Well, if you were to ask me, I'd tell you that I voted for the cure not because it would be "better", but because it seems to me that this is what the quest protagonist would do (as little as I know about him, anyway). And because it would open up a lot of interesting possibilities, outside of "Just Divide Zero at it".
For example, do you, people, recall that person who set up a time limit for Thoma, and his reasons? What would he say if he saw Thoma cured of the Eclipse, or just it's symptoms? That is, assuming the cure worked in the first place. If it doesn't, there's no loss except for a few minutes and some MP.

[]If she can cure the Eclipse, then ask her to do so.

[]...it would be great to be cured, but for the time being we still need the power of the Eclipse.

The canon plot of this game has a whole 'nother disc or so after the scenario that you just completed.
However, you also just completely and totally broke that very same plot and rendered it impossible.... so, yeah, the Deville situation is pretty much the only loose end in this world for you guys to tie up.
You should. I've only played most of the spin-off of the former (Xenoblade X Chronicles) and seen half of the latter so far as an LP, but they're both amazing.
Yeah, I know. You really should try Xenoblade X though (if the whole "Wii U" aspect isn't an issue). It's probably the closest thing out there to an open world Gundam RPG.

FrenchFroodle is a LPer I recommend that is doing it. Or did it. She has a... bit of a backlog that hasn't been posted on her youtube archive yet for a lot of games.
Anyway, I recommend her if you don't want to or can't play it for one reason or another. Her video's are pretty big though so you might need to refresh part way through a video so as not to tax your computer to hard. Had a problem with that until I cleaned out my fan, boy was that overdue.
And honestly, I think it would really fit pretty well with both helping people out in a way that definitely fits with the Nanoha setting and powers and... and... I forgot my second point. Goddammit brain.
Xenoblade X does it with an open world, including the ability to fly anywhere, without being a glitchfest (Bethesda could seriously learn a thing or two from MonolithSoft.........), and real time combat, including the ability to hop in and out of a mecha in the middle of battle. Having a strong story is also a very big plus.
After several seconds of contemplation, Thoma shook his head. "As much as I'd love to get rid of this stupid Eclipse virus... I can't back out of this incident now. I've gotten too deeply involved with it. So for now, I still need its power."
The SeeDs nodded in understanding, while Vita raised an eyebrow in Thoma's direction. Again? Why do you keep bringing up strength and power? You didn't seem too concerned about it in the past....
"...but, I'd also like to ask a big favor from you guys."
Laguna crossed his arms with a nod. "Sure thing, kid. Whatcha need?"
Glancing at Lily for a moment, and seeming to firm his resolve in doing so, Thoma swallowed. "...I can't really think of a way to say this without sounding weak or pathetic, but.... you guys are professional soldiers, right? If you can spare the time, I'd.... I'd like some help with my fighting skills."
On being met with silence for a few seconds, he admitted, "They're, um.... kind of bad. Especially in close-range. Which is what most of the guys we're trying to stop specialize in."
Most of the assembled veteran combatants glance at each other with varying degrees of amusement, before Squall rests his head in his palm with a sigh. "....meet me out in the Salt Flats in about three hours, and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, the rest of us still have some loose ends that need tying up."
Thoma and Lily glanced at Vita, who nodded. "The rest of this probably won't concern you, so go have some fun or something in the city." I didn't plan or expect for you to end up killing someone, and I'm sorry for how that ended up happening.
The teens glanced at each other in surprise, as if unable to believe what their First Lt. was saying. Lily, is the First Lt.... giving us time off?
It.... sounds like it, as far as I can tell...
Their hesitation causing her some small amount of annoyance, Vita snapped, "Well?! Go on! Just do us all a favor and stay out of trouble!" Until we have the time to help you deal with that, just... go do something to help try and take your mind off of things.
Lily nodded and eagerly began dragging her partner toward the door by his arm. "I know how we can pass the time, Thoma! Let's --"
