Ok, you can do this, just explain that you're new in town and just want to get to know the place and sadly can't go with them.
You can do it.
"I-" You start as firmly as you can.
"Yes!?" They respond with great anticipation in their voice.
Just say no, just say no.
"-will go!"
You fail.
"Great!" They raise their hand in victory and then move towards the cells, keys in hand.
"Ok guys you can go now, I hope you have reflected on your actions and ain't doing anything so dumb again!" Law says while opening the cells.
The only answers they get are grumblings and complains about how bright is outside.
"You sure is a good idea to leave them go?" You ask a little worried.
"Hmmm?" Law just look at your direction and tilt their head to the side, "Oh sure, they didn't anything too dangerous, just your typical drunk stupidity, y'know?" They close the last door as they start counting all the different crimes the inmates did last night with their hand, "running around naked, yelling profanities at public figures, bad singing, a small bar brawl. Though I'm not sure the last one counts, the Smallbreak isn't technically a bar, sure they have beer but nothing else, though I hear they're looking to expand." They finish in a tangent.
You're more focus on last night activities though, "What the hell happened last night?" You can't help but ask.
"Oh, it was a great party of celebration! You see, apparently, both a cow rancher and farmer are coming to the area soon. That means fresh meat and milk and cheese! And not having to depend so much in the supplies that we get from Red Bay!" They explain in excitement.
"Hmmm, I see." You nod in understanding, for a new small town like this, that does sound like something worth celebrating.
"Well!" They clap with a smile in their face, "time to go for Justice!"
"Huh?"
***
"...So, you named your horse Justice?" You ask in front of the stable.
"Yup."
Law is happily giving a carrot to a big and strong looking horse. It has white fur, no surprise here, with a black short mane and tail.
"She was with gifted to me the day of my rename and I got to pick her name!" They explain while petting the horse's neck, carrot already devoured.
"Day of rename?" You ask in curiosity.
"Is the day when you're accepted in the Justicar Order as a student," Law answers you without stopping their petting, "well, time to go, hup!"
They take impulse using the foothold on the saddle and land on top of Justice.
"Ok, now is your turn!" They say expectantly.
…
…
"Huh!?" You exclaim in confusion, "m-me!?"
"Yeah, come here partner," they say while patting the space behind them, "or do you a horse of your own?"
"No…" you answer reluctantly.
"Then come here!" Law pats the space behind them once again.

You feel quite embarrassed right now. It has been a couple of hours since you left town, it would have been faster but you almost fall down when the horse started to run so Law made it go slower for you. They have tried to start a conversation with you a few times but you were too distracted trying to not fall from the back of the horse and not hold too tightly to Law.
You hate this, you spent so much time with just your mother and the occasional spirit that talking with other people is always a huge ordeal.
Are you saying the right thing? Will they be angry? Should you be asking this?
That kind of questions always plagues your mind when talking with a stranger.
Maybe you shouldn't have come to this town, maybe it would have been better if you just stay-
"There it is!"
Your thoughts are fortunately interrupted by Law's voice.
In the distance, you could see it. Some buildings surrounded by a big stone wall and the faint echo of rocks breaking, you could see many workers moving around under the sun with their helmets on, a pickaxe over the shoulders of ones, cars full of crystals being move over rails by others, and near the entrance there is someone waiting.
He is somewhat short, a little on the heavy side with some white hairs in his otherwise orange hair and he has quite the collection of jewels all over his person.
"Ah, Sheriff Law! So nice to see you again! And you brought some company, no doubt relate to my little problem, right? Excellent, excellent!" The elf welcomes us.
"Nice to see you again, Mister Gresys," Law says, without the usual cheerfulness that you have witnessed thus far, as they dismounts their horse.
"Need some help?" They do turn to you with a little worry in their voice.
"N-no is fine," you answer as you start dismounting too, slowly.
"Right, Mister Gresys this is Agis, he gracefully accepted to help us with your problem, Agis this is Gal Gresys, the owner of the Crimson Mining Company." Law presents each other.
"Don't need to be so formal dear! You can just call me Gal, young man!" He says while using both of hands to shake yours.
"Nice to meet you… Mister Gal?" You respond, trying to keep some distance.
"A drow to help with a spirit problem. Truly I'm quite fortunate! Hahahaha." They laugh while holding his belly.
"Right, think you could let us to the problem?" Law asks impatiently, it seems like they don't like to be at the presence of this elf.
"Of course, of course. Frederick, please let that young sheriff's horse to our stable while I let our friends to our small problem." Gal tells one of the workers that were nearby.
"Right away sir!" The worker quickly takes Justice's reins and start walking to someplace inside the walls.
"Ok then, please follow me," Gal says while walking towards to the entrance of one of the tunnels that don't have anybody around.
Though before going, you turn to Law, who is glaring at Gal's back, and ask in a low voice, "are you alright?"
"Huh?" They startle for a second, "Yeah, yeah I'm fine, sorry to worry you, partner! I just forgot how much I don't like people like him, don't like to think too much about it. Let's just finish this fast so I can invite you some food at Lisa's place!" They finish with a smile, though it feels a little force.
"Right," you simply nod.
…
"Wait, that isn't my reward, right!?"
"Hahahahaha!"
That laugh feels more natural.

"Well, the problem started a few days ago while we were digging this new tunnel," Mister Gresys start explaining after we all stop in from of the abandoned tunnel, "everything was going according to plan when suddenly, the miners inside start yelling! Asking for help or simply because of pain, then just as fast all was silence." He takes a break to dry the sweat that had formed on his forehead with a handkerchief.
"We tried sending more people of course, but from the last group only one came out, he went on and on about some kind of horrible beast with giant fangs before dying the next day. After that, I send to call for our dear sheriff." Mister Gresys finishes his explanation.
"So, what do you think we should do Agis?" Law asks you immediately, no doubt seeing you as the expert for this situation.
"Before doing anything else, how deep down does this tunnel goes?" You ask somewhat worried while looking at the tunnel, you could feel your face turning slightly pale. At least the rune circuits inside are working and the place has some lights.
"Oh? Not that deep, unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to go deeper underground before the attacks started, why do you ask?"
You feel a weigh leaving your shoulders, "Let's just say that drow don't mix well with the underground."
[] Go inside with Law, this is the more direct approach, just entering and hoping to solve the problem directly. In one hand, having Law could help you with any problem you find, on the other hand, some spirits of the land really don't like elves.
[] Go inside alone, if the spirit has a grudge against elves then you going alone could help to keep it calm. On the other hand, if it's hostile no matter what, then you will be alone with it.
[] Summon a bear spirit and send it inside the cave so you can see through its eyes. Sure you're not putting yourself in risk, but the spirit could interpret it as an attack leaving you no a possibility for a peaceful resolution.

Curiously, had you choose the Justicar the MC would be more outgoing but more ignorant of the land. And of course here wouldn't be Law.
