The Shyish Student (An Amethyst Apprentice in Hogwarts) [Warhammer Fantasy/Harry Potter]

@Oksbad is this an acceptable plan format for you?

[X] Plan: A Strong Foundation
  • [Priority]
    • [DD] Hogwarts Academics – Local spellwork and knowledge, doing better in classes
    • Matters of Faith – More time for Morr
  • [Normal]
    • The Lore of Death – Learning the spells of the Amethyst College
    • Independent Study – Includes investigating ectoplasm, Classical, ghosts etc
    • Sleep
  • [Less]
    • Socialisation – Bonding and better getting to know your fellow students
My logic for this plan is that giving up on sleep (and especially doubling down on that) will likely lead to some maluses on our rolls. Doing a little less socialization, on the other hand, will slow down the development of our bonds a little but won't have any long term effects. We might start getting staff attention if we double down and become completely antisocial to focus purely on knowledge, however.

Therefore, I suggest we focus more on the our foundation for the next few plans by building up our knowledge and capabilities in the local magic (those have been giving lots of good bonuses even at the novice level!), as well as shoring up our lack of knowledge about what being a Priest of Morr entails.

We will still of course study the lore of death and our independent studies, but less progress will be made on those advanced subjects in favor of building a stronger foundation first.

I'd rather not have less sleep, especially not on an academics-focused plan - you do not learn as well when running on empty. Or much at all, really.

My thoughts exactly! Both my joke plan and my actual plan do not cut on sleep for that exact reason.

Could I convince you to send a vote for [X] Plan: A Strong Foundation when the Moratorium ends?

This is a valid vote, though no need to specify "Normal" -- that's the default.

Frankly all of these seem pretty important, so I'm not inclined to cut back on anything. I do want to prioritise Independent study, but for the second I'm more ambivalent.
Snape being downright helpful there.
"Don't experiment randomly like you might want to, because that's incredibly dangerous. This is the name of a book containing information that might help you better understand what you're trying to do so you don't accidentally kill yourself."
But, you know, in Snape-ish.
Not just that, he explicitly gave Zagreus permission to come back and bother him for more help once we've fully comprehended the book.

Would remind that:
-If you sacrifice sleep when nothing urgent is going on, that means you go into crisis turns tired. Tired wizards miscast.
-Socialization should be a priority in the earlier years, you can't just 'make friends later', the cliques would have stabilized with you as the weirdo outsider.

E: Oh moratorium over

[X] Plan Readying for the End of Year Showdown
-[X] [Priority] The Lore of Death – Learning the spells of the Amethyst College
-[X] [Priority] Socialisation – Bonding and better getting to know your fellow students

Reasoning being that being involved in the end of year throwdown with Quirrelmort would require socialization so our friends actually let us know when shit is going down, and Lore of Death because it really is just better for fighting things you intend to kill.

Probably unsure if Zagreus will study the Dao of potions.

[X] Plan Feather Light
-[X] [Priority] The Lore of Death
-[X] [Priority] Socialization
-[X] [Lesser] Hogwarts Academics
-[X] [Lesser] Independent Studies

-Zagreus, quoting the Book of Doorways, after he finds out the truth about Quirrelmort*
*assuming that he does find out the truth and doesn't remain forever oblivious

I'm horribly amused by the (extremely unlikely) possibility that Zagroose just... goes through the entire quest without ever figuring out more about what was going on with Quirrell in particular and Voldemort in general, and the remaining plot of HP just goes by like this to him-

putting less work into something Is optional, if you want to do more then the default two priorities.

Also Oksbad Is it one lesser, for each extra priority up to two, Or one less one lesser for two more priorities. Since I see plans doing both versions.

[X] Plan Feather Light without Lesser Priorities
-[X] [Priority] The Lore of Death
-[X] [Priority] Socialization

I would like to see more social actions with new people.

Frankly I doubt fighting him ourself would go well no matter how much we study, the gap is just too wide in first year. We'd be better off focusing on Morr and our study into spirits. I have an image in my head of casting magic weapon on Sir Nicholas and having him go to town on Quirreldemort with an empowered ghostly sword.

Edit: also I just really like Zag's relationship with Morr in this quest, so exploring it more is always a win.

[X] Plan Relying on Out of Context
-[X] [Priority] Independent Study – Includes investigating ectoplasm, Classical, ghosts etc
-[X] [Priority] Matters of Faith – More time for Morr

We literally picked delay to learn classical to do it good and proper. So let's not sleep on independent study. Morr's favour can be taken away as easily as it was given.

All I want is to extract sweet sweet point from professor Snape so anything with double Hogwarts study.

Sacrificing sleep, mechanically, will likely result in a malus applied to all actions in some way. I don't think it's worth it.
