When I wake up, I find myself in the body of a stranger. The stranger's name is Xiu Bai. If my new memories can be trusted, I think the name meant something incredible, but I can't recall it clearly.
Not like I will understand, because originally I'm a Japanese citizen. I mostly consume Japanese media, and haven't bothered learning about the meaning of names on China.
As to this world, it seems like it is mostly dominated with a pseudo-chinese culture straight from a fantastical setting. There is this thing they called "Cultivation" and something about going on a path of immortality or something. It might be the same thing, but I really don't know.
The world is also incredibly large. Just the city that Xiu Bai originated spans a few thousands of li. I vaguely know that li is a measurement of distance, though I don't know specifically how long it is.
As for where I woke up to, I am in the middle of the forest. My current body is bloodied, and my clothes are covered in dirt and blood. I look incredibly pitiful.
Based on Xiu Bai's memories, it seems like she stole something from a Cultivator, and then she has been killed by that cultivator's men. As to what she stole, it is a spiritual stone that is said to turn a mortal into a cultivator. It seems like Xiu Bai wanted to be a cultivator so much that she tried to steal it to a random person.
I don't even like her reason of why she wanted to be a cultivator. Her whole reason was that she was unsatisfied being a cook in a small pavilion. She didn't want to be just a normal person on the background.
If it was me, I would stay like that. I would have a stable life, and I wouldn't be bothered that much by many people. Only those who worked in the kitchen are the ones who could talk to me, which is still preferable to talking to the customers themselves.
In my past life, I was a shut-in due to some really embarrassing reason. It's a stupid reason, so there is no need to talk about it.
Anyway, I prefer a life where I can just live quietly in my house. There is no need for me to go out and socialize with others. It's not like I am scared of talking to someone, I just prefer to be alone.
Now I am currently in a dilemma. I'm in the middle of a forest, and if Xiu Bai's memory serves right, this forest has some dangerous beasts lurking within it. I can just go back to the city and stay at Xiu Bai's home, though it's impossible right now because I currently have no idea where I am!
Xiu Bai ran to this forest randomly, and it is pretty deep. She didn't even try to remember which direction she was going. She just went wherever her feet lead her, until those men managed to catch and kill her.
Basically, I am incredibly deep in a hostile environment. I'm bloodied and dirty, and basically I'm unarmed.
Isn't this hopeless then?
But well, I think not. I read some Isekai stories, so I half-expected that I will have a cheat ability along with my transmigration. I'm not really confident about it, but it seems like my worry was unfounded because it showed itself to me after awhile!
[Idle Cultivation System has detected a suitable host!]
[Beginning the process of integrating the System to the host...]
[Host existential core has been detected to be absolutely compatible to this System. All functions will be enabled!]
[Welcome, Host!]
A monotonous, and gender ambiguous voice stated in an emotionless manner in my ears as those words popped up on my vision. Disembodied panels floated on the air, and reaching out to them only resulted in my hand phasing through them.
This happened awhile ago, and since then I have been messing around with my cheat ability.
So first of all, the Idle Cultivation System seems to be an ability that enables me to cultivate passively. I don't have to do any of those meditation or cultivation techniques just to gather this mysterious energy the System dubbed as "Qi". I simply let time run its course, and my cultivation will progress steadily.
Along with that, I have the usual dimensional storage called Inventory, which is typical for someone who got transported to another world. This one has an incredible function other than the infinite amount of things I can put in it.
It can passively duplicate the items I put in it.
Surprisingly, the Low Grade Spirit Stone that this girl stole is still in my pocket. I put it on my Inventory, and then its number suddenly increased. Every second it is increasing by one.
Another thing I learned is that, along with opening a status screen that shows my cultivation stage, I can also poke some sections of my status screen to further upgrade them. There is the cultivation speed, and it seems like I need a certain amount of items so my cultivation speed doubles. I can also passively increase my strength, agility, intelligence, luck, and charm.
There is also the ability section, which is further divided into many categories. There are the combat skills, passive skills, supportive skills, daily life skills, spells, formations, alchemy, and a lot more. It's so much that I decided to stop and read it next time.
The items in my Inventory can also be simply poked. I can just poke the icon of the item in my Inventory and then it will show me the possible upgrades I can do to it, so long as I have the requirements inside my Inventory.
It's a really convenient cheat ability, and even someone as useless as me can survive if I have this kind of power!
As to what I am currently doing, I'm looking for a place to stay. It's... not going as well as I'd hoped it would be...
The sun is already setting, and I'm still stuck in the depths of this forest with no idea where the city is!
I really need a place to at least hide before something bad happens.
"Hm?"
Oh, am I seeing this right?
Just when I took a few steps forward and passed through the thick bushes of leaves, I found a small cave. The entrance is pretty small, though getting closer to it and looking at it carefully made me realize that I can fit in there by just crawling through it.
It's pretty dark, so I don't know if it is actually safe. Though I don't have any choice in the matter, so I crawled until I got inside the small cave.
It is truly small. I barely fit in here!
Though, strangely my eyes quickly managed to get used to the dark space around and I noticed just how small it is. Instead of a cave, I should just call this a hole. It's literally a small hollowed part of this rock formation. It can only fit a person!
But I think this is safe enough. There are no snakes or bugs inside this hole, so I think this much is fine to be a place I can hide for now.
I don't like this environment. It's small, and I can't even stretch my legs and arms comfortably. I can simply curl up or lean my head on the bumpy ridges of this rock wall, and it's uncomfortable so I'll just sit like this and pass the time somehow.
Fortunately, I have my cheat ability. By willing it, I opened my game-like Inventory. It showed itself as a disembodied floating panel in my vision, and swiping it up and down let me slide through the list of my items in it.
When I was looking for shelter, I put anything I could get on my hand into my Inventory. My Inventory shows the name of the items I put in it, so I have a general idea what kind of things I put in there. They also have a brief description about them, so I will know if I can use it or not.
Out of the many things I picked randomly on the forest, there are two that are edible. These two are...
(Heart Fruit)
A red colored, heart shaped fruit that is helpful for cultivation.
I took the two fruits in my Inventory and ate them. Both are extremely delicious, mostly the heart fruit. The rich apple is certainly tastier than the Fuji Apples I sometimes ate when I still lived with my parents, but the heart fruit is a lot sweeter and there is this certain sweetness in it that I can't accurately explain other than it blends well with the tanginess of the fruit.
I am unused to eating just fruits, being a person who is used to the convenience of modern life, but I can't really complain about it. I should be thankful I even have food to eat now!
After eating, I decided to take a rest just sitting like this. Surprisingly, despite the heavy scent of dirt, blood, and the moist nature around me, I don't feel uncomfortable with it. It felt like my nose just got used to it.
I don't know what's up with that, but it's welcome because I don't have to worry about the smell anymore. I can still smell it, but I can also ignore it willingly. It's like I have complete control over my sense of smell.
I also don't find it difficult staying in this curled position. It felt like I'm still sitting comfortably despite the uncomfortable position I am in.
If I have to say how I am feeling right now, it's that despite my pitiful appearance, I think I can freely move my body without my instincts taking over. It felt so... liberating, I think?
I can also pass the time just looking at the numbers in my Inventory, and seeing my cultivation level go up steadily. Since I got my cheat ability, my level at that time was the 1st Body Tempering Stage. Now I am at the 7th Qi Condensation Stage.
If I recall correctly, I was on the 9th Body Tempering Stage before it changed into the 1st Qi Condensation Stage. I don't know what it actually meant power wise, but I think it is a good thing. Now if I had a status that quantified my capabilities, then I might have been able to at least test whether I am strong or not.
The only numbers I can see are the required amount of Qi I need to level up, and it is steadily rising every second. My other status like strength and agility also increases at the same rate as my cultivation level. Though as I don't have anyone to compare to, I don't know just how strong I am with these numbers alone. I think these are progress bars rather than the quantification of my capabilities.
I look at the ability section, and it is barren of anything. I wonder how I can get a skill?
At least I wanted something like a skill for self-defense or survival. I am literally in the middle of a hostile environment. I need something that will help me survive!
[Would you like to use 100 Qi to learn Survival Skill?]
... Wow, so I can use my accumulated Qi to learn a skill?
Of course I want to!
[100 Qi has been deducted to learn Survival Skill!]
After that thought occured, a prompt appeared, showing that a hundred Qi have been taken from my cultivation progress has been reduced. It only took a hundred Qi, and I have thousands of them. I just have to wait less than an hour before I get to the 8th Qi Condensation Stage!
What I meant is that it is essentially irrelevant to my overall status. I have to wait a hundred second to refill that amount of Qi with my cheat ability.
I look at my ability list and saw that there is now a skill called Survival on the Supportive Skills category. It's now on the Mortal Stage, and there is a number besides it that is gradually increasing by one every second.
So even skills automatically progress by themselves after I learn them. This cheat ability is too powerful for someone like me!
I'm glad that I have something like this. I would be already dead without this skill.
Now with the knowledge that I can learn skills by just thinking about it, I thought of a lot of things I wanted to learn in my life. I need something essential to protect myself, and other stuff that I will need to create my own self-sufficient shut-in life!
With a cursory recollection of Xiu Bai's memory, I heard how brutal this world is. I don't know why Xiu Bai wanted to, what she quoted as, "Defy my own fate and embark on a bloody journey to immortality", but I definitely don't want to do it!
The world of cultivation seems to be bloody, and Xiu Bai had some dangerous thoughts like stealing from others just to rise to the top. She is even willing to do something as horrendous as killing!
I was barely an adult, still a teenager who ran away from home and just leeched from my uncle to live my decadent and useless life. There is no way I will do something as horrible as harming someone!
I can't even look at animated or pixelated gore, much less the real thing. There is no way I will do that!
So that is why I will live life in a solitary manner. There is no need for me to go out there and endanger myself. There was also that cultivator who Xiu Bai had stolen from. There is no way I can go back there and hope he isn't there!
"I just have to make a new house here. It looks like there are no people in the vicinity, so I can just live by myself without anyone bothering me. Isn't that my dream life!"
The thought of lazing around and doing nothing but enjoying my hobbies in my entire life, it is such a nice thought.
I will do it! Even in another world, I'll still live the life of a shut-in!
So first of all, this story is made with barely any thought. There is no end goal, no drafts, just nothing. I just wrote what came to mind, and decided it's enough.
I am writing this to motivate myself to write at all. I've barely written anything lately, and trying to think of interesting plots and planning stuffs on the background seems to have drained my creative juices a lot.
So instead of doing that, I just decided not to think about it and just write whatever. I'll just write until I burnt out...
This also meant that this story won't have the same quality as my other stories. I'm going to imitate web novel writers, which is just vomiting out a lot of chapters regardless if it progresses the plot or not.
I think I need to do that because otherwise, I'll just be stuck writing drafts and throwing it out on the trash. I wanted to actually write and publish something. I can't do that on my stories that I carefully thought of, like Doubling Everything (I really want to continue it, but I am really nervous of resuming it that I can't write anything at all...)
So this is the entire reason why this story has been made. Just to vomit words and post it to be active.
I honestly don't feel that confident with this story... so I won't put my Kofi link here. I think this story is not good enough that I will suggest donating for it...
And now, as for the story, the protagonist is a shut-in from Japan who got transmigrated into a typical character with a Xianxia protagonist mindset. The protagonist was only exposed to the Japanese media, mostly the games and animes from there, and she haven't heard of the Xianxia genre yet, so expect her being incredibly clueless about the culture of this world.
Even with Xiu Bai's memory, this new Xiu Bai will be clueless about the typical tropes that a Xianxia story usually has.
I hope you have fun somehow with this randomly thought story. I think I am somewhat having fun even without thinking this through properly...
So yesterday I got reincarnated as Xiu Bai and found myself stuck in this forest. After deciding to live my life as a shut-in even in another world due to discovering how broken my cheat ability is, I slept just curled up within this small space.
Today I am going to use the knowledge I got from the skills that I learned. First of all, every skill that I learned all costed 100 Qi. All of them are graded as Mortal, so I think they are so low in tier that they aren't considered strong in this world.
Well it's fine. It's only natural for a useless person like me to have trash level skills. Only someone like me will find mundane things as useful. My skill also upgraded them into better ones overtime, so I think my cheat ability is just that good.
As for the skills I tried to learn. These are the common ones. They are Cooking, Stealth, Taming, Harvesting, Cleaning, Engineering, Farming, and a lot more. I think I need all of it to survive in this forest. It's the only thing I can think of anyway.
I tried learning magic, but instead of giving me magic, my cheat ability kept insisting on calling them Dao Spells. I don't even know what it meant from Dao Spells. Is it the version of magic on this world?
Anyway, when I asked for a Fireball spell, it gave me a Dao Spell with the same name. Though to learn it, I need 10,000 Qi. I am currently at the 9th Qi Condensation Stage, and it didn't reached the 10,000 Qi mark for me to purchase it.
Whenever the amount of Qi I need has been reached, it always resets back to zero. I can't use what's already used to automatically raise my cultivation stage. On my current level, if I have to ascend I needed 9,000 Qi. That didn't even reached the required amount to learn the Fireball Dao Spell.
Every other spells I knew on my fantasy world knowledge also gave me varying results. Basic spells needs 10,000 Qi, while super advance ones like time stop costs a whopping amount of 500,000,000 Immortal Qi.
I don't even know what is Immortal Qi, and what's the difference between it and normal Qi!
Anyway, I have some skills that can help me with building stuff. I just need the tools to create it. I also have a Crafting skill, which is also a Mortal Grade skill that gives me the knowledge how to make stuff.
Just taking some branches and some conveniently shaped rock, along with some sturdy looking vines, I managed to quickly made a makeshift axe. Then I put it on my Inventory to duplicate it, so I won't have to bother to make it again.
After that I used it to cut a tree in half. Remember when I say that my skills gets upgraded overtime?
Yeah, the Lumbering skill that I learned awhile ago has risen in grade. My other skills are too after some time passes. I needed 10,000 Qi before they rise in rank, and it seems like the progression between my cultivation progress and my skill progress are totally separate.
That's why my Lumbering skill has upgraded from Mortal Grade into Mystic Grade. I have to wait until it progressed to 100,000 Qi before it rises to the next grade.
Anyway, it might be because of my Lumbering skill being Mystic Grade, I somehow managed to cut the tree cleanly even with my makeshift stone axe. It's so surprising that I froze up.
I mean... how can I not be surprised! That's a whole tree trunk, and I simply slice it with this blunt axe! How did that happen!?
Regardless of my surprise, I quickly took the whole part of the tree that I cut and put it in my Inventory. I can't put things attached to something onto my Inventory, so I have to personally take it with my hands before I can put it in my Inventory. The tree I cut up is somehow light when I carry it and push it to my Inventory. It gave me a vague measure of just how strong I am.
I don't know if I managed to cut the tree with this newly discovered strength, or it's just that my Lumbering skill is good.
Anyway, while duplicating the tree on my Inventory, I started taking some conveniently shaped stones and sharpened it until I am confident enough on it's shape. Then I put it on my inventory to duplicate it too before taking the copied items from both the tree and the sharpened stone.
I used the stone to skin the tree. Cutting off unneeded branches and putting them on the Inventory. I also put the leaves on the Inventory because I can't be bothered to just throw it anywhere.
It finally became a suitable log for me to build with. Though before that, I still need more tools. I decided to move around the forest to get some needed materials like clay and copper.
It only took a moment for me to find some. I quickly scoop some of them with my conveniently shaped stones and put them in my Inventory to increase it. With that I essentially got everything I need.
Going back to the small cave, I quickly started making a makeshift stone hammer. Then I put some stones and make a makeshift furnace just outside the cave. After that, I took the large flat stone that I luckily found while looking for conveniently shaped stones. I put it on top of the makeshift furnace.
With a bit of finagling and improvisation, I managed to make my own open air smithery. It's not an ideal one, but it's not like I have any choice on the matter.
First thing I did is processing the duplicates copper into useful bronze. Along with the copper mound I found, there are also tin along with it. With the right amount, I can make a good bronze tool.
It's a lot better if I have steel, but I can't find any mines around here. I'll try digging stuff on my cave when I have the tools for it.
With the use of my open air furnace, and some improvised objects like the stone bucket, which is just a large stone that I hollowed out with my crafting skill and pure strength, I managed to filter out enough that I managed to cast bronze on the makeshift casting place.
I need bronze. Bronze is better than using stones as makeshift pickaxes. If I have a pickaxe, I can dig through the small cave. Before that, I have to widen the entrance first and then make the room larger so I can move around.
Casting the bronze product into a pick, and then putting it on a handle I crafted with the logs I have, I now have a bronze pickaxe. I put it in my inventory to copy it, and then take one out.
Along with the makeshift stone hammer, I started demolishing the small cave entrance and widening it. I somehow knew the spots I need to hit so the place just didn't cave in. It might be my Engineering skill, or something else. I don't know really...
I took awhile but I managed to finally widen out the entrance that I can enter even without crawling. I also widened the room and reinforced the walls with dirt and clay. I am also planning to further reinforced it with the logs I have, but I will need sturdy nails and iron to put them in place. Using wood or stone as a substitute for nails is not good. It will break sooner.
"... Wow, I managed to do all of this."
I'm surprised when I looked and saw that the sun is setting. I managed to achieve all of this in a single day. I don't feel tired at all!
"And now that I noticed it, I haven't eaten anything yet!"
I don't feel hungry at all. I wonder why is that?
Well, I got reminded of food so now I can feel a craving for a meal. So I took my fruits and started eating it while I think of what to do next.
This is just the first day, and even though this is the first time I did this much hard labor, I somehow feel refreshed.
Yes... I think this is good. The next day, I encountered the very first monster in my new life. It is a large wolf. It is incredibly large, at least the same height as me. It has a soft looking fur but it's expression looked incredibly fierce.
Of course what I did next is understandable.
I ran away!
"Please help me!"
I am so pathetic that even with my cheat ability, I am still running away with this wolf. Though there is no way I can fight it. It's too big!
I also don't have the heart to fight it. I am not confident at myself. Even if I have the strong, if someone as useless and untalented like me decided to fight, I might still lose.
I might as well just run!
"Huh...?"
Looking back, I am surprised when the large wolf can't even keep up with me. I noticed that I gained a considerable distance from it in just a short time I tried running away from it.
That wolf is running after me with it's mouth drooling. It's a bit scary, so I decided to run for awhile.
It took awhile, before I finally realized I have something that can help me.
"Oh right, I have a Taming ability! Why am I running away!?"
I stopped, and decided to try taming the large wolf. I am a bit scared, so I tried climbing on top of the tree. Surprisingly I managed to climb the highest tree nearest to my current location before the wolf caught up to me.
It barks on my way while I look down on it. It's ferocious look is making me scared!
"Uh..."
I tried thinking on how to tame it, and I'm surprised when I got some relevant knowledge about it. I think I just need to use Qi, which somehow I knew how to use.
By infusing the Qi to my voice, and trying to sync my essence to it's instincts, I can somewhat convey my words to it.
"Uhmm... I am really sorry for asking, but is it fine if you don't hurt me? I think I don't even taste that good!"
I think my words are reasonable too. I am still wearing this bloodied clothes that is also full of dirt. It's time like this I wanted to find water to clean myself up. I stink!
Surprisingly, I somehow discerned that the wolf understood me. It sits up and stares at me intently.
"... Uh... is it fine? Can you understand me?" It just looked at me. "Can you nod?" It nodded at me.
Wow, it actually understands me! Taming is amazing!
"Then... can you take a few step back please?"
I am still unsure whether I am safe from it. What if it suddenly pounce at me when I get down on this tree?
So I tried asking it, and thankfully the wolf obliged and take a few step back. I am still unsure so I tried asking it until it's a lot farther until I felt like it's safe enough to go down on the tree.
I look at it, and see it just staying on the distance. It sits obediently with it's tail slowly wagging on the air. It's ferocious expression awhile ago has been changed into that of a mellow husky.
Is it really alright? Can I get closer to it?
I tried doing so with trepidation. I deliberately tried to take soft and cautious steps towards it until I got closer to it. It is just staring at me while occasionally tilting it's head. It's deep jade eyes is gazing directly at me, though I can't feel any hostile intent directed at me.
"Can I touch you?" It's tail wags when I asks it.
I reached out, and gently put my hand on top of it's head. It's fur is so soft and smooth. Just caressing it's head makes me feel satisfied.
Then it suddenly moved it's head towards me. Nuzzling forward and licking me. At first I thought it is going to eat me, but it took me awhile to realize that it is just trying to be affectionate.
"Ah... right..."
Okay, it seems like I managed to tame this large wolf. I don't know if this is normal, but I'll just thank my cheat ability for this.
Now, what should I do with this wolf?
So about the protagonist. The protagonist has a very low self-esteem. You will occasionally find self-depreciating monologues when it comes to her POV. I hope it's not that uncomfortable while your reading this...
That's it for this chapter for now. See you later!~
Three days has passed since then. All my originally Mortal Grade skills has become Spirit Grade ones. I don't specifically know what changed, but I knew I improved on all of those skills.
That is proven on what's in front of me now. A newly built hut with a small mine, a well, and a pond I personally created. The pond has been created using the water on the well, which I duplicated within my inventory.
It seems like when liquid is concerned, it increases it by liter instead. That's why for a single day, I have gallons of water to put on the small wake I made which I turned into a pool.
I've done all of this within three days. My body seems to be so strong and fast that I can easily do things a lot quicker than normal people. I knew this is not normal when I think about it carefully.
I also discovered something while I am building stuff. When I am done mining for awhile, I suddenly got a prompt like this one.
[The System has detected that you own a mine. This mine will be assimilated to the System.]
[You have unlocked the Idle Mining feature. You can produce essence clones by spending your Qi to mine for you.]
[The mine will passively produce ores and other precious resources. It will also improve overtime!]
And when I built the pond, it gave me this prompt.
[The System has detected that you made a pond. This pond will be assimilated to the System!]
[You have unlocked the Idle Fishing feature. You can produce essence clones by spending your Qi to fish for you.]
[The pond will passively produce fishes and other precious resources. It will also improve overtime!]
Then when I built my own house...
[The System has detected that you made a wooden hut. This wooden hut will be assimilated to the system!]
[This hut will be considered your personal abode. Staying here will double all your cultivation progress.]
[Your personal abode will passively improve overtime!]
The well didn't give me anything, but it's not like I'm expecting anything. I only dug a well because I need water. It's just that when I saw that the Inventory duplicates the water by liter that I decided to make the pond.
It's really a cheat ability. It's spoiling someone like me!
Looking around, I can see Pochi sitting comfortably besides the pond. It is sipping the crystal blue waters of the pond occasionally, and lazing on the gentle sunlight of the morning.
This is the wolf I tamed by the way. When I tamed it, the system also gave me a prompt just like the other ones.
[The System has detected that you tamed a wolf. This wolf will be assimilated to the System!]
[You have unlocked the Idle Pet Companion feature. Every pet you tamed will passively improve overtime, both on their cultivation, innate abilities, and bloodline!]
I think that sounds good. Though I don't know what's with the bloodline. Are bloodlines important on cultivation?
Anyway, when I tamed Pochi, it shows me it's species. It seems like it is called a Silver Forest Wolf, and there is this special thing it has called an affinity. It's affinity seems to be the Yin element, specifically the moon. It's what it is written on it's affinity.
(Affinity: Yin Element "Moon")
Has extreme affinity to the Yin element, specifically on the rising of the full moon. It can easily cultivate Yin-related essences, and this effect is doubled if it was in contact with the moonlight. Quadruple if it's full moon.
An immortal beast from the higher realm that is feared all over the heavenly court. This creature held a sliver of blood of this tyrannical beast, and it can be awakened if properly nurtured.
I don't know what's with those arrogant sounding name, but the description makes it sound so strong. I wonder if this is their Fenrir equivalent, or it's just a common wolf on this world?
Xiu Bai's memory is unreliable because she has no knowledge of this one. So I can just guess it without any proof.
Anyway, Pochi is extremely loyal to me. Everytime I leave my house, it quickly got to it's feet and nuzzled close to me. Right now it is going to do so.
It's really large. It easily surpassed my size. If it sits, it easily towers over me. Though seeing it's face so close makes me squeal in delight.
I'm sorry Pochi for squealing like this, but you are so cute! Oh, you like the way I scratch you there? Here, I'll do it more!~
After fluffing with him for awhile, I finally started doing what I decided I will be doing today.
If the system assimilate things as I do stuff, then I think making a farm is just right. After that I also have to make a proper smithery, and a dress room for myself.
This might sound surprising, but before I became a shut-in, I actually like cooking. Due to reasons I won't elaborate anymore, I quit and just stayed in my room.
I'm still thinking of staying inside my new home, but my hobby is originally cooking. Now that I am alone, no one will bother me. I am free to do whatever I want!
I need ingredients though, so I need a farm. I need the system to recognize it as a farm so it can assimilate it, and then produce more crops for me without me having to look for it.
I only have the Heart Fruit and the Rich Apple. They have their seeds, though I don't know anything about it. Thankfully, my Farming skill seems to come in handy as it instinctually led me to the proper steps of planting this fruits.
I have a lot of seeds, and creating a plot of land for farming is easier for me. It barely took me a quarter of an hour before I'm done with tilling the soil using my bronze tools. Putting the seeds and properly watering them barely took ten minutes.
I made the plot small enough. Something that can be considered a hobby garden back on my world.
After I am done, I smiled as the prompt I am anticipating showed itself.
[The System has detected that you made a garden. This garden will be assimilated to the System!]
[You have unlocked the Idle Herb Garden function. You can produce essence clones with your Qi to take care of the garden.]
[The herb garden will automatically grow any seeds you planted in it. Every plants, fruits, herbs, and other types of plants will improve in quality overtime!]
... It's not a farm. It's called a herb garden. Why?
"Ugh... whatever. Next is the smithy."
My first open air furnace isn't considered a proper smithy by my cheat ability. If not for discovering about this system assimilating thingy, I might not reattempt making a smithy again.
It's fine. If I want to live inside my house for a long time, I need to create all of this! Then I can focus on my actual hobbies! An entire day has passed, and I finally made a proper smithery with all the stones I used to build this entire house.
My mine didn't have any iron or other ores inside it. I only have copper, tin, and coal so I can only do stuff like this. I somehow knew how to make reinforced cobblestones using a mix of clay and mud. It's pretty easy actually. I just need the right techniques to bake solidify them right.
Normally I will need a few days to finish all of it, but my Engineering skill is weird as I used my Qi with my movements. Somehow I made a really sturdy smithy using only cobblestones. It seems like it is enough for my cheat ability to recognize it as a proper smithy.
[The System has detected that you made a smithery. This smithery will be assimilated to the System!]
[You have unlocked the Idle Crafting feature. You can make essence clones using your Qi to craft items for you!]
[This smithery will improve overtime, and the quality of items created in it will increase as time passes!]
It's called Idle Crafting, but it's a smithy so whatever. Now I have a place I can let my essence clones do their thing while I just sit on my home!
Feeling happy with myself, I just left the smithy I made when I heard a slow meaty thud on the distance. Or course I am surprised, but I quickly realized who is it and I can't help but sigh.
Going to the pond, I saw another large body of some pig. It has the same appearance of a wild boar, but it's more demonic looking with it's reddish skin and that extremely demonic face that is now slackened.
Eugh... why Pochi!
"... I am grateful that you hunt meat for us, but can you please do it properly. It looks..." I felt so sick.
It's so bloody. By the looks of the shredded body, it seems like it has been cut into ribbons by some extremely sharp object. I can see the trail of blood leading to this place. There are some bits of guts on it.
I am not good at this kind of scene.
Well, I am used to handling meat. I aspired to be a cook before I became a shut-in, but that didn't mean I want to see something this brutal. This is just bad!
Pochi, don't give me that look. I know you are cute, but still...
"... Just, if you are going to hunt, don't make it so bloody..."
Pochi understood me somewhat as it nodded at me. So long as it understands, I don't mind it hunting the place around.
This might sound heartless, but I am in the middle of a hostile environment. Xiu Bai's memories told me that this place is teeming with dangerous beasts. I have to be thankful that Pochi is willing to reduce the amount of monsters that are just lurking around. That will give me a sense of peace.
Even if I have a taming ability, I would prefer not facing a monster at all. Just let me live in peace! After the day is done I came back home and felt that energizing feeling welling up within me. It's the hint that my cultivation progress has doubled.
After the Qi Condensation Stage, the next is the Core Formation Stage. I felt it within me when I got to that point three days ago. The feeling of something integral within my body solidifying. It seems like it is my core as a cultivator.
I actually don't understand, but it seems like now I am incredibly attuned to my affinity and essence. It is why I can use my Qi even when I am clueless about it a few days ago. I have this instinctual feeling how I can use it, just like how I just knew how to breathe.
Currently, I am at the 5th Core Formation Stage. As for my affinity, my status says I am compatible with every element. I don't know if it is amazing or not. There are some Isekai stories I read that shows being compatible with everything is bad, so I am actually unsure. Maybe it's not a good thing at all?
Or maybe my cheat ability is spoiling someone like me again and it is actually an incredible thing?
Well, I am wasting that potential because I have no plans to leave this place, so it didn't matter at all!
Anyway, since I got to the Core Formation Stage, I decided to learn those Dao Spells starting with fireball. I haven't tested it yet, and I'm planning to do so later when I have a suitable place to do it.
Currently I managed to learn three Dao Spells. It's actually hard to increase my repertoire while waiting for my Qi to go up. Even if my cultivation speed is doubled up now, it's still two Qi per second. I wanted to increase my level first. I don't feel confident that I am strong enough to survive in this world with this kind of level.
So I only learn basic Dao Spells everytime my stage increases. I started doing this when I achieved the 3rd Core Formation Stage, so that's why I only have three spells right now.
Maybe if I don't feel like leveling up for awhile, I might just think of spending most of my Qi to learning spells, but for now I will focus on leveling up. I think having a high level is a good thing right?
Anyway, the spells I learned are Fireball, Heal, and Aura Barrier. Fireball and Heal are both self-explanatory. Aura Barrier just uses my Qi to create a thick barrier around my body. I don't know what it can actually repel. I tried dropping a stone on my foot while that barrier is active, and it simply bounced off. So I think it is working?
As to why I chose those skills? Because I need to be safe!
Well, the fireball is just something I wanted to try. It's a staple of fantasy, and I am excited to try using magic.
Tomorrow, I will make an area just for the sake of testing my skills out. [The System detected that you made a suitable training ground. This area will be assimilated by the System!]
[You unlocked the Idle Training function. You can make essence clones by using your Qi to train for you. Everything they learned will be shared to you!]
... Okay, I am not expecting that. I just made this place to test my fireball...
This place is a wide area. My essence clones from the herb garden, which were just transparent clones of me, seems to consider cutting trees as part of their job. They are doing that now and taking the seeds to plant it on the garden.
By the way, I made two essence clones on each areas that my system has assimilated. Though I actually thought it's not really necessary because my Inventory can simply duplicate everything I put inside it. I think the additional income is welcome.
Anyway, those essence clones cleaned a wide opening for me to build this training area. The clones at the crafting area made all the building materials like clay bricks and wooden dummies so I can make this training area.
Pochi is besides me as I take a step forward in the middle of the training ground. I pointed my palm at the wooden dummy that my essence clone created.
"... Hmm, it's like this right?" I controlled the Qi just like how the knowledge of learning the fireball Dao Spell taught me, and then shout the words. "[Fireball]"
A large ball of flame formed in front of my palm and then it shoots out. It leaves a trail of fire on the ground as it got into contact with the dummy, and then it exploded with a resounding boom.
"Ouch!" My ears! It's ringing!
I didn't thought it will be that strong. Is this a normal thing? Or maybe it's because my Fireball, which is originally a Mortal Grade spell, has turned into a Mystic Grade spell.
Regardless, it's strong. I watched the resulting scene in both horror and fascination.
The dummy has been burnt to crisps. There is a wake where that dummy used to be, and there are still some flames remaining around the wake. The heat also made a hazy visage on the air, and I can feel the warm breeze as the wind brushes my skin.
"... Okay, I still don't know if I am strong, but I feel like I can survive with this much!"
If I became more stronger, then I won't have to worry about anyone just suddenly turning up and bringing dangerous situations on my way! I won't even have to worry about those monstrous beasts if I can cast something this strong!
I felt so happy. This is all thanks to my cheat ability that I got this strong!
"I just have to build a weaving area, and then I'll be done. There will be no need for me to do anything anymore after that!"
After that, I will research ways how to create my true pass time. Cooking meals for myself, and spending my time reading or playing games is the life!
I can't wait!
Just going to say that I am happy you like this enough that you reached this chapter.
It's been a week since I got transmigrated to this world. At this day, I made a great achievement!
"Finally, I have new clothes!"
I can finally get off of these drabs and change into something decent. I know I'm not good looking enough, but it isn't like I want to stay wearing torn up clothing like this!
Goodbye, my first clothes. Welcome my new dresses!
With the creation of the weaving room, I got a weird function called Dressing Room. I can ask for any types of dress I want, and the shop itself will make it with all the available materials. I only need to pay 100 Qi for a full outfit. 10 Qi if I only ask for a single part of the outfit.
There is this incredibly flexible editor section on the Dressing Room panel which enables me to design the clothes I wanted, and on which part of the body it will be worn. I can also change whether it's a person or another creature who can wear it, and the editor will make the relevant changes to fit it.
Now I wore something comfortable for myself. Long jeans, hoodie, some blouse for inner wear, and other stuff I usually wore when I am still living in my past life. The only available materials seems to be some plant fibres from some of the plants that my essence clones got from the trees and plants they harvested outside.
I don't know if this is better than Idle Crafting, though I don't really care about the benefits it will give me. I just want to wear something that makes me comfortable. This one is pretty comfy!
Though... I tried to ask for something on my size, and it seems like Xiu Bai is a lot more curvier than I expected. My cheat ability helpfully changed it to fit my current body, though it still shows me just how originally I am not pretty or have a good figure at all... urk...
Regardless, I have a new outfit. I also made a collar that fits Pochi so it's great.
Now there is practically nothing I have to do. I have my essence clones doing everything essential, and Pochi takes care of the monsters around the forest. I can cook whatever I want, wear everything I want, and practically laze around anytime I want!
That is why, I decided to try and learn something to pass the time.
I am a shut-in, but that doesn't mean I can stay inside the room without doing anything. I still need something to pass the time!
Originally I have a lot of things that I can use to kill some time. I can play some games on my uncle's computer, read manga, watch anime, read light novels, or just try out some outfits I ordered online. I sometimes spent my time cooking when I know I'm alone in the house.
Though this time I don't have anything. I can cook, but it's not like I can only do just that!
I need other hobbies to spend my time for a long time in this house. I can think of games, but there is no games in this world as far as I recall from Xiu Bai's original memory, and finding something else like a computer is impossible. So there is no way I can play anything at all.
If I'm looking for something to read, I heard there is a library in the nearest town, though I can't really go there because I have no idea which direction it is located.
I'm basically alone in this place. Only Pochi is here accompanying me.
Then what else can I do? Play with Pochi?
I can make a frisbee. In fact, I can just ask for my essence clones to create one, and I can play with Pochi using that.
Hmm... you know what? I think that is a good idea! "Pochi, catch!"
And so I played catch with my large wolf using the rubber frisbee that I ask the clones from the smithy to make. This rubber came from a particular tree that my clones from the garden took off and planted on our garden. It's really cool, because it is a lot sturdier than normal rubber, but still as elastic as it.
Pochi is fast. It practically flies off the ground when it jumps to catch my thrown frisbee. Surprisingly, it didn't managed to catch it because it is a lot higher than both of us are expecting it to be.
... Wow, is that how strong am I? I just casually threw that!
It's pretty far up in the sky, and it got deeper in the forest. Pochi goes within the forest. Normally someone will be worried, but I know how strong Pochi is. I think it will be fine!
Anyway, I can't believe I'm actually this strong. I am barely advancing on my cultivation to this day. I'm currently at the 8th Core Formation Stage, and I need 80,000 Qi to level up. That almost takes a whole day. A half if I stayed all day in my home!
Are 8th Core Formation Stage cultivators superhuman? If so, what if there are many cultivators like that in this world?
I'm really curious, but it's not like I have any desire to go out there. Even if I'm really curious about it, my desire to be alone and just do my hobbies is stronger. So this will only stay as that, curiosity.
While thinking like that, I see Pochi coming back with the frisbee on it's teeth. It's tail is wagging aggressively as it got to my side quickly, along with a lot of dust.
I'm somehow immune to dust, so I didn't instinctively cough. I still have to cover my face though for a brief moment.
Then the dust quickly got swept up, likely by the wags of my wolf with how much it is wagging it's tail as it sits up and look at me with obvious anticipation and excitement.
... Yes, this is such a good life! Along with the increase in strength, I learned a lot of things about my Dao Spells and other skills. With my essence clones that I bought using my Qi, there are a lot of them crowding the training ground and throwing all sorts of spell.
Based on the knowledge they shared with me, it seems like my spell are a lot stronger than they're originally were. Fireball is a lot more hotter when it rises to the Spirit Grade spell. Heal also became potent enough to heal missing limbs. Aura Barrier seems to be strong enough to block ten attacks from a Cultivator that is one stage higher than the user.
Along with that, I can also train my other skills in there and share the knowledge they got to me. Like my originally Mortal Grade skills. All of them are practically useful!
I can craft artifacts, weave spiritual dresses, rise cultivation herbs, I can fish up demonic beasts, mine spirit stones, and a lot more.
Talking about spirit stone, I have it in my Inventory. This is the one that Xiu Bai stole on that male cultivator.
(Low Grade Spirit Stone)
A spirit stone with a lot of impurities from the mortal world. It is useful to cultivators up to the Core Formation Stage.
It says it is useful, but just how useful are we talking about here?
As I sit in my chair within my house, I stare at the single spirit stone I took from my Inventory. It might be my senses as a Core Formation cultivator, as it seems like I can sense the Qi contained within it. It's actually small, and if I'm going to quantify it with my meager talent, I think there is at least 100 Qi within it.
Of course, it's just a guess. It's not like there is a way to quantify Qi itself. Only my cheat ability does that. It doesn't even show the amount of Qi it has on the description, so I'm really clueless.
Still, I wonder if I can use this spirit stone for something?
[Would you like to use 1 Low Grade Spirit Stone?]
This item will be converted into 100 Qi on your cultivation progress.
... Okay, so it's actually a booster for my cultivation!
And I am duplicating this every second. Oh god, why am I not using it!?
I am really so stupid!
But wait, I recall that I can also evolve this item by meeting the requirements. What is it again?
I put aside the low grade spirit stone that I held, and open my Inventory to look at the icon of hat item. Poking it and pushing the upgrade button, I see the requirements for it.
It says that it needs even a single cultivation stage. Does that mean I have to downgrade just to upgrade it?
... You know what, I don't even have any enemies right now so it doesn't really matter. I will proceed!
On my status screen, my 8th Core Formation Stage got burnt and the words changes into the 7th Core Formation Stage. Along with that is a strange feeling as if something integral within me has been taken away.
It's a weird feeling that felt disgusting. It's like someone touched me all over without my consent. It's not a pleasant feeling at all!
But well, looking at the new item that appears, I think it is worth it!
(Middle Grade Spirit Stone)
A precious cultivation resource that can help cultivators up to the Spiritual Ascension Stage.
I don't know just how strong is that stage, but I think it sounds amazing. I'm already stuck being at the Core Formation Stage, and if this thing can help cultivators up to that stage to level up, then it must be a really precious resources.
And that kind of item is just being copied inside my Inventory every second. I wonder just how much do I need to upgrade it to it's higher version?
(Requirements)
10,000x Low Grade Spirit Stone
100x Middle Grade Spirit Stone
2x Cultivation Stage
This spirit stone will give me the same amount I need to learn a basic spell, and I simply duplicate it within my Inventory!
Truly, my power is totally broken!
Just what did I do that someone like me is so lucky? I think I'm not so good as to be given this kind of generous boon...
Not like I refuse. I just felt like I am wasting this power for my own selfish reasons.
Anyway, I think it's time to raise my cultivation level. I want to know the next stage after Core Formation! Above the golden clouds of the heavens, large beings with beautiful or heroic visages watched different small worlds with interests. Each of these beings held dominion on some or more worlds that littered this majestic reality.
One of the beings who watched over a certain reality is called Zu Xu. She is a woman with an incredibly wonderful appearance. With skin as pale as cotton, and a figure that can cause even the thunderstorms to calm down, she truly can be considered a godly entity.
This godly entity squinted her eyes as she noticed something. On a small desolate region of one of the small worlds she managed, she saw a beautiful mortal cultivator who was on the cusped of breaking through. She thought the girl would meet a bottleneck, but surprisingly her rise in power was stable. It was steadily going over the line of the Core Formation, and slowly arriving at the starting point of being a Nascent Soul cultivator.
"That can't be!" She exclaimed.
The heavenly principles and the ten thousand rules of creation already made the absolute laws of the heaven and earth. One of those laws was that those who were attempting to become immortal must face the punishment of the heavens for defying the natural order of life and death.
There should be an absolute restriction when cultivators were close to breaking through. They couldn't breakthrough without passing a great ordeal on their path of cultivation. One of those ordeals was the wrath of heavens itself, the Lightning Tribulation!
Though this girl ignored that absolute restriction. It felt like the automatic response of the heaven was blind to this mortal cultivator's antics.
"I must correct this!"
As she was the manager of this small world, she didn't want to be scolded by her superiors. Even if she was an almighty god by the standards of those who lived on the small worlds, in this resplendent realm she was simply a small ant amongst the giants.
She feared that if someone learned that a mortal ignored the heavenly principles, she would be punished heavily. So she decided to induced the Heavenly Lightning Tribulation.
"We might not have conflicts with each other, but I have to apologize. Your existence threatens my position on the Heavenly Court!"
With those words muttered under her breathe, she manipulated the laws of this small world on that small region. She used her precious Immortal Qi to achieved this feat, and was just feeling relieved after she felt her induced essence trying to influence the small world.
"... What!?" Though she was surprised at the next thing that happened.
Or rather, on the lack of things that was happening.
Just when her essence tried to force the wrath of heavens to occur and directed it at the unaware girl in the middle of the forest, it suddenly fizzled out. She felt as if the heavens refused even her own influence on her own world.
"What is happening!?" She exclaimed in surprise, her beautiful glowing eyes widened in shock as she stared at the figure of the girl who had finally achieved the Nascent Soul Stage.
"Zu Xu, why do you keep shouting alone in your duty!?"
She jumped up in surprised, before she quickly turned around and look at her beautiful senior.
"I-it's nothing! I just felt a bit stiff sitting here for so long..."
"Well, you should take a break once in awhile. I heard Lady Gunfeng is planning to hold a Heavenly Banquet. You should take this opportunity. There will be many immortal items that will be exchanged on that banquet, along with the precious fruits that can help us in our cultivation."
"Of course... I-I'll think about it!"
She stared at her senior until they left before she glanced at the only small world that she manages.
"... I think I have to closely monitor this girl!" She muttered under her breathe.
The introduction of a new character, which I actually have no idea what to do with her. I just wrote her because I thought it will be interesting when no Lightning Tribulation happens while the protagonist is having a breakthrough.
Thank you for reading, and see you later everyone!~
Time quickly passes. It's been a month since I've been transmigrated into the body of Xiu Bai. My cultivation stage was stuck at the Nascent Soul Stage.
It's not because of some sort of restriction or other sudden requirements. It's my own fault why I am still at the 8th Nascent Soul Stage despite having the spirit stones as a way to piggyback my cultivation progress.
It's because of the Dao Spells.
Yes, I got engrossed at learning more Dao Spells, that I decided to go wild without regards to my Qi reserves. I learned that I can use my own cultivation if I don't have enough Qi, so instead of advancing to the Spiritual Ascension Stage, which is a stage above Nascent Soul, I instead got stuck here because I kept recalling new spells that I usually see on Isekai stories I read, and generally the stuff I know from fantasy RPGs.
Along with that, I learned of the existence of Formations and Arrays, which was a fancy version of anything that has to do with setting up magic circles or other ritualistic type stuff commonly seen on fantasy stories.
As to how I discovered about Formations and Arrays, it's actually because I tried learning of a monster summoning skill. I somehow got the prompt for Monster Arrays, and Monster Gathering Formations whether I should learn or not, and it goes downhill from there.
Every Formations and Arrays costs 100,000 Qi at a minimum. I bought everything I could get my hands on, even those that costs 1,000,000 Qi. I can't help myself. Those Formations and Arrays are too interesting to pass up!
With that, I just noticed that I'm not leveling up. With that realization I stopped and decided to focus on actually leveling up instead of staying on this level.
While doing that, I watched the new functions I unlocked on my cheat ability. This whole month, I simply spent my time doing whatever I can think of to my life. This includes learning new skills like painting, writing, and other mundane stuffs to pass my time.
But going back on topic. After I learned of the Monster Gathering Array and making it at a place several meters away from my house, a new function has revealed itself. It's called the Monster Ranch.
Monster Ranch, different from the Idle Pet Companion function, is for managing stray monsters that has decided to turn the formation I made into their habitat. It seems like that place gives a lot of benefits to monsters, and there are chances they can evolve within it if they stayed in there.
The formation I made is rather simple. It's just a place to attract monsters from the vicinity. I am surprised that my cheat ability will improve upon it after it assimilates with that formation. Now it passively improves itself, and since a few days has passed, it seems like I can accelerate the time inside the formation whenever I want.
As for how the formation look, originally it is just a large symbol that was a few tens of meters wide. There are only trees and grasses around it, meaning it's not actually special.
Now it acts as it's own world. The system pretty much turned it into a subspace where monsters can thrive. The birth rate within the monster formation has been improved by a hundred percent, and for every generation of monsters that has been born there, their loyalty to me and those I consider my friends increases. This means that it will be easier for others to tame monsters inside it if they wanted to.
Though it is actually useless for me. I just made the monster gathering formation out of curiosity. My mind is more focused on the other stuff I added since learning of arrays and formations.
The difference between formations and arrays is that formations are permanent environmental alterations by making specific drawings or rituals in an area, whereas arrays are more temporary as it relies on the Qi it got infused it for it to work.
I'm saying that formations relies on the environment to power itself and achieve supernatural effects, while arrays achieves the supernatural effects by a specific Qi signature and the amount of Qi stored within it.
That's why I am interested at those two, because it gives a lot of options for me to play with. One of those option is increasing the Qi around my place so it becomes easier to cultivate here, or the fact that with arrays I can turn my whole place into an inescapable labyrinth from anyone I deemed as an intruder.
Unlike formation that relies on the environment, arrays specifically needed a source to function. It needs to be sufficient in both the materials and the size. In the end I chose my home as the catalyst for the array to function. My house can handle a lot more, so I kept putting new arrays I learned around my home.
Now my cultivation progress is eight times faster, and comprehending complex stuff becomes easier so long as I'm inside this place. The array also hides it from plain sight, so no one can see it except for those I specifically gave permission to do so.
I also made a formation around my whole territory, so it becomes a harder for others to approach my place. I did that after my Warding Formation got upgraded to Spirit Grade. I don't feel confident doing it while it is still Mystic Grade.
By the way, it seems like Formations and Arrays already started as Mystic Grades when I learned them with my cheat abilities. So I don't have to wait that much before it turns into Spirit Grade.
With this much protection, I don't need to worry about anything. With the monster gathering formation, Pochi can just go and bring back meat on my way.
I rarely see it now though. I only saw it twice a day. It seems like it really loved the monster gathering formation that it always stays inside that subspace.
Well, based on it's cultivation progress, it seems like it is improving a lot. It already reached the Nascent Soul Stage. I discovered that unlike humans, Pochi's cultivation was left as a single stage. Like after Body Tempering, it will go straight to Qi Condensation instead of rising up through nine stages.
It felt a bit unfair, though I don't have to feel that jealous to it. I see it's status as loyal, so if Pochi becomes stronger, I will be more safer!
Walking around, I realized that a lot of things has changed. I only knew my house transformed because I lived there. The house is currently rated as an Earth Grade Cultivation Abode. Earth Grade is the next upgrade from Spirit Grade. It seems like grading for skills, items, and buildings are the same.
The pond has also became larger. It can be considered a sea instead of a pond. My essence clones are floating on the air with the flight spell that I learned, and are using their fishing rods personally crafted from my clones on the smithy. On the pond there were fishes in it now, and a lot of seafood variety became available on my house.
On the mines, other ores like iron, silver, gold, and other precious minerals like diamonds has become available. It also produces low grade spirit stones. I am waiting for the time when it also produces high grade ones!
As for the smithy, it is now a bit larger and the tools are much better inside it. With my earth grade crafting skill, I think I can make some decent items that are infused with Qi. I can also make something complex.
In fact, I've already made it a project for my clones to create something like a computer. It is possible with crafting, though it needs a lot of know-hows, though I also have an earth grade engineering skill so I can do it. My clones shares my skills on those specific areas that they are assigned, so creating things will be easier so long as I have a high enough skill level.
The garden has turned into a large botanical garden full of beautiful plants, flowers, and trees. My clones from the garden occasionally goes outside and come back with more variants of fruits and flowers. It's a welcome thing because some of the things they bring are good ingredients for food based on my earth grade cooking skill.
As for the dress area, nothing actually changed in there. It's not really upgrading like the others. Though it is connected to every facilities that I have, mostly on every available resources on my territory. I can just go there and pick some new clothes that I ordered through the Dressing Room panel of my status.
I look around for a moment and noticed that Pochi is gone. I can see from the Pet Companion panel that it's cultivation progress is a lot faster than when he is outside, so it is highly possible that it is inside the subspace again.
Which means I have a free time to myself!
"Well, I have to test it out..."
Feeling satisfied with my brief check of my territory, I go back to my home. Other than everything in my territory and my own escapades with arrays and formations, I am also busy actually doing my hobbies.
There are no computers in this world, so I decided to go with the next best thing. Along with painting and writing, I also spent some hundreds of Qi to learn singing, dancing, and instrumental skills.
"Mhm~♪ Hmhmm~♪ Hmm~♪"
I hummed along with the melodic song I am composing with the new piano that I personally crafted along with my clones. I am interested at piano songs since my past life, but unlike now, I originally don't have a talent for it. Now that I can do it due to my cheat ability, I decided to craft a piano and use it to try out some piano arrangements for the games I know.
I can say that it went well. I felt extremely giddy just being able to use piano. I only saw others do it on YouTube and Nico, so I also want to do it.
Along with the piano, there are also the other instruments that I crafted together with my clones. We have the materials for it, so we make it. Every instruments are made naturally as they don't need something complex as infusing Qi and turning it like an artifact or something. We still put infuse some Qi, but it's just to enhance the quality of the sound it will make. There is no other reason for it.
Anyway, after I am done immersing myself with a piano and doing at least ten arrangements of popular anime songs, I decided to use violin and try to imitate some popular game songs by memory alone through my violin.
I hummed along as I move the bow and create sounds with it. The melodramatic vibe it gives with each music piece I did makes me a bit melancholic, though also uplifted that I can now make songs like this.
After awhile, I changed into other instruments. Just passing the time by playing different scores of music with each of them.
It's fun, though I felt somewhat lonely. It seems like just playing music alone is not that exciting as it seems...
Well, I'll do something else tomorrow. For now I want to try using the guitar too! Zu Xu felt hopeless as she watches the small world that she manages. When Xiu Bai made some formations and arrays, she slowly lose sight of her until she practically became invisible to her senses.
Zu Xu contemplated at it for awhile now, and she had an epiphany after awhile.
"Right... If the Divine Emperor found out that a mortal from my world manages to ascend without any tribulation, I will definitely lose access to my only world. I'll be put into the servant strata, and that will be bad for me!" Specifically, she was scared of losing both her face, and the benefits of being a manager of a world.
To be a manager of a small world, an immortal must at least be a Heavenly Star Realm expert, and they have enough feats and capabilities to be given a world. Zu Xu originally was born on the world she now manages, and so she didn't want to lose that position. She had spent countless centuries before she finally got the chance to claim her world on her dominion.
Being a manager of a world, even if it was small, brought many benefits. Along with having practically anything in her world easily accessible to her, she would also have precious resources that came directly from the treasury of the Heavenly Palace.
She was close to breaking through to the next stage. She was forming her fifth heavenly star within her core and spirit, which would greatly improved her capabilities. She couldn't afford to lose this position just because of a mistake.
"That is right. I just need to bring hardships on that mortal and use that as an excuse if someone find me suspicious!" She muttered under her breathe.
She couldn't directly interfere with the world. It was against the heavenly laws for immortals to descend to the Mortal Realm. They would have to received Purple Heavenly Tribulation Lightnings before they were allowed to take foot on these mortal worlds, and they only had a limited time before the heavens forcefully pull them back to the immortal realm. If they still tried to resist, they would be turned into ashes by Black Heavenly Tribulation Lightnings, which was a lightning that could kill even the Divine Emperor.
Cultivation was paved with hardships and blood. She just had to induced those hardships to the girl so she would have an alibi even if she was caught.
"I might not be able to touch you, but the inhabitants of that world can!"
She manipulated the fate of some people of her world with her Immortal Qi. She could only bit her teeth in frustration, as Immortal Qi was precious. It would take her a decade before she could recuperate what she used to influence the fate of some people on her world.
The people that she had chosen were those who had great karma, both good and bad. She hoped that at least one of them managed to bring hardships on that mortal. She couldn't just trivialize the path to immortality.
"And... I think I also have to do this..." She glanced at her ring with a bitter expression.
This was her dimensional storage ring. Within it held most of her treasures from her ten thousand years of existence. She planned on giving up some of it by letting it fall on her mortal world. She planned to make those people who got her treasures be fated to encounter the girl.
"It's fine... it's useless to me now. I have my Stellar Jade Fan and Heavenly Star Orb, so I shouldn't worry about losing some Divine Grade artifacts." She reassured herself even as she felt like her heart ached as she released some of her long time artifacts, and used her Immortal Qi to open a pathway to her world.
With that, she placed her hopes on the people that would later encounter that mysterious girl. She had no idea about the current situation of that girl after she managed to hide herself from her surveillance, but she thought she might still be stabilizing herself.
Even if it was several thousand years ago, Zu Xu vaguely remembered the process when a person became a Nascent Soul Stage cultivator. The higher the cultivation, the longer it was to consolidate and stabilize their own cultivation. They had to be patient before they could try cultivating again, or else it would destroy their body.
So she only manipulated those whose cultivation was lower than Void Amalgamation Stage. She thought it was enough ordeal for that girl.
She hoped that this was enough. She didn't want to lose her job.
I definitely planned this one... NOT!
I just wrote whatever felt interesting, so if this looks like it is setting up into something big, then that is a lie. I don't have any concrete plans for this story, only vaguely imagined ones that I instantly write on this chapter.
Though there is something sure with this. Someone will soon get to the MCs location. I'm still thinking how it will go, but that's the general idea while I'm writing this chapter.
I hope you have fun with this one too. See you later everyone!~
Void Amalgamation Stage. That's the next stage after Spiritual Ascension Stage. I just reached that after a single day of focusing myself on leveling up with my high grade spirit stones. I have high grade spirit stones for awhile now. I got the required materials to upgrade the middle grade one to this, and I wanted to learn just how much Qi I can get from it.
It didn't disappoint. High grade spirit stones gives 1,000,000 Qi every time I used it. My Inventory is simply duplicating that.
Nascent Soul Stage always capped at 10,000 Qi. It only adds 10,000 Qi everytime I breakthrough to the next stage. Then Spiritual Ascension needs 100,000 Qi, and everytime I achieved the next stage, the required amount of Qi will add another 100,000 Qi until I achieved the Void Amalgamation Stage.
Now Void Amalgamation Stage is pretty absurd. I need 1,000,000 Qi to increase my stage. Just like the others, 1,000,000 Qi will be added everytime I breakthrough to the next cultivation stage.
I wonder what's the next stage after that?
I'm still really confused about the stages of cultivation. It's unlike conventional RPG where I simply have to raise my level from 1 to 100. I would love to learn more about cultivation stages, but my cheat ability is not giving me any answers.
I think it only give prompts when I'm asking to learn other skills or spells. There are no useful hints like what's the final level.
Anyway, about the cultivation level itself, I felt a lot of changes in my body since it started. Nascent Soul made me feel everything in my surroundings, and I became incredibly sensitive to any elements or Qi being used. I also became capable of detecting life signatures on a very long distance.
On Spiritual Ascension Stage, I automatically learned a new ability called Astral Projection. Astral Projection seems to be tied to my cultivation level itself.
Then now on Void Amalgamation Stage. There is this sense of vastness within my mind that suddenly expanded when I achieved this stage. Wherever I look, I can instantly see even the tiniest detail on even the most distant objects, and somehow I can discern the amount of Qi and some sort of affinity from everything my eyes has set on.
As far as I know, I don't have an ability like that. I learned an Appraisal Spell, and the only thing I learned is that the weird colors surrounding those objects are what's called the elemental affinity. It somewhat explains it because those who had red colors along with their Qi have fire affinity based on my appraisal, and those sky blue colors have water affinity.
Anyway, it seems like achieving the Void Amalgamation Stage made me incredibly aware of my surroundings. I think I might be able to influence them, or in fact I can!
Even without the skill for it, I can manipulate elements by using my Qi around them. I think being a Void Amalgamation cultivator gave me total control over the elements around me.
I wonder what else can happen if I got to the next stage?
I will find that out with the use of some of my high grade spirit stones! Mahayana Stage. That's the stage after the Void Amalgamation Stage. After passing through the nine stages of that with a few high grade stones, I achieved this stage. The effects of getting to this stage is huge.
Now I felt like I actually own everything in this whole space. If I will it with a small usage of Qi, I can manipulate that area to an absolute degree.
Like for an example, I can burn that tree with a bit of thought alone. By just injecting a bit of Qi with my intent, anything is almost possible.
I said almost because I can't just will impossible things to occur. I can only manipulate common elements around the world. Manipulating time and space is a lot difficult. My cheat ability even gives a prompt that I don't have enough Qi to even attempt to do that.
Though I can manipulate time to a certain extent, so long as I limited it to a small area. Increasing my stage to the 2nd Mahayana Stage exponentially increases my potential. Now it became possible to manipulate time on a small room. Using more high grade stones to achieve the 3rd Mahayana Stage expanded my influence when using extremely complex elements.
Do I want to go further?
Well, actually not. I think I'll just raise myself to the 5th Mahayana Stage and then focus on learning more Formations and Arrays.
After doing that, I decided to do the next thing I got my interest on.
Potions.
I am in a fantasy world, even if this world shows signs of Chinese cultures in it. There should be an equivalent of potion making in this world!
I want to at least see one of the staples of fantasy world. You can't call it an Isekai without seeing a magical potion! Well, at least most Isekai stories I read have something like that!
That's why, even though it's a bit late now, I wanted to try alchemy. I want to learn it!
[Would you like to use 1,000,000 Qi to learn Alchemy?]
1,000,000 Qi!?
Is alchemy that strong that I need 1,000,000 Qi for it!?
Well, I'll still learn it.
[1,000,000 Qi has been deducted to learn Alchemy!]
I look at the Alchemy skill, and is surprised to see it start at the Mortal Grade. I thought with it's cost, it will at least start at the Spirit Grade.
Anyway, after learning Alchemy, I acquired new knowledge along with it. I'm surprised to learn that the herb garden, mine, and the fishing area are all important for my alchemy. Mostly the herb garden as I realize that the plants my clones put in there are all important for concocting stuff.
The knowledge I got are pretty weird. Instead of potions, I can make pills while using a specialized cauldron. I don't know why it will turn into pills. Can't it turn into liquid or something!?
Maybe I will unlock the potion making when this skill gets upgraded. For now I have to be satisfied with pill making.
Let's see... I need a suitable place to do my alchemy.
I leave my house for the first time, and then picked a suitably empty space just besides my smithery before preparing everything I will need with my Inventory. I literally have all the tools, because my clones just need to make one of it, and I can simply duplicate it inside my Inventory.
I should start now! [The System has detected that you made an Alchemy Workshop. The Alchemy Workshop will be assimilated to the System!]
[You unlocked the Idle Pill Furnace function. You can make essence clones with your Qi to create random pills for you!]
[After a pill has been made, it will be saved on your recipe lists. You can customized your pill making by picking pills that you already got from your recipe lists. Your alchemy workshop will also improve overtime!]
Pill making. It's really stuck on pill making!?
No way... how about potions?
Is this it? Am I being too spoiled by the System?
... Ugh, I should just accept it. It is still potion making in a sense, even though it's just magical drugs.
Though, I really want to see an array of colorful flasks. It will feel more fantasy-like than a bunch of pills in a jar. After that disappointment, I just let my clones make pills randomly while I stay at my home. Currently I am cooking something.
Pochi kept hunting boar-like monsters and deer-like monsters. These monsters are a lot more delicious than their normal counterpart, so I decided to accept it. Pochi is also becoming skilled at hunting without making it bloody, so I am somewhat feeling that it is alright.
I simply let my mind wander as I butcher the game into different parts. I have cooking knowledge in my past life being a hobbyist, but my earth grade cooking skill has turned me into a master for even prepping a newly hunted game.
I don't want to think about the rather brutal display of dismantling the corpse of an animal... urgh, I'm thinking about it again! Stop that, brain!
I am getting used to it though because everyday, Pochi comes just to drop his hunt to my house. I still prefer not seeing something this brutal if I can help it!
By the way, everytime I started prepping the game, I always find this weird crystal within the body of these monsters. It's on the part that can be considered near their heart if they are normal animals.
I can use appraisal to it, but I decided to just put it in my Inventory to duplicate it while reading it's description. Based on my Inventory, it is called a Demon Beast Core. It is the crystallization of a monster's cultivation and life it seems. It greatly helps with cultivation, and stimulating the bloodline within a cultivator if the monster in question is closely related to their bloodline.
I actually don't know what any of it meant. Why does bloodline sounds so important as I read about it? I can't even learn about it with my cheat ability!
Well, I said I can't learn it, but I currently have have six bloodlines active within me. They are the Heavenly Mountain Boar, Chaotic Demon Elk, Immortal Jade Snake, Golden Sea Dragon, Millennium Sea Serpent, and Resplendent Diamond Clam. Half of which originated from the monsters that Pochi usually hunted, while the other half came from the fishes that was spawned on my fishing area.
It seems like eating the monsters will give me their original bloodline. I don't know what it's used. I think it's just cosmetic or something?
Anyway, feeling a bit depressed that I can't see true potion crafting, I decided to just make a venison steak. It's easy to cook now with my earth grade cooking skill. With the aid of my Qi manipulation, I can hasten the preparation time so I can quickly prepare it.
As a pair for this steak, I'll also make mashed potatoes with my personal twist. I just have to put a bit of mushroom cream, and it will be done.
Even with the help of Qi manipulation and an advance cooking station, it still took me an hour to cook the venison to perfection. Mashed potatoes are easy to make so I did it last after I am sure that the venison steak is perfectly cooked.
After that, I prepared a few citrus juices, and then my meal is done. I decided to eat by my lonesome.
Two weeks ago, I discovered that I don't feel hungry anymore. My expanded senses and instinct tells me it has to do with the stable circulation of my Qi. Though I can still eat if I want to.
And I chose to eat! My hobby is cooking, and cooking something without eating it is such a waste! Even if I make something bad, I still have to eat it!
Wow, this steak is incredibly soft!~
It doesn't have as much fat like other meat, and it is rich with proteins. This is all thanks to my cheat ability that I can cook something this good. If this is my original talent, I might just fail it altogether!
I felt a presence getting closer behind me so I look behind and saw the large face of Pochi staring at me with it's tail wagging at incredible speeds.
"Alright, I made a lot. Give me a moment, I'll prepare something for you!~"
I make a lot of steak because I know Pochi loves it. It always goes to my side whenever I am done cooking, and it became a routine for me to just spoil it.
As I pick a large bowl that was almost the same size as a normal washbasin, and put ten kilograms of venison steak to it, I can see my wolf sitting on the ground but already drooling with it's tongue out.
"Okay, here you go Pochi!" I caressed it's head as it quickly dived in to the bowl I put on the ground.
Even with the disappointment of not seeing proper potion making, I still think this is such a good life in a fantasy world! Fan Ling limped his way within the depths of the Desolate Woods. He was an outer sect disciple of the Viridian Sword Sect, which was a righteous sect that was based around this region.
He gritted his teeth as he coughed out blood. His eyes sunken by weakness still held a fire beneath it. His steps were heavy as he left the scene.
"Zhou Wang, you pig! Stabbing me in the back just because of a treasure we found together!" His eyes was filled with hatred. "I, Fan Ling, will pay this grudge a hundred times over! I swore to the heavens that I will kill you or my surname won't be Fan!"
The name he spouted was one he formerly considered his sworn brother. It was his fellow disciple from the Viridian Sword Sect who had gone from thick and thin with him on their journey to cultivation. They had been friends for two years now, though the treasure they coincidentally found within this forest showed the true colors of his "friend".
This week was one of the sect's yearly activities. With two elders and some core disciples overseeing the outer sect disciples, they're object was simply to experience combat within the forest and further build up their mentality and sharpen their combat abilities within the forest. This activity was also a great chance for outer sect disciples to catch eyes of the elders or core disciples, and achieve an opportunity with it.
There is also an unspoken rule within their sect that anything they found will be theirs. The sect wouldn't interfere how they dealt with what they own. Their elders and seniors were only watching for any unforeseen circumstances, like a sudden attack from demonic cultivators.
This should be a normal outing that will build up their future, but due to the sudden discovery of that treasure, everything changed.
"Urgh!"
He slipped, and fell onto his side. He gripped the grasses with his hands, frustrated at the feeling of weakness that was slowly engulfing his whole body. His limbs felt like lead as he tried to move them.
"I... won't die... I will... get my vengeance...!" He gasped as he moved by pushing his prone body with his hand. Then he froze, surprised as he felt some sort of barrier that he just passed through.
It felt like he just walked through a silk curtain. There was a strange sense within his mind that was trying to lead him away from this direction, but a mysterious power seemed to have protected his mind from that beguiling effect. Making him move forward instead of turning back.
Now, his eyes laid on the environment that suddenly appeared on his vision. A luxurious house that was much grander than the one from their Sect Master stood proudly on a beautiful natural scenery. A sea with crystal blue water, and a quarry with spirit stones sticking out besides the entrance laid before his eyes.
"What... is this place...?" He coughed out blood once more, as his eyelids became more heavier. Though his surprise doesn't end as he felt it.
He finally noticed the intense concentration of Qi that gathered on this whole place. It was much richer than the Qi outside. In fact, even if he haven't entered the cultivation tower of their sect yet, he felt like it couldn't contend on the richness and purity of the Qi that gathered around this small area.
As his consciousness was getting close to blacking out, he suddenly saw a very large demon beast wolf emerging out of nowhere besides the house. Besides the wolf was a weird person who wore a peculiar outfit that hid their feature. Their outfit was reminiscent of that of a rabbit, but the color was pink.
Though the face beneath the rabbit-eared hood made his heart flutter as it was an incredibly beautiful lady beneath that. Eyes the same color as a peak purity jade, and a face that could be likened to a fairy. She was a beauty who now watched his prone figure with what he considered as a concerned expression.
"... How beautiful..." Those were the last words he uttered before he lost consciousness. The last scene he saw before he close his eyes was the beautiful fairy in a peculiar outfit rushing towards him with a panicked look.
The protagonist has encountered the Xianxia protagonist #1. What to do?
Well, it's up to the protagonist (and also my muse) as to what will happen next.
I hope you have fun with this story, see you later!~
Just when I am done eating the steak I made, I am surprised to suddenly hear an alarm within my mind. It is the effect of one of my formations, which has the simple purpose of alerting me if someone uninvited manages to walk pass it.
I made that formation in case of someone getting pass the warding formation.
I knew it! I am so weak that anyone can just enter my puny formations! Why am I lazing around like this!?
Anyway, about the stranger. It is a man with a feature that is commonly seen on the supermodels on China. They have a fair skin that rivals that of a woman, and his face is sharp and well-proportioned. I also have a weird way of telling his body proportions, and I can say he is physically fit.
He have the same appearance as those super idealized models from Southeast Asia. Not just on Japan, but even on the South Korea and China. They are the one who have this exaggerated face that makes dolls go to shame.
Honestly, I don't see the appeal. Others might find him rather handsome, but for me I only felt it looks fake. It's my own problem, not being attracted to real guys. I much prefer videogame characters and anime characters. Those male leads are much hotter than this one!
... But that doesn't mean I have to think like this. I'm really so bad! Even thinking so lowly of others when I'm not even better!
I suddenly felt something soft pressing against me, and realized it is Pochi who is nudging me.
"Ah... right..."
Let's stop thinking for now and actually help this guy who is bleeding. I can't help but wince at the deep slash mark behind him. I'm surprised he haven't died yet. The cut definitely got a few inches deeper, and it goes from the left shoulder to the right torso. It's nasty!
I half-expected his guts or spine to be spilling out, but my earth stage medical skill didn't think so. A bit out of topic, this is one of the abilities I learned in preparation of an event when I suddenly get injured or something. Though there is a heal spell now, so that skill is entirely useless.
Okay, let's focus on the problem at hand!
He is currently dying. Though surprisingly, my estimates of how long he could go is thirty minutes. That's a lot more than just what a normal person could endure if they got the same injury as this guy.
There is only one possibility why it is so. He might be a cultivator like me!
This is surprising. I am actually meeting a cultivator face-to-face for the first time. Xiu Bai's image of them is that of a brave and ruthless warrior who defies the heaven to achieve immortality, or create their own fate by facing the laws of the heaven and earth, whatever she meant by that...
Personally, I am a bit scared of cultivators. If I filter off the weird justification within Xiu Bai's biases, I only see these cultivators as terrifying people who will kill a person just to achieve their goal.
Then, should I leave him alone? What if he suddenly tries to kill me!?
... But, I can't really leave him alone. Just letting a dying person on his own just because of fear that he might hurt me... that will eat at my conscience!
Ugh... I'm really so stupid. I can only blame myself for my stupidity if this causes trouble on my way.
I decided to heal him first with my heal spell. It is now an earth grade spell, and it seems like it is strong enough to close even his internal injuries. I didn't have to recast it because it fully recovers his body.
After checking his pulse for a bit, I ask Pochi to guard him as I walk to an empty spot and prepare the materials to build a simple shelter for him.
I don't want to carry him myself! I think he won't like it if he wakes up seeing something like me!
I can't also let him in my house. It might be preposterous for me, but my home is my own sanctuary. It is also really embarrassing to let a stranger in my house, regardless if I'm trying to help him.
I can build houses a lot faster now, so I think I can finish this one before he wakes up. I'm not even going to build something fancy. Only a simple one just to shelter him for a moment.
With those thoughts in mind, I quickly begin working. He gasped in a start as he woke up. His eyes wide as he quickly looked around.
"Where am I!?" He was a bit alert, having found himself in an unfamiliar room.
The whole room was made of wood.
"... Wait, it's not a normal wood. These are... spiritual logs!?"
Spiritual logs were lumbers that originated from trees that grew on an environment rich with Qi. It was greatly sought after by cultivators, mostly those who owned flying boats or glorious pagodas as it was extremely durable that it could even withstand a chaotic battle between Golden Core Cultivators.
"The whole room felt so... uniform. The way they are cut are so perfect... just who lives here!?" He gulped, a bit intimidated as he realized some other details around him.
Even with his untrained eyes, he noticed the identical shapes of each side of the room. It was a perfectly cubic room made of wood only, and he couldn't even find any hints of the indented lines of the wood, making them look incredibly smooth like a marble. The room has a single door and a single hatch on the side of the bed, which acted as the window of this room.
He opened the window and gasped in surprise as a breeze of rich Qi gently brushed past his cheeks. His body suddenly felt energized by the Qi alone.
He was more surprised when he saw the scenery which he recalled the last thing he saw before he lost consciousness. There was the crystal blue sea a short distance away.
"... This is..." A knock suddenly interrupted his thoughts, and he quickly look at the door with trepidation.
His mind was working into overdrive as he got closer to the door. The thought that a hidden master might be living in here passed by his mind.
'But... I definitely recall a beautiful fairy in pink before I lost consciousness!' He thought. 'Maybe she is the hidden expert's daughter?'
As those thoughts came to his mind, he was finally in front of the door. His hand felt a bit sweaty, and he couldn't help but gulped a fresh batch of air. Slowly, he grabbed the knob of the door, and half of his mind was a bit distracted at how smooth the door knob was as he opened twisted it and pulled.
He was expecting a mysterious elder to be standing behind the door, but instead there was no one but air. "Huh?" He blinked his eyes in dumbfounded wonder, before his eyes settled below and was surprised to find a tray full of food and a small paper with something written on it.
He took it, and easily understood the common language written in there.
"'You might be hungry, so I prepared this for you' huh."
He looked from left to right, though he didn't find the one who possibly knocked on the door and put this tray in front of him.
'No, maybe this is a test!' His eyes narrowed with a sudden realization.
He was just planning to call out to the person as he wanted to see them, and possibly thanked them. There was a high chance they helped him from his predicament, and his personality couldn't leave a debt of gratitude unpaid.
Though he realized that a mysterious person who helped a cultivator like him would definitely not be a simple person. This kind of expert would have no reason to hide from the guest that they saved from their own home.
Instead of sating his own pride and curiosity, he decided to play along and bowed to the air.
"Thank you for your generosity, Esteemed Elder!"
There was no reply, but he wasn't expecting anything though. If the mysterious savior was testing him, he just had to pass it.
'This is an opportunity. I have to grasp it while I still can!'
If a cultivator was asked what was important on their path to immortality, everyone would answer the same thing.
It was opportunities!
Without encountering opportunities, they would be left behind by their peers. It doesn't matter if the cultivator was a genius or the son of the heavens. Without grasping the opportunities they encountered, they would still be useless against those who took every opportunity they encountered.
Opportunities gave them many benefits. It depended on what kind of opportunity it was. It might be a chance meeting with a hidden expert, or a treasure that they suddenly discovered out of nowhere. He could even understand why his friend backstabbed him, because it was an opportunity that only one could benefit.
Still, he now held a grudge against hi former friend, and an opportunity presented itself to him. He would be a fool to let this slipped out of his hand.
'With this opportunity, I will get the recognition of the hidden expert, and acquire all the benefits I can get before I go back! Zhou Wang, I will definitely get back and pay you back for the pain you inflicted on me!'
With those dark thoughts running through his mind, he accepted the meal he was given and ate it within the room provided to him.
As he used his chopstick skillfully and took a small piece of the venison to his mouth, his eyes widened in shock once more.
"Wait... is this a meat from a Demon Beast!?" He was surprised.
It was common for Cultivators to stop craving mundane desires like sating their hunger. A Cultivator could only focus on their path, and those who indulged on mortal desires would definitely lost their path and they would forever be stuck on their level. Doomed to fail on their path to immortality.
That doesn't mean they don't eat. Rather, they were picky with what they eat. One of the things they ate were demon beasts meat. These meat were more tastier, but more importantly they contained a smidge of bloodline, cultivation, and a sliver of Qi from the origin of these meat.
Eating one greatly helps at cultivation, moreso if the one they ate originates from a beast that was closely related to their ancestry. It would greatly boost their bloodline, and they would further increase their capabilities and even their cultivation in the process.
He originally thought that the test wasn't done, and he was being forced to eat mortal food. Though now that he tried the meat, he was surprised to taste this richness, along with the abundant amount of untainted Qi spreading throughout his body, starting from his tongue.
"It's not just a normal demon beast, but a higher level one. I think at least a Golden Core Demon Beast!" He exclaimed in surprise and excitement.
As an outer sect disciple, he could only eat mortal food. He needed to use his contribution points if he wanted to have a chance to even eat a demon beast meat at the level of Body Tempering.
Though now he was eating something that was two whole stages higher than those expensive ones on his sect. He couldn't believe his fortune.
'As expected, this is a great opportunity!'
Though, even if the meal was incredibly delicious and beneficial for him, he couldn't eat it as much. The meat contained incredibly potent Qi, enough for even Golden Core Cultivators to progress on their cultivation with just a single serving.
It was impossible for him. He was a 4th Body Tempering Stage cultivator. One of the weakest who had stayed as an outer sect disciple for three years. Despite his great comprehension speed, it was hard for him to raise his cultivation. It felt like his potential was so vast that the amount of Qi he was absorbing couldn't fill up his Qi, like something was absorbing it from him.
That problem was useless at the face of this food, and no matter how supposedly wide his empty potential was, it was still at the amount that was absurdly large for Body Tempering cultivators. This food contained such pure and rich Qi with it's juices and meat that it felt like his half-filled reserve within his inner sea was suddenly filled up to the brim.
A bit panicked, he quickly sat in a cross-legged position on the bed and meditated carefully. He tried to stabilize the Qi that was suddenly introduced on his body, consolidating the pure Qi and trying to contain as much as he could.
Black, disgusting ichor left the pores of his skin. It clinged to his clothes, and made him frown due to the nasty smell that quickly covered the room.
"Urk... Impurities..." He clicked his tongue, before he opened his eyes and looked at his hands. "Still... I achieved the 5th Body Tempering Stage by just eating a piece of meat. How mysterious!"
It was unbelievable. Even the most luxurious feast from their sect couldn't compare to this meat. It was the highest quality meat he had ever tasted, and he believed nothing could contend against it.
He looked at the remaining piece of steak, and saw that there was a pale yellowish cream on a cup besides the plate of steak. He wondered what it was and decided to take a taste by swirling his chopstick with it for a bit. It was a bit sticky that he managed to scoop a decent amount before he put it in his lips.
"!?!?"
His eyes widened as he tasted the creamy taste of the mashed potatoes. A strong surge of Nature Qi and Earth Qi spread around and covered his cultivation nerve paths. He was surprised that it greatly complemented his cultivation. Another surge of power welled up and quickly filled his empty reserves into full once more.
"N-no... I can't do this anymore!" He was a bit terrified now as he felt like he was close to breaking through once more.
He couldn't afford that. He felt like his body wouldn't be able to handle it if he breakthrough once again. He decided to stabilized his chaotic heart and ignore the food.
'That's right. This is a test! I shouldn't be too greedy and take everything the hidden expert shows to me!'
With those thoughts in mind, he pushed the tray to the side for a bit and spent his time sitting on the bed in a meditative position. He thought this was the right decision as the hidden expert haven't done anything yet. Urk... I knew it. He didn't like my cooking...
That's fine. In fact, I even expected it. Even at school, I am always mocked as a pretend cook. It's why I even stopped cooking to my parents, because the world just shows me how useless I am!
It's not like I am crying... this is normal...
I should really just cook for myself. As for the possible future guests, I think I'll just give them fruits or something. They won't like my food anyway...
Currently, I am following my guest while the Invisibility spell is active. I don't want to be seen, but I felt really uncomfortable just letting him move around my place without my supervision. I am also a bit nervous that Pochi might suddenly bite this guy if I am not besides him.
This guy is currently in my training ground. He asked me whether he can explore my place, and I quickly responded by writing it on a plaque and planting it on the ground just near him. It is working so far, so there is no need for me to show myself to him.
Directly talking to a stranger... no way!
He didn't like my cooking. I think will be disgusted if he sees me personally...
Anyway, he is currently on the training ground. My essence clones are still doing their own researches, though he didn't seem to notice them.
This is normal by the way. A few weeks ago, Pochi entered this place while my clones are flinging out various spells that I have. Those spells simply phased through it as if they were an illusion, and maybe they are and it's just a simulation that my cheat ability made.
I still wonder, if they are just a simulation, how can those clones from the herb garden harvest trees around?
Other than that confusing thing, I just follow him as he admired the place. At least he appreciates my territory. I felt somewhat happy that someone can appreciate it.
"Esteemed Elder, may I ask for permission to use this place! I would like to practice my combat skills!" He cupped his hand on the air, not even looking in my direction.
He kept doing that whenever he tried speaking. He was speaking out loud, so I kept a certain distance to him. I felt really startled when he first spoke that loudly.
I quickly wrote on a plaque and then planted it besides him before quickly going back to the distance. I watch him look at it and then nodded with satisfaction.
I'm glad he looks satisfied. I will feel incredibly depressed if my first guest leaves the place in a bad mood.
I hope he leaves in a good note, and that he leaves soon. I am just trying to be polite to him, but I felt a bit stressed having a stranger in this place. Two days later, and he is still here. He comes back to the hut I made for him to rest, and then goes back to my training ground to swing his sword around.
I wonder why he kept doing this? Doesn't he feel tired just doing all of that?
Because he is here, I really can't just leave him to his own, so I kept serving him fruits from my herb garden. He didn't like my cooking, so I think fruits must be alright?
Well, it is. He even requested if he can take some with him. I accepted of course. There is no need to be stingy when I have millions of them in my Inventory.
As I watch him swing his sword around I wonder, just how long is he going to stay here?
Another chapter before I go to sleep. I hope you have fun.
Thank you for reading and see you next time everyone!~
Fan Ling is still here. It's been a week now, but he continues on his monotonous routine calmly. He sometimes goes around my territory except my house.
He has been staying here for so long that I learned about his name after he introduced himself even without me being close to him. I wonder if this is normal for cultivators? He kept speaking to the air as if he expected that the person living here will hear him...
Well, I can hear him fine, but that's because I occasionally follow him. Of course I go back to my house to sleep, or do some of my hobbies, but I spent some of my time looking out for him.
I kept giving him fruits, and he is always setting it aside on his pocket, and eating it in-between his sword training sessions.
I watched him as he does that, and this might sound like arrogant, but his sword technique felt lacking to me. It might be my earth grade swordsmanship telling me that.
Along with survival and self-defense skills, I decided to learn martial arts and every weapons that I can think of. I did this a few weeks ago while I'm still pretty obsessed with just learning skills, and I am hoping that it will help if something bad happens.
All of my skills are now earth grade. It will take a long while before I get to the next grade, because I need 10,000,000 Qi for that. It's a good thing my cultivation progress, skills, items, and almost everything within my skill set are separate. They don't share their progression.
The way he moves his swords and infuse his intent is a bit lacking. It's incomplete in my eyes. I really want to at least suggest some changes to his form, but I can't really talk to him personally. I also think it's too arrogant of me to even think that my style is better than his.
So I decided to just keep it to myself and watch him. Though even that is getting boring.
I think I'll draw something after I am tired of watching him? Yes, I think I'll do that! Another day has passed, and suddenly he asked if he can go to the Monster Gathering Formation. It's a bit of a mouthful, so I just call it as the Monster Ranch. My cheat ability calls it like that, so I think it's fine to use that term?
Anyway, he wanted to enter the Monster Ranch. I think I put a plaque that says it is incredibly dangerous, but he still wanted to enter that place?
"My foundation will become brittle if I don't build it up through combat. This Fan Ling hopes that the Esteemed Elder will let me enter the secret world!"
Oh, is that so?
So cultivators needed to fight for their cultivation. Well, I think it is natural. If I compare it to an RPG game, people normally fight monsters to gain experience and level up. It might be like that on this world, but they instead needed it to stabilize their cultivation?
I don't have that kind of problem because I have a cheat ability. Though he didn't have it, so he might be trying to become more stronger by putting himself in danger?
I think it is fine. If he wants to enter the Monster Ranch, then I should just let him. The Monster Ranch has become a world of it's own. The system now rated it as an Earth Grade, and it seems like it became as wide as a whole forest region. I think it even surpassed the length of Mt. Fuji by land size alone.
I personally don't want him to jump into danger. I can't understand why they wanted to do that. Though he is not me, and I don't have the right to dictate what he can do.
Though I am still worried, so I think I will let Pochi accompany him.
With that decided, I quickly write on my plaque and planted it besides him before running away. I am surprised to discover that I am faster than he can sense, so before he looks at my plaque I was already on the distance watching him.
As to what I wrote, I'm just telling him that I will lend Pochi to him for a moment, and also to wait for a bit as I prepare something to keep him safe.
Even if I don't feel comfortable at his presence, he is my guest now. Even if that Monster Ranch is something I won't ever set foot, it is still part of my territory. I have to be responsible for my guests!
So I took some of the pills that my clones made, and a few things like some magical swords crafted by my clones.
After feeling satisfied with that, I put it all on a wooden chest and put that chest behind him. I didn't wait to see his reaction as I quickly go to the pond where Pochi is lazing around.
I hope he gets back soon. I currently set the time setting of the monster ranch to 1:1,000. I just accelerated the time to the maximum, because I want monsters to quickly thrive and change into another generation. This is for a case where I somehow entered that place by accident. My cheat ability said that monsters will be more loyal to me as it goes further on their generation.
If he didn't come back this afternoon, I will be extremely worried. I hope those items in that chest helps somehow...
By the way, a funny thing as I came back to his side with Pochi. He suddenly kowtowed three times and proclaimed that he is proud to accept me as his teacher.
Why? What did I do? Fan Ling was giddy as he entered the secret world. He considered the wooden chest as an indication that the hidden expert had recognized his effort and talent.
He had worked so hard. Showing off his diligence in his cultivation without asking for anything. For a whole week, he just trained his Viridian Sword Arts and accepted the potent spiritual fruits that the hidden expert gives him.
He assumed that all of his hard work had finally paid off. Now he have a new set of Qi-infused robes, and an Earth Grade Sword Artifact. He couldn't believe the hidden expert would actually bestow a precious sword like this one. Only Elders and Core Disciples have this on their sect, and they only have a single one. He got at least three swords with different designs, and all of them were Earth Grade artifacts.
But the most incredible thing of all wasn't that, it was the three jars filled to the brim with peak quality pills. He couldn't helped but be extremely grateful as those pills were incredibly precious.
They were labelled helpfully, though even without the label, he still knew about this pills as they existed on his sect. There was the Health Recovery Pill, which was a pill that could heal even his internal wounds. A Qi Rejuvenating Pill, which increased the recovery of his Qi. Then the last one was the Dragon Vein Pills, which was a precious pill that could temporarily increase the capabilities of a cultivator by five times without any repercussions.
All of these were precious, and with the fragrant smell of the pill alone, he knew that it was peak quality. Their vibrant hue within the sturdy glass jar showed that it barely had any impurities within it. Which was extremely rare, because he recalled even the core disciples of their sect couldn't even get their hand on something with this quality.
In fact, he thought their sect master didn't have something like this. If he had, it might be so rare that he was just hiding it to his personal storage.
He put all of the things his new master gave him to his dimensional pouch. This dimensional pouch also came from the hidden expert. He was pleasantly surprised, as he couldn't even afford an item storing accessory. His master just gave it to him like this.
'I swear I will repay this gratitude a hundred fold!' He felt so grateful that his heart was already set on his master. He wanted to show that their recognition wasn't wasted on him.
He glanced at the side to look at the large demon beast wolf that walked besides him. It had an intimidating visage, though there was also grace with it's movements. It's beautiful silver fur sways gently along with it's casual walking figure as he watches it.
His master called this great wolf Po Chi. If this wolf had a name, then that meant it was the personal pet of his master. Even if it was a pet, it was still a being close to the hidden expert, so he had to be polite.
Though even if it wasn't, he still needed to be polite because of it's extremely chilly aura that it exuded.
'This demon beast is at the peak of Nascent Soul. The sect master can't defeat this beast!' He thought in awe.
Nascent Soul Cultivators were rare in this region. This was a desolate region, so it was even a surprise that a Nascent Soul Cultivator existed here. A beast was naturally stronger than a person, and it would be moreso if the beast was a demon beast with a high cultivation level.
Even if a beast and a human were at the same stage, the beast would prevail. They could only be equal to a human who was one stage higher than them.
This also meant that Po Chi could fight against Spiritual Ascension Stage Cultivators, which was nonexistent in this region at all. Their sect master was the only Nascent Soul Cultivator on their sect, and the elders were only at the later stages of the Core Formation Stage. They couldn't possibly contend against the pet of his master.
This type of beast had been lent to him by his master. He was sure that it will go back after he was done with his solo expedition within this secret world. It doesn't matter though because for him, the act of lending their pet to him was the same as saying that the hidden expert had recognized him.
He was pumped up to show the results of his newfound power. He had achieved the 7th Body Tempering Stage now, and he felt like he had to fight demon beasts to strengthen the foundation of his cultivation and his mentality. It would be embarrassing if he have a brittle cultivation. Regardless of how high he got from cultivation level alone, those who had a strong foundation could defeat him even with a lower cultivation level.
"The path to immortality is filled with hardships. I have to do my best and surpass all these trials to become the strongest!" He muttered under his breathe as he walked forward, towards the field filled with an intense concentration of Qi. Po Chi, that was the name that her master gave her. Her master was the most strongest being she had ever encountered. She still felt ashamed when she tried to chase her master as a prey.
Po Chi was glad that she quickly submitted to her Master's demand. To be the pet of this esteemed person was a great honor and opportunity to her life. Now she lived comfortably with a steady supply of food, and a safe place where she could grow steadily. She even got a mysterious blessing from her Master, which steadily increased her cultivation.
She thought that it would take at least a year before she could achieve the level for the transformation trial. She had already decided that she would undergo the harshest tribulation as a sign of loyalty to her master.
The transformation technique that every demons instinctively knew after they achieved a certain age or level on their cultivation enables them to change their form into a human permanently. This would result in their cultivation being extinguished, though in exchange they could cultivate the same way as a human. Their cultivation would also be better than a human due to originally being monsters, which were overall better than a common cultivator.
She wanted to serve her master effectively, and this form was an obstacle to that. If she got rid of her form and changed into a human, she could serve her master faithfully.
She dreamt of a day of serving her master, and being praised a lot by her. That beautiful person who wore a peculiar outfit reminiscent of a pink rabbit, the thought of seeing her master smile just caused her tail to wag unconsciously.
She was taken out of her daydreaming as she noticed a Core Formation Stage Demon Beast. She glanced at the human whom her master currently had taken an interest with, and decided to take care of the beast before it got closer to him.
She was tasked to protect him as he tries to experience many things within this secret world. She actually felt a bit jealous because this man took some of the attention of her master. Though if it was her master's wishes, she didn't have the heart to deny it.
She couldn't find anything interesting with the man. His swordsmanship was lame to her eyes. She had seen true swordsmanship when her master tried wielding a sword once on that training ground. She couldn't forget that beautiful dance she did as she swung her sword around.
He was still someone her master recognized, so she could only keep her opinions to herself.
This was also just fine. She planned to bring some of the friends she made within this secret world back to her master so they could become her pets too. Being the pet of her master was a great honor to the demon beast kind.
She just had to guide this person as she does this on the background. It was easy for her. She was well-known on this secret world as the ruler of this forest. No monsters inhabiting this secret would dare be rude on her presence, or else she would hunt their kind into extinction.
'Be grateful that you are living in my Master's backyard! If you dare be rude, I will personally hunt your kind!' She thought arrogantly.
There were still some Demon Beasts that were clueless about the hierarchy within this forest like the ferocious forest boars, the secretive jade snakes, and even the cowardly deer demons. Though she didn't care. They were just preys to her.
She assumed that her Master liked the meat of these clueless demon beasts, so she wasn't hunting them to extinction yet. It was much more preferable to hunt them occasionally so they had a steady supply of meat.
She would explore along with this guy, and come back after a year inside here. It would barely be half a day when they came back outside. This secret world was mysterious enough that it's Law of Time was different from the outside.
'My Master is amazing!' She thought, her tail wagging as she admired the deep knowledge of her master.
She would hunt more meat and drop it by her Master's house. She thought her Master would love that.
It is a female wolf. They just don't know about it.
Thank you for reading, and see you later everyone!~
His first week within the secret world was met with incredible difficulty. There wasn't any Foundation Establishment Stage Demon Beasts inhabiting here, which was already surprising. The lowest stage monster he encountered was at the peak stage of Body Tempering Stage. He met with many hurdles in his solo expedition.
If not for the earth grade swords, pills, and the robes that were surprisingly enchanted, along with the existence of his master's pet, he would have already became animal feed within this secret world. He was grateful that his master prepared all of this so he could survive.
Still, due to this many hardships, his foundation became more solid. With the protection of Po Chi, he was able to cultivate in peace and internalize his experience through his meditation, which gave him enough epiphany to advance on his sword arts.
Abilities were separated from grades, though these grades were further separated on states. States was an indication of how much a cultivator understood the technique itself.
The Viridian Sword Art was a Spirit Grade Sword Art. It was a strong sword art that almost every disciples of Viridian Sword Sect practices.
With each grade, it became more difficult to comprehend the technique itself. It was impossible if the technique was incomplete. Being a Spirit Grade technique, it was decent as Spirit Grade techniques was quite hard to find in this desolate region.
Being an outer sect disciple, even when he has been a disciple for three years now, the first and second volume of the Viridian Sword Art was the only thing available for him. He had nothing other than that.
Normally, outer sect disciples like him who practices this sword art only reached the Intermediate State of this techniques. Reaching that would take a few years.
But due to his great comprehension speed, Fan Ling had achieved the Expert State, and he was close to stepping onto the Master State. With his own comprehension of the Sword Dao, he managed to fill in the blanks on the incomplete sword technique.
With his fight against the Body Tempering Stage Demon Beasts that lurked around the forest, he managed to breakthrough on his comprehension, and acquired an epiphany on his sword art.
He finally reached the Master State of the Viridian Sword Art.
"I see... so this is the true form of the Viridian Sword Art!" He stood up from his sitting position and took the beautiful white sword from sheathed besides his waist.
He swung it in a beautiful arc, and it left a trail of greenish light. A sharp wind cut through the air as he did so.
"So this is the Willow Cutting Blade. A sword technique that can cut even distant opponents!" He just uttered one of the collection of techniques within the Viridian Sword Art.
He got the epiphany after his latest fight. He was thankful that Po Chi was there to always help him when he was close to losing his life.
It's been six months now since he entered the Monster Ranch Secret World. He had faced many monsters, and barely managed to come on top. He managed to breakthrough up to the 9th Body Tempering Stage. The only thing he had to do was to sit and condense an incredible amount of Qi to advance to the Qi Condensation Stage.
That stage was the requirement to become an inner sect disciple. He couldn't wait to go back and breakthrough.
"After I become a Qi Condensation Stage Cultivator, I will go back to the sect and start my revenge!" He grumbled under his breathe as his grip on his white sword tightened.
Then he looked at the sword he had, and then nodded softly before he put it back on its sheathe.
"It's not just because of my talent. It's all thanks to the treasures that my master had given me. Without these sword artifacts, I wouldn't be able to comprehend the Viridian Sword Art to the Master State!"
He looked at the three masterfully crafted earth grade sword artifacts. Before he left to enter this secret world, he asked the names of this sword and his master simply replied to him through those plaques that they haven't thought about it yet, and he could call it however he wanted.
He decided to name these swords on his preference. The white sword is called the White Lotus Sword, while the darkish one was called the Demon Slaying Sword. The last one, a crimson blade with a terrifying sword Qi contained within it was called the Crimson Peak Edge.
He had decided on those names after he tried each blades on his six months here. The White Lotus Sword was extremely light that it was practically weightless on his hand. He could focus on fast attacks with this sword, so he usually wielded this on battle.
The Demon Slaying Sword was capable of cutting even the tough hides of the demon beasts that immensely stronger than him. It had great penetration power, and he expected that even steel could easily be cut like a butter.
The Crimson Peak Edge was the strongest sword he had. It had such intense sword Qi that just by wielding it, his comprehension on the Sword Dao rises at a phenomenal speed. It was a shame that he couldn't do that for a long time, as there was a high possibility that the sheer amount of sword Qi it contained would cut him in half.
Fortunately, wielding the Crimson Peak Edge occasionally gave him enough epiphanies to show signs of sword intent. In fact, he had comprehended the way to release his sword intent. He just needed to breakthrough to the Qi Condensation Stage to actually manifest it along with his sword Qi.
He clenched his fist once more as he looked up at the sky. He was filled with anticipation, and a bit of vindictive glee as he imagined how his former friend would react when he came back.
His thoughts were so engorged with that imagination that he got startled when a very close noise of the grass being stepped on sounded behind him. He jumped up in surprise and turned around with his hand already unsheathing his White Lotus Sword. Though he stopped after he notice that it was the familiar silver fur of the wolf that guarded him.
"Grand Beast Po, you surprised me!" He exclaimed, before blinking for a moment as he noticed the beings behind the wolf.
Behind were some demonic beasts. All of which exuded the pressure of a Nascent Soul Cultivator. His thoughts of revenge was immediately put on the back of his mind as he was startled at their appearance.
He was tense. He couldn't understand who were these demonic beasts. Though he noticed that Po Chi doesn't mind their presence, so even with the feeling of wariness within his heart, he didn't try and make the first move.
The large crow demon was perched on top of the rhino demon's head. Besides them was a three tailed fox demon, and a small orb of light. All of these beings followed behind Po Chi as it moved around the light of his campfire, before it laid on the grass in a comfortable manner. The other demon beasts followed suit.
"... Grand Beast Po, are they your friends?" He asked.
The wolf simply opened one of it's eyes, and let out a soft bark before it rolled around, turning it's back on him. He was curious about the demons that gathered around the wolf demon, but he decided not to think much about it.
'It was Grand Beast Po's affairs, and my master hasn't done anything to it. I think it's safe to say that my master knows about this.'
With how mysterious his master was, he assumed it would be impossible for their pet to just gather demonic beasts without their knowledge. Since the six months he had stayed in this secret world, his impression of the hidden expert became more glorified.
Just thinking about his master, he immediately recalled what he was about to do.
"Right. Grand Beast Po, I'd like to leave this secret world tomorrow. This Fan Ling begs the Grand Beast to guide this one!" He cupped his hand and lowered his head in respect as he asked that politely.
Po Chi suddenly stood up, much to the surprise of the other demons. The crow demon squawked, startled as it suddenly flew to the tree branch just a bit on the distance, while the other demon beasts stared at it. The floating light orb moved erratically on the side.
The silver wolf glanced at him with it's tail wagging, and it suddenly moved around him. It's tongue out as it looked at him in gleeful anticipation. It barked twice at him, which forced him out of his stupor.
"Ah... yes, I'll leave tomorrow, we should take a rest for no-oooah!?"
He was just speaking, but suddenly found himself being carried by the teeth of the wolf, and suddenly being thrown to the air. Po Chi skillfully caught him on the air with it's back, and without losing momentum ran to the direction where the exit was located.
The other demon beasts followed suit, while he was forced to hold onto it's fur in fear.
"Aaaaaaaaaa!"
He underestimated how excited his master's pet was at the idea of coming back. 9th Mahayana Stage. I think stopping on that stage is fine after I achieved the requirement to turn the high grade spirit stone into peak grade.
The peak grade spirit stone gives 100,000,000 Qi, which was more than enough to get to the last stage of the Mahayana Stage. I am planning to do that when I felt the familiar presence of my pet wolf and my guest emerging from the formation.
I am surprised when more beings followed suit after they emerged from it.
Uh... what is this?
Anyway, it was already past lunch time. If my estimates are right, I think they've been on the monster ranch for more than six months. I am impressed that they can stay there for that long.
I think that might be normal for cultivators?
It's a long duration of time, but Pochi also stays there that long whenever it goes inside the monster ranch. So I think it's just normal on this world?
Looking at my pet companion panel, I can see that Pochi has reached the Spiritual Ascension Stage. It seems like you can accelerate your cultivation within the monster ranch, but only at a certain degree. Otherwise my system's passive Qi income would at least make Pochi reach Void Amalgamation with how long it stays there.
Oh no, Pochi is coming to my side. I quickly gestured for it to wait and use my taming ability to convey that it should go inside my house. My guest is still here, and I don't want to show myself to him. Even if I'm invisible now, if Pochi suddenly tries to play with me, he will know where I am generally located.
Pochi quickly let out a soft bark, and then rush towards my home. The other monsters along with it followed along and entered my home.
Hmm... maybe they are Pochi's friends?
I... don't mind. If they are the friends of my pet, then that means they are safe right?
Anyway, I first welcomed my guest back with a plaque and put some fruits on the ground along with it. I think he might be hungry after a long stay within that monster ranch.
"This Fan Ling is grateful for your generosity!" He cupped his hand just in front of the plaque as he lowered his head.
Then he begins talking about his experiences within the monster ranch without me prompting him. Even if he can't see me, it will be rude to ignore him so I listened to him.
It seems like he encountered a lot of near-death experience by fighting Core Formation monsters. They have to go far and wide just to find a place where Body Tempering beasts usually hangs out.
He said something about having an epiphany and getting to the Master State of the Viridian Sword Art. I think it is the sword art that I found lacking as I watch him train?
He also breakthrough to the 9th Body Tempering Stage, and is on his way to breakthrough to the 1st Qi Condensation Stage. He said he will be staying on the hut and try to breakthrough. This place is brimming with Qi, so he thinks it might help him.
He just got back, and he is already thinking of cultivating? Can't he just rest for a moment?
I feel worried for my guest, so even if I want him to leave as soon as possible, I decided to tell him to take a rest for now and cultivate tomorrow. It's been six months that he is fighting for his life, he should take the time to relax for a moment!
"But, I think this is the best opportunity to breakthrough right now!"
I disagree. So I wrote something on the plaque and then planted it besides him once more. I told him not to push himself too much, or it will destroy his body.
It seems like he is spooked with it, just with his shoulders jumping up like that.
"I understand. This Fan Ling is grateful for Master's guidance!" He cupped his hand once more on the direction of the plaque.
After that, he finally decided to take a rest inside the hut I made for him.
Well, I think that went well?
Now, I have to meet with Pochi and it's friends... Behind my backyard, just on the side where my guest couldn't see, I am currently meeting up with Pochi and it's friends.
Let's see, there is a large crow with jet black feathers, a white furred fox with three tails, a rhinoceros with steel-like skin, and an orb of light. With my taming skill, I managed to somewhat understand that Pochi considers them as friends, and it wants me to turn them into pets too.
I have already taken off my invisibility. I can sense where the guest is located, so I can quickly react if he decides to come here.
Anyway, Pochi's friends are looking at me with great anticipation. I can generally understand their intent. Yes, I can even understand the moving light orb and I don't know how I can do that...
It's not like I am against it. If I have more pets, my security will be guaranteed. I am just hesitant to go inside the monster ranch because I don't know whether they will suddenly attack me or not. Even if I have all this skills and cultivation level, I barely have anyone I can compare with.
There is Fan Ling, and the way he told me about his experiences, I might be able to actually win without contest... but...
Well, I might be able to handle it, but I don't want to be violent. Taming monsters usually involves getting close to them, and sometimes overwhelming the monster based on the taming knowledge I got with my skill. So I hold off that issue for awhile now.
If Pochi is going to bring new potential pets to me, then maybe I shouldn't have bothered thinking about it? I just need to tame anyone it brings to me!
It seems like I took too long contemplating it as Pochi suddenly barks, and then the small fox let out a cute yip yip noise as it reaches the air with it's paw.
Awww that's so cute~~
I felt like gushing over the cuteness of that fox when I suddenly felt a slight distortion to space. I don't know how, but I am incredibly sensitive with my surroundings and somehow knew the complex nature of advance concepts. Might be because I am on a higher cultivation level?
That slight distortion briefly grew big before vanishing as quickly as it occurs. In a short moment, a mountain of dead monsters lays in front of me.
"..." I am speechless.
Looking at Pochi, I can see that it is already drooling. It's eyes, and it's expression somehow conveyed that it wants me to take them all.
Right. Pochi likes my cooking. At least my pet likes something bad like my cooking...
The other demon beasts are also excited it seems, so they might also want to taste my cooking. So Pochi is even advertising my cooking to it's friends. I'm touched.
"Okay, I'll cook something for all of you. As for being my pets... Yes, I'd love to accept you all as my pets..." I don't know if I'm being polite or rude, but the monsters looks happy so I think I did it right?
I took the mountain of corpses to my inventory, and then named my new pets. It is mandatory when taming a beast, and I also like naming my pets so I can quickly remember who they are.
Kon for the fox, Sai for the rhinoceros, Kuro for the black crow, and Hikari for the moving light ball.
All of them did their own happy noises while I go back to my house to begin the preparation for cooking their meals. I'm glad that they are happy.
I would have uploaded this yesterday but I fell asleep, so it got this late.
Hope you have fun!~
Thank you for reading this, and see you later everyone!~
Fan Ling contemplated about the words of his master within the hut provided to him. He meditated for a moment, trying to understand why he was being told to get some rest.
It took him until midnight before he got enlightened with his contemplations. He noticed it when he was in deep contemplation. His foundation was on the verge of breaking.
"I see! If I continue pushing myself like this, then instead of becoming stronger, my cultivation will be crippled!"
It's not really a bad thing as he would still became stronger, but he would be met with a bottleneck, and he would had to find a solution to bypass that problem.
The way he was going, he would be like an overstuffed balloon. If more air was pumped into the balloon, it would bursts. It could still be pumped with air, but most of the air would leak out. That's what would happen on his inner sea.
He had to rest until his inner sea became used to the amount of Qi circulating within his dantian. He was just courting death if he pushed himself recklessly.
"As expected of my Master. They knew I am going to destroy myself if I continue like this. I've been enlightened!"
He finally realized that he was still immature. He felt like his eyes had opened to the wider world with this new insight.
"The path to cultivation must be filled with hardships, but it can't also be rushed. Even a plant can't be watered indefinitely or it will be drowned. Cultivating also needs patience and discipline! My eyes has been opened!" He cupped his hand on the window. "This Fan Ling conveys his amazement to your great insight, Master!"
His mysterious master had a profound understanding of cultivation. It was a shame that he couldn't see them personally. He wanted to at least properly greet his master.
With the enlightenment that he got, he finally did what he haven't done since coming here. He slept peacefully.
Cultivators doesn't actually sleep. They lightly sleep, or just rest their body through cultivation. They just sit cross-legged and contemplate the mysteries of the heaven and earth, trying to at least take even a single step forward to advance on their cultivation.
Though, his master's advice had finally caused him to stop holding it in and actually slept deeply. This was the first time since he became a cultivator that he slept like this. It's afternoon when I woke up. I actually don't need to sleep, but I felt like doing so now that I don't have anything to do other than my own hobbies.
There is the matter of that guest, but I trust that he won't enter my house. There is also Pochi who is always near the pond, so I think it will stop him if he ever tries to sneak in.
Talking about Pochi, I recall that it's friends are here. I quickly go downstairs after wearing my usual hoodie and jeans. I am more comfortable wearing this than the robes that the people of this world seemed to like wearing.
I checked up on them briefly with my panel and I can see that they are one stage behind than Pochi. All of them are at the Nascent Soul Stage, and with the assimilation from my system, their cultivation are steadily progressing.
When I left my house, I can see them all lazing besides my very large pool. I can't see Sai and Kuro, so I wonder where they are? I can't sense them within my territory, so maybe they are inside my monster ranch?
Anyway, when I step outside, Pochi and others perked up and gaze towards me. I just gestured for them not to cause too much ruckus, and leave them alone as all of them just gaze at me for a moment with what I discerned as some sort of disappointment or longing. Do they want to play?
Well... I have a guest right now. I can't really let him see me, even if it is by accident...
With my Qi senses, I quickly manage to find out where my guest is. I walk to the training ground and sees him using the white sword I gave him on his training. The way he swings it is still the same, but there is this sense of uniformity within his swings. I somehow can detect that he has improve on his sword stances and movements.
I've been wondering this for awhile, but what kind of sword technique is he using? Can I learn it?
[Would you like to use 10,000 Qi to learn Viridian Sword Art?]
Viridian Sword Art is an inferior offshoot of a Celestial Grade Sword Technique, Wind God Sword Dance. Viridian Sword Art can't be upgraded past the Earth Grade. Would you like to proceed?(Accept/Reject)
The System has detected that you found a variant of an original technique. The System will now show you another function to help the host on her life as a cultivator!
After that prompt, it suddenly shows me a list of techniques starting from where Viridian Sword Art actually originated.
Actually, I think most sword arts originated from this original version. It's called the Ultimate Sword God Art, and it's grade is labelled True Origin Grade. I wonder just how far is that grade to Earth Grade?
Viridian Sword Art is originally an Earth Grade Sword Technique, and it seems like this is the completed version. There is also the incomplete Viridian Sword Art, which is Spirit Grade only.
The Wind God Sword Dance, which is where Viridian Sword Art is inspired to, is also an offshoot of another sword art, which is just variant of another sword art, and another one, before it gets to the original version.
I see. So it actually evolved overtime. Or maybe degraded? I still don't know what's the difference between the Celestial Grade, Immortal Grade, and Void Grade techniques!
Anyway, it seems like I can immediately learn the completed version of Viridian Sword Art, so I tried doing so. It's just 90,000 Qi more expensive than the incomplete version.
[100,000 Qi has been deducted to learn the completed Viridian Sword Art!]
And suddenly I learned it. The Viridian Sword Art that he has been practicing for several days now. All I can say is that some of his movements are wrong.
But I don't want to tell him that. I might offend him...
Wait a minute. Why does he keep practicing his sword art here? Is he trying to achieve the perfect state of that sword art before he leaves?
Maybe that's it?
Then what if I just give him the full technique? Maybe he will leave if he has that?
That's it!
I should try that. I really wanted to play with Pochi and my new pets soon...
It is easy. I have an earth grade writing ability. I can write pretty fast than even those who uses keyboards. I just need a pen and notebook, which I have an abundant amount of within my Inventory! It was evening. Within the provided hut near the pond, Fan Ling was taking in the Qi on his surroundings without the usual impatience within his heart. It took only a moment before he managed to take a sufficient amount before he felt an explosion within his dantian.
"1st Qi Condensation Stage..." He let out a smoky sigh from his breathing, his whole body releasing some steam as an indication that his body had undergone some internal changes.
By resting yesterday, his inner sea became sturdy enough to endure the large changes within his cultivation roots. His inner sea had doubled in size after his breakthrough, and along with it were wider pathways to his inner sea. It exponentially increased his capability to absorb Qi.
If he immediately did this yesterday, some of his Qi pathways would bursts. His master was right, he had to take some rest before cultivating again.
'With this, I can finally go back and start my revenge!' He thought to himself before he perked as he heard a knock.
Only one person would knock on the door.
He quickly stood up in attention and walked towards the door hastily. He opened it and respectfully cupped his hand even when he didn't see the figure of his master.
"What is it... Master...?" He was surprised when he reads what was written on the plaque that his master usually left as a way to convey their message.
"'I hope this helps you on your journey...' What does that mean...?" He looked below and saw a pouch and a book.
He took it and look inside the pouch. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw extremely bright and pure spirit stones.
"Peak Grade Spirit Stones!?" He was surprised, gasping in wonder at the amount he got.
Then he looked at the book, and his eyes shook when he saw the name of the book.
"The completed version of Viridian Sword Art!?" He quickly opened it, and felt his mind being enlightened as he reads the first sentence of the book.
(The main essence of Viridian Sword Art was to copy the nature of the wind. Be quiet and gentle like a breeze, or be reckless and tempestuous like a raging storm. These were the core principle of this sword art!)
"A great treasure!" He exclaimed in amazement.
Once more, he felt indescribable happiness and gratitude as he was given one of the most precious object on this region.
'Just who is my master? Are they related to the foundation of the Viridian Sword Sect?' He wondered to himself.
He might be an outer sect disciple, but he had been a disciple of that sect for three years now. He had heard of rumors, and most of it were verified by his other acquaintances. Even the old man at the sect archives had verified it as he asked about it.
The Viridian Sword Art that the sect had was currently incomplete. Out of the original twelve volumes, only eight volumes had been retained and treasured within their sect. Only the sect master had the eighth volume. The rest were either trained separately to their elders, core disciples, inner sect disciples, and outer sect disciples.
Those books talked about the philosophy of each techniques, stances, and movements of the Viridian Sword Art. It took many pages, which was why it consumed many volumes.
Though this book was thick, but it showed everything he had to know about the sword technique. The right movements, procedures, and even the required state of mind on the duration of their preferred techniques.
He felt like what he learned was trash compared to this single book. It was more precious than the hundred peak grade spirit stones on the pouch.
He cried. He felt so moved by the generosity of his master that he kowtowed on the ground once more.
"This Fan Ling will forever regard the hidden expert as my only Master. With the heavens as my witness, I swore that I, Fan Ling, will always regard Master as my original teacher! Even if I accept another teacher in the future, Master will always be the one that I will consider my true mentor until the day I die!"
He heard a thud outside the house, and he was surprised that he stood up and quickly peeked outside for a moment. He only saw a plaque flat on the ground. Nothing was written on it.
He wondered if it was his Master, but he quickly shook that thought away.
He clenched his fists, once more feeling grateful to his Master. [The System has detected that you are taking care of a Cultivator. The System will assimilate every cultivators you guide and took care for to the System!]
[You have unlocked the Idle Sect Simulation. You will have a separate Qi income for the management of your sect, and the sect will progressively become better as the time passes!]
[You have unlocked the Sect Management function. You can now assign anyone you deemed worthy to be a disciple, elder, or any position available within your sect. Your whole territory will be considered a part of your sect, and will steadily improve overtime!]
That prompt surprised me. The plaque I am holding slipped on my hand and I am so startled that even when it is incredibly slow to my perception, I just stood there and look how the plaque just fell on the ground with a thud.
I quickly left the scene before my guest looks at my direction.
Still... what's with this prompt? Idle Sect Simulation? Sect Management?
What is a sect? Is it the equivalent of Adventurer's Guild in this world?
Wait... I think I recall from Xiu Bai's memory that a sect is where cultivators gather. I think it is like a faction or something... though I am unsure because Xiu Bai only knew the bare minimum about them...
Ugh... I'm so confused!
Your disciple, Fan Ling, was incredibly grateful to you. His loyalty is now at 100%!
Finally I'm done with this chapter. I just wrote whatever came to mind, and took some of your suggestions to continue the story. Thank you by the way!~
I hope you have fun...
Thank you for reading this, and see you later everyone!~
