After taking care of the other bandit outposts located by Epsilon, I was just thinking whether to go back to them or loaf around for a bit.
I actually don't know where they are. Epsilon said they will be skulking about the desert region above the river, so I just searched for every suspicious place at my fastest speed, doing my usual speech patterns around them.
It's very boring. None of the outposts had anything worth mentioning. They had some gold and jewelry, but only the girls would be excited with the latter, while the gold coins barely satisfied my needs.
I destroyed at least ten bandit bases, but why were all of them so poor? It's not even funny!
At least I managed to loot a bunch of magic suppressing devices. I can't get enough of them, considering how often I destroy them lately.
"You, who lurks in the depths of nature, reveal yourself and face me!"
This part of the river looks good. It has this mysterious vibes going for it with the dim glow of the purple forest surrounding it. I tried saying that randomly, because it felt just right saying that.
Surprisingly, something actually comes out. It seems to be some kind of monster, with its upper half being a beautiful statue of a woman made out of bronze. The bottom half is a mix of antlions, centipedes, and even some crustaceans. It's hard to tell, because it honestly looks gross.
"Who art thee?"
Hoh? It can actually speak?
But its voice is weird. It has this echoing effect in my mind that is both disturbing and soothing. I can't really understand, so whatever.
The way it worded its words are pretty archaic. I can somewhat understand it, though it will be hard if it speaks long sentences.
"My name is Shadow. I lurk in the darkness and hunt down shadows!" Let's just introduce myself for now. I'm still in my Shadow mode, so I think that kind of introduction is just right.
"Thee dareth visage me?"
Thee… what?
Sorry, I still haven't mastered the language commonly used on this continent, especially the archaisms, so I actually don't understand those deep sounding words. Let's just say something random.
"It is my only purpose."
To not let this monster ask anything else, I took a stance and made my intent known that I want to fight it. With a single subtle movement, one can easily convey one's hostility to the other party, regardless if they are a human or a beast.
"Have at thee!" I remember a sentence always used in one of the story books my mother usually read to me, so I decided to use that. I think it has the same meaning as a similar phrase in my past life.
By the way, while I am facing this monster, I am also a bit distracted by my Chibirisa perspective. Delta is there just like how I told her.
As expected, it seems like that fish demon is coming at Chibirisa. A lot of monsters tried to eat Chibirisa yesterday, so this fish monster might also be attracted to it.
Also, It seems like it also brought some of its friends. All of them being monsters, obviously.
… Well, it's Delta. I guess she will be fine! Delta was eagerly waiting for the prey she locked her eyes with. The one who dared to run away from her last night.
Her eyes narrowed into slits as she bared her teeth with a wicked grin. Her tail wagged softly as she observed the enlarged fish head of the monstrosity.
It seemed like it had called on its friends as she saw two other monsters with the same malicious aura as the fish head. One seemed to be a mix of a hedgehog and a tiger, and the other looked like a really grotesque amalgamation of multiple insect limbs in a mesh of flesh goop.
"Delta has been waiting!" Her eyes lit up dangerously as she brandished both of her clawed gauntlets and then took a pouncing stance. "Watch me, Boss Lady! Delta will make sure to hunt this prey successfully!" She said to the slime clone of her lady standing behind her, before she pounced at one of the creatures.
The slime clone just stared at her blankly, before simply vanishing. Delta smirked, as the monster roared in anger. She wanted to take care of these beasts by her lonesome, because she was confident that she could beat them all.
In a surprising display of physical strength, she quickly managed to get to the fish monster's side and slam its head with an open palm. Then, she followed it with a kick before its body was blown far away from her reach.
The fish monster hits the trees in the distance, breaking through them as it was pushed by the force of Delta's kick. Though it didn't stay idle, as it screamed at her with its mouth full of teeth opened wide, releasing a noxious green beam.
Instinct blared within Delta's mind, but she only grinned, before kicking the hedgehog/tiger hybrid that seemed to have thought she showed an opening. Despite kicking the spiky area of its surprisingly sharp spikes of its body, Delta came out unharmed due to the stupendous amount of magic she imbued into her leg.
The body was blown directly into the path of the fish monster's noxious beam. The hedgehog/tiger hybrid let out a scream of agony as it was hit square on the body. The steel-like spikes melted quickly, causing burns to its majestic body within.
A series of elongated insect limbs stretched out like feelers and bent at impossible angles as if they ricocheted on the air, the multiple sharp tips of these insect limbs directly targeting Delta's form.
Though Delta, instead of dodging, has once more proven her stubbornness as she grabbed two of the limbs shooting at her and yanked them forcefully, making them break out of their source. In an instant after she did that, she quickly transitioned to swinging her claws around her in a savage flurry, letting the two limbs she yanked off fall on the ground with an unceremonious thud.
The deep dark claws jutting out of her violet gauntlets created a screeching noise as they pierced through the insect limbs approaching her. The sound akin to metal being shredded is emitted as sparks fly around with each of her swings that rend those steel-like limbs.
She then kicked the nearest tree in her vicinity, cutting it in half and letting it fall onto her, before sending it flying with another spinning kick. The fleshy amalgamation in the distance opened some sort of cavity within its body, seeming intent to summon more insectile flesh and limbs as the tree launched by Delta approaches its form.
The tree hits true on its body, making the monster let out a scream that is irritable to the ears. It was a noise that seemed to linger on the mind, and had the sound of both claws scratching against glass, chittering of millions of insects, and a women's choir that seemed to have been distorted like a broken recording.
Delta flinched at that, and her body shuddered at that noise due to her keen hearing. Then she frowned. "Ah! Annoying!" She whined, before quickly jumping away from a green beam launched at her recent position.
She landed on one of the trees, before seeing the hedgehog/tiger hybrid try to sneak away and face the clone of her lady.
"Stop ignoring me!" She shouted as she quickly jumped up, using her superior strength to ascend so high that her figure has turned into a dot in the skies.
Then, controlling a bit of her slime on her feet, she formed a platform she used to kick away, pushing herself downward. Delta descended straight onto the hedgehog/tiger hybrid at immense speed.
The limber monster looked up, and let out a brief roar before promptly being flattened by Delta's slime clad feet. The force of impact cracked the ground, causing the shockwave that uprooted the trees surrounding them. Web-like cracks formed on the enchanted dirt, before it gave up as it sunk in with the force of her kick.
A smoke covered the figure of the two, while the fish monster and the flesh amalgamation let out their own roars, as if calling out for their comrade.
The two seemed intent on waiting things out, in fear of hitting their kin, but their opponent seemed intent on finishing this off as they suddenly revealed themselves within the cover of the smoke. Dashing straight to the fish monster with a predatory gaze at its form.
"One down! Two to go!" She had this manic expression that seems bestial, even more than their own animalistic instincts.
These two felt like they were being stared at by a predator, which should have been impossible, as they were kin of a demon. They should have been the ones who scaring others, not the other way around.
The fish monster opened its mouth impossibly wide, covering almost the whole path that Delta was traversing, though Delta grinned widely before doing something incredibly surprising.
She jumped straight into its monstrous open mouth, not even hesitating despite seeing the many layers of sharp teeth within. Feeling that it managed to fool the beastkin, it closed its mouth with a merciless crunch. Blood seeped through the gaps in its wide mouth and teeth after a while as it chewed on the foolish being who seemed to have jumped straight into its maw.
The Betsu Beast was confident that the beastkin was dead as it crunched on the flesh it could feel within its throat. No one could honestly survive being inside its eldritch organs filled with sharp teeth, spikes, and a toxic miasma that could kill almost any living being.
Even those who are the members of the Rounds wouldn't dare jump to its mouth, lest they wished to meet their ends. The miasma is so potent that even mithril is nothing but just a chewing gum between its teeth.
"!?!?" So it was surprised when it felt something within its body, like a pain searing through its inhuman organs, its flesh mercilessly being severed from within.
It choked, opening its mouth with desperate yelps of agony. It sounded desperate to find some wind as it thrashed around the surroundings. Its body destroyed the ground and the trees surrounding it, and its tail was smacking everything, even the flesh amalgamation that moved back in alarm.
Blood seeped out of the gaps between its black scales, bathing them in red as it lurched, seemingly throwing up. Spittle and blood only left its wide open fish mouth, as its eyes bulged out. Its body staggered greatly, before shooting a huge discharge of its deadly beam around.
The surroundings melted with its noxious breath. Though even that seemed to have not done anything as it coughed with its monstrous voice. It slams its head on the ground, trying to take off the immense pain that has struck within its body.
'The purpose…'
'It can't end like this….'
'This can't be…'
With little intelligence that it had, it became incredibly anxious thinking of its only purpose in existence. It couldn't understand what was happening.
Then, its beating heart trembled, before it felt a sense of absence within. The echoing noise resounded on its dying breath as something burst out of its incredibly tough body.
The one that left the exposed belly of its oval-shaped body is a bloody figure of the beastkin. Stuck on her teeth is the beating flesh of its core, as she raised her clawed hand and seemed to hold some of its guts.
She spat it out, the heart slowly losing its energetic beating as it landed on the ground.
"Bleugh! It tastes horrible!" Delta, the one who was supposed to have been devoured, stated with a frown on her face.
There were still some sharp teeth that stuck on her shoulders and belly, though she seemed unperturbed with that. She even grunted with barely any emotion other than annoyance as she grabbed those teeth, their length varying between a knife and a longsword, and unceremoniously threw them away before facing the flesh amalgamation, who flinched at her.
"Two down. One more to go!" Her eyes glew maliciously as she licked her lips. Her body's posture lowered into a pouncing stance.
Despite her body being riddled with deep wounds, it seems like she was still eager to continue the fight. The holes on her slime suit were already closing as if it didn't matter to her.
I always see Delta as this badass who will face danger just because she can, and she is confident with it despite others thinking otherwise.
I am actually planning to make it longer, but I decided to not stretch out the battle that long. So it ended like this one. It is still decently long, so I hope you have fun with this.

I am fine not eating for a week. I can hold off by just controlling my own metabolism.
Though, why the hell would I do that?
I only do that when I am trying to catch up with my training. I mostly did that on earlier years on this world before I even met Alpha. I hid it from my family when I was young, not letting them see that everything I ate are being spitted out later.
Did Shadow cause herself to be Malnourished? Because while an adult can do this although it will suck she was a kid and she would have needed the nutrients to grow. What I'm saying is that like many of her problems her height and frail appearance seem to be her own damn fault.

In the outskirt village near the Betsu River, the sounds of battle resounded. The roars and screams of men dying as blades and arrows of purple and black mark their flesh pierced the air.
Men wearing either black robes or common hemps wielded blades made of steel and mithril. They displayed strength above the common men, showing that they were not normal at all.
Though even with their strength that was comparable to those of the Knight Order of the Midgard Kingdom, they simply fell as flies as the two beautiful elves swept through them with contemptuous ease.
The beautiful petite elf swinged her scythe in a wide arc, reaping the life of those foolish enough to get near her. Even those who were just at the nearby vicinity of her scythe's range were hit by the thick line of magic focused on the edges of her scythe.
The other, a silver haired beauty, stood on the roof as she used her bow that shined like amethyst. Shooting arrows of black that hit true on her foes, she slayed them one by one at a surprisingly fast pace. Her posture was straight and elegant, like a moon goddess hunting her game.
As all of these are happening, two individuals were facing off against each other. They clashed blades for a brief moment, before the man with strong and arrogant features was blown away once more into another house, destroying it in the process.
His foe, another elf beauty with sharp features and a beautiful long dark blue hair, hefted her large blade up and propped it on her shoulder. Looking incredibly excited at seeing her enemy blown away.
It only took a moment before Gouman punched the wreckage of the wooden house away from him. Spitting a mouthful of blood from his lips while he used his free hand to crack his neck for a moment with a few movements of his head.
"Shit… I knew it, you are the strongest one out of all of them!" He said with a grin as he glared at the black haired elf.
Gamma smiled awkwardly at that. "How flattering. Though, you might just be weaker than me." She simply responded, before taking another stance. A simple stance where she wields her sword with both of her hands, and the blade is faced on the front.
"I'm not complimenting you, so stop dreaming. All I'm asking is is that all that this Garden organization whatever you have going on amounts to?…" He grinned. "I can see them, you know? Your openings!"
After saying that, he dashed forward once more at extreme speed. The dark haired elf quickly tried to slam her sword down to cut his path off, though he briefly twisted his ankle, changing his trajectory for a bit and getting to her side, passing by her strike with ease.
A resounding smack has been heard. Gouman curled his lips down in surprise as he felt a surprisingly heavy resistance as he hit her exposed torso. Gamma only grunted as she tried to turn, when Gouman attempted another strike to her neck.
Once more, a resounding clang. This time, he felt his hand gripping the hilt of his sword becoming numb due to the vibration he felt after hitting her surprisingly durable neck. Before he has to dodge as Gamma swings her sword in a wide arc.
"Schwip!"
That sharp whistle makes his brows furrowed for a moment. Before he quickly tries to get back at her.
"Swish! Swish! Swish!"
He is forced to dodge with wide movements as the woman swung her sword with wild abandon, his eyes narrowing as he tried to look for any opening, before quickly taking that split second opening she showed as she went for another upper head slam.
"Die!"
He tried to stab her neck, but his blade was stopped again. Surprisingly, it cracked before shattering, causing him to widen his eyes. He yelped as he barely managed to dodge Gamma's slam.
"Swooosh!"
He is still hit by the air pressure released by her swing. It caused him to be blown away to another nearby house once more, destroying it into wreckage.
'What the fuck!? Just how tough is her skin!?' He thought in bewilderment.
There was also one more thing that's been making him annoyed since he faced her.
'Why does she keep emitting those stupid noises!'
They have been fighting for awhile now, and since then, Gamma was whistling those noises whenever she struck him. It made him really annoyed, unable to see any sense of why she was doing that.
"Is that all you got? You still haven't hit me!" Gamma stated with a smile on her face.
"What did you say bitch!?" He quietly stood up from his prone position, shouting it as he blew the debris away from him. "Stop with the nonsense, you monster! I've already scored a lot of hits on you!"
"Hmph! What a sore loser!" Gamma snorted at his words, honestly thinking he is just coping with the reality that she is superior to him.
"I'll show you!" He glared at her with gritted teeth, before charging at her. Even without a weapon, with the preciseness of his control over his magic, he could easily destroy her with his fist.
So he tried to strike her with a straight hook to the face, though she simply swung her sword, and then swung it even more with wild abandon. Not even showing any technique in her blade rather than randomly striking anywhere.
"Swish! Swish! Swish!"
Accompanied by her noises, his hook was repelled, and then he didn't manage to dodge in time due to the awkwardness of his positioning.
Nobody in this world could perform hand to hand combat decently, so his attacks didn't even have the proper form. Even Gamma could see it as she struck him directly with her sword. Creating a deep gash on his torso as he was blown once more to the side. Skidding to the ground with a grunt.
"Graaaaaa!" He screamed, as he slammed his fist to the ground, before gripping the dirt as he propped his body up and glared at her. "This is impossible! How can I be defeated by an amateur like you!?" He said in anger, his eyes looking at her in disbelief.
He was known as the Supreme Fighter. More superior than the average Named Children. He is someone that has completed a lot of dangerous missions, even managing to barely defeat a demon kin. Even though he had a lot of help with the other First Children and some Named Children, he was still someone who fought a kin of a demon and defeated it as the sole survivor.
Even those at the Lawless City can't contend against him. He is even confident that he could fight against its leaders running it from the shadows.
Then this person who barely had any technique and fought like a child was just beating him up. He felt very humiliated.
"Of course! Our Lady bestowed wisdom unto the inexperienced me! With her advice, I can fight against other foes without worrying about it!" She told him with a proud expression.
The wisdom she is speaking about is, of course, Arisa's sign of throwing the towel and just telling her a half-assed solution to her problem.
"You need to make those swishing and swooshing noises every time you swing your sword. Your attacks will become stronger if you do so!"
"Swing your sword as fast as possible and you can hit any enemies!"
"Just use all your strength and every foe will be defeated!"
Those words have taken root within her heart. She has since always taken it to her heart, thinking that she could defeat almost everyone.
Only the Seven Shades and the rare competent ones within their organization could possibly defeat her. Even the Numbers couldn't really land a hit on her (she believes) when she used those immaculate techniques.
"What…. so you are directly taught by your leader?" He said in surprise before smiling. "I see…. that would explain that monstrous amount of magic!"
Just as he said that, Gamma began to release a humongous amount of magical power. It was so thick she could be mistaken for a kin of a demon. He could see that she has been taught by someone who dared to face the totality of the Cult.
"But, don't underestimate me! Even I can take down someone like you!" He shouted, grabbing a mithril sword from one of his fallen comrades and then focusing most of his magic in it.
He swung his blade, and let it release the excess amount of magic he poured onto it, creating a wave of magic that was supposed to cut the figure of Gamma.
Though it managed to destroy the houses in her surroundings, Gamma only grunted softly. She simply stood there with an unimpressed look.
"I see! So you use a lot of magic to throw magical slashes into the distance!" Gamma nodded in understanding, before taking a stance. "It is a shame that you have a horrible aim. Let me show you this technique's perfect form!"
Even though he tried to put more of his power into his energy slashes, Gamma simply continued as she took an Iaido stance. Though even if she lacked a sheathe, she thought she could do it by just swinging her blade extremely fast.
As stated earlier, after Epsilon learned something from Arisa, she also conveyed it to other members. It was up to them whether they could imitate it, or use it as inspiration for their own techniques.
Gamma also tried to replicate those techniques, and she (mistakenly) thought that she mastered all of them. She felt confident as she used the stance for the Spatial Slash.
"I'll show you! Spatial Sla-aaaaeeeeeee–!?"
She swung her blade wide, though she twisted her ankle at the wrong time, which caused her to slip. Her hands loosened their grip on the hilt of her giant blade, as she let out a grunt as she fell on her side.
The sword that left her hand spun incredibly fast in a horizontal manner, like an active plane propeller, and it quickly reached Gouman's side.
"Ah—?"
He didn't know what happened. He just saw his vision moving upwards as his temple hit the ground. He saw his headless body just standing, before slowly tilting. His eyes still wide open in surprise at that single instant.
'You have to be kidding me….' That's the last thing he thought before his consciousness faded into darkness. "Aaaaaaa! The sword that Lady Shadow gave me!?" Gamma screamed in horror as she saw the sword shredding through the houses in its path. It quickly left her periphery.
She felt incredibly stiff and scared, thinking that she had made another blunder.
She promptly tried to search for the sword, however the other members of the Cult held her up, causing her to regrettably stop to take care of them.
As she was thinking how to explain losing it to her Lady, Epsilon suddenly appeared. Every Cult member surrounding Gamma immediately fell to the ground lifelessly.
"Hey, you almost hit me with your sword!" Epsilon grumbled at her as she handed it back to her.
"Ah! Thank you so much! I thought I couldn't see it anymore!" She said, hugging Epsilon while feeling relieved in her heart.
"Wha–!? You, stop it! We're still in the middle of battle here!" Epsilon pushed Gamma away from her, her face flushing a bit in embarrassment.
"Oh right…" Gamma perked up at that.
"There is no need. I think that is all of them."
They looked up to see Beta landing on one of the rooftops on the house near them.
"Oh… right. It seems like we managed to take care of them all." Epsilon nodded before looking at Gamma. "Are you okay? You fought one of the Named Children…"
"Hmph. Of course! His techniques pale in comparison to the teachings of our Lady!" She said with a smug expression.
As the three of them were speaking to each other, all of them perked up when they heard the rumbling sound below. Their eyes narrowed before looking forward. Just in time, the land itself quaked before sinking, as a large head the size as wooden houses revealed itself with its visor shining.
"... An artifact?" Epsilon muttered under her breath.
The metallic giant then revealed its full height to them, causing them to gawk in surprise. It easily reached 200 ft in height alone. Its form is humanoid, though it's made of what seems to be a mix of steel and mithril. The visors that acts as its eyes looked down on them.
"... It seems like we are still not done fighting yet…" Beta said with a frown on her face.

Bio: Arisa Frelldyll
Appearance: Purple Hair, Golden Eyes, Petite Body.
Relatives: Klaus Frelldyll (Father), Martha Frelldyll (Mother)
Affiliation: House Frelldyll, Shadow Garden
Powers: Expert Combatant, Superior Physical Performance, Mana Manipulation, Divine Powers.
Story: Arisa Frelldyll is born to Klaus and Martha Frelldyll, members of a relatively recent barony. Known for her sickly and despondent appearance, people tend to look at the girl with pity and sympathy. Unbeknownst to them however, Arisa is a surprisingly (not to us) zany character, being like a happy-go-lucky girl all the while crushing her enemies like a vicious animal. Her dreams are to one day become a mysterious power broker that manipulates events from the shadows.
Alpha jumped from one tree branch to another. Her eyes looked forward with a sharp expression on her face
She has been contemplating for a while after their Lady left until she reached a conclusion.
'Those at the Seats won't necessarily show themselves even if a forest pops out of nowhere. They might become interested, but they will only send some of their important personnel without involving themselves.' She thought. 'That means… our Lady is targeting someone!'
With that conclusion, she could easily shorten the possible candidates until she arrived at most likely answer.
'Nahemah! The Ancient Beasts created by Diablos' rampage!'
Nahemah. One of the 10 Ancient Beasts created from the Second Armageddon. It was the dawn of the monster kind, and being created directly by the Demon, they could be considered as the first monsters to exist in this world.
Nahemah, based on the ancient texts obtained in some old ruins, was known to be capable of bending human emotions to its whims. Regardless of their gender, they would simply turn into mindless puppets due to its machinations.
If this wasn't enough, the 10 Ancient Beast are stated to have some of the capabilities that the Demon Diablos has. The ability to nullify magic, and their incredible vitality that almost makes them immortal.
They could also conceive spawn, known as Demon Spawn. They inherited some of the abilities of their "parents".
They could be considered the original template for what was known as monsters, and Nahemah was considered the one who owned the seas and the insects. Most crustacean-based or insectile-based monsters originated from it.
The ancient texts stated that they are loyal followers of the Demon Diablos, and if it came to it, they could use themselves as substitutes to manifest the existence of Diablos. What made it possible was the fact that all of them came from Diablos.
Alpha was very worried lately after the debacle in the Holy City of Lindwurm. The Witch of Calamity's fate was unknown, but it can be surmised that she might be somewhere on this world, trying to recoup her strength for her upcoming plan. Whatever that plan was, it would surely destabilize the status quo of this world.
They couldn't afford that if they wanted their operations to go smoothly. Dealing with the Cult was their number one priority still. They just had to make sure that Aurora wouldn't do anything to make things worse.
'No one knows where the ten Ancient Beasts reside. Most people are even skeptical of their existence. Though if the Betsu Beast always stays on the Betsu River… my Lady might have deduced that one of the ten Ancient Beasts is in there!'
It was a leap of logic that could be considered absurd. There was no way an Ancient Beast like that would hide itself so near to human civilization. The Cult seemed to hunt them with fervor regardless of the expenses and casualties.
Though if it was her Lady who was doing it, for Alpha it would make sense. Because their Lady only went to places that needed her attention. Everything else was nonessential for her.
'The Betsu Beast willingly leaving its nest, the Cult becoming incredibly busy with the forest…. all of it has been arranged by her hands! She wanted to finish it by her lonesome!' Alpha's eyes lit up with determination. 'But I refuse! I don't want you to be the only one to bear this burden! This time, I will help!'
The memory of seeing their mistress bedridden, and that burning feeling as they touched their mistress lying on the ground at that time…. it breaks her heart.
Since having seen that, everyone from the Shadow Garden pursued more power. They trained a lot harder, and focused most of their concentration on researching everything that could help their mistress.
Alpha knew that even if the others didn't really talk about it, they were also feeling incredibly ashamed. Their mistress continued to fight by her lonesome while they tried to act as if they were helping.
Not anymore. They have to be more proactive than before. Because they feared that if they continued being idle in their seats, their Lady might just vanish one day. Not because she abandoned them, but rather because she might meet her untimely demise.
She has to show her mistress that she can trust them more. That this time, they will actually not become a burden for her.
She was the only one who saved them from their doom. She was not even a part of their conflict against the Cult. She just did it because she wanted to.
'This gratitude…. I have to repay it somehow…!' It was the only thought within her mind. It took a while before she finally arrived on the Betsu River, at the area that was suspected to be the Betsu Beast's nest. Her eyes narrowed for a moment as she felt her magic being suppressed as she got closer. Her eyes then noticed a small girl facing a monstrosity that had the lower body part being that of a centipede, crustacean hybrid.
"Nullification field!" She muttered under her breath, though she only looked forward. Taking off a necklace she has been wearing for awhile now and throwing it away.
With that, she felt the pressure of the magic suppression becoming lighter on her metaphysical senses. Flexing her hold on her magic and quickly trying to knitting them in a granular way, trying to make them thicker as she quickly rushed to get to Arisa's side.
Alpha has been training. She has been incredibly curious since she found out her mistress was practicing while wearing a stupendous amount of magic suppressing accessories all over her body (along with a lot of heavy weights, much to her horror).
Though she didn't go on the same length as her mistress, she tried to replicate her. At first she couldn't even control her magic under the effects of the magic suppression, though it took her a year before she finally managed to control it. Then another year to fully master it.
Since then, she tried to wear stronger versions of those accessories, and her rate of learning magic control became sharper and more efficient as time passed. Her rate of growth became so much faster that Alpha thought she might be a lot better at magic control than Epsilon.
Of course she couldn't beat Epsilon as that girl was naturally talented when it came to magic control, but her hard work might have taken her to a similar level. She might even be close to surpassing her.
She could see her mistress managing to fight against the monster despite this nullifying aura that this monstrosity had. It meant that even her mistress has trained for this kind of situation. Showing just how prepared she was when it came to facing the spawn of Diablos!
"Lady Shadow!" She called out before repelling a swipe from the large scythe-like limb of the monster. It is surprisingly hard, though the artifact she got from her mistress easily managed to block its strike.
"... Alpha." Her mistress still looked composed. As if she already predicted this.
"Please Lady Shadow, let me help!" She said, standing besides her mistress while facing against the monstrosity.
Nahemah was releasing an incredible amount of pressure and magical prowess. It was a lot more than everything she had seen before. It even seemed like this entity surpassed the mana capacity of her mistress.
"So thou haveth compatriots! But tis futile! Regardless of who cometh h're, all of those folk shall meeteth the same fate!"
It seemed like it wasn't intent on giving them time to talk as it moved its long crustacean/insectile body as if it was a snake, its length seemingly endless as it revealed more of its centipede-like body's layers. Its limbs elongated into impossible size, and then changed shapes with a sickening crunch. The greenish juices on the joints of those limbs seeped out of its metallic pores and fell to the ground. The drops melted the ground entirely.
The shapes of its insectile limbs became differing types of pincers, claws, scythes, or other sharp or pointed body parts. They held a malicious sheen that seemed to promise horrifying death to those who would face it.
Then it bent its body at impossible angles, moving in every direction at them as its hundreds of limbs lashed at them with incredible speed. Each of the swings of these slashes seemed to contain immense power and corrosive acids that burned even the air it touched.
"Do you truly want to follow me?" Her question surprised her, though she simply focused on the fight as she tried to think of an answer.
The way her mistress asked that seemed to touch her heart. Despite the two of them repelling the deadly attacks of the Ancient Beast, there was a depth in her tone that demanded her attention. Like she was prodding her of all of her intentions.
She only had a single answer for that.
"Since the day you saved me at that time, I always swore to myself to be there by your side." Alpha ducked before kicking a scythe-like limb that cut through air, surprisingly bending it in half with just her kick alone. "I know this is uncharacteristic of me, and I'm not as strong as you. I know you really want to do it alone. But…." Her eyes held a strong hint of determination in them, answering her mistress as she repelled the barrage of acid being sprayed in their direction with her surprising speed and efficiency on her blade.
"I want to be by your side. I will always follow you, regardless of your actions! It is my own wish to always help you with your goals, so please let me help you!"
She stated her true feelings.
She noticed her mistress seemingly flinching, before quickly repelling two large sharp spikes that shot out of the entity.
"I see…." Alpha's heart trembled greatly as she heard that voice of relief from her mistress. "I understand…." Her eyes widened when she saw those eyes as her mistress turned to her.
She couldn't understand it. She usually saw sadness and loneliness within. Though this time, it was different. Her eyes contained an unknown emotion that hinted of something grim. She seemed to be looking at her intently now.
"Lady Shadow…?" This was the first time she saw that expression from her mistress.
"Those words are unneeded…" Alpha's eyes widened at that, and then she froze. "Throw away your emotions and face your foe. We are fighting a beast that greatly threatens the world!"
She blinked for a moment at that, before widening her eyes.
She could feel her heart pounding a lot since she came here. There was a persistent voice within her mind that seemed to urge her to speak her own feelings on the matter.
It only took her a moment before she finally deduced what was happening. She gritted her teeth, biting the bottom of her lips to feel that prickling pain.
With that, she snapped out of the haziness in her mind that she was feeling since a while ago. Though she could feel that pressure is looming so close to her consciousness.
'Nahemah!?'
She almost forgot. Nahemah was capable of twisting emotions to it's whims. Even she was not immune to it.
"I acknowledge your feelings, Alpha. Though it is not the time for that…" Her Lady simply said with a cold tone. "If you truly want to help me, then stand behind me!"
Her eyes widened after hearing that. By standing behind her, it meant she was actually entrusting her back to her.
"Lady Shadow…"
"..." Her lady gazed at her for a moment, before slicing the limbs that tried to go straight at her.
Alpha felt somewhat somber at her earlier words, though hearing those latter words makes her feel a bit relieved.
She moved to stand behind her mistress, and it might be her imagination, but she thought her mistress relaxed for a moment after that.
This is it for today. I'll be sleeping now...

However, unbeknownst to everyone but Klaus, she holds a dark secret which she fears would one day encroaches onto her daughter. Martha's only desire is to see Arisa safe and happy and anyone that dares to harm her child would meet her wrath.
The battle ensued. Three elves scattered away with a jump before the stomp of the gigantic entity could flatten them. Its stomp caused the ground to shake, and the remaining wooden houses fell over after its steps formed fissures in the ground.
The head of the gigantic machine turned to Epsilon who jumped to the side, before bending its body over for a moment as it swiped one of its hands towards her. The tip of its metallic claws shined brightly with red, showing a menacing aura that seemed to promise death.
Epsilon simply glanced at it before the hand reached her position. The fingers dug and scooped into the ground before throwing it away with barely any effort.
Though surprisingly, Epsilon was already elsewhere.
"Too slow!"
Above, Epsilon fell onto the exposed arm of the robot, landing on what could be considered its forearm and then quickly kicking off to sprint towards its shoulder.
El Gigante saw what she was doing. It raised its hand, intent on swatting her away.
"I won't let you!"
Though it was interrupted by the black arrows that suddenly approached its head with surprising speed. Its hand moved away from Epsilon to protect its face from the arrow with its palm.
With this opening, Epsilon got to its shoulder, and swung her scythe into its exposed wire-like neck.
BRRRRRT–ZZZZTTTT!!!!
Warning signs appeared inside El Gigante's visor. Oblivious of the fact, Epsilon continued swinging her scythe around with a graceful arc, cutting off the other large tubes and wires that act as its neck.
"Tsk!"
Epsilon was going to resume attacking if not for the sudden feeling of impending doom that she felt. Quickly, she jumped away from the giant metallic unit. Just after she did that…
FZZZZZT—!
Its body lit up, before releasing a pulse of electricity that ionized the surrounding area into burnt crisps. Epsilon narrowed her eyes at that.
"What an annoying trick!" She clicked her tongue once more as she glared at the large humanoid machine.
She saw more arrows being shot from the distance, courtesy of Beta. Beta seemed to be imbuing more magical power into her slime arrows, as they became bigger and bigger as she knocked them.
The charged ones barely managed to make a scratch on the palms of the metallic entity, though it could be seen that it was being affected, contrary to uncharged ones that were ineffective despite hitting the joints between its supposed fingers.
Epsilon looked at her scythe after witnessing that.
"It truly is sharper than our normal weapons…" She muttered, her admiration for her lady rising up with this.
She pulled her attention back towards the battle once more.
"I have to find another opening…" She said, then she glanced on the side, sensing the remaining enemies watching them from hiding in the distance. "I think I will leave it to Gamma. She can handle those mooks!" She simply muttered. On that side, Pro was overlooking the battle with a gasping in his mask.
"Impossible…. Two elves are competing against El Gigante!"
He could see how the El Gigante was barely managing to move forward to hit them. The two were so nimble and good at coordinating with each other.
"Are those the rumored Shades?" He muttered under his breath.
Being one who leads a major research lab for the Cult, he was privy to classified info that the Cult had. This included those who were suspected to be their high profile enemies like the leader of the Shadow Garden.
There was barely anything they knew about them. One of the things they did was that there are seven members of Shadow Garden known as the Seven Shades. They could be considered on par with those at the Seats, which was honestly terrifying for Pro.
Those at the Seats, even if they only managed to get there through achievements alone, were strong enough to beat Named Children without breaking a sweat. If the Seven Shades were comparable to them, then none of them could possibly face them even if they had a battalion of their elite members.
"What should we do, Professor Pro?" One of the researchers along with him asked with nervousness.
He could understand. If this goes on, El Gigante will be defeated. Even if it had some tricks up its sleeve, there was nothing it could do if those elves had weapons that could tear through its platings.
"... Release the other secret weapons! Our men will hold them off while we escape!" He quickly ordered.
The others immediately obeyed him, telling the emotionless Third Children and the obedient Second Children remaining on their side to bring the secret weapons they had stored.
"Also, tell the others to bring all the important documents we have. Then burn the whole facility to the ground before we leave!"
He couldn't afford to let the Shadow Garden know more about their organization. This much should be enough to delay them.
'This is such a blunder! Who would have thought that they could face El Gigante as equals!?'
He was really baffled at this result. El Gigante was supposed to be an ancient secret weapon of the Cult that could contend even against the Demon Spawn. Why was there a weapon capable of cutting through it? He didn't even know how an arrow of any sort could repel its gigantic body!
"Professor Pro, someone is approaching us!"
Pro widened his eyes as he turned to where his subordinate was pointing. There, he could see someone getting closer to them. It was someone dragging a large blade by her side, its tip grinding against the ground with a screeching noise.
"Is that…. the one who killed Gouman!?"
He heard the reports a while ago. They said that a dark haired elf was the one who killed Gouman with ease.
Feeling approaching panic, he quickly told the others.
"Stop her! Stop her now!"
The others quickly brandished the secret weapons they had. Most of them were golden blades with some weird ancient symbols on them, while others were magical wands that seemed to be made of either flesh or bones.
Pro was nervous, but he tried to assure himself that it would be fine. Each of the weapons they had developed were capable of killing even an elite Dark Knight. They thought even the famous Iris Midgar would fall against their esoteric power.
"Quick! Take her out!" He barked out, his voice sounding distorted under his mask.
Those holding the wands pointed them at the approaching elf. Ancient runes appeared around the tips, before shooting glimmering red energies at her. The elf seemed to still be running after them, before seemingly falling on the ground with a skid.
"... Did we get her?" One of them asked in shock.
Though all of them gasped as they saw the elf just standing up before continuing to run towards them.
"What!?" They gawked at the impossibility.
They were sure she was hit by the glimmering energies. Each of them were capable of causing decay, sickness, or other negative ailments to the body. They couldn't understand how was she still standing up and walking towards them without feeling anything.
"No…. she didn't get hit. She fell on the ground deliberately!" Pro exclaimed, before pointing his finger at her. "Shoot her again! This time make sure you actually hit her!"
With his orders, even as the others were feeling skeptical, they decided to shoot her once again. This time, they thought they managed to hit her as the obvious spread of the shimmering light exploded on her figure, and she seemed to have staggered somehow. She even seemed to have fallen on the ground in an awkward manner, causing them to believe they finally got her.
Though their eyes widened in horror as they saw the elf standing up once more and patting her body clad in black without a care in the world. Then she continues moving closer to them.
"No way…. impossible!?"
Pro took a step back, followed by the others who were becoming intimidated.
"This can't be…. I don't care about the important documents anymore. Just burn the facility and let us escape!" He told the others in panic before looking at the other lower tier Children. "Hold her off as long as you can!" He exclaimed.
The other quickly went to the entrance to the facility. Trying to quickly scatter the oil that they had prepared just for this, they threw the torches they had on their hands.
Pro was already running away as they did that along with the other researchers. They planned to spread out so at least one of them can reach another Cult base and report the destruction of their laboratory.
So long as they could keep their life, they could still do their research from scratch. He didn't want to die here now, as he had a lot of things he wanted to do.
"Mhm! I won't let you escape!"
Gamma, barraged by the malevolent magic they kept shooting at her, raised her sword to the sky with ease, before slamming it down on the ground.
"Ooooooryaaaaaaaaa—!"
With that enthusiastic scream, the sword slammed into the ground. The stupendous amount of magic concentrated on that blade caused surroundings to explode, before it split the ground and went straight to their location.
"Aaaaaah!?"
Pro screamed along with others who gasped in surprise, all of them being blown away as the ground split, creating a fissure that went a hundred meters into the distance.
It took awhile before the smoke that resulted from her ground slam dissipated. Showing Gamma who was frowning for a bit.
"... Ah… I destroyed the entrance to their facility and let some of them escape…" She muttered, feeling incredibly ashamed. While that was happening, Beta and Epsilon were busily taking care of El Gigante. Beta took care of distracting El Gigante while Epsilon got closer and struck what can be considered its ligaments or joints with her scythe.
They were chipping at it slowly and carefully, while making sure not to get hit by its electrifying pulse.
The El Gigante seemed to have some tricks up its sleeve, as following its left ankle becoming inoperable, it suddenly turned its head around 360 degrees and its visors blinked red and white.
Epsilon looked up and then widened her eyes as she saw its visor lighting up maliciously, before it quickly shot a devastating crimson ray. The resulting destruction was immense as everything in its vicinity was destroyed. Half the village vanished from existence with its ray.
Then it spun its head while still shooting its ray, its next target being Beta who was trying to take its attention with her arrows.
"Eeep!" Beta couldn't help but let out a surprised gasp before frantically jumping away from the roof.
The whole area itself was being vaporized, the rays destroying everything in its path with their destructive might.
The whole village became a burnt wreck. There was nothing resembling a village here anymore, only the wake of destruction that dug deep into the underground, where hints of pipes and metal that could be assumed to be parts of the secret laboratory below peeking above.
The El Gigante rolled its head around, looking both to the front and behind, up and down, and everywhere else like a spheroid camera.
Then its head locked onto the skies, seeing the two elves it assumed had been evaporated falling from the skies straight onto it with both of their weapons trained in its direction.
"Just drop dead already!" Epsilon yelled as they got closer to its head.
Though El Gigante showed another of its hidden trump cards. Its chest opened up to show multiple pointed objects glinting in the moonlight, directing them in their direction. Then it let out a beeping sound from its head, before the pointed objects shot out.
All of it were pencil-shaped weapons that seemed to be moving through the magical combustion below it. All of them seemed to be smart weapons as they traced their figure and went straight at them.
"Magic tracing!?" Epsilon gasped in surprise.
She quickly deduced what was happening. The large metallic golem acted as the tracer while the magic within this pencil-shaped explosives homed in on where it was locked on.
Epsilon was familiar with that technique. She was doing that sometimes when controlling her slime suit. Controlling bits of slime in the distance so she could change their path and hit dodging enemies. It could only be done as a surprise attack, as it was impractical for continuous usage due to the extensive amount of magical power it used.
It was impractical even for her, though she felt incredibly frustrated as it was possible for this large golem. It boasted a stupendous amount of magical power within. It felt like it was inexhaustible.
"I'll take care of some… then we dodge!" She perked up, hearing Beta say that.
"... Okay!" Epsilon turned to her before nodding.
Then she looked at Beta who charged a huge amount of magic into her arrows, and then with graceful ease, she shot the missiles coming at them.
The pencil-shaped ballistic weaponries were struck by the slime arrows, and then exploded in midair. Showing middling power that might have been dangerous to elite Dark Knights, but was inconsequential to the two of them who could simply block the shockwave of the explosion through the thick magical coating they were pumping into their slime suit.
The explosion obscured their form briefly, before they showed themselves once more. The two of them were moving in a zigzagging pattern, Epsilon being the one who continuously released some of the slime from her suit and turning it into solid footholds.
The silver haired elf continued shooting the remaining missiles that swerved to follow their sudden appearance, destroying them as they exploded midair.
Seeing this, El Gigante's visors blinked red and white once more. Noticing that, Epsilon quickly turned to Beta, and the silver haired elf nodded. Then the two of them separated with a kick for the final slime foothold that she made, avoiding the beam of absolute destruction that was about to hit them.
The crimson beam parted the clouds. The night skies could now be seen clearly. The clouds vanished from the destructive power of the beam.
The large golem beeped once more, detecting a surge of magical power on both of its sides. Those two magical powers revealed themselves to be Beta and Epsilon, who were flanking the giant with both of their weapons trained at him. Beta was getting farther, while Epsilon closed the distance.
Their eyes glowed with a beautiful color as they poured their magic into this single attack. Beta's arrow acquired a luminescent effect that made it flicker with the moonlight, while Epsilon's scythe burned with bluish flames.
"This is my ultimate attack! HELLSCYTHE–!"
"Taste my power! LUMINARY–!"
The two of them have been training for years now. They still remembered what their mistress told them when they were young.
"You definitely need to have an ultimate attack!"
With those words, and after being left to their own devices to learn their own techniques, they have made their own ultimate attacks.
"Shouting your ultimate attack's name is definitely a requirement when using it!"
So even if it was embarrassing for them at the time, they named their ultimate attack. Later, they felt like their magical prowess was becoming more attuned to those attacks as they kept training them. Until they found out that having an ultimate attack actually coincided with strengthening themselves.
So they were now going to proudly use them, as their foe was worthy of it.
El Gigante seemed to have noticed that as its body beeped. Though the two of them grinned, seeing that it couldn't use its electrifying pulse anymore.
It was using a lot of big attacks for a while now. They also noticed that it couldn't use the same trick in quick succession, which meant there was a cool down time for it. It was only because of its ridiculous durability and a lot of tricks within it that they still didn't manage to take it down.
Though with these ultimate attacks, they could surely pierce through its thick metallic plate, and destroy the core deep within its body.
El Gigante changed tactics, and instead spread both of its arms wide, and began to rotate its upper body like a spinning top. Doing so it created a gust of wind as its large metallic arms blurred and went straight towards their forms.
Epsilon and Beta were surprised, but still narrowed their eyes, committed to their attacks.
"--Swi–!?"
"--Sho–!?"
They would have finished their charged attack, if not for the sudden sharp objects that suddenly pierced the head of the El Gigante. Then, another pierced its chest, multiple more pierced parts of its body and limbs.
"MINE!"
The familiar voice of a girl made them freeze, and caused them to fall aimlessly on the skies as they looked in that direction. They saw a log going extremely fast into the golem's body, and the person riding on top of it. A familiar dog therianthrope who looked at the golem with a predatory gaze.
""Delta!?""
It only took a split second of them recognizing her, before the tree log Delta was riding on quickly reached the torso of the giant golem. The tree log easily crashed without managing to harm the golem, though the golem was already tilting anyway due to the sharp objects that had pierced multiple parts of its body.
Delta further worsened its condition after she got to its body. Her eyes widening in excitement as she grinned savagely at it.
"Killing giant prey is Delta's specialty!"
She said as she reeled her clawed gauntlet, before pouring a stupendous amount of magical power into her claws. The dark claws of her violet gauntlets elongated greatly, comically increasing in size. Her purple eyes glowed brightly into red ones.
"Haaaaa!" With a gleeful roar, she struck the torso of the golem with wild abandon.
The sound of metal screaming, and air screeching resounded multiple times as the body of the golem was shredded. Regardless if it was still spinning despite it slowly becoming inoperable, Delta didn't care and destroyed even parts of it that were going to hit her, shredding the body like it was wet paper to her.
Epsilon and Beta landed on the ground. The glowing of their weapons vanished as they looked at the golem who tilted towards the ground, before fully falling flat on its back, creating a huge dust cloud that covered the surroundings.
It was briefly taken care of as Epsilon controlled the wind surrounding them to blow the dust away. Her eyes looked deadpan in the direction where the golem layed, while Beta smiled a bit awkwardly.
"Ugh…. Delta…. she even stole our kill…" She stated with a pout.
"That was embarrassing… I thought I could test my Luminary Shot on something strong." Beta muttered with a shake of her head, before looking contemplative. "By the way, is it just me or did those sharp objects look familiar?"
"Right… it looks like giant teeth… though, I wonder if we encountered someone who had those…?" Epsilon responded, recalling those sharp objects that pierced the golem with ease.
While they were thinking about that, they heard the sound of footsteps approaching them. Turning in that direction, the footsteps quickly revealed Delta, gripping a very large crystal that seemed to have been broken and was definitely inactive.
"Look, Delta got something big!" She said, showing them the large broken crystal orb she had.
"..." The two of them could only sigh.
The crystal orb might be useful, but it was still a bit frustrating to have Delta suddenly steal the show. They couldn't really say that though as she honestly looked happy, her tail wagging and all.
"Well…. it seems like everything is done now…" Epsilon said as she looked around.
The scattered dust uncovered the destruction around them. It was obvious that there was nothing for them to get here anymore.
"Well, let's go and meet up with Gamma. I'm sure she is also done with her own thing." Epsilon simply said, and the two nodded at her.
"Hehehe! I wonder if Boss Lady will praise me?~" Delta stated happily, making the expression of both elves to cramp for a bit. Hearing her words makes me feel… I don't know… happy? Surprised?
She said that seriously, while getting here and even playing along with me despite us facing some random monster.
Well, the monster is surprisingly strong, but it can easily be defeated if I take this a little seriously.
Though, Alpha really wants to help me with my goals?
Didn't she abandon me three years ago?
I thought they didn't want to pursue becoming an Eminence in Shadow, and were only humoring me because I saved them.
But well… I really don't know what I should feel right now.
I can't lie and say I don't feel anything. In fact, I'm incredibly delighted to hear Alpha say that. It means someone actually understands me, or I think it is what she is implying.
Though, the way she worded it…. it sounds like that of a heroine….
It feels like if I accepted her words as it is, I might just forget why I am even doing this. I might even become a protagonist at this rate if I just nod at her words and accept it as it is.
It can't be. I should show Alpha what she needs to do if she truly wants to be a shadowbroker like me.
And to do that, she has to forget those heroine sounding words!
I can finish this battle as quickly as possible, but I have to make this as dramatic as possible.
Let me show you Alpha, how a true Power in the Shadow acts!
Sorry for the long wait. This chapter is pretty long that it took a long time...
