[X] Try and hide the creature.
You could wait and see who was coming, but you had no idea if they were gonna be willing to talk at all, or how they would react to your looks. Whatever this creature was, they seemed to be terrified for their life, and who knows what might happen once whoever is searching finds them. The soft whimpers coming from your back helped in making a choice quick.
You crouched a bit, grabed the reature by the legs and ran as fast as you could.
Your choice seemed to take the creature by surprise given how much strenght they applied to their grip on you but that was okay, you hoped they did that as to not fall off. It kind of hurt though. Can your body hurt? You don't remember. Regardless you ran, almost falling over a few times this being the first time you ran with this body, carrying an added weigh, and not being used to running
so fast!! Seriously, you've never ran this fast before, probably due to your current body being stronger or faster or something. Doesn't matter right now. After a good minute of running you did a sharp turn and headed in the direction of an old treehouse. Crystals were growing all over the place, which was perfect actually.
Jumping to the entrance of the house, again surprising yourelf, you closed the door as good as it could and settled down.
*whine...*
Turning back there was the creature, eyes filled with fear and slightly trembling.
"Do... Don't worry... we, you a... you're safe now..." You said in between breaths. It was tiring, but this place would hide them well you were sure. For extra safety you pushed one of the crystals that seemed semi-loose compared to the rest and blocked the door in place. Still slightly open but that was the best you could do, also it would let you see outside. The crystals here seemed to have the same colors as you, which should help with blending in given that no one takes a close look here.
The creature's eyes were still fearful but you gave it the best smile you could. Moving your hands up but not too close, and pointing them to sit down. Apparently gtting your message they finally let go of you and fell flat on the floor, the cracking sounds scaring them again.
"It's okay... it's just wood. Sit down, slowly. Just, slow." You said gsturing with your hands again. You had no idea if they understood you or just understood your hand movements but they sat down carefuly this time.
Looking around the treehouse... it had crystals growing around, as everywhere else you saw. These ones were smaller, but had no pointy ends so no crystal spikes. These crystals were pretty neat, and looked like they could snap with enough force. The one you used to trap the door was half broken already, and looking at it you found the reason. Other crystals were growing and starting to dig into the former one, cracking it in a clean manner. They were neat.
Your companion seemed to be interested in the crystals as well, or maybe it was just looking at were you were looking, giving the head tilt after you faced them. Taking a better look, you saw that they were skinny, but not in a bony way. The biggest parts seemed to be their claws and feet or paws or however those are called. Bandaged all over, some of these bandages looked more new than the rest.
"Um, hello. Can you understand me?"
"..."
No answer. "Do you speak?"
"..."
No answer again. "Do you... make sound?"
"..."
...
*nnn~*
Well they can make sound. Though you're not sure if they understand you at all or not. Actually... do they have a mouth? Their whole face... head seems to be covered in bandages and that bone mask. Their eyes give the impression of waiting for something to happen. Well, they may or may not understand you but you'll at leastr try to have a conversation.
*Cough-cough* "So... I'm Angel." you say pointing at yourself. "You are...?" And you point at them.
"..."
As expected, no answer. Well, you'll still talk to them. To make them feel safe at least.
"I'm new here. Well, new everywhere. I was exploring when you bumped into me." As you talk you move your arms around to try to express yourself more, hoping they understand what you are talking about. "... you were scared, right? They were chasing you?"
"..."
"... did they hurt you?"
"..."
Despite the lack of words you can see them lowering their gaze t their body. At their bandages. Now that you look at them, some are a bit torn off, looking closely it seems like... darkness is coming out of them. It sounds weird but there's no other way ot saying it It's as if that part of the body was pith black and had some bits of that total dark coming out like embers of a fire, only to dissapear quickly. You don't know if it is bad, but if the ained expression of their eyes means anything it must hurt.
If so much of them is covered in bandages, then that means...
"Hey, can I look at your arms?"
"...?"
"Your arms." You say, pointing at them, doing a pulling motion in regards to the clothes they're wearing. "Are they okay?"
"..."
Their eyes seem worried, and they do nothing. You were about to ask something else when they slowly pulled up the oversized sleeves.
The arms were just one big claw. The arm was bandaged up to the forearm in patches, showing bits of dark purple/grey fur. When it reached the elbow it changed to a black mechanic skeleton of an arm. It was... as long as a normal arm when you look up to the 'palm', but after that the claws were as long as half a forearm. They closed and opened them slowly, extending and retracting the black forearm a bit to make the arm look longer and shorter.
Looking at their face their eyes were scared once again. They were looking directly at yours.
"... wow..."
You moved a little closer with actually startled them, eyes wide as they tried to get back but hit the wall rather quickly. You slowly poked their claw with one finger. Sure, your hands also had claws, but they were nothing like these. It seemed pretty smoth, it shined slightly with the little light that came inside.
Slowly, you pick up their hand, and place it between yours.
"It's fine... I'm not scared." You say, their eyes still wide with shock. "It's kind of cool, also pretty actually." Slowly you placed their hand back down and sat a bit back to give them a bit of space. You were smiling at them, not a big smile, but just a normal one. You have to show them that you mean no harm and aren't scared of them. That feels like the right thing to do.
"Ah! Before I forget..." You close in again, making them tremble slightly but they don't try to get away again. "I'm sorry for this, but I believe it can help." You say as you tear up a shred of their sleve.
Inmediatly they crawl away, covering themselves with their arms and shaking.
"No! Wait! I'm not gonna hurt you or anything! Your wound! Here!" You say pointing strongly with one hand at the area where the darkness is leaking. After a bit they look down at the area with the damaged bandages, then back at you, holding the piece of cloth to show how long it is. You roll it loseely around your arm to show what you want to do.
At first you think they won't let you get near, but to your surprise they actually come close to you. Despite the lack of words, you can clearly see confusion in their eyes, some fear, but also a tiny bit of hope.
"This may hurt a bit?" You say as you start to apply the make-shift bandage around the area of their torso where the wound is.
*whiiinnnee...*
They jerk a bit as you make the cloth tighter around the area, until you finish by making a knot.
"... well, hopefully that helps a bit."
Aftewards you retreat back to the part with the wall with less crystals and sit with your back against it. You could leave now, but leaving them alone sounds like a bad idea, speially since whoever was there is still probably looking for them. You hope they didn't saw you. They shouldn't have, probably. You never saw them so it may be the same for them.
You'll wait a bit, maybe an hour or so, just to be sure that your companion can walk around well and go off on their own.
Without much to do you decide that you may as well listen to some music. You're pretty much a walking bunny shaped super-MP3. As soon as you're about to press the mental button to play music you realize that it probably isn't a good idea to blast some loud sounds. You think hard about lowering your speakers volumes hoping it works, and behold, your visor is showing a decreasing circle that probably means that you lowered your own volume.
That done, you check your satchel, just now remembering that you have it, and ick out your tablet. Folder is still empty, map... oh, seems like you mapped out quite a bit of the place. There's this long line going from where you are to the more open area of the map. Apparently you ran quite a lot. You're sure that the map isn't complete yet.
Ethernet... nothing. Music has your whole playlist, can you connect it to-

-yourself...
*Sigh* Whatever, you pick your cheeck speakers and search through your list.
As you do so some light starts coming in from the tiny opening of the door, hitting the crystals and subsequently passing through it to multiple of the others, making tiny dots and lines of light that fill the place. It's pretty. You finally settle on a nice short tune you listen from time to time and will it to play.
The music soon starts catching your companion by surprise. You laugh a bit and point to your cheeks, not sure if they will understand or not. Regardless you just lay back and relax. Breathing slowly, taking in the atmosphere, you close your eyes and let the music surround you.
You're just gonna rest for a bit...
You wake up...
[] At noon, sun is high in the sky. You hear some very young cheerful voices some distance away.
[] At the afternoon, orange sky and violet clouds slowly float by. All is silent but the wind and some birds.
... you also hear someone snoring by your side and feel a weigh on your shoulder.
Apologies for the really late update. For some reason I always end up writing more this late at night.
Anyways the 20 roll before made it so nothing bad happened in the getaway at the start. Low rolls woull've lead to failure in different ways, one of them confrontation.
Anyways hope the chapter was okay. Feel free to say whatever you want about this quest by the by, like it, hate it, just a "meh", speculations, questions, whatever!
As for vote, not much to say here. Choose a time to wake up. Choices will start having more meaning by the by.
