The Spirit of Humanity

[X] Due to the cultists. They revealed themselves declaring that they wished to bring humanity into a new age. Most were not convinced, but they were eventually "persuaded". The few that were unaffected could observe the unholy ritual in it's entirety. It is unknown if they failed or succeeded, but for a single instant, t̯̬ͫ̈́́h̴̬͇̟͚͑̽ͩe̪͙͙̲̮̗̹̔̽ͨ̈́́ŷ̈̈͏̪̗ were here. And then everyone was gone, only the remains of the ritual left. (Mostly Magical Development), +???

[x] Due to the miracle particle. It was dicovered in a laboratory and showed extremely unusual effects, bending what was thought possible in the past. It eventually began to be used all around the world, being utilized for its miraculous effects in all parts of society. What we didn't know, however, was that it was a lure for something we couldn't understand. Eventually, masses of them came down from the skies and devoured everything in their path. When there was no more to be found, they left, leaving behind only scattered remains of civilization. (Half Technological, Half Magical Development), +???

(Somewhat) Magic here we go!

[X] Due to those damn crystals. The moment we discovered them we were doomed. We thought them to be the key to the future, offering limitless free power and new amazing technologies. They began to infects us, however, turning humans in something ...different, into shambling creatures with crystal cancers that only wished to spread it. We were lucky they eventually died under their own crystaline bodies, leaving macabre statues in their place. (Mostly Technological Development), +???

Wait, are you sure? That's not how @Negation tally reads. It looks like miracle particle ties with Xenos, but Crystal Zombies win.

Sorry, I didn't see that before and it appears that I counted wrong. But I think I will keep the voting open for a bit more anyways, even if I close it now I wont have time to write new chapter until nighttime

[x] Due to the xenos. When they came, we almost couldn't believe. They were proof we were not alone! They brought with them gifts and talks of peace. We believed them until their main fleet arrieved. That had been only a distraction tactic. We tried to resist initially, but when they atomized Paris, most gave up and were harvested. Karma eventually came for them though, and they disapeared overnight, leaving only relics of their presence. (Mostly Technological Development), +???

If we're not forced into two options as the vote is still open then I return to aliens.
Edit: Changed vote.

I wish I could take a xenos, particle, cristals option.

Just because you choose an option, there is no reason something similar couldn't exist or happen in the future, just to a lesser extent. For exemple, there will always be cultists or people that believe in ritualistic magic, perhaps just not to the extent it would have if you had chosen that option.

Voting results #2
It appears there was a tie between the crystaline zombies and the miraculous particle, this time for real, with both getting 12 votes. I will use a random number generator to decide the winner. 1 will be the Miracle Particle and 2 will be the zombies.

Edit: Miracle Particles won, congratulations to those that had chosen it!
Mossr threw 1 2-faced dice. Reason: tie Total: 1

How the World Ended
It was all due to those miraculous particles. They were discovered near the end of the 21th century, in a remote laboratory in northern Siberia. The scientists that first found them being shocked by their unusual behaviour and characteristics, being able to interact with energy and matter in extremely interesting ways and being apparently able to be controlled by the thoughts and emotions of people.

It was quickly shared with the international scientific community at large, generating a frenzy of studies and experiments, leading to the creation of several new inovations and the discovery that they didn't show any adverse effects in human beings or living beings in general. It was the opposite in fact, with large concentrations of this particles encouraging the safe growth of life.

It took some years, but they were eventually incorporated into various aspects of society, with it's practically endless applications and uses. They were also given a name, Orphic particles, though some of the more nerdy scientists suggested names like Mana, Aether and others such as this.

For a time, a quite long time in fact, everything was fine and society was flourishing under this new discovery and it was thought that our species had reached a new golden era in their history. But then, They came.

You remembered those aliens beasts. They came down from the skies all around the world at roughly the same time, being undetected until it was too late. Many of the surviving scientists theorized they somehow teleported just outside the atmosphere of our planet. They were incredible resilient to our weapons, being only lightly injured by a direct missile impact.

Regardless, their first targets were our constructs most rich in Orphic particles, essentially all of our advanced technology. This act alone crippled global communication and the situation got worse from there. In only 5 months they had destroyed the majority of human civilization, with the only good thing beings that these monsters only seemed to be able to sense the Orphic particles, not having any other senses.

Scattered bands of survivors used this knowledge to survive and hide, and it was like this that the human species managed to survive for hundreds of years, being forced to scurry like rats in their own homeworld. However, roughly two hundred years before you were before born, all the creatures still on the planet left suddenly.

This finally gave humans the chance they needed to begin to organize themselves again, with your tribe being a prime exemple of this. However, the beasts left something behind in their wake that continues to be a danger even now, that being hideous crossbredings with the native animals of Earth, leading to the creations of species of animals that have the same characteristics of the star beasts, though much, much weaker.

All this information left you with a conundrum, should you incetivize the future human civilization to use again those Orphic particles? It was theorized by some of the surviving scientists that the only reason the creatures were attracted to our planet was because we reached a "critical mass" in the usage of the particles. It seems humans will need to either hide their usage of these particles, manage to somehow fight the beasts, of limit the usage of them.

Regardless, that is a problem for the future, and you have more urgent problems now, like deciding how to lead this scattered tribe into the future of humanity.

Hello, this is the final 'prologue' chapter before the beginnings of the turns itself. I will try to upload the first turn tonight yet, but I decided to give you a glimpe of the traits you got due to the past choices:

[People of The Desert]: Your ancestors traveled through the rough sands of the desert for years before they decided to settle among the margins of a great river. This great journey has made your people more resilient, both in mind and body, and made them more accepting of change, for one must know that the dunes of the desert are everchanging, and so must we be in order to find our way.
+Resilience
+Adaptability

[The Greatest River]: Your tribe lives along the margins of the greatest rivers you have ever seen and one of the greatest in whole world, though you still don't know that. It brings with it a great boon to agriculture due to it's cyclical changes around the year, along side with influencing your people to be better mathematicians and time keepers in order to be accurate in predicting it's changes.
++Agriculture
+Mathematics

[Witnesses of the Greats]: Near where you tribe lives are enigmatics exemples of the greatness of the Ancients:
Three vast and gigantic pyramids of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose strange,
And animal face, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those talents read.

The bizzare notion of these creations baffle the tribe but also inspire it's engineers, architects and artists, that seek to replicate the grandeur of the Ancients.
++Construction
+Art
+???

[Descendants of an Unfair Fight]: Although the records of the end times are full of mystical adaptations and exagerations, they still depict the unfair conditions of the fight; we didn't know they were coming and had no weapons and defense against them. The often simple bedtime stories that tell these tales have engraved into our people this memory, with the consequences of this being mysterious and unpredictable.
++???
+???
+???

Sounds like a tyrannid expy was attracted to our planet because of these particles, and they left as soon as there was a lack of it.

Doubling down on agriculture for the sake of ensuring at least one problem is more than handled, freeing us up to focus our attention elsewhere. Mathematics will help with trade, and with the essential to engineering sub-catagory of measurements.

This isn't a vote . These are simply the Traits you guys got from the previous choices

Turn 1 - Rough Beginnings
Date: Unknown
Location: Along the margins of the Nile

You counseled with the few elders of the tribe that were not against your leadership and were able to get a very rough idea of the present situation of the tribe:

It seems there was a grave lack of food due to unpredictable weather the previous year.

There was a distinct lack of both quantity and quality of shelter in the tribe, with the majority of people sleeping in crowded mud huts and resting directily on the floor.

People were also complaining about the lack of entertainment, with the only thing they could do to stave of boredom being working, sleeping or ...increasing the population.

The biggest problem for you however, was the major lack of support from the rest of the people of power in the tribe, with only around 30% of them supporting you.

As you looked at this information, you had to curse your father. He was a good man and did a good job in stabilizing the the situation, but he had absolutely no administrative ability.

Regardless, you had work to do and problems to solve.

Resources

Materials: 100 (+100 per turn) (Materials are the accumulation of all the material possesions of the tribe, abstracted in order to not give me a headache)

Morale: 40 / 100 (Morale is a very important thing to keep in mind, with particularly low amounts possibly leading to negative events, and if morale ever reaches 0 you will be deposed, so be careful)

Support: 30 / 100 (This is a temporary resource and you need to get it to at least 90 in 10 turns or you will be deposed. It is the representation of the support from the people in power in the tribe)

Manpower: 3 (Each point of manpower is roughly 100 able bodied people in condition to work. It is also the number of actions you can take per turn, at least for now)

Actions
- Engineering:

[] - Mud Is So Last Century
Your people are living in cramped houses and sleeping on the floor. This is absolutely unacceptable. These are not the conditions the ancestors of a great human civilization should be living. You must change that. Assign some workers on that and hopefully make your people happier.
Duration - 1 turn
Cost - 30 Material
Reward - +Morale, +Support and New Engineering Actions

[] - It's The Stone Age, Baby!
Your people have considerable knowledge of constructing things in general, at least for your technological level. You should invest in that. It will give you considerable advantages in the future. The creation of a group of workers dedicated only to these acts of creation will be essential to this purpose and will help to the construction of new projects.
Duration - 2 turns
Cost - 10 Material
Reward - 1 Free Engineering Action

- Agriculture:

[] - Food Out Of The Ground? That's Wild
Your people are going hungry due to the unpredictability of nature. That can't stand. Send some people to investigate the margins of the Great River, search for spots more suitable to growing food and investigate new alternatives.
Duration - 1 turn
Cost - 20 Material
Reward - +Food, +Morale, +Support and New Agriculture Actions

[] - It's The Stone Wheat Age, Baby!
Your iniciative with the engineering group has inspired you. Your people also have an extensive ammount of ability in regards to agriculture, and investing in that could have great benefits in the future. It will also allow you to be more efficient in realization of your proposals, allowing more of them to be made in a shorter time.
Duration - 2 turns
Cost - 10 Material
Reward - 1 Free Agriculture Action

- Culture

[] - Turn On The (Metaphorical) TV
Your people are bored. And while that is great in order to ...increase the workforce, it also negatively impacts morale. You can change that by organising small performances, songs and whatever else you may think of in order to entertain them. You could make use of some of your scattered knowledge of the old world to help them be more entertaining.
Duration - 1 turn
Cost - 20 Material
Reward - ++Morale, +Support and New Culture Actions

- Learning

[] - Assembling The Heads
Your people are too desorganized in order to perform any research. If you want to invent new things and generate new ideas, you will need first to organize the greatest thinkers of the tribe, make them work together and convince them to share their knowledge. Easy.
Duration - 1 turn
Cost - 10 Material and your patience
Reward - New Learning Actions and a headache(Is that a reward?)

- Military

[] - Arming The Bow (That We Don't Have)
Your people are utterly defenceless, with their only military force being a couple of hunters with stones and their only defence against the outside world being the shaky mud walls of their home and eachother. Naturally, this situation is not very favorable, and we need to do something about it. Unfortunately, without an organized force, nothing can be done. So organize them.
Duration - 1 turn
Cost - 20 Material
Reward - Organized Defence Group, and New Military Actions
