, let her know that I'm not going to run her through like a kabob.

I flinched back as the armored figure approached me, my body shifting into a defensive stance ready for the attack that I know was coming. This was the same thing that had almost killed me, Miyu, Rin and Luvia not too long ago.
Wait, different.
It was then that I noticed subtle, and not to subtle differences between what stood in front of me and the thing from back then. The primary difference was the fact that it wasn't wearing the visor it has back then and the lack of the cloud of mana or any kind of killing intent.

"umm...n-no" I said inching a few feet back "W-who are you?" I asked my heart pounding in my chest, god I wish Kuro was here but she was somewhere else in the castle at the moment. At least if it attacked I was pretty confident I could hold it off until help arrived.

I can't exactly answer that question right away. As much as I'd like to, I'm not sure if I should answer by my real name or by the name of the person who owns this body. It must be kind of funny watching me stand there with my mouth ajar.

There's something just on the tip of my tongue. Something that I know I can use to answer the question without feeling bad about it. It feels like steel and strength, an unstoppable force.

"Saber" I respond, trying to be as non-threatening as possible.

I feel a little bit silly responding with the title of an anime character, but it fits for some reason. I only hope that the kid doesn't think I'm even more loony that she already does.

…Not that she has room to judge in my opinion. Dressed in that frilly pink and white dress. Who even wears and ascot in these times?

I stare into her eyes as she declares her name, was this the person I was supposed to protect?
Different Version, different Saber
No, she was different from the person I saw in those visions, it was subtle but there different was there. "Alter." the words escaped my lips, surprising me. This had happened earlier with the helmet.

"Ummm, hello saber. I'm Illya." I said trying to hit my uncertainty, this just didn't feel right. Shakily I extended my hand.

"Ooh," I say as Alter placed me down onto a table. Man, did it hurt literally hanging off of something by the ear. "Oh yeah, this is niiiice. Thank you, Saber!"

I observe the conversation taking place between the two, taking note of the tone of hesitance and fear in Ilya's voice and the stiff, defensive posture of Alter. From here, it looks like a parent going to scold a child. A good analogy but there's something a bit off with it. My gaze lingered on Alter. Why was she here? How did she get here? Was she like us? Another SVer sent by ROB?

If that's true, how test it without getting myself killed?

...Screw it, I'll just ask.

"So, Saber. How did you get here?"

"Ummm, hello saber. I'm Illya."
With a smile I accept her hand and gently shake it. She must be shy around strangers, so it's best to make myself as friendly as possible. No need to get myself kicked out after all.

"Nice to meet you Illya." I reply with an upbeat tone. It's nice finally finding someone who was relatively normal out here. The flirty helmet was way out of my comfort zone.

Probably best not to let the kid know that her parents' decorative piece is alive.

"So, Saber. How did you get here?"

So much for that idea, damn.

"With my feet." I deadpan as I look back down at the helmet.

"I remember that part clearly. I heard you tearing through the forest at Mach speed." I'd shake my head I weren't a head right now. "No, I meant how did you get here? In this city? Did someone drop you here or...?"

As I spoke with Alter, I felt Sentiment grow restless. In the back of my mind, I felt him mumbling in coherently and doing mental equivalents of jerking movements and twitches. What's going on with him?

That way.
"This way!" I decide, marching off to find the sewers that Caster was hiding in.

My revealing of my drones seems to have alleviated the woman's concerns with my ability to follow. As the skeleton being appears to continue his way, I now ponder the concern itself, and realize from the map I have pulled up from my database that I cannot practically continue any further in the direction we are going.

1.2 microseconds later, I conclude that it would be best for me to follow as a drone for now. Deploying a ground and air drone, I close my front bay doors as I inform the others of my intentions.

"Attention, my scans inform me it is no longer practical for me to traverse from our current location to our destination. I am thus switching my physical approach from my main hull to these drones, and will render my assistance in this manner."

As I inform the group of my decision, I relocate myself back into the forest I had originated from, and enter normal standby awareness status, while my drones now take over my position in the group, following the skeleton warrior.

I didn't jump. Really, I didn't, I just fell over. I was still scared half to death though.

"SONUVA-Since when did Beserkers have Presence Concealment?! Damn it, you aren't supposed to be sneaky with all that super-powered strength and whatnot!" I pause and jerk my head around to face her fully. "And what do you mean by getting ahead? I don't have any legs!" Yet anyway.

I'm flying over water. Pinch me because i must be dreaming but it's true I'm really floating just a couple meters over water. Just ho.. oh it's so obvious

Since I'm in Imperius's body I have wings now, looking over my shoulder and I could see tendrils of energy moving slightly to keep me afloat.

This is amazing I'm in an Archangels body and possibly with everything it entails. Lets see, Angels from Diablo are supposed to have super strength, endurance and other Angelic physical attributes, telekinesis and Magic.

I can't test the first few right now but magic is some...

Then something interrupted my thoughts, I started to feel something screaming at me to move and that I'm in danger. Heeding my feelings I started to fly higher with my new limbs when a tentacle burst through the water and rose to where I was previously, well that was close.

"Dodge" a familiar voice echoed in my head

Without even thinking about it I flew backwards and dodged another tentacle bursting from the water by mere inches. More of the things rose to the top, soulless black with teeth and eyes across its length, this thing it's unnatural, it's not of this world, it doesn't belong here, it must DIE.

Two minds became one, combat experience from millenniums of war, knowledge of magics and connection to a power that created the universe filled my brain and soul.

Thunder cracked and light shined bright as Solarion the spear of Valor formed and flew to its owner. I grabbed the spear and attacked.

Flying onward i latched onto the closest tentacle and pierced it, Black blood dripped from and the thing shook erratically trying to shake me off but i held on tight. Metal cut through flesh and sliced the tentacle's tip which dissolved once separated from the main body.

Did the Assassin class skills get mixed in?
like a ninja or something. However it turns out that getting startled while on stair is not a very safe thing to happen as I ended up misplacing my footing and tumble into Alter.

"Gah!"

I flinch at the sudden appearance of another. With her white long hair, ridiculous outfit and…

Huh…

That sword is kind of familiar…

A giant howls. Against gale winds and flying rubble I maneuver through the wide arcs of the maddened swordsman's weapon to attack his body.

I stare at her as a half forgotten memory dances through my thoughts, and I find that I can't really sum up the will to disperse it. With a haze floating through my mind, I let instincts handle things while I try to sort through the fog.

The air began suffuse with a dark, mist-like energy.

Then Illya flopped into me, and the fog burned away in the sunlight.

I stumble backwards as several pounds of 'twelve year old girl' comes crashing into me. Mostly out of surprise than the force.

"Hey! Are you alright?"

Holding her by the shoulders, I look her over to make sure that she didn't hurt herself on my armor.
